Mobile IE and trouble logging in to websites - General Topics

Hey,
I've been using a Pocket PC a bit recently (two, actually) and am having problems logging into various websites.
First, I had problems using an HTC TyTn logging into Facebook. Basically, it would always fail, but underneath the fail screen Facebook had a link, "Trouble logging in, try HTTP Login", which would work.
I also experienced the same thing on Evernote using Internet Explorer. Whatever I do I cannot login to http://m.evernote.com. (They don't provide an alternative login). The only thing I can do is use Opera.
I wrote this off as something wrong with my particular device, but I'm not seeing exactly the same thing on the HP iPAQ 614c.
Does anyone know what is going on here?
I've got cookies all installed. I've also changed my passwords to be really simple, and I've entered them on the keyboard so I can see exactly what I'm typing, I know I'm typing the right password.
Cookies are also all enabled.
Does anyone know what Facebook's "HTTP Login" method is an alternative to?

I need a few fuze fixes

I have tried to look through but there are alot of posts and don't know how exactly to look this up but I need to know how to fix something with my internet. I have yahoo mail and don't use the xpressmail with at&t. I try to go to my normal mail.yahoo.com and it goes to the mobile version. I hate mobile versions of the websites. The yahoo version won't let you do anything other than text. No attachments or anything.
I need to just view full webpages. How do I change the settings to view them only? (saw something on at&t website but don't understand it and some people said it didn't work)
Second, I need to know how to allow for just the swirl zoom and not the tap zoom. When I open and it goes to landscape it gets rid of the swirl zoom on the internet and will only use the tap way to zoom. I don't like that way. I prefer the zoom by the d pad.
Third, If I am looking at playing alot of video and going to start getting some games on my fuze and wanted to know if I should change my display settings to something else that will make it look better. I remember on my last one(yes I had to replace one) somehow I got to display settings and they had options to change to xvga, vga, etc. Isn't Vga the best or is it set at the best as the default. Granted it looks good the way it is but I want the best for when I start doing video. And how do I get to it? I was looking around for it and can't find it anywhere now.
Also I was looking on what gps program to get. I was looking at the tomtom and was wondering what people thought of it. And what version would I need to get? Would you recommend a different one like garmin?
Sorry if these are double posts.
70 views and no answers and already to the 3rd page. Can anyone help me on this? No one on the at&t have replied and no one has here either.
Please help me, I'm having issues and need them fixed right away.

1) i don't think you'll be able to view it. It's the same with gmail, that's why they provide mobile version of gmail as well.
2) it shouldn't do that. what rom are you using?
3) the default setting should be optimal. i'm not sure why you'd want to play with the video setting. (i could be totally wrong on this one)
4) do a search on the forum, i'm sure garmin vs tomtom has been discussed in other threads. if you can find the # of people who have viewed this post, i'm sure you know your way around searching on the internet. good luck

1. Go to the Opera configuration page (replace "http://<whatever>" with "opera:config" -- without the quotes). Scroll down to "Proxy" and open that section by clicking on it. Make sure that the entries for "HTTP Server" and "HTTPS server" are empty and hit "Save" at the bottom of the section. Then scroll down to "User Agent," open that, set "Spoof UserAgent ID" to 3, and hit "Save." Finally, scroll down to "User Prefs," open it, set "Custom User-Agent" to "Mozilla/4.0(compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 6.0; en)" (again, without the quotes), and save it. That may be overkill; someone posted, for instance, that you get the same results by simply deleting the Custom User-Agent string instead of setting it to the value above. I haven't tried that. All I can say is that this combination of settings shows me the full web pages for all the sites I normally visit. YMMV.
2. No clue.
3. The display on the Fuze is 640x480 pixels, otherwise known as VGA resolution. A video encoded for VGA resolution will have the maximum sharpness of which the Fuze is capable. It may not be the best viewing experience, though, depending on what you are using on the Fuze to play the video and how it was encoded (the codec used, frame rate, etc.) -- you may experience performance problems such as "tearing," dropped frames, stuttering, etc. There's a lot of discussion currently about what's the best encoding for the Fuze, better drivers, the best player and settings therefor, etc. It's not a settled question nor an exact science. (I don't know what you mean by "How do I get to it?")
4. I use a free over-the-air turn-by-turn navigation service from amazegps.com. I think it does an excellent job for my needs. If you want to buy one, though, you should definitely consider OnCourse Navigator 8 (OCN8). I haven't used it, but the reviews I've seen are very enthusiastic.

I don't use Yahoo mail, but I see the normal HTML view of Gmail -- not the mobile version -- in Opera, using the settings I gave in the preceding message.
Try accessing your email from The Skyfire browser until someone outlines a full fox for you..
You can try using messaging/pocket outlook
You can also add Yahoo! Mail to messaging/pocket outlook, I have 4 accounts set up in pocket outlook/messaging GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail and my works exchange mail. I would suggest setting these up with imap settings over pop3 settings.
GMail has instructions for this pretty much step my step. Yahoo! doesn't officially support imap on wm devices but i am using an imap server settings. Its a little tricky to get set up because WM likes to grab settings for pop3 first. You can by pass this by putting in a different domain [email protected], [email protected] and then proceed to manually set up the accounts. If you have OCD then you can fix the email address after you have finished setting it up in pocket outlook/messaging.
GMail
incoming mail server (imap)
imap.gmail.com
user name is your full email address.
outgoing mail server
smtp.gmail.com
check box outgoing server requires authentication
check box use same user name and password
Advanced settings(link on page where you put in outgoing mail server info)
check box require ssl for incoming
check box require ssl for outgoing
Yahoo!
incoming mail server (imap)
imap.next.mail.yahoo.com (it works!)
user name is your yahoo login name (ex abc)
outgoing mail server
smtp.mail.yahoo.com
check box outgoing server requires authentication
check box use same user name and password
Advanced settings(link on page where you put in outgoing mail server info)
check box require ssl for incoming
check box require ssl for outgoing
For Hotmail to work you have to install a cab (for stock Fuze rom)otherwise it will direct you to a web based version.
Setting the accounts up in messaging will also allow you to preview messages in the TF3d email tab.

I tried this and it still comes up on opera as the mobile version. So Wish I knew how to fix this. Now media net isn't my homepage. And media net won't even show up. Still need a fix then. I may have to just use xpressmail if I can't find a fix.
Can anyone tell me what the default settings are so I can go back to the way it was. Until there is a fix that works.

Sorry; it's been a couple of weeks since I did this so I had forgotten that it disabled MEdia net. (Personally I couldn't care less about MEdia net, so it was no loss at all for me to exchange that for seeing full web sites; that's why I forgot about it.) I don't know why your web site still comes up as the mobile version; as I said, this does the trick for all the sites I use.
well, Is there any way to get the settings back, cause it didn't fix the issue and want to go back then. I want to keep medianet. i may have to do express mail after all, since no one knows how to fix it for atleast yahoo mail.
I've just spent a few minutes searching through the forum and can't find the post that I remember where someone gave the original settings for those configuration items; maybe it was on some other board. In any event, the best I can suggest is that if no one tells you what the original settings were, you can make a backup using Sprite backup; hard reset the device; go to opera:config and write down the original settings; restore the backup; and then change the settings to what you wrote down from the fresh boot.
I found the post I was thinking of over on the AT&T forum. That only addresses the proxy server names, but I think that may be all you need to get back to MEdia Net. HTH.
Than fixed it but wish I could figure out what is the problem with yahoo mail and how to fix the whole mobile website thing.
I had the same issue with the zoom wheel. Not sure if this is what fixed it but, in Opera goto Settings - Dispaly. Check Auto Full Screen, Show Images & Block Pop-ups. Uncheck Mobile view.
Has been working correctly since.

This is in the "Settings" choice on the menu you get when you hit the button at the lower right of the screen and then hit the "menu" icon (the one furthest to the right at the bottom of the screen).
I just tried that too.The menu-display. the mobile view isn't checked and I still get the mobile view of the darn yahoo mail. Still don't know how to fix it and I believe paypal is the same.
Yeah, the "mobile display" option controls how Opera sizes and formats pages; it doesn't affect which page (mobile or regular) is being accessed. I don't know how Yahoo mail, etc., are detecting the Fuze as a mobile device; the user agent and proxy fixes take care of many/most pages, but there's obviously something else.

[Q] HTC - how to "right click" in mobile IE?

I've searched this forum and haven't found anything relevant (sorry if it's out there; please link me to the answer to this) and this is a pretty basic question. Here's my situation: I'm reading email in Outlook Web Access (just like you'd use on your desktop PC, not Outlook Mobile Access or the integrated Active Sync) using Internet Explorer mobile (my device is an HTC Raphael 101, a.k.a. P4600, a.k.a. Fuze) in Windows Mobile 6.1 but I'm assuming it works the same in most other devices. My problem is this; when I get an email with an attachment that I'd like to open or save on my HTC, and I tap on it, Outlook Web Access tells me that I need to "right-click" on the attachment to save it to my computer before opening. I've tried holding down the stylus for the pop-up menu, but "save attachment" or something similar isn't available in those options. Remember, this is accessing Outlook Web Access just as you would on your desktop, except using Mobile IE. I can't use Opera because it cuts off the top of the OWA screen, which is unfortunately the part of OWA that has all the controls for navigating your email like reply, forward, close, etc. So, does anyone know how to perform a "right-click" in IE mobile? For reasons I won't go into in this post, this particular instance of OWA does not integrate with ActiveSync or Flexmail4. Thanks for any help and/or links to answers in advance!
Hi BPB21.
Wow that is weird, you'd think holding down with the stylus with be the same as a right-click. I hate to ask but have you tried holding it down on different spots (like attachment icon vs text link etc)? Perhaps it is some javascript or such that isn't running correctly on the WM device. I did some searching myself & didn't come up with anything useful, sorry. Maybe some possible work-arounds would be to navigate to the attachment with the directional arrows instead & click on it with the action button? Or if you try forwarding the message (don't actually send), is the attachment there & accessible possibly? (I've used that trick many time with Outlook Express to get around their stupid attachment blocking crap without actually disabling it) Too bad you can't see the top in Opera since they might help you narrow down if it is an IE problem or not. Maybe changing the view mode (mobile vs standard vs single column) in Opera will render it differently..
Good luck & I'll post if I find something.

[Q] Save Login Credentials for WiFi Splash Page

Hi, my university (California State University, Long Beach in case you know it) has a splash page (BeachNet) for its campus-wide WiFi network. The page requires you to log in and prevents you from saving the username and password via (I'm guessing here) autocomplete=off.
Is there a way to get around this limitation via the Android Browser (or any other browser)? The page does not have to stay open, you must just login once. Disconnecting and reconnecting even works w/o re-entering credentials.
Does anyone know how to force the browser to save log-in information?
Edit: Being able to open the page, it's basically something like secure.arubanetworks.com/login.cgi&ip=10.0.0.0&mac=4d:7e etc. So it looks like the mac address and ip address are used as part of the URL identifier. I suppose that this would mean the browser would see them as separate pages. Hope this helps!
Check out firefox beta for (i guess) android?
It supports saving account + password. Works very well for me.
it didn't show up in the market (do i need a market hack/fix?), so i got the latest Fennec build from Mozilla FTP. Unfortunately, that didn't work.

[Q] Installing Certificate for Citrix Receiver

Hey guys...
I need your help... I have been trying to install my CA Certificate so i can use it for XenApp Hosted Applications.
After 3 hours of struggling & trying to get my Xoom to recognize the Certificate i finally got it working by changing the .cer file to .crt & changing it from .pfx to .p12
& placing it on the mnt/sdcard/
So after it was recognized i was jumping with joy and started Citrix Receiver and logged in on my domain & started an app.. but i still get the same certificate error The error is "An Error has occured while making an SSL Connection to Xenapp. Please contact your Xenapp Administrator"
Please help.
I've given up trying to set up citrix directly through the app. I get authentication errors and certificate errors no matter what variation i use.
People that use ipads have no problems so I've concluded its just a matter of the amount of access/device types that have been granted by the admins.
Something that does work for me though: When I open my companies web access portal through firefox it downloads an .ica file that opens in the citrix app. I've tried other browswers including the stock browser, dolphin for pad, and others that don't work correctly but firefox does.
I am the Admin & I myself have setup the Citrix XenApp Server, and i know this for sure that Mobile Devices are fully allowed.
Even if we get the .ica via firefox are we able to run it & run the hosted apps? on the stock / dolpin hd browser it doesn't work nothing happens if you click on the apps icon.
thats what I meant. Getting the .ica via firefox is the only way i can get the citrix app to launch stuff.

[Q] NoScript is blocking My Dolphin Connect

I'm using Firefox on desktop & I have an add-on called Dolphin Sync, which syncs bookmarks with the Dolphin Browser for Android. It also allows the immediate sharing of links between the PC & Phone, which is extremely useful. Unfortunately, my NoScript add-on somehow blocks the Dolphin add-on from syncing. There's a constant syncing symbol with nothing else displayed, & nothing happens. When I disable NoScript, it works fine. It displays other devices & immediately receives a sent link, but only if NoScript is disabled. I need both these add-ons working always, & I haven't found out how to solve this. I've looked online but no one else has an answer. Would really appreciate the help.
NOTE: There is probably some URL I need to enter into the whitelist of NoScript, but I'm not sure what. I have tried the obvious ones, the Dolphin Browser website etc. Doesn't solve the problem.
any news or a solution for it?
