New super clean and ec10 voodoo kernel - Samsung Mesmerize

Do I need to be concerned that my settings for gps, under the settings menu say things like verizon, e911 and such? Just making sure I'm not becoming a verizon customer and don't know it, lol as always thanks for all your hard work and in advance for a response to my question

Another thing, also running the honeycomb theme from the same thread and the service bars in the notification bar don't seem they any like they're leading correctly I keep getting a circle loading icon or an empty box? Sorry I can't post in the dev thread

Why does it say your in Verizon?
Sent from my SCH-I500

My guess would be something was ported over incorrectly or maybe its just an issue with text that wasn't converted I'm not sure anyways had a nasty crash and I just factory reset, reloaded ec10, and went back to pnp seems a lot more stable at the moment

How do I disable voodoo

Hey guys, first off thanks to dfgas,Jt and everyone on this site for putting out these awesome roms. I'm a bigtime noob,(didn't know what a rooted phone was a month ago) but with a ton of reading in these forums I'm learning a little more all the time. I love the cm7 rom but I would like to flash back to Heinz 57 or my restored 57. Voodoo is enabled...I've read that I can't backup the cm7 that I'm on now with voodoo enabled..is this true? I've read in big red lettering a hundred times pretty much don't do any kind of flashing with voodoo enabled. How do I disable voodoo on this cm7 rom? Again, I'm new to all this hope these questions aren't to ridiculous. Thanks

There should be a folder on your SD card labeled voodoo. Put a folder inside of it title disable_lagfix and reboot. You will hear the lady voice telling you it is converting the file system back and at the end she sill say lagfix is disabled. Then once your back on H57 Delete that folder and reboot one more time. This will convert you back.
Tap-a-Talked.
Thanks scarmon....its pretty cool to see how you guys freely help each other out here. I hate to lose this rom but I've losing 3g more and more frequently today. Thanks again.

That's why there's different ones. Each one likes different things. I use H57 and love it. And many helped me when I started. Its only right to give back. Its what makes this place great. If you have any kther questions feel free to ask away. Ill be here for a good bit.
Tap-a-Talked.
Alright, I've tried to do the disable lagfix folder method numerous times and the voodoo lady is saying "convert data partion system is not available". She is starting to piss me off lol. I'm on cwm 2.5 with cm7 and kernel that came with rom. What am I doin wrong? Thanks in advance.

Honestly that one is new to me and yeah she can be a Bi##h sometimes. You may wanna hit them up in the CM7 thread. I'm sure the developer of that ROM knows what this is and can guide you in the right direction. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but I know they can be.

I use a handy app Voodoo Toggle Reboot Button you can find it in the market. it's free simple and works.

I think what he is saying is that it wont convert. You sould be able to flash H57 as it flashes a compatile kernel with it. Then it will convert voodoo but not unitll your off CM7. May wanna double check that but I think that what he getting at.

Correct, he will need to flash a different rom before he can adjust lagfix. Of course doing so is risky but you really don't have any other options I am aware of. Whatever you do, please don't use odin until you have lagfix disabled.
Damn...I hate having to do this with lag enabled. are there any kind of precautionary measures I can do besides all the obvious wipes before I flash 57?

In all seriousness, you SHOULD be fine as the kernel in Heinz is voodoo enabled.
I would think to wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache. Aslo may wanna make a nandroid backup before flashing.

lmartin92 is releasing a Mes specific build soon. No idea on what works or doesn't (obviously normal aosp stuff won't work) but it should be improved from the port. Dfgas has actually pulled his port because of this.

Interesting find.

I'm not sure if anyone else knows about this, but if you hold your finger on the status bar until the notification tray starts to open and then stops opening, you can slide your finger back and forth on the status bar to adjust brightness without going into your settings. I just found this out and thought it was cool and worth sharing

Widgets on MIUI

Just flashed the latest RG2x MIUI. I've never used MIUI before so I'm sorta figuring things out as I go, it's quite different from what I'm used to. Anyway I'm trying to use the battstat widget which I have installed but it won't show up in the widget list. This is one of those that doesn't actually have an icon to access any sort of settings, so it doesn't show up anywhere at all except in my application lists. Is there a way to get it running without having to change the launcher? I sort of like the whole MIUI feel and would prefer to keep it for a while.
[EDIT: Randomly showed up this morning. Weird.]

Yeah it's just not in there. Except for just reflashing I have done all the normal troubleshooting stuff. Really don't want to reflash either. Maybe someday they will show up in the list.

[Q&A][OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 10 (JellyBean) Nightly Discussions

This phone is not my daily driver, and I'll do as much as I can, but I also have a day job
I would appreciate all discussion stay to this thread, and I'd love it if there were some community self-help.
State of the Union (for the Blaze 4G) (2012-11-05)
Current state of the ROM. This likely applies to any of the ROMs using the kernel sources coming from CyanogenMod for this device.
The device mostly works as it should. There are some problems currently people are having with this phone, and I will detail those here:
1) First and foremost, the Screen of Death. This is a problem that isn't only occuring to us. Just a couple of days ago I asked what the status was and the answer is that they have no idea. Some think it's specific to our platform (msm8660, which we share with a number of other phones), except that I've experienced it on other platforms, like my S3. Some think it's related to the display, except that not all the devices on this platform use the same display. Because of the randomness and lack of verbosity in the bug, they don't have a way of getting any useful data on it. dmesg and logcats are pointless. They are working hard trying to find it, but keep in mind that it isn't just us.
2) Saving pictures somewhere other than local storage. Yes, you should be able to save to your SD card. I think this is coming sooner rather than later. The following patch popped up over the weekend and adds in the functionality: http://review.cyanogenmod.com/25848. The Q&A responses to it look good. I suspect it'll go through a revision or two once they work out the bugs and then it'll get incorporated.
3) Saving app data somewhere other than the local storage. While I'm looking into it and talking to officials, I'm fairly confident that this behavior won't change in the official CM builds. Some of the other CM derived roms may allow this, and you should probably look there to solve this problem. The sad thing fact that our devices shipped with 1.2 GB of internal storage. I don't know why Samsung hates us so much, but they do. And therefore, the default behavior for CM is bad for those of us that want to game. Some users have reported success using an app called Directory Bind. I haven't used it and can't vouch for it, however it looks like it'd let you point specific directories from your internal storage to a space on your external storage. This is definitely safer than the mount swapping ideas that have been going around.
4) BLN isn't 100% unbuggy. Yes, BLN is buggy. BLN is the Button Lights Notifications. As of 11/10 we are on the official CM cypress-touchkey driver. However it seems there's still a bug there. Occasionally if you unlock during a notification, the lights won't come on. Sorry, that's just the way it is.
5) Camera Flash won't disable. This is unfortunate. Apparently if you tell the camera to disable flash, it simply won't do it. It's towards the bottom of my list, but it is definitely there.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that CyanogenMod version 10 is a moving target. Lots of stuff is happening, and until it's labeled as "stable" (and probably even for some time after that), we will continue to experience bugs.
Thank you

Make sure to check the MD5 sum of your download(s). Make sure you wipe dalvik, and do a factory/data reset from CWM. It might also help to format /system.
I used this ZIP in my last install and it has worked fin for me so far... I've actually found it to be fairly stable...

How has the data seemed? The "regular" stuff seemed to work great for me, but since I don't use this phone on a regular basis I don't know how to judge the 3/4g performance.
Also, I'd love to hear about maps performance (GPS, compass, etc).
I know I'm opening a can of worms by asking about this stuff (everyone will be hyperaware of things that never bothered them before), but it's useful to know as feedback.
Data seems normal to me. GPS and compass seem to be working fine for me also.

Surprisingly this is actually more stable than CM9 lol. The camera is smoother and has more options and the Google account synching is easier. The transitions are fast and cool too.
While I'm not a fan of the navigation bar due to the smaller screen, I do love the easy access to the multitasking. It makes switching apps easier. Is this something that you could possibly port without the navigation bar when you fix the buttons? Like give an option in the settings to replace the search button for the multitasking action? I can access the searching from the top widget. Just throwing ideas out lol.
Also the UI sounds are not working, along with the keyboard sounds. I also get this message once in a while about the "CM updater stopped working" it's not a big deal. I haven't used the data much, so I'll report in a little while. Worked fine during the little moment I used it.
Update:
UI sounds are working. Never mind. Let's see if it's consistent or not lol.

Glad to hear it's working out stable for you!
I'm not a Java/Android developer per se... I'm a bit of a self-taught hacker and the majority of my work for this was really about the kernel and forward porting the changes from 3.0.8 samsung sources to the 3.0.43 that CM uses. Adding things to the settings seems a bit daunting to me, but I'll look into it. Always wanted a reason to actually start developing for android
I can tell you that on my SGS3 (and I imagine on other phones as well), the home button, when as a long press, brings up the multitasking menu. This would probably be the immediate answer to your situation for this phone.
I could also possibly just offer up a flashable zip to remap the key and that would be much easier for me.
My long term goal really is to get this into github (and into the CM nightly cycle) and get my kernel changes into the cm kernel for msm8660 so I don't have to maintain the patches myself.

I meant to mention that they start working after the first time you adjust the volume. This seems to be a general CM10 bug as I've had it (and seen people complain about it) on the SGS3.
