[App] Fun TV - Live TV on Android

Fun TV is an app which lets you stream TV Channels directly through the built in video player or any other player that supports live streaming. Adobe Flash is absolutely not required.
You can browse through different channels arranged by their categories. When you click a channel, it may ask you to select a streaming application if you have multiple video players installed. The app requires 2G/3G/Wi-Fi connection for live streaming. Fast connection is required for optimum result. You might encounter an error if your internet speed is low. Channel availibility cannot be guarranteed as it depends upon server load and various other conditions. You might have to configure your player in order to stream without any problem.
There are many channels repeated in the app, those might be of different quality or given in for use case other one fails. If any channel doesn't work on your phone, we request you to let us know. While contacting us, be sure to include the error message and your phone model, which might help us in identifying the problem.

Note that this app mostly contains Indian Channels, as I'm an Indian, and very less likely will get channels from other countries.
The app is Open Sourced under GNU GPL v3.0 and completely free. You can get source code at sourceforge.net/projects/funtv
The app is built using Phonegap framework and easily portable to other platforms. There is also a Symbian version available.
My phone was recently stolen, so the screenshots are from emulator. I've not tested it on a physical device. So please be kind and let me know if bugs occur.

This is ok just a little polishing on the ui and more channels then this would be awesome

Will look into it. Btw it worked on a friend's Galaxy 3 eclair.

I copied the .apk to my /sdcard, ran root explorer and installed fine.
Opened up the app and nothing happens.
need a logcat?

Does not work on lgp500 FC. I already use stream media player (player with handycam icon) to organize my rtsp links. And if I am not wrong all the rtsp links are warez that's why the MTV and utv apps from market were removed.

It works fine on CM7 Encore. I do have a couple small observations though.
The list boxes could be a little bigger. I have a tablet and they are small for me.
Make use of the android back and menu options, they are only there to help.
Move some of the first screen choices to a menu, like the themes and such.

Probably uploaded the wrong package. Could you please try now. I'm very sorry, but this was working flawlessly on my previous phone. No force closes occur in SDK. so cannot reproduce the bugs.

Rebuilt the app from scratch. Tested on two phones. No FCs now. Guys, pls give it one more chance, I need your help and suggestions.

Yes working fine right now I think you forgot the internet permission before. Some channel can't be played but I know it depends on phone video codecs and internet speed. Good work.
Here are some suggestion. You would find more users if you provide to add more rtsp links manually. Will be usefull for all users not just India.
You can also put channel logo (icon) in the selection list.

More suggestions.
Increase the list height of channel list is too thin so hard to select.
Using phones back button to go back in menus,right now using the touch button in app.

Now you can have all the XDA TV videos wherever you go using this application. At the time it's limited to tablets(since I got my Galaxy Tab last week and I wanted to play with some coding for it). I need people testing if this works and how it works on Honeycomb tablets(since I don't have one to test). If you were looking for the phone version, just click here.
I've been working on this for a week. Making the layout using HTML and CSS3 was easy, but I got a lot of problems while trying to make the code work on Android, so I took a bit more to match the code for Android. At the time I can't find another way to open up the videos without firing up the browser to redirect to the Video application, the OS has a lot of problems with HTML5 Video tag so I've done it like this.

Yup. But I'm working to port this to phones too, in about 3/4 days it will be finished. I want to make the phone users have a good experience, just like the tablet users have.

Works on the XOOM 3G, here are some things to consider.
1. Yes it did open in a browser window - but the program went back to the App. In order to watch the video I had to switch back to the browser.
2. The GUI is a little off..... "TV" is located between the brown bar and the video pane. The Play button w/ description could be centered in the app.... I know I am nit picking, but you asked

The video opened straight away for me. But may work different on HC

Now that is one ugly UI!
I would try this if I could. Sadly I've yet to buy a tablet.

Can you send me a screenshot please. I've designed this application for the Galaxy Tab, since I don't have any Honeycomb tablet, so it needs some polishes on the 10" sizing.

Hey guys I found the ultimate fix that remedies the landscape issue and allows you to play the game without chain fire. I received this tip from user Brazooka from another forum, I'm not sure if this fix has been posted here but I'll just add it on in case someone missed it.
"The issue is not the APK but the SD Data...
That's what I did:
- Used v1.1.37 APK cracked by Nops
- SD Data downloaded via Wi-Fi (let the game download)
This way the game works fine with Chainfire3D (Qualcomm plugin)
If you want to run the game without Chainfire:
- download the "SD for ALL" ( Which I will not link here for obvious reasons)in the first topic. Extract ONLY these directories:
\ea\deadspace\published\ParticleBaseTextures
\ea\deadspace\published\texturepacks_ui
\ea\deadspace\published\textures
- overwrite the previous ones, the ones the game itself downloaded from EA servers.
VOILA!"
I haven't put much time into it so if anyone has any issues feel free to let us know.

Install Chainfire3D and the Plugins, then use the PowerVR plugin, if that doesn't work, use the Qualcomm plugin.

How did you get it to install? I installed the apk and then the sd files on the root ea/deadspace and still keep getting the downloading bar.

That's what I'm hoping will happen, but the fact that no other EA games are compatible with the Transformer isn't giving me much hope. The Transformer can't even access Flexion. I finally got Need for Speed Shift working on the TF. I bought it months ago for my EVO. I had to jump through flaming hoops to get it running. There are even currently two versions on the market, at two different pricepoints. Neither of them are compatible with the TF, WTF? As far as I'm concerned, EA is currently no better than Gameloft. Placing [email protected]#t hardware requirements on their games. I would love for EA to prove me wrong and open up Dead Space for a wide variety of devices, after the month long Xperia Play exclusive period ends. But, seeing as I still can't play the Sims 3 I bought 9 months ago on my TF, I'm not expecting it.
Sorry for the mini-rant .

I think the problem could be fixed via the AndroidManifest.xml file inside the APK. The file specifies orientation, and what priority it takes.
I made a custom xml file for it.. not sure if it works, but someone would need to repackage the apk with it. I am not having any luck getting a apk to repack today...

If you want to post it, I'll give it a shot. Won't be able to post the apk if it works, because it would be warez. But I could maybe confirm.

Thats the problem I was having. I am not sure what is causing it either. Its above my head.
Been trying to figure it out. The simple line change shouldn't of changed anything to that effect..

If anything, it might be the forward slash I added at the end of the statement. Could try removing that, and giving it another shot.
Edit: Nevermind. I was able to get it to compile. It was the slash. No go. I will continue to take a look at it.

Nope. At least I haven't yet. Everything I have tried, it ignores. I have a feeling that its something deeper then just the AndroidManifest.xml file.
Been looking at the .java data for an override statement, but I did not see one.
Pretty much at a dead end from my end.

Manually replace the .apk in /data with this .apk using a root explorer or ADB?
Just wondering if anybody thought of it.
Just restore a backup when it most likely doesn't work anymore.

White screen
Hello,
I have transferred dead space to my sdcard root, and installed Chainfire 3D with the plugins (I pressed on all three, and had them install). However, I still get the white screen overlay when I start the game. Is there some way to get rid of this?

So, @Chainfire was kind enough to drop root on us today.
That means all bets are off. I got a Nexus Player early because I am a big HTPC enthusiast, as well as an avid Android Tweaker. I live to rip apart my OS and tailor it like a weird suit only I could love.
So, just flashed CF's rootboot, and it worked wonderfully. Given that I can now not only decompile and recompile lollipop APK's at will and modify system files...well...we can do anything.
For starters, I definitely want to make Google Play Movies uninstallable. I have Plex and a ton of content, and I don't want to have google movie suggestions cluttering up my screen. So let's make a script that can dump it to /data. Hell, toss music over there too.
How about re-ordering the home screen so the apps we want take first slots...not google's stuff.
I'm sure we can also have some more fun. If the bootloader is insecure, we can unpack the boot image, add init.d support and maybe tune some of Google's stock settings...see if we can get it to render HD content a little snappier.
So yeah. Hello everybody with a Nexus Player. I'm Digitalhigh. I've tried to do awesome things for people who have had the Evo 3D, M7, M8, and a few other random devices, and now I'm going to take a crack at the Nexus Player.

I think my number one pet peeve is not being able to re-arrange the apps how I see fit (even the "bump to the front the apps you use most" feature as google supposedly designed isn't working). I'd actually love to have a "pinned" row above all others with my favorite shortcuts, in the order I want them.
A close second fix would be the ability to surface non-TV optimized apps directly on the main interface, on a per app basis.
I love that the NP is now open for business.

Anyway we can get it setup so we can select the output resolution and possibly adjust for overscan. Also see if we can get some surround sound support. Seems that only google play movies outputs dolby digital.

Same here! I just did my first bit of system magic, completely obliterating play movies and tv, just to make sure the system wasn't dependent on it somehow. It's not, and I'm happy.
I will do a pull of /data, go through the XML and db's and see what settings are available to us. It'd either be in /data, or maybe a default settings bit somewhere in the UI apk that sets the default layout.
For adding non-TV apps to home menu...I forget the name, but there is an android APK out there that will let you link to specific activities in an app and make a shortcut for it on the home of launcher...I wonder if it would work with this.

Again, I'll look at what settings are available. I'll also pull down the factory image for it and see what we have available there. Just because we don't have an installer for it, doesn't mean we can't flash custom software and stuff through bootloader...kinda similar to my Rockchip RK808 android on a stick.
Oh, and I know it's a pain...but get the plexpass for a month or two. The plex for plex pass app works BEAUTIFULLY with this. I know it sucks having to pay, but versus sideloading the regular apk...it's so gorgeous...and it integrates into the home screen and searches. Only beef with it is that it's a bit laggy over AC for 1080...can't wait for my OTG cable and USB hub w. integrated NIC.
Edit: Oh, and it was sending 5.1 audio to the stereo.

So excited! I wish I knew more so I could help. I'm still just figuring how to setup the android sdk lol. But anyways, I guess what I'd like to see are my own apps in the home screen and all of the content at the top that Google shoves in our faces removed. If there's anything I can do to help get all of this awesomeness going just hit me up! ?

I sideloaded the plex apk from my logitech revue. It has the android tv interface. I dont know how up to date it is compared to thr plex pass version. But it works. But its only outputting 2.0 audio. According to the plex forum its because it uses the internal android player. That doesnt support surrounf sound.

You can turn off notifications for Google Play Movies (or any other app) and it wont show suggestions.
Looking forward to whatever else you may be able to come up with regards to customization.
I had to RMA my original unit, so I am waiting to get the new one before I root.

Calendar
I would love to get google calendar working, (can sideload but won't open) Would love to be able to sync my calendar to this device for morning viewing.
Third party apps will install (business calendar) but you cannot sync for some reason.

This is probably best as a separate topic in the Q&A section, but have you checked in settings under your user name? there is a sync section. is calendar listed there at all? I can't check at the moment, but something you can try.

[TOOL] CloneMyApp - Android APK Cloner

I couldn't find a straightforward way to clone Android apps, without watermarks and such, so I created clonemy.app to do just that.
Features​
Upload an APK file, choose a name, wait, download the cloned APK
The clone APK has a new package name, which allows for installing the clone alongside the original
Create as many clones as you want
Run multiple different versions of an app alongside each other
Limitations​
XAPK files are currently not supported
Cloning is a complicated process, and some apps are not supported
Technology​
Apps are decompiled, package name is changed, display name is changed, after which the app is recompiled and ready for download
Cloning is created with Python, on top of Apktool and Android build tools

Ah, I see. The AAPT2 version that's used doesn't do well with "use-native-library" in AndroidManifest.xml. But I'm using the latest version of aapt2, so we'll wait for an update and then fix it.
For now, try an older version of Amazon Prime Video. I tried 3.0.331.22845, which works fine for me.

Works fine with APK Pure version of Amazon Prime Video (Android TV_6.2.3+v14.0.0.601 = https://m.apkpure.com/fr/prime-video-android-tv/com.amazon.amazonvideo.livingroom/)
Now, I was able to watch Prime video with a account which be different than Fire TV account.
Because, on the installed app of the Fire TV, Prime video is automatically connected (and linked) with Fire TV account.

I have searched several time a tool to create a "real" clone of app and by chance, today, I'm falling on your post !

Good catch! I freed up some space and made sure old files are deleted periodically so that this doesn't happen anymore.

The build works fine for two apps I've tested, however, unfortunately it failed for one of the two apps.
But I guess thats a common problem with cloning apps, some apps just prevent it.

Its 'Kodi', Version 18.9, ARM generic.
DDL from KODi.tv.
Another thing I've noticed, I've also tried to clone the app 'App Cloner' app. Duing cloning process, it mentioned that the app (Kodi) crashed and if I still want to continue. After confirming, the output apk seems to be working flawlessly (so far), althought there was some error during cloning process.

That app works for me, maybe try again?

Seems to be platform specific.
I'm not able to install it on my Oreo AndroidTV, but it works on my 13 smartphone.

You're right, sorry, my bad.
Somehow the cloned app is taking more disk space than the original app and Android didn't inform me about the reason the installation failed.
