Hi guys,
I'm looking to get an Infuse 4g tomorrow and join the great crew here but was wondering about the browser:
On stock Froyo the Infuse's browser has "text reflow" where you can zoom in on an article to make the words bigger, then double tap to make all the now zoomed in words fit perfectly on the screen vertically up and down without having to scroll left or right at all.
Other phones like the iPhone do NOT have this ability so you have to read a few words, move the browser to the left, then read some more words, then move the browser back to the right, etc.
I was wondering (since the Galaxy S II doesn't have this ability and it has Gingerbread) does the Infuse 4g still have this ability with the leaked Gingerbread builds? It's a really important feature for me and I would really appreciate someone being able to answer this.
Thanks for the help
Edit: Video reviews showed the SGS II as not having this ability but as the great gtg pointed out, you can enable it in the settings. Thanks
I am running 2. 3. 3 and using Dolphin HD browser and it does this I don't know if the stock browser does it as I don't use it much but I can check it and let you know.
Infused with Android DNA
I just checked the stock browser and it does do what you want on the Infused 2. 3. 3 rom.

The Galaxy S II does do text reflow. You just have to enable it from settings first.

Did you hate the speed of Dolphin Brower? Was it kinda sluggish, and gave you a headache?.. Well yea, I am not here to save you from your headaches...
..However..
Dolphin Browser HD2 is coming tommorow according to Androidtapp, it brings the following features along with it:
Androidtapp.com said:
Key New Feature Enhancements in Dolphin Browser HD2:
-One of the biggest advantageous you’ll notice is the speed of the browser and how it controls. The other advantage is user interface enhancements and creative interface controls.
-In v1.2 and lower when you slide the screen from left to right your windows management panel appears, this has been opted for Bookmarks & Most Visited websites. Window management can now be found in Add-ons toolbar by longpress and sliding that panel down.
-Browse the web in Full screen.
-When you slide from right to left the installed Add-ons toolbar appears (oh, don’t forget to grab the AndroidTapp.com RSS Add-ons).
-Lastly, there are new add-ons like Adblocker, Password Manager (super convenient), and Screen Cut.

I have been using the default browser lately since it seems to meet most of my needs, but maybe this will change things. Though, I said the same about the first version..
I've been using Dolphin HD for a while and really like it, but it was slightly sluggish and lacked some basic user interface features. This could really be a contender for Fennec on Android if it gets a decent amount of attention from the extension devs.
Looks WAY improved over HD1. Can't wait.
Looks awesome! Hopefully it's comparable in speed with the Froyo stock browser. HD1 was just unusable because of its sluggishness.
It should be out today ?
Looks amazing , especially the adblock plus add-on .
=/ Yeah I can't find it anywhere; is HD2 already out?
will hd2 just be an updated version of dolphin HD ?
so that i will get an update notify on market?
or is it a complete new browser?
Give me an option to remove the tab bar and I'll use it! I like all my screen real estate, the tab bar annoys me.

Same question here.
Why don't you guys try the pre launch version that's posted in the OP?
I'm trying it already. It seems quite different from the previous dolphin HD.
Still no "on demand" for flash plugin though.
seems to be released
and it's updated to the normal dolphin
i really like that the URL bar is now hidden by default and only shown while using the menu key, more space!
yeah, its released.
HD2 is just a normal update from V1, you can get it straight from the market as an update.
Still no "on demand" option for flash
still dog slow.

yes it does, however it requires froyo with flash player installed.
p.s. i am still finding to way to switch flash on demand just like stock browser of froyo does
Am I the only one seeing no add-ons? I didn't expect them all to be there with it being a pre-launch version but i can't see any
Is anyone else having problems scrolling from side to side? Whenever I try to do so, it activates the swipe features (toolbar and bookmarks).
Is there anyway I can install the stock android browser touchwiz edition from the Galaxy S onto my Droid X? I was using my friends T-Mobile Galaxy S and really loved the browser interface vs the stock one on my Droid, so I thought since that is just a skinned/modified stock browser that it would not be that much work to install on a rooted device? Any help would be cool. Thanks a biz.
Somebody please?
Anybody please?
Please anyone can help me here?
Yeah, I would like this for the MT4G. I like the text input on the Samsung Vibrant's browser better. It brings up an actual window to type into.
anyone please?
I will donate 3 bucks to see this happen.
It's most likely not possible due to all TouchWiz apps actually needing... Well, TouchWiz. It's very deeply rooted in the system and is (was, it's a lot better since 2.2.1) a real slow pain in the ass.
So unless someone ports the whole TouchWiz over to the DX (it's not going to happen, the DX and D2 both have locked bootloaders, you can't replace the kernel), this won't work.
So, even though it just a skin and a small adjustment on the stock browser it won't work on my device because it requires touchwiz? Same goes for the HTC browser which is stock also but with better navigation controls?
I'm not sure about the Sense Browser, but I am pretty sure Sense is more than just as skin as well, just as TouchWiz (altho it works a lot better). So yeah, either the whole thing is ported (which is basically impossible) or nothing.
On a sidenote, you might want to check out the Opera Mobile (not Mini) Browser. It can't do flash as of now but it's in the works. Other than that, it has all the features the Galaxy S stock browser has and runs very smooth. It also opens up a new panel upon text input, which is really handy.
Yeah but it wastes a bit more space and speed isn't as good as the stock. I just want the stock browser with a back button in the menu bar. Hitting the softkey back to go to the previous page can be annoying if it backs you out of the browser by mistake.
anyone please?

Repeatedly asking for it won't make it more possible.
No but bumping a thread could bring it back up for a budding developer to take on the task and try it.
Is it possible to force the software keyboard to stay on when I slide the hardware keyboard out?
Sent from my non-rooted, stock eclair Epic.
It is stated in the general Android SDK documents somewhere that a long press on the menu button should activate the keyboard. Not only when you're editing text but also when you are for example in your app drawer (which comes in very handy, because typing a letter will bring you straight to all the apps starting with that letter)
Unfortunately, I've seen this behavior only on the Desire HD. Doesn't work on other devices I've tried. Maybe it does work on the NC though.

Hi there,
I use some internet browser like Dolphin and Opera, they are good enough with text size and desktop view but, i like more to use original stock android browser come with Note.
Only that feature is missing from stock Note browser.
I see there are same mod for Galaxy S II browser here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326967, but im not a developer, who can help to get it for Note browser? Im using KL7 ROM.
Thx.
Have you find something?
Haha,
Yes I found it, when ICS is coming for Note, my favorite browser is ICS browser+, have nearly all I need, including text wrap
This is a minor concern for me but I'm surprised at this user functionality and hopefully someone can shed some light on this.
I just got a verizon s3 SCH-I535 and I'm pretty annoyed that when using the browser, if you pinch to zoom in or out, you then have to remove your fingers from the screen and then re-touch it to pan/swipe around. I've been using these phones for so long that I'm in the habit of being able to zoom and pan around while in constant contact with the screen and transitioning gestures. It's much faster and fluid that way.
Transitioning from a zoom to a pan while in constant contact with the screen = DOESN'T WORK
Transitioning from a pan to a zoom while in constant contact with the screen = WORKS
I'm guessing it a samsung firmware bug but I was hoping...
a.) Someone can verify their phone does this too on stock rom so I know it's not just mine.
b.) Maybe someone is using a custom rom that this works the way I want it to.
Basically I just want to be able to zoom and pan while keeping at least one finger in constant contact with the screen. It's annoying to have to pick up and re-touch after every zoom gesture.
Thanks for any insight.
Could someone at least please verify that their phone behaves the same way? Zoom in on a web page and then, keeping one of the two fingers you zoomed with on the screen, attempt to swipe around the screen. Doesn't work for me but I have noticed it works on photos in the gallery. I even tried downloading several different browsers with no luck.
I can confirm.
Just got mine for xmas, was using sgh-t959. I dont know if you could do it on the vibrant or not. I dont think I ever tried before.
What you don't know could fill a book.
Looks like the Samsung stock browser to me. They modded the Android browser. Works correctly on Chrome and Dolphin.

Thanks! I tired a couple other browsers including Dolphin with no change, but I just downloaded Chrome and it behaves the way I would like it to. :good:
