[Q] [Request] Screen off notifications - Android Apps and Games

I am looking for some help designing an app specifically for the SGSII as it will be useless on any other phone that can't turn off pixels when not in use. I know there are other phones out there that can but thats not my target.
Not sure this is the correct sub forum but please more if needed.
I am looking to create an app like NoLed but instead of it displaying icons and such across the screen I would like it to only display the status bar. I have tried to figure how MADMACK got the app to display when the screen is "off" but no luck. If anyone could help me with this I would appreciate it.
I know I could use the combination of a few apps to achieve this desired look but I really feel that I could improve upon having to use multiple apps and in turn cut battery consumption. I have a little experience so someone with some patience is needed but I do learn quickly and am not against doing my own research. I just need some guidance. I can do some basics in Eclipse and have read some Android Application development 101's but am not finding what I need to know where to start.

[Q] Live Wallpaper Background

I am pretty new into android development and have a couple questions I'm sure you guys can answer pretty quickly but have so far not been able to figure out. How do I have a set background in a live wallpaper besides just creating something from canvas, I have it already loaded in the hdpi I just need to figure out how to call it. Also, is it possible to have something appear enlarge a little bit in the center of the screen then fall off the screen? I'm trying to create a time lapse of a tree where it goes through all the weather changes. Any sites you could link me too or answers you would have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for anything you guys are able to do.

Making your own Lockscreen?

Is it possible on android to make your own lockscreen from scratch, or at least a custom combination type thing because I've had an idea for something that would be nicer then a numeric lock but less of a failure then pattern.
* In retrospect I probably should've scrolled down to android section, oh well.
Yes, is possible but you must know programing in java..
Been doing java for a couple years, could you point me to a reference or something that its been done before?
Well, you could go learn Java programming language and go from there, or you can use an app called WidgetLocker. It's free in the Play Store but there is also a paid version available for purchase. With this App you can change the slider on your lock screen and also add widgets like you would on your homescreen. You can also add app shortcuts to it. If you'd like to download more slider options go to this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=968613
There are hundreds of options to choose from. Just download it to your computer then drag it into your phones SD card and it should show up in the slider options. I hope this helps you out!
Y'know I know you probably want to get your 10 posts going and all but I see nothing in your reply that has anything to do with the original statement.
Sorry EphemeralMirage if no one has been of great help to you lately, I think he was just trying to help you and he was just trying to be nice. He didn't clearly understand your question, but being a bit nice to others would help in this forum.
You should probably check this guide out, have a look at it and see if it looks like what you need.

Thanks that looks like what I'll reference, as soon as I get the source stuff hammered out and all.
If you are looking to actually create your own way to unlock the screen
that is different than taking a stock method and changing the graphic.
It was something that I was going to look into, but I haven't got that far.
In the Nook, the screen unlockers are implemented in /system/framework/android.policy.jar
There are apparently three of them already:
LockScreen - the standard slide to unlock
LockPinKeyguardView - a four digit pin
LockPatternKeyguardView - apparently a pattern lock
So theoretically just use the source for that, add in yours and see what happens?
Then again that might be easier said then done, into AOKP I go!

[Q] booting into screen other than navigation menu screen

normally primo loads/starts into the Navigation Menu.
Has anyone ever manage to learn where to change this setting?
Suppose, you don't want to boot into the Navigation Menu and you want to change it to something else.
Let say.... like the... My Route (screen), or or boot directly into the More (screen).... or Fuel Consumption (screen)
Is this possible or a pipe dream?
I've been playing around with it on an old windows platform (using primo 1.1) and was wondering if it could be done.
Let me know any good search terms to look under in xda for good readings on someone else who has already managed to accomplish this. In the meantime, I'll keep pounding away at the search bar until I see some helpful results that answer my question. I'm sure someone has already experimented with this on xda. Thanks.
Bump - can anyone help?

[Q] Font colour location

Being new to android, I am slowly finding out how to customise the look and feel to suit me.
One thing I can't figure out is how to change the font colour in the attached photo, I'm not sure what this bit is called. But light blue is a terrible colour and I would like to change it to white or black if possible.
Can anyone tell me where this might be done? The OS is 4.2.2.
Hard
I am guessing by the huge amounts of replies, that changing the colour of this item is incredibly difficult and beyond the capabilities of most of the people on this forum.
anyone?
I must be in the wrong forum.
Well you could have saved some time and looked at it yourself. It is set in the system ui apk and defined in framework res. Depending on your device. See that's the thing it really depends on the rom and device. It is different for each. Not to mention there are plenty of tuts that would have told you the same thing.
thanks
Thanks, you couldn't point out one of these tuts could you? If I knew what the thing I want to change is called too, that would be helpful.
found it
It's called statusbar, and now I know it's name I can search for info on it.
Google returns a lot of results for 'thingy' or 'wotsit' but rarely the results you are looking for.
Conclusion
The thingy in the original post is called the status bar.
It is defined in /system/app/SystemUI.apk
Editing it requires a piece of software called apktool.
I now have white text instead of pale blue.
Thanks to zelendel for the clue.
All is now good.
As a slight aside, I found both a status_bar.xml and a gemini_status_bar.xml in SystemUI.apk and my phone appears to be using the gemini one. What practical use this is I don't know. The phone is a U51GT-C4B if anyone cares, it's as big as will fit in your jacket pocket without requiring the services of a tailor and makes using rdesktop so much easier.
It doesn't make your fingers any less fat, but it makes typing easier because the letters are further apart.

It's possible to make edge panel persistent?

I was wondering if it's possible to make the panel persistent. I'd like it to be visilbe all the time instead of autohiding when entering apps. Is this even possible with root or custom rom?
Not a whole lot of mods for the Edge. Best mod I've seen is RuggedHunter's AutoCocktail. Search RuggedHunter in the play store. Also that 24hr night clock mod...
Seems like having the panel fully visible would block stuff.
That's pretty cool, even though it's not what I'm looking for. I wonder if it would be difficult to make by myself. I'm a programmer but never tried android modding. When edge panels are active on the home screen, they don't block stuff, maybe that would be possible in normal apps ass well. Is there any developer who could at least give me any hint where to start or if this is even possible to do? I found a simple workaround for this. If you'll start popup window and make it as big as possible, you can use both app and screen all the time. Perhaps it would be possible to force apps to launch as popup which would take entire homescreen except edge?
