[Q] 3G Vodafone Egypt does not work - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

after applying Tiamat-Xoom-Rom-2.2.1.Moray or any other custom rom Vodafone Egypt does not connect to internet although i have GSM signal and i have set the APN manually but still does not work, i have tried Etisalat and it works fine, after restoring the rooted stock rom everything works fine, can anyone help me

solarnz said it would work with european devices (HSDPA)
This rom supports all wifi devices, US Verizon 3g devices and European devices.
but i am not sure if he tested it himself on one of them, it might be 3g drivers are incomplete on that rom. or also it could be vodafone's fault as your xoom works fine with etisalat and they use the same type of 3g bands.

the rooted stock rom works fine

then it's the 3g drivers from tiamat's rom as i mentioned, contact solarnz or submit a bug to his rom page about your issue

he does not know as he has a wifi xoom

try the latest 2.2.2 release it might have some improvements for 3g xooms but do a clean install with wipe and check if it works

Getting ENergyROm running on INdian Touch Pro
Hi Francis,
I saw your signature and realised you might be able to help. I have a Touch pro too.
I flashed Energy ROM (the latest Sep 6 release).
After I did so, EDGE stopped working. I am in India too which means that the Touch Pro here has the 7201 processor and not the 7206 processor as is there in the rest of the world. 7201 doesn't support 3G. Max it can handle is EDGE.
In Energyrom, I saw the 3G option (on/off) in Communication Settings. Data connection (on/off) was also there. I could not turn data connection on at all.
I then went back to the HTC India official update that came in around Mar 09 on the HTC India site.
Before flashing Energy Rom I had this version anyway. In this version, the
3G option in comm. settings was never seen.
When I went back to HTC's rom, EDGE didn't work. I couldn't turn data connection on in this ROM. The funny thing is that the processor name had become 7206. I had read about this on another thread that flashing ROMs that are built for 7201 makes the processor name show up wrongly.
I updated rilphone for the 1.14.25.35 radio.
Even that did not help.
Then I again flashed using HTC India mar 09 ROM. This solved the problem.
You seem to have EnergyROM Sep 6 running?? How did you do it? Btw, am I missing any operator specific settings that I need to do. I have an Airtel Mumbai connection. It is now running on Mobile Office (EDGE).
Thanks!
Kunal

Solution to your Problem
Hey i am from India too
It took me a while to figure out but this is how it works
Energy ROM uses a different version of Connection Manager than other ROMS around here
So u need to set up manually. Its easy
Go to Start>Settings>Connections>Connection and go to the 2nd tab and delete the aircel settings listed there and then go to the first tab and Type the name of your Operator . For eg: "Vodafone" if u use Voadfone
Then switch off the 3G mode since our model doesnt support 3G
Thats it
Enjoy
Try to setup the manual connections first on EnergyROM. Dont delete the aircell though as deleting that causes some issues sometimes. Let us know if all this worked

No 3G on Optimus T after rooting & custom rom

Hi,
I have an LG Optimus T with T-Mobile (G509), and network data (3G/E) used to work just fine. I've unlocked the phone, rooted it using z4root, then flashed the DarkMoon rom (2.2.1, G500, based on V10c). Since that point I've lost the 3G or even Edge network data. I can only connect to the internet via Wifi. I can't even get GPS location on Maps if the Wifi is off.
Any clues? (I'm still new to Android).
Thanks a million in advance!
As I told u in a private email., I will send u a file to fix this problem, and in my next rom upgrade things will be fixed
Will this ROM work on the Optimus for Sprint??
the same thing happened to me. Can i have the file to fix this to?
I also am having the same issue with my phone. After rooting it worked fine for a couple of weeks but now I am unable to use 3G. I am only able to use data when connecting using wifi. Can you send me the file as well? I would really appreciate it. Here are my phone specs below:
LG Optimus V
Android Version 2.2.1
Baseband Version VM670ZV4_60401001
Software Version VM670ZV4
Hardware Version 1.2

[Q] Used Select radio band on Razr HD Maxx, now will not work in the UK

I'd been using my Razr HD Maxx xt926 in the UK on the stock ROM 4.1.2 but could not get WiFi hotspot working as it called back to Verizon and told me I was not subscribed.
I unlocked the boot loader, installed TWRP did a backup then flashed with LiquidSmooth 4.2.2 all good so far but could not connect to the cell network and make calls or data. Then I found the *#*#4636#*#* and Select radio band menu... in the LiquidSmooth ROM there are various bands to choose from non or which worked and no European Band. I restored my Standard ROM where the Radio was working then I took a look at *#*#4636#*#* and Select radio band menu and choose USA Band. This turned out to be a bad idea as now I cannot get the radio to work, all Im seeing is the signal meter with a red no entry symbol on it.
Since then I've tried: Wiping / Formatting use TWRP, Going back to LiquidSmooth, Eclipse 1.3, CM 10.1 and various fiddling with the Networks options in setting and this (but its for the US) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542
Any help much appreciated as the only other options I've read about are walking in to a Versizon shop where they can flash it back to standard, but I cannot do that being in London :s

Need help with rom for I497

Im working on making a rom for the I497 using the kitchen
Im so far that I have a flashable working rom
Only have one issue that the radio does not work (or sim)
baseband version is unknown, and basicly all radio related info shows unknown under the about device tab and status
wifi works fine ,but it seems the radio is non existent
When I tab on the mobile network option it tells me I have to insert a sim to access network services
The sim is in and when I restore back a working version it all works fine
This rom is a extracted version of my tablet of the 4.1.2 jb update we had recently
I have to have a deodexed version before i can change things like voice capable
there are no jb custom roms available for this tablet ,so with my non existing knowledge i had to dive in to unknown territory
So far i got everything set up including mount paths etc , but somehow there is a link to the radio missing ????
Any help will be appreciated

what's causing slow network speeds?

I'm running the KitKat+ ROM I found in the development section plus faux kernel, I flashed over jellybean and applied fix v2 so I'm getting no problems uninstalling apps or entering security settings. Thing is when I'm at home or even outside I get really slow network speeds of about 0.4 Mbps down, and in settings-aboutphone-status it switches between hspa and hspa+,but down the road about 350 metres at my kids school I get up to 7 Mbps down,I'm just wondering what version of the moto g is this KitKat+ rom based on,I own the UK retail version and was thinking if its based on a us version would it cause problems with connecting to a UK network or have problems with hspa+ in the UK based on what base this ROM is using, just throwing it out there.
Have you tried setting it to GSM auto (PRL) ?
My previous phone (HTC One X+) was running BlackBean rom and was set to CDMA by default, meant that i had to reset to GSM after every reboot.
I have experienced this also on a UK XT1032 running US Global GSM 4.4.2 - Data works but often slowly and stops entirely for periods of time. I had assumed it was the ROM and I'm waiting for the UK 4.4.2 stock firmware image which I expect will solve it. Perhaps unrelated, but I've noticed Opera Mini will not work over 3G in this ROM, but it works fine on Wifi.
EDIT: I was just thinking; that by fastboot flashing the Stock US firmware image, the UK modem firmware may also have been replaced. That could explain the problems. Flashing back the 4.4.2 UK modem firmware might fix it.
My Baseband version:
MSM8626BP_1032.340.63.00R
Can someone with a US Global GSM XT1032 confirm their Baseband version? Nevermind, confirmed via google. UK Tesco XT1032 running 4.4.2 also has the same Baseband version.
You could try flashing the UK stock 4.4.2 'NON-HLOS.bin' which appears to include the modem firmware. However if I remember correctly, flashing an incorrect radio firmware is one of the few ways to irrecoverably brick a handset.
Safest bet is to wait for the full UK stock 4.4.2 firmware image and fastboot flash that. In future when you flash a different ROM, i.e CM11, you are likely to use CWM/TWRP and the existing UK modem / radio firmware will remain untouched.
If someone wants to correct me on this, please do.
