[Q] How do you turn off the hotspot timeout? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I just went back to the stock gingerbread rom for the G2x from using CM7 and the one feature I'm really missing is not having to have the wifi hotspot timeout. I use tasker to turn the hotspot on when I'm at work so that I can teather my tablet and then have it turn off when I leave but its annoying to have to turn it on several times throughout the day after having it time out. Does anyone have a way to keep it on?

Bump!
There has to be a way! Perhaps a terminal command?

[Q] WIFI problem after 2.2 update/Voodoo

I just updated my Mesmerize to the official 2.2 froyo and am currently using the latest voodoo kernel. My wifi only works right after I turn on my phone and says "error" in the Wireless and Networks settings after I try and press the Wifi button in the status bar after about 8 hours of the phone being on. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? I know it's not my networks that I am using because they have always worked with 2.1.
Did you have voodoo installed prior to upgrading to the 2.2. And if so. Did you disable voodoo before flashing the 2.2.
Only reason I ask is I have seen a lot of warnings about that sort of thing messing stuff up.

Yes I made sure that I disabled lagfix before upgrading to 2.2, everything else on my phone is working great other than wifi occasionally not responding.
I havent really had problems but my wifi reception sucks compared to my iPod Touch. I could have full signal on my Touch but have only 1 or 2 bars on my Mes. also, my router is about 20 feet away right now and I got 1 bar with nothing obstruction line of sight.
Mine does that too. If you press on the wifi button in settings where it says error it will turn on.

I am also getting the same wifi won't turn on error... 2.2 jt's kernel
I just got the updated update and haven't had any issues at home or at work on the hotel's wifi. I suggest getting the newest update. I am on us cellular btw.

Wifi Switching On/Off On It's Own?

Hey, I'm using an NS4G and I've noticed three times that my wifi turns on and starts scanning for networks without me ever explicitly telling it to. Any ideas?

Do you have it set to never sleep or the default android. Default sleep when screen is off.

Mine does this when im a bit too far away from the router.... weak wifi unfortunately
I'm using CM7 nightly 8 (Flashing to 12 right now) and my wifi sleep policy is set to never.
I noticed this problem happening while I was at my friend's high school graduation. I had the wifi off since I wasn't at home, and multiple times throughout the ceremony I saw it back on without me ever telling it to.

[REQ] wireless network manager that works

Has anybody had any luck with wireless network connection managers on the Charge? I used Green Power on the Fascinate, but it doesn't seem to work here. Even if I have 4G disabled, data will not turn on when the phone wakes up. Active data when the phone is sleeping is killing my battery.

Are you talking about wifi? If so then you can set it to turn off when the phone is asleep. Settings-wifi settings-advanced settings.
If you're talking about 3g/4G data then I guess you'd just toggle it on and off via the pull down switch?

I'm mostly talking about the 3G/4G data. I manually toggle wifi when I'm at home, and have it off when I'm out. Green Power did a good job managing the mobile data while the phone was sleeping, but it's not working well on the Charge. It will turn the data off after the screen turns off, but it won't turn back on when the phone is unlocked. I'm trying Juice Defender, bit so far, I'm not sure if it is working, since the free version doesn't have too many custom settings.
*update* JD isn't working for me. Mobile data was still on while the screen was off for at least 10 minutes. uninstalled. I'll keep trying. */update*
I have also noticed that this phone does not sleep when it's charging, it locks in at 100 MHz when the phone should be sleeping (never saw this on the Fascinate). I'm running PBJ_voodoo under stock rooted rom.

So it puts in like airplane mode when sleeping, Pretty slick.
I would still go into your wireless settings to have your wifi turn off when at sleep for when you're at home. It saved me a ton of battery at the house and that feature is not available for most phones.

Somewhat like airplane mode, except only for mobile data, voice signal stays active.

I can confirm that both Green power and JD do not work for data control...well JD does sorta...it will turn the 4G off and on but it will have issues turning it back on if it changed to 3g..there is a mode that you can highlight if it has troubles re engaging the data but it takes a few minutes and then it totally resets the connection including the phone service...at least thats what happened for me. Both control the wifi fine though. I have yet to find a service that can control the 4g consistently but I would like one
WTF?!? I live just outside of an LTE zone, so I have my network set to CDMA. I've gone all day with data turned off, and battery is still at 30% (16.5 hours since unplugged). I've switched the data on a couple times during the day, but only for short periods, which is what these apps are supposed to do. It just sucks that they don't work. Even on a good day with the fascinate, I never got close to this kind of battery. *sigh*

WiFi fixing app for sleep?

Does anyone know of a good app to fix WiFi on these phones? I remember the nexus having one. I am always having to cycle wifi off/on to jump on AP's right around me. I have wifi set to never turn off, I'm using CM7.1 and have had a few radio versions.
Thanks!
I'm also interested in a fix. Toggling wifi off/on isn't the worst, but it gets old. Seems to happen after connected to the same wifi signal for 12+ hours. I'm on latest cm7, default kernel, wifi set to never sleep, etc.
Try WiFi fixer on the market.

[Q] how to avoid sleep mode during the night?

During the night my HTC one s s3 goes into some kind of sleep mode, which turns off my internet or WiFi connection, preventing me to receive messages via Skype, gTalk... or emails. Is there any way to avoid going in this mode, some kind of "always on", I don't know... I couldn't find a setting for this, searched everywhere... Thanks in advance

If you go into advanced settings under Wi-Fi, you can tell Wi-Fi to never sleep. That should solve your issue?
Also, are you on stock?

Not the same thing. If I remember right this turns all data off and also does other things as well and the only fix I can think of is the tweak app that some roms have.
Stock 4.0.4 Europe. WiFi is set to never sleep (keep WiFi on during sleep >> ALWAYS) and it sleeps all right during the night. Any setting for 3G? I have an unlimited data plan, so it would be ok to keep it always on.
Edit: best WiFi performance is set off. Would this make any difference?

Don't think it will since its a power saver feature that you having issues with but like I said it can be turned off with custom rom.
