(CANT POST IN THREAD! Too much of a "new user")
I've been using infused since before 2.0, and even before i had my infuse i used to use cognition 4. So when i saw a rom that was developed with a lot of the same features as COG4 i was incredibly excited. Until yesterday, i was runnin 2.1.0. your manual update instructions say to just boot into CWM and install the update. Which i did, of course, like it told me, but i had forgotten when flashing any COGNITION rom you HAVE to disable voodoo before you can update. The instructions dont say to turn off voodoo before doing so. Now when i try to turn on my wifi it scans and then reboots. Also my market is constantly coming up and force closing. I tried a full wipe with the full version of 2.2.0 with disabling voodoo. Its done nothing, my wifi is still broken and the market continues to crash every time i screen on.
i strongly urge the developer to correct his update instructions so people dont end up like me!
about to try updating to 2.2.2..with turning voodoo off..ill post back if everything is fixed..
edit: Wifi worked after a couple reboots! Market still randomly pops up and says its force closed, it also crashes every time i try to use it..how annoying.. could we get a rollback market app or something?
Um, what the heck does Cognition have to do with Infused? They are completely different ROMs.
There is no need to disable Voodoo Lagfix prior to flashing Infused, or when flashing an Infused v2 update. Period. Actually, there is no need to disable it prior to installing ANY Gingerbread ROM that exists for the Infuse.
Lagfix has nothing to do with your problems - my guess is that your update zip got corrupted when you downloaded it or you did an improper TiBu restore at some point.
I had recent issues with marketplace force closing upon boot and than randomly throughout the day (even when not using) went into settings > applications > manage applications > market > clear data, hasnt happend again since

Can someone with a Bell issued Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 tell me if they've had success with any of Darky's latest roms?
When I got my phone 3 weeks ago, I installed 8.1. I had a problem where the phone answer app would crash when I received a phone call.
I upgraded to 9.0.1 when it was released and the phone app crash was solved. However, other apps would often crash, and it seemed slightly buggy. At some point, i rebooted the phone and the boot screen would go for 15s, then freeze momentarily, then resume. This would happen over and over again, indefinitely and the phone would never boot.
This morning, I upgraded to 9.1. However, apps are still crashing. For example, I'm unable to open the Market app. It crashes immediately. This is after I added my google and exchange accounts and successfully received all my email.
Not sure what to do at this point. Does anybody have any ideas?
My gf has a Bell i9000m and is running Darky's 9.01 without any problems.
I would suggest you start from scratch by first unmounting the internal SD and format it. Copy Darky's ROM to it. Then boot to recovery mode and do a full reset in CWM recovery, and re-install from ZIP again.
She came from stock 2.1 JG2 to Doc's V8 and Darky's.
The current Darky is kind of buggy, if you could find the 9.01, that is a better version.
hi there...
i have a gs I9000M,running the latest Darky's 9.3 beta1. ive installed it yesterday...running without a glitch, very fast and battery last much longer than it was on froyo.
the only thing is that i had to install jl2 modem for Quebec use after the first install of the ROM.
and for the darn gps fix...with darky's.....wow...in less than 10 secs, its locked on at least 4 sats
now updated to darkys beta 3 via darkys configurator...no wipe and without a glitch...
running voodoo kernel, alternative wifi driver ticked
heres what i have on my GS.

I keep getting FCs on soundset and music after I load the rom then reset. This has followed me from BAMF NTE 1.6.3 over to the new Remix 1.7. I loaded the custom MR1 ruu and factory data reset. It still FCs, I also did not use Ti Backup and just reinstalled all apps through the market and it does it. I did not get a new app, I have been running the same apps since I got the thunderbolt and it ran fine before. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it?
Update 1: I realized I didnt run a fix permissions and that didnt do anything.
I am completely redoing the root exploit every step like its a new phone and will flash MR1 and just run stock for a little bit to see if I get FC issues. I had no issues with the phone until now and my terminal read out is SEM08G like everyone else.
When in doubt go back to a stable stock to establish a base then move to a custom rom to determine if it's your phone or the custom rom.
yeah I am running the stock MR1 and I got market FCs getting a few apps but nothing big yet. I used to run 1.6.3 just fine before GB.
Hi,
so here's my situation: I've previously installed CM7 by tj_style (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167750) on my phone and everything was working fine.
About a week ago, I flashed an overclocked kernel by squadzone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1344440) (I flashed the 782MHz kernel, but after that for a while and getting a lot of shut down, I turned the max frequency to 715, which stabilized the phone) and again, it worked well.
I downloaded an app called Cpu Tuner from the market (https://market.android.com/details?...SwxLDEsImNoLmFtYW5hLmFuZHJvaWQuY3B1dHVuZXIiXQ..) because I wanted to try a new cpu tool (Had Antutu's Cpu Master free edition before). I used the "Check phone's capabilities" option on the Cpu tuner, and all of a sudden the phone just reboots straight into recovery mode. I try rebooting the system, and it gets stuck at the CyanogenMod logo, starts looping it without ever actually booting into the system.
I've already tried wiping data and cache (a lot), going back to stock Gingerbread, which by the way, does the same thing, loops the Samsung logo, re-installing the CyanogenMod and just about everything that comes to mind..
Is there anyone with a similar problem or any idea on how I could fix this?
PS: sorry about all the links, thought it might make it easier if it was clear what I was talking about
Okay, so I managed to get the phone working after all. I was already pretty hopeless, I read a few threads about the Riff Box and was ready to send my phone to the service, but I wanted to take a few last shots at it.
I got it to work by first flashing back to froyo, a package S5570XXJL9 that had separate files instead of a one package, then Gingerbread S5570XXKPI again with separate files, then to clockwork and finally CyanogenMod 7
Hopefully this thread may be of use to anyone facing the same problems as I've faced
Good Morning XDA!
I've been a lurker on these forums for a while, and I've tried every ROM for the S4G that you incredible devs have released. I haven't had any issues that weren't my fault like forgetting to do something or skipping a step in the flashing process....and I'm sure that's all this issue I'm having now is.
BUT...
I just flashed Somairotevoli's Simply Simple Beta 1.5 and while reading the latest comments in that thread, saw someone had success with bhundven's new KJ6 kernel. I went ahead and flashed that, as well and now everything seems to be running just fine EXCEPT..I keep getting a force close window that says
The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Can anyone tell me if I did something wrong when flashing through CWM? I was going to post in the Android Dev section, but I don't have enough posts.
Thanks in advance!
That's an issue with my beta. looking into it.

I really appreciate all your work, man. It's not causing anything major, I don't think..just random popup. But the new update looks and runs GREAT! Thanks again!
Weird thing is I thought it was gone as I can't reproduce it. if I flash version 1.0, set it up, then flash my beta, it doesn't happen. So maybe data/factory wipe will fix it, but will have issue fixed before next final

I'll reflash and see if that works. Do you suggest flashing the KJ6 kernel again, also, or just your ROM then your beta update?
Last time, I just flashed your ROM, then beta update, then kernel.
Flash ROM, go through setup.flash update, flash kernel. That's what I did

I get the same message. My phone crashed when I rooted it and began trying to kill unwanted apps by deleting files. I reflashed with the first thing I could find that seemed close to stock, KB5, Kernel 2.6.32.9. My firmware version is 2.2.1 and since the phone is a little buggy and slightly slower under load than the stock froyo software, I'm trying to reinstall the original o.s. This will also restore any hardware acceleration that was disabled by the alternate build.
[Q] [ODIN][UCLB3] AT&T 2.3.6 Gingerbread with root added - Infuse 4G - Arabic Support
[ODIN][UCLB3] AT&T 2.3.6 Gingerbread with root added - Infuse 4G
I applied the above ROM to my AT&T. So far, all is working well from what I have tested: WIFI, BlueTooth, Phone and GPS. It seems to be very stabel compare to other ROMs I applied in the past.
My delimma is that I correspond in 4 different languages and arabic is one of them. When I applied the Hebrew Arabic Patch I am able to see the arabic letters connected. However when I attempt to write any arabic text, it is all disconnected.
I could not post to the forum where I found the ROM since I am new to the XDA forum. But I believe the answer to this question may help others.
Can anyone please provide me a patch to this ROM so it can allow me to write connected arabic letters? If such a pacth exists, can you please point me to it?
Thx for any help!!!
Some of the Arabic keyboards available on the Android market have settings to connect the letters. Here is a link to one that defaults to having letters disconnected, but it offers a setting to connect them.:

Thanks jscott30!
Hi Ishedra/ jscott30,
I currently have a Samsung Infuse 4G with the GB 2.3.6 update. I am really only interested in rooting and getting Arabic RTL support.
You mentioned using the ROM [ODIN][UCLB3] AT&T 2.3.6 Gingerbread with root.
My questions are:
Which of the options did you go with because there are 4 of them? Or does it not matter which one?
Where do you obtain a Hebrew Arabic patch that works with this ROM. It seems Arabic support is only available in certain custom ROMs. I tried searching for a general patch that works on all rooted 2.3.6 Gingerbread but couldn't find any.
Thanks in advance!

Hi dashrendar,
Here is a link to the patch that Ishedra most likely used. It should work with any rooted UCLB3 base or rom w/ CWM recovery. If you opt for one of the options from my Odin to rooted UCLB3 thread, it sounds like you would most be interested in Option D.
Arabic patch: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467808
Arabic keyboard: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5pYnJhaGltLmtleWJvYXJkIl0
Let us know if this works, as I've not tried it myself since English is my only language.

Thanks a lot jscott30.
The Infuse is actually my wife's. I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII with stock ROM (2.3.6 GB).
I wanted to make sure that I can do the same patch on my wife's phone so that she is not left out.
I will definitely be following the steps you provided, but I wanted to test on my phone first. Do you recommend a similar ROM for the SGSII similar to what you did for the Infuse--basically, rooted stock software with CWM (to support the RTL patch). The goal is to be as close to stock as possible (can't afford to lose any functionality but I do welcome the ability to uninstall bloatware).
Thanks again!

Glad to help! And I haven't been around the SGSII forums to be able to suggest something similar, but I'm positive that they have similar rooted stock roms. At very least, over there they can show you how to root your phone and install CWM recovery.

Hi jscott30,
Thanks again.
I am in a bit of a dilemma. I stayed up until 4:30 AM this morning trying to resolve an issue I ran into. Sorry, I tried to post in the original thread for the stock image, but because I don't have enough posts I wasn't allowed to.
Anyway, I went with option D as you suggested. I performed the data/cache wipe in step 4 to avoid the potential boot issue. Everything else went okay.
However, after installing a bunch of applications and freezing a couple, the Phone application kept crashing. Basically, when I click on it, the screen stalls for a couple of seconds, the screen turns black with a quick all-screen white flash, then black again. Then after a couple of seconds, I see the pattern screen lock. Then I can go in again. That happened every time I clicked the Phone icon.
I performed the flash again the same way. It went fine. The first thing I checked was the Phone app, and it was working okay. However, now every time I turn on Wi-Fi or mobile network connectivity, the same crash keeps happening periodically every 10-20 seconds, which makes the phone unusable. :crying: I initially thought it was the external SD card, but I took it out and the same symptom persisted. I turned both network connections off for now and no crashes are happening.
Do you have any ideas? I thought I would post this first before I start scouring the forums in case you had any ideas.
Thanks!
I can't reproduce those issues here, so it's hard to say. Try a software factory reset by going to Settings / Privacy / Factory data reset. That may clear what is causing your issue. That package has been downloaded over 2000 times, though, and this is the first I've heard of this issue. Makes me think that something is left from a prior install. Also, do you have this issue before the Arabic patch?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
Hi jscott30,
I have done the reset as you described and it goes into a loop when it boots. I tried flashing again and this time I wanted to keep track of the order of things. I mean last night I was able to download and install a bunch of apps using WiFi without problems. I think after which I installed the Arabic patch and the crash started happening.
I flashed again about 30 minutes ago following your steps to the word. After that I did the the following:
- Skipped the Setup Wizard;
- Enabled WiFi;
- Launched the browser to ensure data is being transmitted;
- I added my wife's Google Account to make sure it's not a synch issue;
- I asked her to check her GMail on both WiFi and mobile connectivity;
It seems like it's working normally so far. I will try to apply the Arabic patch to see if it's the culprit (which would be disappointing to see it affecting Wifi/Mobile Data).
By the way, I noticed that Al Hosny instructed installing something called Aries. What is that? And do I need this as well prior to the patch?
If the patch is indeed the problem? Could it be an incompatibility with this version of the CWM kernel? (Sorry for any noob questions).
Anyway, thanks for the quick response and I'll keep you updated as to what happens.
If the patch suggested ends up being culprit, I'd PM Ishedra to ask how to apply an Arabic patch. It was a guess on my part that he used the one patch, as I've not used it before. Unfortunately, English is my only fluent language.

When you were installing the app and the OS started crashing, were you trying to install apps that you had backed up previously?
Some times, certain apps restore or apps/data restore from the older OS will cause crash on the newer OS.
When this happens, I would suggest downloading the app new from your source and do not restore them from backed up source.
Not every app/data does this...but if you ran into problems, start new.
Hi qkster,
I was actually downloading and installing those apps from the market. I only backed up/restored their relevant data/settings.
I have some good news though. Before I loaded this Arabic Patch I started looking for another one. I tried and settled on this method whose source steps are in this blog. I see the Arabic text fine, the letters were all connected in GMail, Whatsapp and Facebook. I haven't tried the keyboard because my wife showed no interest.
I apologize for not trying out the previous Arabic patch in order to confirm its functionality. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time--with my wife waiting and depending on her phone and my baby daughter wanting to play with me, it's hard to find the time.
I installed the rest of the apps for my wife and everything is working solid so far.
This is good practice for when I need to do the same steps on my brother's and dad's phones. I believe my phone will be getting ICS soon (which should have built-in Arabic language support), so we'll see.
Thanks again for the great ROM and advice guys. :good:
