[Q] Used Select radio band on Razr HD Maxx, now will not work in the UK - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd been using my Razr HD Maxx xt926 in the UK on the stock ROM 4.1.2 but could not get WiFi hotspot working as it called back to Verizon and told me I was not subscribed.
I unlocked the boot loader, installed TWRP did a backup then flashed with LiquidSmooth 4.2.2 all good so far but could not connect to the cell network and make calls or data. Then I found the *#*#4636#*#* and Select radio band menu... in the LiquidSmooth ROM there are various bands to choose from non or which worked and no European Band. I restored my Standard ROM where the Radio was working then I took a look at *#*#4636#*#* and Select radio band menu and choose USA Band. This turned out to be a bad idea as now I cannot get the radio to work, all Im seeing is the signal meter with a red no entry symbol on it.
Since then I've tried: Wiping / Formatting use TWRP, Going back to LiquidSmooth, Eclipse 1.3, CM 10.1 and various fiddling with the Networks options in setting and this (but its for the US) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542
Any help much appreciated as the only other options I've read about are walking in to a Versizon shop where they can flash it back to standard, but I cannot do that being in London :s

[Q] Xoom on wrong baseband

I changed the baseband of my Xoom from GSM/UMTS to USA by a mistake.
No Idea how to reset this to european settings.
The mistake happened using the app "Netzwerk" by Phillipp Mangelow.
Since then there is no chance to get an internet connection.
All settings i can directly access are ok.
The above named app has an error and offers only "USA" as selection of baseband.
Has anyone an idea how to reset this or knows an app which modifies this setting?
Xoom without radio is not even a half xoom
Kind regards,
Willy
Try tiamat new rom, there is a possibility to change it back to EURO mode
Hi,
i use a international version of motorola xoom mz601 in india and have updated to android 3.1 and use the latest baseband n_01.83.35p.
after this update the band changed to USA band 800Mhz? i cannot use any network 2G or 3G and the motorola doesn't show any network operators.
i really want to revert back the settings.now how can i downgrade my baseband and what commands i need to execute also i have tried moving to stock 3.0.1 but no change in baseband.
any apk file that would help me change the band?
thank you.
Please help
If you are rooted, and if you have a previous backup done thru recovery before, just go to recovery, advanced restore and restore system only. It should bring back your baseband.

What I did was go back to a stock 3.1 provider firmware. Being in India I used Original rom. I flashed boot, system, data and recovery. At that point the 3g radio still wont work, Let it do the OTA updates to bring it to 3.2.2 and it will start working, I think one of the OTA updates flashes the modem and or bootloader and resets it to the correct band.
I could then go back to a custom rom and it was all good, I make sure I stay away form the band settings in future.

Rogers One X on AT&T - LTE Trouble

I ordered an unlocked Rogers HTC One X to use on at&t, which I received yesterday (Wednesday). When I got the device, I inserted my SIM card, added the "at&t pta" APN (which I found here on XDA) and connected just fine to at&t's LTE network. No troubles through the rest of the day.
This morning (Thursday), I noticed I only had "4G" signal, i.e. not connected to LTE. I checked in the mobile data settings, under Network Mode, and saw that the GSM/WCDMA auto was checked. I switched that over to the GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto, LTE showed up in the status bar, but I had zero data connection. This has been the case all day today. The LTE symbol is there, but only the Up arrow blinks between white and black; the Down arrow does not light up at all, so no data on LTE.
- HSPA data works fine
- my at&t plan is definitely provisioned for LTE (I've been using a couple of other LTE devices in the last few months with no trouble)
- LTE data definitely worked yesterday (speedtest showed over 15mbps down and 11 up)
- I did put my SIM card back into my Galaxy Nexus for a couple of hours last night before putting it back into the One X (I'm thinking this is somehow related, but can't figure out)
- I've tried a couple other at&t APN settings (Cingular wap - fine for 3G data, but no LTE, 'Phone', again fine for 3G data, no LTE)
- My SIM card is indeed a micro-SIM and is only a couple of months old, at most
Any ideas? I'm pretty much out of ways to troubleshoot at this point, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I think there is a specific AT&T APN that you need to plug in to get LTE enabled. Did you make sure your SIM is LTE compatible? Are you running the stock Rogers ROM or did you install a custom ROM? Is your bootloader unlocked? Have you tried updating the radio to AT&T default radio?
Just wanted to knock some of those questions out there.
I think the AT&T PTA APN is the LTE setting that's out there. I haven't come across any others.
I'm completely stock (it is a Rogers rom), haven't yet rooted or unlocked the bootloader or anything like that. Nothing has been flashed.
Actually, I just realized I ran the software update last night before bed, which put me on software version 1.94.631.3. Android version 4.0.3, Sense 4.0. Now I'm willing to bet this is the cause of my trouble. But HSPA working and LTE not working is still puzzling.
I wonder if it's the radio version not being 100% compatible. Are you willing to unlocking and flashing a custom Rom based on an at&t Rom? That could rule out a software issue assuming your apn settings are good.
I have the Telus version and had lte issues until just recently on CleanROM.

I was thinking about going through the unlocking/flashing process this weekend actually, as I'm pretty sure there is an issue with the radio like you said.
Just need to find some good tutorials to get me started.
Thanks!
Check out the guide I have in my signature. It's for the Telus variant, but the Spoof-CID would work with the Rogers version as well. Also, the Rogers version is, by default, unlockable though HTCDev.com so you're good there. The step by step instructions on HTCDev is pretty straightforward, but having a tool like the Spoof-CID program helps in getting the required information sooner.
Definitely read up on it and ask as many questions as possible. Good luck!
Great, I'll check out your link.
Thanks for the help.
So I managed to get LTE working!
I figured I would at least flash a different radio.
- Started out with the htcdev.com unlock method, which was pretty much painless.
- Used the method in Athrun88's signature to get TWRP flashed over to the One X
- Downloaded (and flashed) one of the CM10 nightlies
- Downloaded (and flashed) the AT&T 1.85 radio file
- Dialed *#*#INFO#*#* from the deviced and selected GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto network mode
- Got LTE!
Flashing CM10 might not have been completely necessary of course, but I couldn't resist, and it's been pretty great so far.
Make sure you go and knock out the superCID hack too. That way when things go wrong, u can use the 1.85 at&t ruu and skip all that in the future:beer:
Hi SBA1226
Thanks for sharing. I had the same problem after doing the Rogers update and thought the At&t LTE service was out in my area.
I had flashing experience with my gnex, but never dealt with HTC phone. What exactly is that Spoof-CID.bat procedure as described in Athrun88's guide? Was that the guide that you follow? Would really appreciate if someone can point me to a step-by-step (maybe with picture ) guide.
Another question I have is do you loose functionality like wifi hotspot or media link HD when you flash custom rom like CM10 or cleanrom 4.5 DE?
Thanks.
I did not use the spoof-CID in Athrun88's guide, but I did use the rest of the guide to get TWRP recovery flashed to my One X.
You'll want to start out by going to the htcdev.com site, registering, and following the step by step instructions there to get your bootloader unlocked. They make it really easy to complete.
Once this is done, you should still be in fast boot mode, so just follow Athrun88's guide to flash TWRP, and you're on your way to flashing ROMs.
I can't speak for CleanROM, but I've had no issues with wifi tethering in CM10.
Also, there are quite a few guides on YouTube that I found really helpful.
Good luck!
Thanks. I will try it this weekend.
By the way, is there a simple way to back to stock? Thanks.
I was in the same situation with a Rogers One XL, no LTE on CM10, and here's what I have done so far to get LTE working, though I'm not quite done.
1. RUU back to 1.94 Rogers (from this thread): http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/sho...X-XL-LTE-RUU-s
2. Unlocked the bootloader using the official process, flashed TWRP
3. Flashed the stock rooted 1.85 ATT ROM from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
4. Flashed the ATT 1.85 firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694012
I had LTE now.I then flashed to ATT 2.20 ROM & FW (not RUU) and LTE still worked.
I assume it was a RIL/FW compatibility/requirement for ATT LTE, so going to CM10 should work, but I have not tried.
Hope that helps some.

[Q] Unlock US Cellular Galaxy S3 To Use On GSM

Hi, first off I know that this is the Verizon section but there isn't a spot for U.S Cellular. OK, I have received a Samsung Galaxy S3 Model Number
SCH-R530 because the screen is barely cracked. The person got a new one and now I have this one. I have I Wireless for cell service which is a T-Mobile
affiliate. I Wireless uses GSM and I have a Mini SIM card in my Galaxy Nexus. When I dial the *#06# on the Galaxy S3 a MEID number comes up. When I
take the battery off and look there there is one IMEI and 2 MEID serial numbers. If I am correct I think IMEI is for GSM. This Galaxy S3 also has a SIMcard in
it which I thought CDMA doesn't use. It is a micro SIM and says US Cellular 4G LTE on it. Is there any way I could unlock this Galaxy S3 to use on my GSM
network? Please help. Thanks

Cdma only uses sim card for LTE. Just pointing it out lol.

So this Galaxy S3 won't work on my network?
It will work for gsm networks but you have to be rooted, edit the apn and i beleive you can only run 2g data. There is a thread about it somewhere around here on a howto for tmobile. And to the other person who said the sim is only for lte is correct, for verizon that is

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013647&highlight=t-mobile I would try it on a rooted JB rom from US Cellular, dont use the verzion rom of course
Any one has tried and succeeded?
If you root it then upgrade to AOKP 4.1.2 custom ROM or any other custom or stock style ROM thats 4.1.X (Jelly Bean), then there is a REALLY easy trick. I know it's harder for US Cellular only because they are still using 4.04 ICS which doesn't support the menu you need to do this, you need JB for this trick, if you have it stock like on T-mobile then no rooting or upgrading needed, but US Cellular it is. I used it to unlock my tmobile, and my friend and mom both have us cellular. After you Unlock it you can always go back to stock if you want, just make sure and after you root but before you upgrade the ROM you do a nandroid backup to go back to. After you have a Jelly Bean ROM installed,
1. Type *#197328640# and it brings up the factory service menu (very usefull)
2. Select (1) UMTS
3. Select (1)Debug Screen
4. Select (8) Phone Control
5. Select (6)Network lock
6. Inside the Network lock menu, Pick option (3) Perso SHA256 off, Passed that is a screen that says something like "no options in this menu, current command is 11863", Wait for 30-60 secs, from there hit the menu button on bottom left of phone to bring up options, Select "Back".
7. The last command should have brought you back into the Network Lock menu, at the bottom is (4) NW Lock NV Data Initialize, Select it. You might be asked a saftey are you sure, some people not, after it begins that process wait a good 60 sec the reboot. Thats it! Phones Unlocked
It would be good for you to root and upgade a custom JB 4.1.x or higher ROM anyways as they have support and menu options for working on all CDMA/GSM/LTE Networks. Even if you unlock your phone using the IMEI number and paying 20$ for the unlock code, you will still need JB. They also have apps on the play store specifically for galaxy s3's, capable of unlocking for allot cheaper if your phones rooted.
Good Luck!
Whether us cellular model has sim card slot for GSM? Verizon sgs3 model has sim card slot for gsm.
Thanks doesn't hurt....

How to use GS3 US Cellular for GSM , IS there any rom supports GSM & CDMA as rom verizon ?

unlocking sim card
I have rooted my U.S cellular samsung galaxy sch-R530U, but I am wondering if anyone knows how to unlock the sim card? I tried so many ways to unlock it, but no luck so far. Thank you.
So, let me know if I'm correct
I have doing some research online, and I just want to know if I'm correct, Please, please someone answer me:
1. All Samsung Galaxy SIII, by US Cellular, even though using CDMA, ALL contains a SIM Slot for GSM network? (being one of the few)
2. Since it contains a SIM Slot, in order to work in a GSM network, one alternative could be to get it Rooted, and then use an Unlock Software?
Please somebody answers me, I bough a SGSIII on Ebay, and just found out about this.
Thanks!
Does it works for Us Cellulars?

I use cyanogen, install 4.1.2 and 4.2.2, I can not bring up the hidden menu any help??
Hey Everyone..... I'm here to say that this DOES WORK just fine and dandy. But there is a step that no one is telling anyone or else no one knew. You have to first unlock the hidden menu before it is accessible. Go to your dialer and type the following in and then change to "Enable". Press *#22745927 to enable hidden menu. Once done with that go back and follow what the previous guy said to do........

[Q]

Hi everybody,
I have been following XDA for years now and have always been able to find answers to my questions here regarding flashing for a HTC Desire, Galaxy SII or my current Galaxy S4 I9505, rooted running a 4.3 GPE rom. Baseband is XXUDMB. Recovery is CWM 6.0.4.4.
After following the thread GOOGLE EDITION 4.4.2 by Danvdh, Kryten2k35 & Ktoonsez I decided to flash. Love this rom, it's superfast!!! One thing didn't work for me: the phone kept losing connection with my Dutch mobile carrier Vodafone (no data, phone calls not possible), especially after locking the screen. To my understanding the rom does not ship with LTE of GSM modems, so it should not be the problem that a 4.4 LTE modem causes sound, data or WiFi problems when on the "old" bootloader (pre KNOX). After flashing the baseband still shows XXUDMB.
I tried *#*#4636#*#* and setting network type to GSM. However, the menu is not the same as my current 4.3 and the option LTE/GSM auto (PRL) is not available.
Reverted back to my 4.3 rom for now, but really hope somebody knows how to solve the issue.

[Completed] AT&T LTE signal issue, Cyanogenmod 11 build cm-11-20150111-NIGHTLY-m4

I would have rather posted this in the forum thread for Cyanogen 11 for the m4, but I cannot post there.
HTC One Mini (m4) had AT&T stock software (Android 4.?) with Sense 5. I installed the latest stable Cyanogen 10.2 build using TWRP. I decided to use a different phone so I didn't try anything after installing 10.2. So RUU flashed "RUU_M4_UL_K44_SENSE60_MR_Cingular_US_4.13.502.3_Radio_1.29.40g.00.19_10.32.40.1115L_release_385202_signed_with_hboot" (which is AT&T Stock Android 4.4.2). I also installed an AT&T Sense 6 update and relocked the bootloader. Later, I decided to use the Mini. So I unlocked the bootloader again (which wipes all user data), and installed TWRP recovery again. I did a factory reset from TWRP, and cleared the cache and dalvik. I installed Cyanogen cm-11-20150111-NIGHTLY-m4. I wiped the cache and dalvik again for good measure. I then installed the google apps for KitKat. The install went perfectly and I have not had ANY issues with the ROM at all, save one.
There is an AT&T LTE tower right off the exit ramp where I work. I attempted to toggle on LTE using the quick settings in the status bar. The toggle remains on, but I cannot receive LTE signal. In Settings -> Mobile networks, I am unable to select "LTE (preferred)" unless I first put the phone in airplane mode. LTE will remain checked, but I observed when I am near that LTE tower, the setting reverts to "3G". If I enter phone setup via *#*#4636*#*#, i cannot make any setting other than WCDMA preferred unless I turn off the radio. Again, when i get near the tower, the setting will revert to WCDMA only. THe Advance Signal Status app shows n/a for everything under LTE (4G) Signal Info.
I installed the ROM without a simcard. I'm on an LTE-enabled plan. Another stock device on my plan can receive LTE. I've set up my APN to the letter per AT&T's website. I even added fota like the stock rom had (even tho i'll never be doing fota updates w/ a custom ROM).
I've read on the net it may be a bad sim card, but i had the same problem on an LG Nitro running cm 11 latest nightly (brand new LTE enabled sim). I've also read that maybe AT&T has to specifically input my phone's IMEI for LTE to work (this was my wife's company phone before tho; i'm sure the IMEI was in the system). Anyhow place greater weight to the words of XDA over other sites.
Could this be some type of baseband issue?
Hi,
You will need to register on XDA and ask for help in the thread you downloaded the rom from. Members under 10 posts can post, it will be directed automatically to the devices Q&A section, along will all other new members postings.
Rom issues should always be reported in rom threads. As well as reading the opening post for known issues, and the last several pages to see if your issue has been discussed.
Good luck!
