By default, the charging light is only on when the power is off. A custom rom is the only solution to your issue at this time.

So right. I plum forgot to say that.
On one of my Xooms, I'm running ICS Stock ILM77 and Moto didn't change the charge light feature (bug) where it does not turn on when the Xoom is not turned off.
Can I flash - Charge Light Toggle from Rogue on ILM77?
Here's the build: http://www.android.net/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=124
Thanks
For those wanting to know if you can flash that Zip to ICS, you can. I did this and did not experience any issues (yet).
UPDATE - Charging light does work, however, it never turns "green" when fully charged in ICS.

You need to flash a kernel that supports bln (back light notification) and then download the paid app "bln" from the app market.

Netarchy's 1.3.0.X+ above kernels have it. And yes it will affect your experience with CM7..... affecting in a positively way. It's so much better than the stock kernel.
It has support for Voodoo Color, Voodoo Color, BLN and a lot of other goodies.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936219
NOTE: When you flash a newer version of CM7 afterwards. You'll have to flash the kernel after flashing CM7 as well because flashing CM7 replaces your kernel with the stock kernel.

Works great, and I tried the BNL, pretty cool gotta get used to it and I also like this kernel cause apparently it has godly battery life?
Also recommended and not mentioned is the "No LED" app from the market... works by highlighting one or two pixils of the screen...
I never needed to mess witht the backlight stuffs... But still Netarchy's kernel is very worth it..

Will this tweak wipe anything out? No.
Will the recovery for GB cause your phone to wipe? Maybe depending on what recovery you have. Last I remember there was a fix for that, I dont have GB therefore I am not to sure.

@droidnewb2000 yes it works but itll break the boot animation, I dont know why it does it.
@phillthedrill this replace the binary files with files from Honeycomb which are more responsive, the files are app_process and system_server.
@Grillrd sorry you dont see much of a difference. I notice a huge improvement and so does my girlfriends Inspire 4G and friend Infuse 4G.

Damn man, sorry to hear that but it seems like your the only one it caused this problem for. Ive tried this many times... The most i can say is wipe, install the rom and let it fully boot up. Then flash fugu. This tweak is universal and MANY people without charges use this tweak without problems.
I'm running Humble 1.51 with Voodoo and Super Charged V6, so my phone already feels snappy. However, I ran Linpack prior to flashing. My scores ranged from high 15's to low 16's. After flashing, Linpack consistently gave me scores in the 18 sec range. That is with NO overclocking, as I'm using the PBJ kernel. This was an easy to use, worthwhile mod imo.

What you have got there is voodoo colors. For some reason when brightness is turned down, the green screen shows up. Download voodoo app from the market and play with the settings or search for the optimal settings either on xda or google. Good luck with that.
what rom did you try??
sometimes not all nexus s 3G compatible with nexus s 4G...read first before flashing...
that normal for samoled nexus..just flash matr1x kernel, glados franco or others..it will fixed it..or you can lowering your dim level..
If you are on MIUI try this: Go to settings/display... turn automatic brightness on. You then should be able to see "Advanced Mode" under automatic brightness. Click that, then scroll down and turn "Use custom" on. Under that click "Light level to dim" and check 20 (default). Back out and done. If you don't like Automatic brightness you can turn it off. The settings still stick if you do.

I applied those but don't know if they're working or not since there's nothing remarkable

I seem to be getting inferior battery life on CM7 compared to VB w/ AntonX's kernel, with about the same amount of usage. Anyone else notice this? I'm guessing this is mainly down to the reversion to a stock kernel. Are there any tips for battery life specific to CM7 and besides the usual ones (e.g., battery apps, screen brightness, turning off mobile networks)?

CM7 will be worse on battery until they get all the kinks worked out. You might still see less battery over a custom modified stock rom.
