[Q] any way to manual install Android 2.2 on "Motorola milestone" ???

i read how to manual install Android 2.2 on Motorola droid
i try it on my milstone but it's faild
any way to do i??
THX
No. There is no 2.2 available natively for the Milestone. The highest OS it has that's been released is 2.1.
The closest thing is two custom ROMs which need ROOT ACCESS and OPEN RECOVERY to use, MotoFrenzy and CyanogenMod 6.
Is either custom rom compatible with the XT720?
Sent from my Milestone XT720 using XDA App
Doubt it, but you could try? They're coded for the hardware keyboard and everything.

[Q] Can I port 2.2 from xt720 to xt701?

Can I port 2.2 from xt720 to xt701?
Froyo for xt720 has released
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
And the test version before is the same to the full version released today(12.22)
I remember thay Skrilax_CZ said
"On XT701 you can have unsigned kernels. I think you'll be able to port it from xt720 quite easily."
So how can I do this?
please help
Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone! This is a thread FOR ALL ROMS that are available for our milestones!!!!
For a thread on how to root and apply roms, check my other thread at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932196
Now, I am not responsible for any damage caused to your device!
ALWAYS NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING TO YOUR DEVICE!!! (For instructions, look in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932196 It should be somewhere there, just scroll down a little!)
Please ensure that you wipe all data, cache, dlavik cache before applying brand new roms! Usually the same roms of different versions do not require wiping data! For example: Froyo mod 2.4-2.5 may not require you to clear data!
Now for all the roms!!!!!
Note: Some are updates, and some are nandroid backups!

There are too many different ROMs for Milestone only. Each one of them has pros and cons.
It will be very helpful to have some kind of comparison between all these ROMs.
For example I heard that Cyanogen has better performance but it will cost you in battery life.
MIUI has better UI and better battery life but less performance than Cyanogen.
I don't know what are pros and cons of all other ROMs

[Q] Where did the Bravo ROM come from?

Just a general question here. Where did the Bravo ROM come from? The original post said it was a Chinese ROM (i think), but is it a new proprietary build like MIUI? Or is it a port of the Motorola Bravo 2.2 ROM to the XT720? Or something else entirely? Anyone know the history?

I don't have a lot of the details but this is what I think I know: It's a port of 2.2.1 that Motorola released for the Motoroi XT720 that's developed on a Chinese message board. I don't think it is related to the Bravo phone. The 2.2.1 Motorola released for Motoroi XT720 is very specialized for Korea, so it takes quite a bit of work to internationalize it. From what I understand WanHu and Bravo both came from Chinese message boards. Beyond that I don't know the lineage. Brianlili's done a great job and continues to do a great things with his ROM, IMHO. Dexter's old hijack is in there so it may have roots eons ago from his minimalist stock22korean.zip port (or possibly not). (Dexter initially worked off of the Motoroi XT720 ROM but hit a wall early on and switched to Milestone A853 as a base for his port)
Hi,
Can i ask how to do a swap on this bravo rom?
I have done swap on cm6.3 which was pretty straightforward. But bravo doesn't seem to support swap. I have tried fj 's boot.img boot5.img...

I m from india so need Defy+ Gingerbread 2.3.6 with MotoBlur for green lens
Hi I think there is no rom for 2.3.6 with green lens. I unfortunately installed on my defy a defy+ 2.3.6 sbf rom (now I m stuck on this rom because there is no downgrade possible) But there is no support for the camera!
Even any greenbread mods won´t run
Hopefully you ll find one with working camera, let me know and I´ll use it to
greetings from bavaria
@koljasöngsen Your wait period seems to be over. You can somehow use the green lens camera now Check this thread

DO NOT install Defy+ full SBF or you will lose your downgradeability and your camera! If you want 2.3.6, just install Walter79's MS2Ginger 3.0 RTM with my patch for full blur and you are all set - having original 2.3.6 with Moto blur and able to downgrade to Froyo.

I swear to god, it's like the Defy section is the only unmoderated part of XDA.
@Popcorn1122
thanks so much for your hint!
it works brilliant and now I off this stupid 2.3.6 sbf subject!
