So, back when G+ first came out I had my EVO 4G running CM7. I would get notifications when the phone would first start for about 20 min then they wouldn't come up anymore. Now with my EVO 3D I don't get notifications at all. If it matters I am running the Synergy nighty's. I've submitted feedback twice now and never get a reply from Google (to be expected) and all of my settings are set up properly. I get Gmail notifications without a problem...
Anybody have this issue or have any ideas to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

i had the same problem a few days ago also on gsm evo 3d but had others in a huddle on various devices stating the same.
i cleared data and it seemed to fix it for me .
not had any problems since the update.
Thing is, I've had the same problem on two different phones and ever since G+ came out. They've never worked for me. I always kinda assumed there was something with my phone killing the G+ notification process or something.
Also, I had to uninstall and reinstall the app after the update like two days ago. So I doubt clearing the data would do anything for me.

This is a post from Android Central member ccw1134:
"So let's set the table here. Facebook Push Notifications are the golden egg that we're all looking for. Well after reading this you can go obsess about something else...finally (I know I will). I have been beyond frustrated with the chaos that has surrounded this subject. I've spent way too many hours reading and reading then reading some more. I am proud to say that I finally cracked the elusive Facebook Push problem.
I switched from Verizon to Sprint last week (work decision) so I went from a Droid Incredible to a EVO 3D. I was hoping that my Push notification would work when I switched since they never had. To my dismay they did not. My daughter went from a BB Curve to the Motorola XPRT and her FB push notifications worked! She always would always say "Dad you're phone's not so Incredible now, is it?" So when I got my EVO 3D and it didn't work I really became obsessed. After comparing settings on both phones and Facebook settings I found the one anomaly. The list of authorized apps within Facebook (Account dropdown>Account Settings>Applications on the right side of the page) on the computer showed "Facebook for BlackBerry Smartphones" on hers but not mine. It's so simple yet outside of the box. The key is BlackBerry permissions! I am willing to bet that everyone who has working notifications on Android came from a BlackBerry. Okay onto the good stuff.
- Find someone with a working BlackBerry. This could be a friend or any store that has activated demo phones. - Using the Facebook app on the BB log into your account and wait for your stuff to start appearing. I did not log into email or anything else, just FB. - After you see your Newsfeed updated with your information simply log out. - Go into your FB settings on your Android phone and check the Notifications box. The refresh interval doesn't matter (it can even be set to Never). - Notifications should start appearing as you get them (Comments, Wall Posts, Pokes, Likes, Messages, etc.)
I did notice a couple of things that I hope get improved in the notification process. Messages and Friend Requests have their own separate icons for notifications just as they always have. Comments, Wall Posts, , Tagging, Pokes and Likes all share the new notification icon that you will start seeing. Because of this if someone pokes you and then you get a comment or whatever, your Poke notification is gone (I'm assuming because the FB App doesn't officially support Poking yet therefore it doesn't know how to handle that notification) and won't know who poked you. Also if you should happen to click on the poke notification doesn't take you anywhere useful, just the list of notifications (for the same reasons listed in the previous sentence). This is a small sacrifice for now. If someone tags you in a post (I assume a picture will be the same way) you also will still get an email notification to whatever email you use. Just an FYI on that.
For the record I am on Sprint using a nonrooted HTC EVO 3D running 2.3.3 and Facebook is version 1.6.3. I do not believe the carrier, phone model, OS or Facebook version matter but I know there are those out there who want to know this type of stuff."
I will be trying this out, seems promising according to replies there!
(mods, I wasn't sure if this would be the right place so feel free to move it.)

Nope. I came from BB to Android and while I had notifications working about a month ago with a FB app update (nothing to do with switching from BB to Android), they no longer work and they didn't work when I initially switched over either.
I just checked my account settings and the Facebook for BlackBerry Smartphones is still listed there and still has permissions.
Think it is just a coincidence for you.

Well this wasn't me, I have yet to try it. It's a repost of something from Android Central.

I don't know what the difference is but I installed the blacked out Facebook located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200174
And I now receive notifications for the first time. I just installed the apk today so for me it worked and I have no reason to understand, just that I now get notifications. Can someone else confirm with this that they receive notifications?
The only way i got them to work was to create a new fb account.

Sure fire way to fix this:
Deactivate, then immediately reactivate your account. It's kind of a reset button.

Nope, did it last night. Deactivated, then signed back in to reactivate, all from the browser. All your settings, friends, and such stay the same. Now I get every notification.
So you deactivated your whole account from the computer browser? Then reactivated it? No blackberry hoops to jump through.

Funny, it didn't work. Then as soon as I opened facebook app , I got a notification. Still no push.

Nope. I had a BlackBerry before my G1, and I still use BlackBerrys occasionally, including Facebook. I have gotten a total of two notifications from Facebook on Android, and it has never worked since.

Are you sure it's all ok? I'm a page administrator too and it's clearly written that I won't get back my administration rights back automaticaly if I deactivate...
i moved the facebook app to the SD card then back to my phone and it seemed to have fixed notifications for me
Wow. So many different fixes it almost seems like coincidence now. I know facebook is free and all and we shouldn't ***** but those guys are getting rich and not really giving anything back. I mean come on? Don't you think somebody that works for them uses android app and can see it sucks?

Since I did the update to ICS on my Transformer, my gmail app stopped working. Now when I load it, it appears for a second then the screen goes black and I find myself on my homescreen.
I've uninstalled the app and cleared data. Neither worked.

Same thing happened to me..then after about a month it started working again. I figured there was probably some email that was giving it issues, until enough time passed that it stopped trying that particular one.
Maybe try deleting (or moving) the messages that came in right before it stopped working? (via gmail.com)
I'll look at the specific emails but don't see how that should effect anything. Worth a shot.

there's another post here about maps, and people there were having issue with gmail too.
when i did a logcat when gmail error out and fc, it was telling me openGL out of memory?.
i'm on team EOS ICS stable. so your not the only one having issues with gmail. and it doesnt seem like a ROM issue too, cause each one of them was using a different ROM.
i hope this get cleared up soon

Yes I hope they can get this cleared up as well. I haven't rooted it and it was working before I did the update to ICS. Other than the Gmail issue, I haven't had any other problems since I updated. However this is a big issue for me because I use Gmail so much and having to use a browser to access it is becoming a real pain.

Well I got it to work! I did a factory reset and gmail is working perfectly. Now that I think about it, it makes sense. I should have done this sooner. I hope this can help others who have the same or similar issues.

Mine did not work the other day too.. it just crash and return to homescreen..
I just clear cache in settings - apps - gmail and it start working again perfectly.. no need factory reset and no need reboot..

For the past few months I've been receiving garbage texts. Random characters at seemingly random times, but when they start coming in they're pretty constant.
Until recently I just figured this was some sort of spam or exploit that didn't work with my phone.
It wasn't until this tremendous thunder storm that I put two and two together. Myself and co-worker both have Nexus S 4Gs. We hear each other complaining about the texts at the same time. Found some other Sprint users that had alerts going off. Weather alerts. At the same time as the other 4G owner and I were receiving texts. Turns out Sprint turned on CMAS (Commercial Mobile Alert Service) and modded phones, or the 4G in general has no idea what to do with them.
Is anyone else having this issue, any ideas on how to block texts without sender information?
I started receiving these a couple weeks ago. The sms blocker apps from the market combat them pretty well.

I just got my wife a refurbished Nexus S and she has been having the same issues occasionally. Often they were within other normal messages in a thread! First I thought it might be the app Handsent which I had installed for her, but even after uninstalling it kept going. I have never had these in many Photon, so I'm a bit at a loss!!
Any ideas what it could be. My wife wants me the verify that the phone I'd working ok!

Does anyone else share in my frustration?
Often, I am notified to link contacts between my People list and my Facebook (official app) contacts as well as my Whatsapp contacts. This happens at least once a week, and at times, every other day.
I'll go into the Facebook app and all of the sudden will need to enter my password again. Within the hour, I'm notified of Facebook contacts that could potentially be linked with my people list. I link them all then save. You'd think that would be it, right? A couple days later, same password prompt, same contact link suggestions. The same thing occurs for Whatsapp, too. Both occur update app from the Play market or not and on stock and MikTouch 0.7.
It's a minor inconvenience but so annoying, as it seems like it's never really saving the link. Anyone else seeing this?

I remember months ago the facebook app threw phones into a constant sync, they would never stop syncing and never actually do so.
I don't use facebook, but had to troubleshoot for a user of my rom.
Facebook app is the most worthlessly coded POS app I've ever crawled through the code of, it makes little sense and has less coherency.
Using the app means subjecting yourself to it's problems, sorry for your troubles.

Has anyone been having issues with whatsapp this week? I'm constantly getting delayed messages (30-45 mins late). Its so bad that my outgoing messages will go out and then suddenly I get messages from 20 mins ago so the conversations are mixed up. This is happening to me and my wife who is out of the country right now and several of her family members too. Just wondering if any of you guys are seeing the same behavior as well. I've searched Google for any news about this, checked their twitter, etc but can't find anything about any issues.
Thanks!

No, no such issue. It does sometimes take a while to send (even on 60Mb internet), but nothing that dramatic...
Could be the new update from 01 Juli. I've had it happen with a previous update a few months ago. Seems there are more people with recent functionality issues since the new update. (Play reviews) It's why I put off updating untill it starts whining about it, I'm still on the previous update.
Thank you! I didn't think to check the play reviews. Yep, a fair number of people saying the same thing.

If you continue to have issues with whatsapp I recommend using viber as an alternative, it's essentially the same thing but better quality servers in my opinion. You can even make free calls internationally.

thats not actually a solution bro
Sent from my Canvas 2 using xda premium
Yeah its not. I already convinced everyone to move to whatsapp from kik, plus my wife can't sign up for viber right now since she is out of the country and using a local SIM.
Having said that, the fact that viber syncs with a desktop app gives me tons of incentive to switch chat programs again. That's always been my one complaint about whatsapp. I hate being at work and having to pull out my phone to message people when I have a full keyboard sitting right there in front of me. This will be a godsend assuming I can convince all my people to switch yet again.
