I'm on a 004 evo and as the 1.77 pri does appear to "ghost" android system from appearing on batt stats, the fact for my phone is it caused more battery drain. While I use it in a constant manner the system does not show on the latest pri it only skyrockets when its idle which leads me to believe downgrading the pri does something to the radios that causes them to either constantly run or its causing wake locks if anyone would care to share ttheir insight please do I feel like this thread could answer alot of questions

Please specify what ROM and kernel are you running... as that's most likely what the issue is related to. And what you are seeing is referred to as "screen tearing"
And as they will tell you, this thread should be in Q&A
Do I need to be concerned that my settings for gps, under the settings menu say things like verizon, e911 and such? Just making sure I'm not becoming a verizon customer and don't know it, lol as always thanks for all your hard work and in advance for a response to my question

Why does it say your in Verizon?

My guess would be something was ported over incorrectly or maybe its just an issue with text that wasn't converted I'm not sure anyways had a nasty crash and I just factory reset, reloaded ec10, and went back to pnp seems a lot more stable at the moment

Most of what you read everytime there is something new is placebo effects. I have seen no benefits with the new baseband.

The biggest thing I noticed with the new baseband is the instant gps locks with either ota 2.3.3 and even with cm7. I am using cm7 and the new baseband fix all my gps issues.

I think that if you have good reading comprehension and are capable of following instructions to the letter, then go ahead and update to get the new baseband...that way you can join the rest of us that facepalm while reading the posts from the others that simply can't or won't follow instructions.
Otherwise, have a seat over there and join the incessant mob ranting about the evil LG software bricking their phones.

that's true. but while my signal strength has not increased due to my location, my battery life has improved drastically. with wifi on all day yesterday and set to never sleep, and normal browsing,a few games, etc, i was at 74% at the end of the day. that's not typical of my usual battery stats.

I asked for opinions from people who have it
Not for rude messages
Isn't it what this forum is for?
And too the ones with helpful information
Thank you
Is there anymore input from others with pros and cons?

Pros: instant GPS locks and overall faster device.
Cons: this may just be me but twice now my sound quits and I have to reboot, only happens while charging though. Very strange.....

The advice/opinions that you're looking for smacks you right in face as soon as you enter this forum. The update is a fresh topic and you don't have to search all that hard for the answer. Just take the time and read. The advice given to you are the same stuff mentioned all over this forum.
Geah!
Pros:
GPS locking - I was surprised running around town how responsive it was.
Battery life. I screwed up on calibrating my battery and pulled the batt at 64% instead of waiting till it died. At that point it was at 17 hours up time and I play with my phone a lot, I play Order and Chaos and that is battery killer and even with 2-4 hours of play it held strong. Currently I'm re-calibrating the battery once more and it's at 19 hours+ and 60%.I keep half expecting a sudden drop to 0 or a random power off but it seems to be going strong.
Speed up - What can I say? it seems more responsive.. may be placebo.
No FC's since I updated a few days ago., usually I'd have one a day at least. App loadout is the same
CONS:
Camera app sucks - We need that Lg camera app.
Data connectivity - seems to be about the same, random, unexplained drops in data.
Bricking - Seems the update under windows Vista/ Win 7 64 bit CAN have issues. I flashed mine from my workstation at work which is STILL running XP and it was fine.
That's about the short of it from my POV, others have reported issues with reboots still, bricking, and it slapping their children when they aren't looking, but I think those people may be ReRe's anyway.
It is very hard to differentiate real issues and user caused from bad flash or maybe rough titanium restore

Updating with windows 7 64 bit and having issues is myth.
I was rooted on stock rom and updated when windows 7 64 bit.
All this nonsense of windows 7 being incompatible is a false rumor.
Infact, of anything windows 7 should be better since it's more modern software for a modern cell phone that was just issued a modern update.
Sometimes, I doubt the credibility of this forum and the advice that's posted, just because.
Of course it is worth.

I updated with Win 7 64 bit with stock phone, no root, and it took all of 8 minutes total from start to finish, and only thing erased so far is the amazon app store signin.
If you are already running the older leaked GB or a custom GB ROM and are stable then the answer is no. If you are running Froyo or a custom Froyo ROM and are stable then the answer is no. Since I went from the older leaked GB (v20c or whatever it was) to this one I experience the sleep of death EVERY time I charge overnight. I experience the SoD intermittently during daily usage with absolutely NO correlation to anything I do. Good news is no spontaneous reboots. Although if the SoD issue continues I will just wipe and go with EB or CM7 and Faux's kernel. All I can say is LG/T-Mo dropped the ball on this one.

does anyone know what needs to be edited to add volume wake to the g2x? from what i've gathered it can be somewhat typical to have the volume wake only work at a very low percentage. yet when it is plugged in it works no problem. while i have no idea what switch is thrown when it's plugged in to a charger, i have been able to find that the key layouts are in system/usr/keylayout.....but from there i've actually edited every volume up & down key to include WAKE as well but it's made no difference. WAKE_DROPPPED is also an option but i'm not sure if that makes a defference. if anyone with experience could offer some input it would be much appreciated.
edit: oh ****...forgot to follow my own thread and couldn't find it....didn't realize i post this in development and not q&a....mods, please move.
This could be done in cm settings. Try posting in the right section though.
Edit: cm settings, input, volume rocker wake

9 hours have gone by and this still hasn't been moved!?!?!? That's kinda weird, why are the mods here so relaxed? I go to O2X threads and that area is controlled like really well... in ours... well every other thread is hijacked or there is a duplicate for every thread made in q&a, general, and themes lol. Just curious why ours is a mess?

isn't working for me. tried a few different roms, none of them wake my phone. thought maybe i could just figure out how to do it myself or see why the setting wouldn't take with my phone. although by my phone i mean someone else's. just trying to help someone else.
and when i posted this i thought i was in q & a, hence the edit, the apology, and finally, the request to have it moved. but thanks anyways
Hello all,
So I'm a noob when it comes to rooting, but I got through it fairly simply on my first go. All I've really done since is disable the annoying wifi available notification in the pull down bar. I've noticed however, that the phone has been getting pretty hot since then. Not sure if this is the right place to post, but any help would be appreciated.
Don't understand why just rooting would do that myself. Are you charging it when it gets hot? I know my old bionic would get wicked hot if i was tethering off of it and charging it. But just charging it along only slightly. It was using massive amounts oof battery, like tethering, while charging that induced the heat.
On the other hand though I still tether 5 or 6 people at a time on my S3 a night while charging and my phone barely gets warm. Pushing almost a gig of data a night. Maybe your battery is getting fried? What apps are you using most when it gets hot?

Was it searching for a signal? If you click on battery under settings then look at the graph....is there a lot of red?
That may have been it. I restarted the phone after bad let it charge that night. Today it hasn't happened to me yet. I'll keep this updated though.

Let me take a wild-arse guess: you're running the VRLHD radio? If so: known problem - it's always hot.
How do I find out?

Settings > About phone > Baseband version. FWIW IDK how well known of a problem this is. I'm running the VRLHD radio and my phone is never hot. Asked a few others who frequent d2vzw discussion and they were also unfamiliar. If you want to know for sure, grab a different radio from invisiblek's modem thread and try that.

Just to add my 0.02. My phone always got super hot on the HD modem, if I switched back to any of the others it was fine and its fine now that it is on HE. It didn't matter is I was using WiFi or not it was just always super hot on HD.
