Hello, just curious if there was a way to make a shortcut (with icon) to settings page. HTC Home has one to Programs but would like to have one for Settings too. Would love to get rid of the Start Button.... I have searched but not really found what I am looking for....
Thanks.
not too sure about the actual syntax for the link to the settings folder but this list will show you how to make a direct link to a particular setting...

Cheers
Thanks, but still looking for a way to link to the settings pages, like if I was to click settings from the start bar, but have the link in Home's Application Launcher...
I was looking for a good launcher program that could be linked to the search button.
I have tried quickdial ... which u can set apps, or contats to launch but u cannot link the program to launch from the search key. I asked developer and he said that not that many people asked for it so until there are more demands .. its a no go

I have also tried swipepad .. but it does not link to the search key
http://www.appbrain.com/app/swipepad-beta/mobi.conduction.swipepad.android
its in beta but sometimes hard to launch and the bottom row does not show up
tried app launcher
does the job and links to searchkey but lack of customization and the icons are real small

tried launchkey
also not the prettiest but has an option to pick an application to launch with search key .. i tried linking quickdial using this application to search key but it works then stops... contacted developer with no resolution

I know there is pretty much an application out there to do everything .. the hardest thing is just to find them.
i have used circle launcher and shortcut launcher but i would rather the search key link me to my favorite most used apps ... i am all about speed
there are some other apps that bring up another homescreen with pressing the search key but it seems they are allot heavier type of app that bogs and slows down the phone being that u can link widgets to it
this is my solution ... Quick Launch

I use this application to link to quickdial and it works flawlessly !!
u can also set home button double tap to launch another application.

Hi all, it's been a LONG time since I was on Android and a part of this forum !
OK, so where are the home screen bookmarks saved ? How to edit them and change the icons and / or names ?
(I am speaking of a rooted device with full file system access. I do not want to use 3rd party or Play Store apps...)
***EDIT: Using the stock HTC Sense launcher, not NOVA or any other launcher...
***EDIT: ( In addition to just web apps, this could include any shortcut link or app on home screen / desktop ... )
I have searched for HOURS and can't figure out where the link(s) is /are saved.
With iOS there was a folder called WEBCLIPS and you could edit them there. (The Webclips / web apps / bookmark links)
Also in iOS you could edit under Applications for the apps. You can modify the names and icons as such.
There has to be an XML or file or something on Android that can be edited, right ?
I found searching that the saved web link can contain a <link = whatever.png> from the ORIGINAL web site,
(From here: https://www.mollerus.net/tom/blog/2010/06/web_app_homescreen_icons_in_android.html )
But I can not figure out where they are saved afterwards to go back and edit.
EDIT: I have tried a few apps from the Play store just to see what they do, and if THEY can do it, it has to be possible manually. (Som e don't work correctly, or at all, but ShortCut to URL works except you can only choose from installed icons.
Anyone know or have any hints ?
Thank you !
I know that some of is missing the appdrawer, but there's a work around , without installing a new launcher. Some of you might already know it, If you pinch out from anywhere form your homescreen, you'll acces the hidden application window. If you miss the appdrawer, you can use this as appdrawer, you simply add all the apps that you don't want to be shown on the desk/home screen.
How can you get the apss back on the homescreen ?
Just found it
Now the apps are even sort automatically in alphabet order on the homescreen .
Great.
Hope my english is not too bad

Click to collapse
You get the apps back on the homescreen by pressing ( + ) and remove the checkmark on apps you want to be on homescreen.
