[Q] Buying HTC Mozart or wait? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a question, I considering buying HTC Mozart. Please tell me is it worth to wait for HTC Radar or not? It will be huge difference in hardware or just cosmetical. I know it has Front Camera but, I also have it on my Touch Pro and never used it. Camera is also not important for me, I have profesional camera. I can buy unbranded HTC Mozart so there is Mango update for it and the price for Radar will be possibly twice. I'm not interested in bigger screens like 4,3 or 4,7". What you adviceing?
I heard also there will be Samsung Focus Flash with 1,5Ghz but i'm not sure if I need it or this processor change anything.
Thank you.

The Radar will have a better battery and a newer processor, which in theory should give you better battery life. Otherwise I'd say these phones are pretty much the same.

I've had the Mozart for 10 months and I'm in love with it. I've never had any problem whatsoever. I'd say the size of the screen is just perfect. If you can get it for half the price you would get the Titan, then get a Mozart!

how long in hours or days mozart stay alive in one charging?

on average, I get 14-16 hours with one charge. I have managed to keep it running for about 45h once without a recharge. I wasn't using my phone at all for those 2 days and it still had a little charge left.
But with "normal" use, it's about 14-16 hours - not much but just enough for one day

It really depends on how often I turn it on. It usually lasts through the day, but only when I don't use it often.

..with a Mugen Power 1800mAh battery I am coming close to 60 hours...

I am not using my Mozart hardly - few text messages by day and a few phone calls, e-mail syncing over EAS hourly and it stays alive up to 3 days. Turning off data connection helps a lot.
And stopping playing too much helps as well ;-)

thank you all. I wonder how good battery will have Radar I heard that Mango update bring some battery life improvements, anyone can confirm this?

Those battery life improvements come with additional battery drains like multitasking, so on average nothing should change.
Basically there's one metric I look at. At some sites such as Anandtech, you can get benchmarks for battery life. There's a bunch of useless stuff there but one thing that matters is "3G Browsing". That's important because this mode utilizes all the battery hogs - the screen, the CPU, and data transfer. Thus, by looking and comparing this metric, you can get a general feeling of what another device will be like, for your current usage pattern (i.e. how often you turn it on and do things during the day mostly, while data transfer is enabled all the time).
The old-gen Snapdragon phones usually get about 4-5 hours of 3G browsing, while the iPhone 4 gets 8-9 hours if I remember correctly. So, using my Mozart sparingly, I have it last through the day, and iPhone 4 could last approximately twice as long.

thank you for answer. so if I would like web browsing a lot I should consider buying iPhone. I don't like them every one want to have it but I will consider this especially I get offer of new iphone 4 only little more expensive then mozart (+1/3 of mozart price)

oh hell no! Dont get an iphone...get a windows phone!

Ouch... I have blood on my hands...
You could wait for Radar battery tests.

I will wait... don't worry. Personally I prefer WP.
but radar will be more expensive then mozart and iph
one4 which I can buy, i'm not sure if not too expensive for me around twice price of Mozart
thank you for your opinions.

If you can wait, do wait. Right now is the worst time to be buying a phone. In just a few weeks or so, it will be the best time to be buying a phone.
A little patience will go a long ways.

there's only one thing about this phone that bothers me...

the battery life. I mean 1230 isn't small compared to iPhone 3G that I currently have, so I'd assume it would last longer. I hope.
are there programs to optimize battery life? I've never used android and don't know hardly anything about custom stuff. I browse the web and check Facebook pretty often during the day (got to kill time on bus rides to class) as well as music and texting often. I'm a little worried about how the battery will fair for me :/
Anyone know if there are extended batteries for this? (I'd also assume that the one for the DHD fits as well)
I have seen 1600 batteries for the Desire HD so maybe they will work for the inspire
I totally agree. My ONLY reservation about the Inspire is the pint-sized battery!
I've had discussions on other boards about this exact issue, and there are some Inspire lovers who are so attached to this phone they feel offended when I try holding their feet to the fire during discussions regarding the battery life.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that even though most people who have already decided to buy the Inspire don't have any reservations about the battery life, I still do. But hopefully more info will come out regarding the lightweight battery. Then I hope we all can make a better decision on whether or not to get this phone!
I am certainly not going to let the battery size affect my decision.
I have seen many reviews all stating 10-12 hours with heavy use, it seems they have optimized this phone since the original desire HD

Thats pretty much how I feel about it, this phone is pretty damn fast and for 99 bucks it's a hell of a deal!
1200 mah battery?
That's gonna go fast with android....unless you take the "smart" out of smartphone (eg. Disabling 3g, auto-sync, email fetching etc.)
If you get this phone, an extended battery seems a must.....
Especialy since you're new with android. The iphone "just works" compared with android...you have to put your own tweaks here and there to make it your version of "perfect", but that's what makes android android

I love all the subjective guessing around here, watch some reviews read some reviews everyone has stated 10-12 hour battery life with moderate to heavy use, dont just assume because of the millwatt hours that it will automatically suck, and dont compare it to previous models because there has been some optimization
Officially, the battery is said to provide up to 6 hours of talk time and as much as 15.5 days of standby. Those are pretty amazing estimates for such a small battery. In our tests the Inspire 4G was able to provide 10-11 hours of use – including making a bunch of voice calls (some longer than 15 minutes), watching live-streaming TV news feeds, checking and answering my emails every 5 minutes or so, having the built-in GPS help find a friend’s location and even playing a few games of Solitaire. HTC is doing something right with squeezing so much from such a compact battery pack.
http://thefastertimes.com/cellphones/2011/02/03/atts-inspire-4g-a-top-tier-android-at-a-good-price/
This is just one review of the many
Im sure there will be an extended battery for this phone. it makes no sense not to make one! and htc has been good so far so why not build an extended battery.
I've been testing this phone since late last week and can say that the battery live is comparable to most other android handsets currently on the market. If you're a heavy user, don't expect to get more than 9-12 hours out of the battery.
The longest the battery has lasted for me was 25 hours. On Saturday I used to phone pretty lightly (2 phone calls, a couple text messages, checked twitter throughout the day, downloaded 700MB worth of files for Dungeon Defenders over Wi-Fi, and played the game for about 30 minutes). When I went to bed, the phone was at 13% battery life, but I left it unplugged overnight to see if it would last until the morning. With all notifications and sync still on, the Inspire still had 3% battery life when I woke up 9 hours later.
I'd imaging if I didn't download 700BM of data the phone would have lasted much longer under "light use."

"Optimized" what do you mean? Is there proof that ATT optimized the rom to run longer then the original Desire HD?
The battery size isn't going to keep me away but i just like to know. I also noticed that the inspire has SLCD instead LCD in the DHD. Will the super lcd screen give a better battery life?
Eventhough, extended battery is released, how will it fit into the phone. Is there enough room for a larger battery. This phone will be my next sucessor to my nexus one. It will do til the next real Nexus. I just love the unibody style.

I love all the baseless justification for a retarded consumer move to save money.
Htc always has to mess something up in their phones.
This time, luckily, its only the battery which can be easily replaced

meanwhile there are posts from nick above from HTC source and he actually has the phone and he states over and over 9-12 hours heavy use.
ok guys, I'm very excited about getting this phone. But I don't really want buyer's remorse, so help convince me 100%!
to be honest, I like having the latest and greatest phone. I constantly monitor the tech world (Gizmodo and Engadget are my top two pages on Chrome!), but coming from a 18 month old 3G iphone, pretty much anything now is an upgrade. I just don't want to regret getting this and being locked in for two years while the "future" is released in half a month afterwards. So justify the things holding me back:
screen resolution
battery
single core Scorpion
no sideloading
if you guys could kindly help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!

well the supposedly great qHD screen on the atrix has been having some none pleasant reviews with colors and app recreation. The superamoled on samsungs has burn in and doesnt save battery so the SuperLCD doesnt look that bad huh?
Battery has been consistently getting 9-12 hours heavy use by many reviewers
the processor in the inspire is pulling 1976 quadrant scores bone stock
sideloading really not a big deal, use airplane mode or sideload wonder machine
any questions?
nope thanks man, I'm 99% sold! I just need to google what side load wonder machine is lol. I'm loving the build quality and support from HTC and you guys here, though I've never rooted or flashed or anything. Guess I'll start learning

side load wonder machine is from android central and it allows you to sideload apps on AT&T phones that dont allow it. PS theres a thread in one of the Inspire sections on here
ah, sounds sweet. I'm getting excited. Though, I'll probably wait for MWC to at least happen in case they surprise us. And one last question I think, anyone have pictures or a source of the 2 different colors they have?

its weird at CES they showed a bronze color if you check out the videos you will see but now they are all black, im thinking CES was a desire HD with AT&T logo on the back, thats also why they didnt allow you to turn on the phone

LOL @ SGS2 owners

So I have been inspecting their forums since they went on sale in the UK today via Phones4u.
They are having tons of trouble rooting and they can't play Tegra 2 games.
Quadrant scores are around 3000.
Maybe unlocked bootloaders will come back, but this is the exact reason I bought the G2X. I imagine a powerful, open device will get a lot of developer support.
You have a source for the "locked bootloader" info?
The battery life seems to destroy the G2x battery life, from initial reviews that I have seen.
Also the Samoled+ display looks amazing and blacks are truly black hehe.
Here's a link to a nice review of the phone
http://www.jrin.net/2011_04_24/samsung-galaxy-s-2-in-depth-review
All in all it seems to be a solid phone, but I still love my G2x
Edit: I love it because of the developer support it will have, the screen isn't that bad I really love the colors and the brightness, and tegra 2 of course, there's plenty of +'s for the G2x as there is for the GS2
so when does this hit the US?
my g2x is troubling with the battery, bleed, reboot issue

Lol the point of this thread?
The phone hasn't even been officially out for a day
Of couse it wont play tegra games it needs a tegra gpu for that.
And quadrant is total BSnot to mention sgs2 is clocked at 1.2ghz were gx2 is only 1ghz
Sgs2 is better than g2x in hardware not to mention plays pretty much every video format no prob
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I don't think they can play tegra2 games because the euro one comes with a exynos processor or some reason to that affect. But whatever, thats just one downfall of that beast of a phone. Lets hope Sammy has fixed the GPS and lag issues right outta the gate. Secondly, they just released the phone so I assume its going to take a little time to get the phone rooted. I was about to go and buy the G2x but it wasn't that impressive when i was at the store so now I'm impatiently waiting for the Sensation and GS2.
Hopefully by the time the GS2 releases, the G2x will have all its bugs fixed and I can compare all 3 at once to see which one I like the best.
I guess Mali in Exynos is another new platform for developers to learn to make games for.
I can't imagine the gs2 havning better battery life. It has the same size as the original galaxy s. With dual core and a bigger screen I'm sure it sucks the battery down. Not to mention what a battery hog amoleds are....I get great life on my gx2. Right about 20 hrs with normal use

Please tell that to all the people who are losing 10%+ every hour while the phone is idling...
My G2 with its 1300mAh gave me much much better battery life than my G2x currently does, but I just know that this is software related and hopefully (fingers crossed) CM7 will fix this.
Its my only gripe right now with the phone, that and the bleeding, but I plan to change my phone out at a later date for a new one, $500 outright for the phone I expect it to act like one.
I'm about to go in for exchange #1
These issues for 550 after tax is ridiculous imo
What ever happened to QA, on expensive electronics
How do I remove CWM by the way???

I'm pretty sure the Galaxy S2 already has been rooted and the bootloader comes unlocked. And for tegra games, it has a mali gpu, not a ULP so of course it will not play them.
Sounds like someone is jealous of the SGS2 specs.

Well the CM team already said the battery driver was haywire. My chinese android tablet was like that, it would say it was at 15% within minutes, but would run for like 4-5hours.
CM7 is almost among us and hopefully you guys will get a more accurate reading. My battery life is amazing. Heavy use and I get a 20% warning around midnight (8am-midnight). This is also under the assumption that you know the phone is new and I can't put it down. This is with a PUSH exchange, Gmail, Facebook/Twitter LP widgets, gaming, and normal phone use.
Of everything, the battery is the last thing I can complain about.
Comparing the phones here are things I don't like:
No HDMI port (separate attachment)
Lack of a dedicated Search button (I use this religiously)
No Tegra 2 which I suspect will be really big when it comes to gaming.
Those are just a few things I notice hardware wise. Software wise I don't know.
The locked bootloader is a drag. Rooting shouldn't be a problem as we've had rooting capabilities on the N1. I'm sure just like with our G2x phones, it should use the same exploits.

Even if the battery driver is wonky, it still is lasting only 9 hours for me, in real world time. It's fully charged because I leave it charging all night when I go to bed. So from full charge, no matter what the reading says, to dying and shutting down after 9 or 10 hours is real.
Looks like the SGSII people are happy so far. Dunno what you're LOLing at.
I'm just happy P990/999 is cheaper =)
I'm not sure what is being done differently. Have you tested it on a bare bones stock config (right out of format and setup)?
The is one thing that I think is so weird how there are lots of varying problems across the board. Like some people have greyed out options while others have bad battery life.
Here are my About Phone info. Maybe we have varying software loads:

Your battery drain is easily fixable. Get "wheres my droid power" from the market (It's Free) and see what is eating it. I've had 2 issues. One was yahoo mail for some ungodly reason it was eating my battery like mad. I FC'd it and its been fine since. The other was Wifi calling. Even though it was disabled it was eating 5x the battery of any other app, ALL THE TIME. I froze it out (luckily I don't use it often) and I have had 0 problems since. I am nearing 15 hours today w/ 3 full hours of display on games/surfing/what have you plus about 30 min of phone use and a couple of five minute or so speakerphone calls.

My battery is fine. Guess I got a better one than you. I take my G2X off the charger at 5am and it doesn't need to go back on the charger until 7pm with moderate use. With heavy use it still lasts until I get home from work at 3pm. Much better than my Vibrant did.

Mugen coming out with super extended battery within 2 months! YES!

Pleased to inform you that Mugen is working on a super extended battery! Thank You, God! So within the next two months I can lay my hands on that very good bad boy! (and I mean the phone itself). lol
I'd been thinking between the G2X and the sensation. The Sensation seems to be the perfect-pretty-much-has-all-that-I-need phone. G2X is pretty much the same, however, I want a 4.3 incher, I don't particularly care for stock Android, I currently have the HTC HD2 and quite like the Sense UI (and 3.0 just looks fantastic!). Plus the colors of icons (I’m not sure what the term is, I’m not exactly a tech head, you know) and such on the G2X, from videos I've seen...I don't know..it just looks cheap to me. *shrugs* sue me, I guess. HOWEVER!! The G2X has an extended battery with Mugen. Now for PDAs(this suddenly sounds like an out-dated term, no?), not having an extended batter is pretty much a dealbreaker! I hate the idea of my charge lasting only a few hours. Ideally, my phone should last me at least 2-3 days with moderate use and a full day with heavy use. No ifs or buts!
So anyways, moral of story:- Now I can go for the Sensation since there'll be an extended battery out soon!! yay!!
Dear [....],
Thank you for your email!
Yes, the larger battery for Sensation is under processing at the moment!
Will release within 2 months!
Please contact me if you need any additional info.
Best Regards,
Jan
any idea on capacity?
Further Update:-( I asked about the possible capacity and if there might be a protective case that will work with the phone after extended battery is inserted).
Dear [....],
Thank you for your email!
The larger size should be over 3000mAh, I don't think we will work on the protective case for this model, I need to ask our marketing team!
Because our holster sales not really good, so we only have 3 models for the holster at the moment!
Please contact me if you need any additional info.

"should be over 3000mAh"
This is good news. Have had my Sensation for a few weeks now and am looking for an extended battery.
Now if I can wait that long.... I mean I REALLY need one.
maybe you can get the chichitec or anker in the meantime. If I had the senstion now, I would.
should be over 3000mah, hmm.. keeping fingers crossed for that.
NOOB QUESTION: I have never bought a 3rd party battery. i found this one on mugen's site
http://mugenbattery.com/htc-sensation-extended-battery.htm
its 1800mAh. Is that going to be much better than the 1500 stock battery?
is quality an issue with lithium batteries?

I have had the mugen 1800mAh battery for about 3 weeks and it is better than stock, by how much?, tough to answer because i use my phone differently each time I turn it on.
For example, one time i might play a few rounds of field runners and angry birds with some texts thrown in plus a few calls, next time i might just check email.
as a guide only for my use i was getting roughly 12 to 14 hours on stock, now i get about 15 hours or so..not a huge improvement but any improvement is better than none.
The reason I like the Sensation is that it is 4.3" yet still thin and sleek. With CHICHITECH 1900 battery my Sensation easily last more than a day without much tweak, and it doesn't require any special battery cover or alter the thickness of the device. There really isn't any need to use a super thick battery to make the Sensation last for 2 days, that ruins everything.
You know, I've had my Sensation for 2 weeks now and Granted I have Android Revolution 1.1.8 on it, but haven't had any bad battery issues. Although, it seems to eat the most power while I'm sleeping. But I'm pretty sure that has to do with my backup. But it hasn't bugged me at all. The phone's battery definitely lasts me the whole day and then I charge up at night.
Are you guys really getting so little battery time that a bigger battery is necessary? Cause I definitely get about 18-20 hours before I hit 20%-ish.

Yes definitely necessary. Don't know how you manage to have that much up time. Well I know I'm a heavy user but still even if I was not I know I would not achieve that much on time. Not unless I started disabling things like background sync and other stuff like turning screen brightness down.
Hmmm.... Maybe your sensation is running on both cores of the dual core processor. Lol

invest in tasker. i did and i really can't be any happier. not only does it do a lot of stuff that i want automatically but it makes my battery last a lot longer. i have my phone set to auto sync every 15 minutes and i have my display turned down to 40% unless i open specific apps and tasker will turn the display up under certain conditions. it really has helped me get a lot more time out of my battery so you may want to try that first instead of waiting to invest $50+ in an extended battery
I will have check tasker out. Thanks.
This is my third android device and it seems with each upgrade I am always tryingto find new ways to extend my battery life. Pretty sick of it actually. I would like to by a phone and let it do what its suppose to do with out me tweeking and hacking. This is the first time I considered buying an extended battery vs messing with battery saver and task killer apps that actually end up preventing your phone from doing as it should in the first place.
Sorry done venting. Tasker looks like it may be the diamond in the rough. Thanks for the info.
chichitec, go with it for now if you need extended battery life. I did many battery cycle and tests with the 1900mah battery and results as follow: 44+ hrs for light users. 30hrs+ for medium and power users roughly 16-20hrs battery life.

Lol

Definitely a good question. I have the O/C daemon running 1.72GHz in OnDemand mode, and while the screen is off 276MHz.
I have 3 GMail accounts that sync contacts, calendars and email. I have 1 IMAP email account set to check every 5 minutes during peak hours and every hour during off peak hours. I have Titanium Media Sync set to backup all my pics and Ti Backup files to my FTP server whenever there's a change. I have SMS Backup+ set to wait 3 minutes after each SMS and back it up. I have WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS on at all times. I'm also using Chainfire 3D OpenGL drivers. I'm on stock screen brightness settings as they work well. I have my Facebook account synced as well. I'm about to add Google+.
So I have a lot going on. HOWEVER, I've removed a lot of HTC stuff I didn't care about:
Not using Rosie or Sense UI stuff (other than the lock screen). I've removed all the bloatware crap like HTC Hub, HTC stocks, HTC sync, etc... I've removed HTCs navigation crap and removed any applications I'll never use like Twitter and Peep and all that other junk. I'm using ADW with a static wall paper.
Hint: Sense UI and all its animated crap as well as live wall papers eat battery power like crazy. Even if your screen is off, that stuff is still processing stuff in the background. This is why when you're using the stock *everything* this 1.2GHz dual core phone runs like a Droid X. LOL Slooooooow.
Once I got rid of that crap and put ADW on, my phone became the super fast power-sipping monster it is now. Rare is the case of any lag or stuttering. Games fly and look fantastic. And everything works perfectly on my phone.
So there you have it... You can compare your setup to mine and tell me if you see where your phone's battery is getting drained like crazy.
EDIT:
By the way, I'm using Android Revolution 1.1.8 right now on the Unity v5 kernel.

do you have to be rooted to use tasker?

Purchasing a Sensation?

Hi, I'm planning on purchasing an HTC Sensation now that I've gotten rid of my iPhone 4.
I do have some issues regarding the purchase. I've seen threads commenting on dust collecting under screen and a poor battery life. Are these issues common on the phone? And if they are, is it possible to clean out the screen when the issue occurs? I've heard about a 1900mAh battery so I guess that's a better fix for the battery.
I'm on a T-Mobile family plan with no data plan. If I purchase an unlocked Sensation, will T-Mobile automatically add a data plan to my line? This happened to me when I used my iPhone 4 I got as a present on my AT&T line.
Thanks!
Not had my phone for all that long so I can't comment on the dust under the screen issue yet. But for battery life there are a few things that can be done, if you root your phone you can get SetCPU and underclock your phone when it's screen is off to extend the battery life or get Juice Defender, which disables wifi and data when the screen is off but turns them back on every 15 minutes to allow it to sync and will then turn them off again to save battery.
But even without a rooted phone, although the battery life certainly isn't good it will just about get you through a long day. But obviously you can also get a 19000mAh battery or even a further extended one as well as an external battery that can charge your phone up providing you don't mind carrying one around.
Also, can the Sensation play flash videos natively? I've heard some mixed claims regarding that.
I have had the Sensation for quite some time now and I don't have one spec of dust under my screen. And battery life is good. It last me through the day but I bought the Anker 1900mAh battery because it is so cheap and so amazing lol.
I would recommend the Sensation to anyone.
Anker 10,000 maH battery......
I purchased the Anker 10,000 maH battery. I had to...... I use my phone all day long. So I really don't turn on my main computer everyday. Especially since I installed a terminal emulator on my Sense. Now I can correct code, and scripts on the fly. I can re-charge my phone 5 times with this brick. Fits in my shirt pocket, and it takes an hour from 10% battery to 100%. Not bad.....

to the op. just swap out the sim card and dont change a thing.. you will be fine.
picked up mine slightly used. no issues.. am running the 1900 battery.
great phone..
beers
I have an XE, great screen, no dust and good battery life.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
Dust under the screen is a common issue, but it's only a lot more common than it should be - the number of Sensations affected is still a very low amount. The safest way to take care of it is to go through T-Mo or HTC and they'll clean it out. Trying to do it yourself will definitely void the warranty cause you'll have to dismantle the phone.
Battery can be terrible, but a chichitec, anker, or mugen 1900mAh battery along with a good rom/kernel/clockspeed combo fixes that. I'm on Android HD 3.x gingerbread with the stock kernel, clocked at 1.5Ghz when the screen is on, 768Mhz when it's off, heavy user and I can make it through the day. The other thing to consider is how you use the phone. The Super-LCD looks crazy crisp, and it is, sunlight visibility is great and color reproduction is nice - although it's no SAMOLED. Here's the problem though, it's a mega power drainer. If you listen to a lot of music on your phone or maybe stream Pandora comedy, you shouldn't have any issues. If you're an all-day facebooker or constantly texting/emailing, that screen will destroy your battery and I couldn't recommend the phone, as much as I love it Don't get me wrong, you could do it, but you'll probably need a spare battery or a charger with you.
With the 1900mAh battery, I can have the screen on constantly and texting/emailing/browsing for about 3 hours straight. If I keep the screen on and play games, 2 and a half hours. Not much difference even though one is a lot more intensive than the other. The S-LCD panel is a huge battery drain.
I haven't had any problems with dust under the screen.
Battery life great for the amount of time i use the phone everyday (screenshot attached).
If you're up for it i'd suggest you flash a custom ROM to use the full potential of the phone. Personally i like Android Revolution HD, but it's all down to personal preference. Try a few different ones and use what you like the most.
Hi guys!
First things first:
Happy New Year to everyone!
I'm thinking of an upgrade (from HTC Vision & iPhone 4S) and looking at Sensation as an option and I've got a few questions regarding that.
My main concern is it not to late to jump to a Sensation? are there good developers still around? I remember RMK jumped from G2 to sensation, and he's still here, how about others? Any rumors or plans to abandon Sensation? I'd imagine alot of them getting the new GN, I can't really be bothered, rather have an option between Sense and AOSP.
My other question would be is the hardware acceleration fully functional on current ICS roms?

I'm running RVHD 5.02 and its still running at 1.2 GHz.. I haven't figured out why. I'm running super tuner, and setcpu. It's running quick, but not at the advertised speed.

It's "there" but it doesn't run very well. Barely feels like its on. Just wait a month or two, and stable ICS will be released.

Despite having GNexus I would recommend the HTC Sensation. Had it before gnex and it's very good phone. Had two small issues :
1) battery under heavy use drain fast - bigger battery recommended.
2) random ringtone/notification change (this could be related to 2.08.401.1 ROM, which isn't officially released, but is a test ROM).
Other than this is VERY good device and won't let you down.

Disappointing? Nothing . Only issue I had, was the "volume ghost", but after flashing 4.0.2 all OK. It's different device and as I was hard addict to Sense, I'm surprised how quickly get used to GNex. Love it
i have no dust on my screen yet. i buy it 3 month ago.
ps:i come from China.hah
The dust problem is annoying, but it's no problem to get a new phone when the first one has dust under the screen. The Akku is okey for one day full use, when you load it every night. When you need better akku there are good ones with 1900mAh, on Amazon Germany for example the one by Anker.
Thanks for the input everybody!
Regarding the data plan. I currently have a family plan with no data. When I purchase my Sensation on ebay or any other auction site, and then use my T-Mobile sim, will I automatically be added a data plan?

Need some personal input :)

Hey guys! I might be getting this phone, need some input from first person users!
Firstly, i can get one of these for approx 300-400 and its about the same price as what a lot of people are asking for the Samsung Galaxy S 2 (SGH-T989) i find this to be rediculous. Every review ive read/watched raved about the One S. Well i want some personal input i personally think its worth buying the one S at that price then the SGS2 at the same price. But i have a couple concerns with HTC......
Ive had two HTC phones
HTC Touch Pro 2 (RhodiumW)
HTC HD2
And the HD2 gets HORRIBLE service where my TP2 got plenty of service both on T-Mobile..
So im hoping its just my HD2 and not HTC's in general. However i have had someone with the HD7 say he loses service when holding the device. I know the HD2 and HD7 both have the antenneas in the bottom of the device. (Dumb if you ask me) hows the HTC One S with this situation? Does it still get great service while holding it? Like my HD2 could have full bars, but if i begin to use it it goes to NO service -.-
Thanks all for your input!
The One S of a great device, great build quality, nice feel in the hand, excellent camera, but I had several issues that led me to switch to my current GS3. With my time with the One S, I encountered random signal loss, & poor battery life. I would use the data network & it would drop from full bars to none then climb to 2 then back full. As for battery life I would get 2 & half hours of screen on time. What I disliked the most the pitiful 9.93GB of storage. & that is my two cents.

Well the signal loss seems due to software not hardware (A plus for me) and i dont think any phone will get decent battery life without an extended battery. lI dont judge phones by battery life anymore. lol. My HD2 has a 1250 Mah battery xD

My GS3 has solid signal, & it's 2100 mah battery runs great all day if you don't mind the limited space and "decent" battery life then go for it, it is the slimmest of phones I've owned plus it has a sweet camera
