Hi all,
I own an SGSII (international version) and I have seen themes created for stock "odexed" firmware and am wondering if any themes like this are being created for the Infuse? This would be for those who want to root but are satisfied with the stock ROM and just want to add some "bling"...
Please advise...
Thanks...

Bump... Anyone?

Wish we could do it without root! Lol
The whole point of deodexing is to make themes possible or at least MUCH easier. Theming odexed firmware is a major pain in the ass.

Hmmm... really? There are quite a few themers in the SGSII Forum that have made themes and mods for odexed firmware. I diddnt realize that it was more difficult...
Well... if any themer sees this post then I hope you will take this idea into consideration...

I know that CWM is still an iszue buf are any devs that are preparing for it by making roms? And also, is there anythinv that we, the SGS4G xda community can do to further the cause?

Start with it:
(Nun's Apktool)

I suggest picking a rom, and then learning to create a theme for it. Theming allows you to learn the tools you need and allows you to get familiar with how a rom is put together.
Just a suggestion...

That's a great suggestion nun! Also just look inside of a rom, get a deal of what it looks like...theming will help with getting used to the structure of roms...even if they are just simple themes

,Thanks these are very helpful tips, I will start by themeing it seems like the easiest way to learn, I've started looking inside of the roms without altering anything, now say I make a few themes for other roms do I need permission from the dev? I do not want to step on anyone's toes

NOTE: Doesn't seem to be working when email widget is active. Am working on it.
Hey All,
In preparing my upcoming ROM, I was trying to stop the stock TouchWiz launcher from lagging when you exit out of an app and then scroll to another page. Anyway, I believe I found the culprit in Workspace.smali, and was wondering if I could get a few people to test out a modded TW launcher APK and (hopefully) confirm that this is, in fact, working, and is not some freak of my phone/ROM. Of course, any reports of unwanted behavior as a result of installing the mod would be great, as well. I have been using for a few hours and all is good here.
This is for VRALG1 based deodexed ROMs only. It is competely stock, except for the mod described above and some PNG optimization. If your ROM has a modded/themed Touchwiz launcher, this will remove any such mods or theming!!! It will also remove some widgets...Please make a NANDROID BACKUP and backup your sec.launcher2.apk in /system/app before trying this out!!! If you do not know what this means, please, please do not try this. As usual, you are testing this mod at you own risk, and I can't be responsible for anything that may happen to you, your device or others as a result of trying this mod.
Anyway, push the attached apk to /system/app (or copy with root explorer, etc.) and you should be good to go. I didn't need to reboot, but you can if you want. Should be no need to set permissions, but you may want to set them if you wish (again, if you don't understand this, don't try it!).
Scott- if you want to odex this so users of your ROM can test, feel free to post in the thread.
Mods - If this post is redundant (I searched all over, but didn't see it), please let me know...
Thanks!
Steve
I'll try it out now for ya and let you know. Thanks
Edit...seems to be working fine, and I'm even on my upcoming odexed ROM and it works great

Willing to try. I have insurance and if the wife *****es at me for rooting I'll just smash my phone and get a new one. Got my Vivow as a back up

Original isn't built off anything but source. A lot of devs use CM or AOKP as a base. Original devs don't...
Sent from my SGH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I gotcha. Thank u for the reply. Just asking cause there isn't much in tgr original forum. So basically most development isn't original or based off someone else's work. Thanks.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
That sounds a little harsh. Lol.
CM has a tried and true base. Many devs use the root66 debloated as well. Anytime you use another base, it can't go in original.

It can be original in the sense that they created some features or something unique about it, but if it's using another ROM as a base rather than something created from source, it belongs in the Android Development forum.
No need to discredit that thread of being devoid of talent

Hey. I wasn't trying to be ignorant. I know the devs that use an original ROMs base are extremely talented. I came off the wrong way and was not trying to discredit anyone. These devs have an amazing ability that I wish I had

I use ROM ToolBoxPro. Now I want to customize my status bar icons. When I install certain things like the battery, it doesn't change. Was wondering if you guys can tell me why. Also tried changing the status bar color itself through ROM toolbox and it does not work. Would any of you guys happen to know how to make it work or maybe another app that can help me customize stuff like that? Also looking for icon packages. Thanks.

Does your ROM use Themes? If not it's probably not going to work no matter what app you use. If your rom does support themes then I don't really know. Sorry if I'm not much help.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using Tapatalk 2
How will I know if my ROM supports themes? Will say on the ROM thread?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
It usually does say if it does or doesn't in the thread. If not you can always ask.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using Tapatalk 2
I believe in order for any themes to work it has to be completely deodexed. I know it doesn't work CyanogenMod and I believe it's because it works with it's own theme engine which you can download themes for with the ROM Toolbox. Otherwise, the only ROM I've got to work with it was a stock deodexed ROM.

but im not sure if rom toolbox pro can change the statusbar icons
like it could on cm7 roms because of the way jb is setup
with different names of the icons
i could be wrong hopefully someone with more knowledge will jump in
and help answer
