Mango 7.10.7720 IE not saving form data or passwords - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Heyas,
I tried searching but did not find anything related from here nor from Google / Bing so here it goes:
Anyone else having the problem that your Mango IE9 mobile browser is not saving any passwords? And if so have you managed to find a solution for it to save them?
I have cookies and history collecting enabled from IE settings.
Thanks in advance!

100 views and not a single comment? Does your WP7 IE save the password data or is it a "feature" that no form data is saved? Anyone?

I too haven't ever been able to figure out how to save form data, however IE has the capability to save .htaccess login form data (like the one when you attempt to configure your router). I would love to see this added in the future.
There might be a workaround, I haven't tried it yet (only tried it on iPhone). Javascript is run browser side, so if you could create a script that alters form data and save it as a bookmark and then just call the bookmark it might work. A simple document.getElementById("formname").value = "username" would work wonderfully. Again, I've only tested it on my previous iPhone.

Mobile IE and trouble logging in to websites

Hey,
I've been using a Pocket PC a bit recently (two, actually) and am having problems logging into various websites.
First, I had problems using an HTC TyTn logging into Facebook. Basically, it would always fail, but underneath the fail screen Facebook had a link, "Trouble logging in, try HTTP Login", which would work.
I also experienced the same thing on Evernote using Internet Explorer. Whatever I do I cannot login to http://m.evernote.com. (They don't provide an alternative login). The only thing I can do is use Opera.
I wrote this off as something wrong with my particular device, but I'm not seeing exactly the same thing on the HP iPAQ 614c.
Does anyone know what is going on here?
I've got cookies all installed. I've also changed my passwords to be really simple, and I've entered them on the keyboard so I can see exactly what I'm typing, I know I'm typing the right password.
Cookies are also all enabled.
Does anyone know what Facebook's "HTTP Login" method is an alternative to?
try opera mobile 9.5

I need a few fuze fixes

I have tried to look through but there are alot of posts and don't know how exactly to look this up but I need to know how to fix something with my internet. I have yahoo mail and don't use the xpressmail with at&t. I try to go to my normal mail.yahoo.com and it goes to the mobile version. I hate mobile versions of the websites. The yahoo version won't let you do anything other than text. No attachments or anything.
I need to just view full webpages. How do I change the settings to view them only? (saw something on at&t website but don't understand it and some people said it didn't work)
Second, I need to know how to allow for just the swirl zoom and not the tap zoom. When I open and it goes to landscape it gets rid of the swirl zoom on the internet and will only use the tap way to zoom. I don't like that way. I prefer the zoom by the d pad.
Third, If I am looking at playing alot of video and going to start getting some games on my fuze and wanted to know if I should change my display settings to something else that will make it look better. I remember on my last one(yes I had to replace one) somehow I got to display settings and they had options to change to xvga, vga, etc. Isn't Vga the best or is it set at the best as the default. Granted it looks good the way it is but I want the best for when I start doing video. And how do I get to it? I was looking around for it and can't find it anywhere now.
Also I was looking on what gps program to get. I was looking at the tomtom and was wondering what people thought of it. And what version would I need to get? Would you recommend a different one like garmin?
Sorry if these are double posts.
70 views and no answers and already to the 3rd page. Can anyone help me on this? No one on the at&t have replied and no one has here either.
Please help me, I'm having issues and need them fixed right away.

1) i don't think you'll be able to view it. It's the same with gmail, that's why they provide mobile version of gmail as well.
2) it shouldn't do that. what rom are you using?
3) the default setting should be optimal. i'm not sure why you'd want to play with the video setting. (i could be totally wrong on this one)
4) do a search on the forum, i'm sure garmin vs tomtom has been discussed in other threads. if you can find the # of people who have viewed this post, i'm sure you know your way around searching on the internet. good luck

1. Go to the Opera configuration page (replace "http://<whatever>" with "opera:config" -- without the quotes). Scroll down to "Proxy" and open that section by clicking on it. Make sure that the entries for "HTTP Server" and "HTTPS server" are empty and hit "Save" at the bottom of the section. Then scroll down to "User Agent," open that, set "Spoof UserAgent ID" to 3, and hit "Save." Finally, scroll down to "User Prefs," open it, set "Custom User-Agent" to "Mozilla/4.0(compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 6.0; en)" (again, without the quotes), and save it. That may be overkill; someone posted, for instance, that you get the same results by simply deleting the Custom User-Agent string instead of setting it to the value above. I haven't tried that. All I can say is that this combination of settings shows me the full web pages for all the sites I normally visit. YMMV.
2. No clue.
3. The display on the Fuze is 640x480 pixels, otherwise known as VGA resolution. A video encoded for VGA resolution will have the maximum sharpness of which the Fuze is capable. It may not be the best viewing experience, though, depending on what you are using on the Fuze to play the video and how it was encoded (the codec used, frame rate, etc.) -- you may experience performance problems such as "tearing," dropped frames, stuttering, etc. There's a lot of discussion currently about what's the best encoding for the Fuze, better drivers, the best player and settings therefor, etc. It's not a settled question nor an exact science. (I don't know what you mean by "How do I get to it?")
4. I use a free over-the-air turn-by-turn navigation service from amazegps.com. I think it does an excellent job for my needs. If you want to buy one, though, you should definitely consider OnCourse Navigator 8 (OCN8). I haven't used it, but the reviews I've seen are very enthusiastic.

I don't use Yahoo mail, but I see the normal HTML view of Gmail -- not the mobile version -- in Opera, using the settings I gave in the preceding message.
Try accessing your email from The Skyfire browser until someone outlines a full fox for you..
You can try using messaging/pocket outlook
You can also add Yahoo! Mail to messaging/pocket outlook, I have 4 accounts set up in pocket outlook/messaging GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail and my works exchange mail. I would suggest setting these up with imap settings over pop3 settings.
GMail has instructions for this pretty much step my step. Yahoo! doesn't officially support imap on wm devices but i am using an imap server settings. Its a little tricky to get set up because WM likes to grab settings for pop3 first. You can by pass this by putting in a different domain [email protected], [email protected] and then proceed to manually set up the accounts. If you have OCD then you can fix the email address after you have finished setting it up in pocket outlook/messaging.
GMail
incoming mail server (imap)
imap.gmail.com
user name is your full email address.
outgoing mail server
smtp.gmail.com
check box outgoing server requires authentication
check box use same user name and password
Advanced settings(link on page where you put in outgoing mail server info)
check box require ssl for incoming
check box require ssl for outgoing
Yahoo!
incoming mail server (imap)
imap.next.mail.yahoo.com (it works!)
user name is your yahoo login name (ex abc)
outgoing mail server
smtp.mail.yahoo.com
check box outgoing server requires authentication
check box use same user name and password
Advanced settings(link on page where you put in outgoing mail server info)
check box require ssl for incoming
check box require ssl for outgoing
For Hotmail to work you have to install a cab (for stock Fuze rom)otherwise it will direct you to a web based version.
Setting the accounts up in messaging will also allow you to preview messages in the TF3d email tab.

I tried this and it still comes up on opera as the mobile version. So Wish I knew how to fix this. Now media net isn't my homepage. And media net won't even show up. Still need a fix then. I may have to just use xpressmail if I can't find a fix.
Can anyone tell me what the default settings are so I can go back to the way it was. Until there is a fix that works.

Sorry; it's been a couple of weeks since I did this so I had forgotten that it disabled MEdia net. (Personally I couldn't care less about MEdia net, so it was no loss at all for me to exchange that for seeing full web sites; that's why I forgot about it.) I don't know why your web site still comes up as the mobile version; as I said, this does the trick for all the sites I use.
well, Is there any way to get the settings back, cause it didn't fix the issue and want to go back then. I want to keep medianet. i may have to do express mail after all, since no one knows how to fix it for atleast yahoo mail.
I've just spent a few minutes searching through the forum and can't find the post that I remember where someone gave the original settings for those configuration items; maybe it was on some other board. In any event, the best I can suggest is that if no one tells you what the original settings were, you can make a backup using Sprite backup; hard reset the device; go to opera:config and write down the original settings; restore the backup; and then change the settings to what you wrote down from the fresh boot.
I found the post I was thinking of over on the AT&T forum. That only addresses the proxy server names, but I think that may be all you need to get back to MEdia Net. HTH.
Than fixed it but wish I could figure out what is the problem with yahoo mail and how to fix the whole mobile website thing.
I had the same issue with the zoom wheel. Not sure if this is what fixed it but, in Opera goto Settings - Dispaly. Check Auto Full Screen, Show Images & Block Pop-ups. Uncheck Mobile view.
Has been working correctly since.

Ok. How do I get there? I know the whole go into opera and go to opera:config but how do I get to the display like you did then? Everything that has anything about the display in the config is different. Thanks

This is in the "Settings" choice on the menu you get when you hit the button at the lower right of the screen and then hit the "menu" icon (the one furthest to the right at the bottom of the screen).
I just tried that too.The menu-display. the mobile view isn't checked and I still get the mobile view of the darn yahoo mail. Still don't know how to fix it and I believe paypal is the same.
Yeah, the "mobile display" option controls how Opera sizes and formats pages; it doesn't affect which page (mobile or regular) is being accessed. I don't know how Yahoo mail, etc., are detecting the Fuze as a mobile device; the user agent and proxy fixes take care of many/most pages, but there's obviously something else.

A Couple of questions about Opera on the Raphael

Hi, I've tried searching for my own answers, but it was a fruitless search so I was wondering if anyone could help me with these:
1) I know that you can backup your opera favourites by making a copy of the Opera6.adr file, but is it possible to do the same thing with saved usernames and passwords in Opera's wand password manager? I'm getting a little annoyed at having to re-enter them every time I install a new rom
2) Is there any way of rearranging the order your favourites are displayed in the Internet tab of TouchFlo (Manilla)? They currently appear in the order they were added but I'd much prefer them to be alphabetical like they are in Opera itself!
Thanks in advance.

[Q] My Queries

Guys,
Got my phone a couple of days before ... no case yet ... hopefully the S case will be here tomorrow.
Have been playing with it most of the time since I got it and now have compiled a list of queries. Am sure the geeks out here will be able to help
a) Setup the VOIP ,,, no probs, works great. The problem is that well, every time I press call, I've got to choose between cell phone call and internet call. I live in Kuwait where all local calls are basically free or really cheap. I would like the popup to appear when it is an international call only. If that's not possible is there a way to switch it off (as I normally make local calls) and then have an easy way to switch the voip on?
b) I downloaded skype from one of these forums ... could not get it in the market. The problem I have with skype and one other program is that it has no "exit" option. Its on and running all the time even when I am done using it. Any way to have an option to exit? Is it only possible to use something like a tasker or something and force it to close/ end service?
c) I have my bookmarks at home/office in Google Chrome. I seriously thought since both Android and Chrome are Google products (just as Gmail) the bookmarks in my Google Chrome would have synced with my android browser just as Gmail dumped my contacts on to the phone (which by the way I did not want to happen). Is there some way I can get my chrome bookmarks show up in my browser?
More queries will follow once I play a lil more. Thanks for help received from various nice guys here while I was in the process of getting the NS and then splitting my head on which case to get.
Cheers
Can someone please help me??
I have managed to find out that we can exit Skype. I however use a program called "Stock India" and can find no way out.
Would appreciate help with the rest of those queries too.
Thanks
bump ... sorry
I'd help you if I could.
Normally I try to avoid non-answers like this, but I was starting to feel bad for you getting no replies. >.>
Alright, I just downloaded skype to see if I can answer your questions.
1. No clue. I don't use the voip feature. I looked under call settings and it has the options for when to use internet calling. Maybe that's it?
2. You can sign out when you're in the "My Info" tab. If you want to end the app then you got to do that manually or with tasker.
3. I'm asking myself the same question. There aren't any apps that make it easier either. I think there are apps that sync with google bookmarks, but that's totally different from chrome bookmarks.
Hope I helped you somewhat.
Not sure if these'll help you any but....
a. I've only messed around with the VOIP stuff for a couple of days, but there is an option in Settings->Call Settings->Internet Call Settings to let the phone know when you want to use it. Sounds like yours is set to ask for each call. Mine is set to 'For Internet Calls Only'. Try that.
b. Android - and Gingerbread in particular - is very good about managing memory and running apps. That said, if you really want to kill the skype process, look into downloading one of the many available task managers on the market. I can't suggest a good one for you, as I don't use one. Many people actually recommend against using one.
c. I wish. ;-) What I have found, though, and it's not a very good solution, is to use a different browser. I've been looking at Firefox for Android and it's actually pretty good. It also includes the ability to sync your desktop bookmarks to your mobile, which might make it worth the change for you.
Hey Zorak, not to worry ... guess I've got used to no replies Maybe the question was dumb and should have been found with a search (I normally search first) or maybe the guys genuinely don't know (in which case there is no point in blaming anyone).
Regards setting voip to "internet calls only", I did try that option. The result is that no calls are recognized as internet calls unless you copy and paste the number into a new field called "Internet Call" by editing the contact. Here, I've got a problem ... I use exchange for my contacts and if you use exchange, there is no option to add "Internet Call".
To test, I enabled my Gmail contacts and was able to enter the "Internet Call" and noticed that in gmail, the contact gets modified, the category being "Other:" followed by "sip:+9659935xxx". I copied pasted "sip:+9659935xxx" into one of the regular fields in exchange, but it does not work. The only option therefore seems to edit my entire Gmail contacts.
@DKYang & knytphal Yes, the now know that we can logout of skype ... thanks
Regarding android bookmarks, I found this solution ... guess there is nothing to worry about security. From whichever browser you use, 1) export the bookmarks to a html file.
2) Upload the html file to Rerware.
3) Install MyBookmarks from Appbrain
4) This software lets you overwrite your Android bookmarks with the one uploaded to the Rerware site.
This should help ... just not sure if after this is done if these new bookmarks would get saved on to our gmail or wherever in case we factory reset or change mobiles.

[Q] CyanogenMod 12 browser can access contacts

I recently installed CM12 on my Moto G and haven't yet migrated my Outlook Contacts & Calendar items onto it yet. I am surfing the web to become familiar with the due diligence of apps permissions first. From a comment at http://www.androidcentral.com/android-permissions-privacy-security, I found that I can an apps entry in Settings allows me to see the permissions for an app. I haven't yet installed any apps, but the native browser has the permission to access my Contacts. Is this normal for browser? If I draw an analogy with my computer, I wouldn't expect Firefox to be able to delve into my Outlook contacts.
Then again, I was warned that people can freak out at permissions without understanding them. So maybe there are reasons for the browser to be able to access contacts?

This is why they "officially" need these permissions...
Read contact data – You can send a code using the built in share feature. This enables the program to get your contacts so you can share it.
Write contact data – When you send something, if you send it to someone that isn’t in your phonebook, it will save the data for you to insert later.
In CM12 you can block these permissions.
