It's not an easy process the first time you do it and takes a lot of research so you don't brick your device.

Thanks. I have opend about 50 sites and iam still without clue.
There is no tutorial how to do a backup of you windows so that later you can turn it bac if i want to sold a phone.
Can you help me?

I try it from the first minute when i cross on this site. cuz everybody calling others if thay didnt look there that thay are semi or full noob.
So i tryed to find there and i found backup proces for magician htc.
The proces is not working with my Touch Dual. So a thought is there some univerasl back up software?
I tryed to use Sprite BackUp 6 but i do not get whole back up screen :S

and if you try flash tools and roms from devices
not being the type you own you can kill your device
as i said read the wiki about your SPC! device and then read it again
and read posts in the forum for your SPC! device
there are a lot of people here who killed their devices
because they tried to take on more then they could handle

if you got a magician then look at the first howto

apart from the rom itself the only thing you really need to backup is
programs you installed yourself
if you sync with outlook using activesync all your data would be there
and in the files dir and....
and no backup prog does both rom and data

No i have Dual touch and i tried the MTTY.exe and syntax " d2s "
But ill getting commant error or it give me just cmd>
So im stuck.
I just want to backup system i dont care for sms,email....

I could not encourage myself to test this ROM because while extracting files from RAR, i got this error:
! \Litev041extreme.rar: Invalid or corrupt authenticity information
Might be i will detroy my device if this ROM update fails at the end.

Oh, I hate that! Why can't even one upload be successful??

Thats not a problem...same error popped up for me also..
But i continued flashing the ROM and it was successfull...

Well I think that is only an INFO and not a warning regarding the archive integrity.
BTW I have downloaded the rom with my ISDN (it took more than 2 hours) so this is my
MD5: 78BAC6532B49D767522EA6A7FFEC501F

I made it with WinRAR 3.8 Prof. So maybe an update helps??
Anyway, the archive itself is just fine!

Slow ROM
I tested the ROM, although it is named extreme lite but when used with toggle view Menu, it is quite slow as compared to other 6.1 ROMs like (from fireburned 1.1 or Hikey's ROM)
I reverted back to fireburned v1.1

Well, its not too bad. I used Gonzo's rose rom but left that too many hanging problems, I think he might not be available to solve the issues may be later. I switched to Extreme lite. Its quite good. I find some problems if those are solved I think it would be stable.
Problems..
1. Right Menu button works very slow and sometimes hangs. I get to see this in sms app. Folder manager, IE, dialer etc I mean mostly in basic windows application but not in third party apps.
2. Some of the applications loads very slowly and sometimes fails or hangs basically, Comm manager, Internet sharing sometimes connection item in settings.
I may get some more errors but I noticed this much only. I've tried to reset to device almost 10 times.
Can we get Dialer screen and volume screen as in Rose ROM? Please don't tell me to switch to Lite or other Rose Roms because I want to use the phone not to reboot always. Too much hanging issues.

I am not really sure what causes those problems, so unless I get struck by a flash of genius, there won't be an update soon. I don't have much time the next couple of weeks either. I just hope HTC will finally give us an official ROM...

@frauhottelman: do you think is possible to cook phone canvas,and volume control OEM packages into an WM 6.0 rom? I was thinking to add those 2 packages in the NEO 1.1 ROM...
Maybe adding the 19700 XIP or the 20279...

Hi, i have desire unlocked with Asia ROM 1.19.707.7 , HBoot 0.8
This ROM has selecting of Chinese and other far-east languages which bothering me at the input selecting and i don't use at all.
I want to use your method to install WWE ROM only without Rooting my device (as i understand ).
HTC informed me that my device is Unbranded Unlocked But Region locked !!
And it seems i have to go for Gold card , Root , Unroot to install back the new stock WWE ROM Bla , Bla , Bla which i am trying to avoid at the moment.
NOW
1- Is this method will install WWE 1.15 to my device without a need to Root?
2- Can i upgrade after the WWE 1.21 using the RUU classic method?
3- Is the HBoot 0.8 will remain?

Just goldcard and then flash
If you have Windows then just use the RUU these scripts do not do anything extra/allow you to get past anything they are just RUUs for Linux & Mac.

The script explains everything you need to do, just double click 1extractrom.sh and then 'run in terminal'
If there's anything you don't understand just ask me and I will be glad to help

I tried from Ubuntu -
after executing the script, I'm loading the RUU with wine- the installer disappears when its close to finish, im hitting enter on the terminal, a file called rom.zip appears on my home but that's it. Nothing happens! The rom.zip stays at 0 bytes!

I do not know if I got it right. Would I be able to unroot my desire with these scripts from osx and linux?
(Like I would do it with htc sync and the restore ruu.exe in windows)

You have to flash new ROM. It should be Shipped ROM, if your phone is CID locked.
Don't worry ActiveSync isn't connested. Just power off device, press Camera button and plug-in usb cable until three collor screen. Then run ROM upgrade utillity.
It's important to use correct ROM version (the same language ver.), otherwise it will show you an error message.

what is the version lite?

1. I'm not an expert, I only know a little more than you
2. I can't cook ROMs. There are people who really can do it...
3. Lite version has more storage and uses less RAM. It also has less programs inside the ROM. For more info look here

Have you tried a Hard Reset already? IF the flashing (or some procedures to prepare it) did not succeed then you get back to the bootloader screen. Nothing lost yet, but you must get back to the OS level to continue.
Suspecting that the flash went ok (did you ever use the custom ROM on this device?) - then probably the imgfs is corrupted which prevents a clean boot into the OS. A hard-reset will fix this. It requires a little finger juggling though:
1.) remove battery to switch off device
2.) reinsert battery
3.) press and hold (!) L+R (both) softkeys
4.) switch on device (briefly press power button), but keep 3.) pressed
5.) wait until a white screen comes up and asks about the hard reset
6.) confirm with the green/call button

So does the device work when the USB cable is not connected?
- what when the the charger is connected?
- what when the PC is connected?
- what when you take another USB cable?
It could be that the USB socket has a HW problem that triggers the fallback to the boot.

Did you use any program to CID or SIM unlock your Vox device? If not, tobbbie can be right...

when I connect my htc to give the battery charge
lights and pulls the color screen
From that point I can not charge the battery
I have to turn to see that the battery is charging
Also my battery is damaged only lasts 15 minutes and discharged

@gutek85: He has two devices - a Vox and an Excalibur.
@chinitopex: You should discuss the problems in either forum separately.
Please tell in each thread then more about the background of the devices, especially if they have ever proven to operate normally (with shipped ROM). If you did not check the original behavior first and miss to describe the exact circumstances under which the problem appeared, a suitable advice is hard to give.
It it is impossible (for me at least) to read your mind and base good advice on missing information, speculation and guess work.

[Q] Chevron Problems

I've been having trouble with unlocking my wp7 device, (Samsung Focus). Once i select the first two boxes and hit unlock, i get an error saying
"sorry i'm having trouble communicating with the phone".
-Please make sure it's connected using USB
-Please start Zune application
At first i thought it was because of it running a ROM of Mango, so i restored the device and i still get the same error. i did the certificate correctly and even tried the registry edit thing, but no success. Any help?

What version are you running now currently? Only versions before 7392 work. Also make sure to double check you added the certificate. Open the /windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts file and make sure you removed all windows live entries as mentioned in the article. You should also make sure your phone is unlocked and I would also try running Zune 4.7 if all else does'nt work.

How can i tell which files are the windows live entries?

after i tried it when i was running MANGO (7712), i heard that the ROM has a block against chevron, so i restored back to my original ROM (7390), and i still got the same error. also i made sure that i wasn't a guest on the zune connection and that i was signed in

downgrading seems like a problem, ive found stock roms but really non explanation, is there a thread on xda abdout it?

then u need to install advance config tool to prevent relock ,update with zune to nodo

he means after downgrading to 7004 from mango, unlocking then going back to mango

I'm sorry guys but the problem is not gone and is very annoying. im literally pulling out my hair at 2am when i have school tomorrow, trying to figure this out, i broke one of the usb ports on my laptop from the anger this thing causes, as you know im having the same exact problem the things ive done are
installed the correct cert, (infact i've installed plenty, like alot)
edited the host file like 22 times, (each time i start chevron the developerservices.windowsphone.com thing comes back)
uninstalled/installed zune multiple times and multiple versions.
my phone is running 7004
right now im going to do a hard reset and hopefully i'll get it right, i'm really starting to regret this phone....(-___- )

My focus does the same... Chevron saids has trouble connecting, and the host file has the entries everytime I've opened.
There is any solution?

CHEVRON UNLOCK works only on a 7004 pre-NODO ROM:
Chervron unlock (vista/windows 7)
1. install first Windows Phone Developer tools to get the app loader from Microsoft, the developer reg key in your registry
2. with mobile internet browser to cr-developers.co.cc/cwp7.cer and install. the chevron cert.
3. plug in phone and leave zune running
4. run chevronwp7.exe (as administrator) , click both checkboxes
5. click unlock
Pervent Re-lock (stay chevron unlocked)
1. Install a xap installer
XAPDeployX-V0.9.zip tnx kuerbis2
2. Install a reg- Editor WP7RootTools 0.7 alpha.xap tnx Heathcliff7
3. Now open the Registry Editor on your phone. Now navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > DeviceReg.
Now scroll to PortalUrlInt, remove its value data and save it. Do the same with PortalUrlProd. Both entries should now be "empty" (but not deleted!)

but I can't at all! Chevron don't detect my phone. I've deleted the host entries infinite times.
I've reinstalled official software from clean 7004 to Mango.

At this point, man, you really should just use the official ChevronWP7 Labs unlocker. Yeah, it's not free ($9), but you're not trying to take advantage of a security vulnerability that was patched most of a year ago via a certificate which may have already expired and using an app that hasn't been updated in ages.
