I've been playing with ROMS again. I've sampled most of the 2.1 based stuff and today I installed Gumbo 1.5 Overclocked, thanks to toast's Kernel to 767 mhz.
Instructions are here http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-hero-roms-hacks/10138-gumbo-1-5c-overclock.html
This is speedy and very stable! Think I'll stay on this until 2.1 gets official released and the magic gets worked on it.
I could never to go back to 1.5 (running Beezy 4 currently) after having 2.1 on my phone. I have no stability issues or speed concerns with this rom. Actually, that's a lie, I do. The Bluetooth on this sucks big time. Gumbo 1.5C will pair and work flawlessly with my Pioneer Avic D3 car stereo but I have yet to find a 2.1 rom that will. That is still not enough of a bugger to get me to go backwards though.

Well I just thought folks who were still on Gumbo and didn't want to switch to 2.1 yet would appreciate the info.
Or, every party needs a pooper that's why we invited you!

I was liking the idea of the overclocked 1.5 but what stopped me was no jit support for it. So back to 2.1. You are right though. It is fast. Then again so is 1.6 donut.
I'm too settled in to try it, but thanks for the info.
Sounds cool.

Like O..M..G...wipe me with a ROM
I've actually been thinking VERY seriously lately about going back to Gumbo 1.5c. This was the fastest and most stable ROM I ever ran. I simply couldn't resist trying out 2.1, and I got reeled in by it.
I absolutely love the new features that 2.1 brings to the table, but honestly, there are still a lot of bugs. Every 2.1 ROM I've run starts out pretty good, but after a few days, they all seem to slow down a lot. I have even run some overclocked 2.1 ROMs, and I still feel they are too slow for comfortable use.
I firmly believe that the Sprint 2.1 RUU leak is nowhere near final code. It's just way too slow to being anything that Sprint would be ready to put on tens of thousands of customer's phones. I think when we see the final Sprint release, there will most likely be a drastic uptick in speeds.

Thank you. This is my opinion exactly. What the DEVS have shown us with the work done on the 2.1 ROMS is just how awesome they will be once we get the official 2.1 release and the Kernel Source.
I may nandroid back to 1.5c this weekend and check it out.

Seriously? DONT encourage him.
I gave this a try with a pancake 0.1(based on gumbo 1.5c) i had. I have really been impressed. I have ran almost every 2.1 rom we have, darchdroid, damagecontrol, fresh, aloysius, fresh toast, ic3rom, sushi, and a few more im sure. I've been very impressed with the developers work, and I know they are working with an unofficial RUU. I share the opinion of an above poster, than I handle 2.1 for a few days, I love the new features, and it excites me when a new rom comes out, to see what new things the devs have incorporated, but i will probably stay with 1.5 until we get the source code/official update.
With that being said, this overclock patch on pancake 0.1 has been rock stable for me for 3 days now. Just today i flashed to the 1.5c overclock with BFS, and have been running it for about 12 hours, a bit faster. Absolutely no problems yet.
I couldn't be happier!
thanx guys. im glad everyones enjoying OC and BFS. good to see it reviving more then just the .27 eclair builds.
the only thing I couldn't give up is google nav
i thought about going back too, but these devs have spoiled me, i do still have the audio issues with almost all the leak roms even after the audio fix, i guess i just have that lucky phone
Sometimes old and busted is ok huh?
is there a way to overclock the asus transformer? because ive been reading about the xoom/gtablet/sgt's overclocking capabilities, but still havent read anything about the transformer being overclocked
We need an overclocking kernal for that, since we don't have full access to everything we cant overclock. (yet!) I expect we should be able to overclock to 1.5 easily.
any update on OC? We already have the source code for TF.
Haven't seen anything about it either. I Would like to know though!

Once a custom kernal is released that allows us to overclock it will be all over the blogs, I would assume. So i would imagine that it isnt too far away based on all the publicity the dev would receive.
The full kernel source has been released and can be modded now. I know some people are working on it already. I dont think it would be too hard to incorporate thexoom's ocing into the transformer. After all the transformer code is what helped the kernel dev for the xoom activate the sd card

So an unlocked bootloader is not required for overclocking? I didn't think I'd miss the OC from the XOOM but when I just played Avatar at 1280x728 HD the XOOM was much smoother than the TF Also, the sound on the TF stopped whereas the XOOM kept going. I assume it had to do with the massive amount of data from the softdecode... So PLEASE make the OC happen
Is there any update on progress for overclocking? This would definitely be something to look forward to since we have stock android already, and because we have the honeycomb source won't be released till December.
So it looks like kernel work could be a big priority till then since there isn't much else till then.
Thunderbolt Rooted!
BUMP!
C'mon guys, there must be someone on this forum that knows how to modify the Tiamat kernels for the XOOM so make it work on the TF I really didn't think that the TF would be receiving sooo little development despite its apparently good sales!
People are only just now starting to receive them. Give people time.. Not everyone is a developer.
i know for a FACT that there are dev's working on this. The number one rule of dev forums is, well, dont talk about fightclub. But the number 2 rule is don't ask for ETA's. These guys do this for free, and if i remember correctly, I'm not even sure the dev working on these has a tf yet.

I'm not asking for an ETA and I appreciate people working on it in silence. But it would be nice to at least know that something's going on After all, that kind of development is the best reason to donate beer money just like I did for the great guys at the XOOM forum

It might be that the metal casing of the XOOM helps disperse the produced heat. The TF has plastic backing so it might not work as efficiently

Has anybody tried out this alpha release yet ? If so does it run good ? Is it smooth ? Just curious. I was gonna give it a try just wanted some feedback before I do.
I have been using the CM9 builds for a while. If you don't need the camera or other things that are known as not working, it's quite solid.
Cool i'll give it a try, don't care about the camera. Are the OC tables working now ?
I don't overclock mine, so I haven't tested that. Sorry.
well in the last version the OC tables didn't work, so i was just curious about that, I like my phone to hall butt lol.
As far as I know oc doesnt work.

OK, I need to ask - which version of CM9 are you using DroidX? I'm thinking about getting a triumph for my wife (she want's and android smart phone over her "dumb" nokia)... I know that thing has got to be upgradable to ICS, but wasn't sure which build you could use...
What ROM and Kernal do you think i should flash?
I want a fast, stable rom... I think stock is pretty fast but i haven't installed any custom roms yet so i dont know how fast it can be...
But i also want a decent battery life... right now i get about 15 hours on stock but i do use my phone pretty heavily.
and please dont just tell me to flash them and find out which ones i like... i dont have time, and i need a stable phone.
*I heard TPC v3 with Da_G's kernal was good but a while ago i heard it had SOD problems? is that still a problem or can it be fixed?
**I'm also thinking undervolting would be good. can someone give me instructions on how to do that, and what frequencies to use to improve battey without a noticable speed difference
Flash them all. Pick the one YOU like the most. All have pros and cons.

i flashed sky-ics and when i pull down on the notification bar nothing happens..
Personally I am on stockmod 2 with silver's kernel. But everybody had their own opinion. That'd why I said try them all. Use each fir a couple days then go with the one you like. Don't forget nandroid before you flash anything, just in case.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
if you dont have the time to flash multiple ROMs to see which one you like then you shouldnt be trying to mod your phone at all. flashing a different ROM successfully and restoring your previous settings with titanium backup is about the shortest amount of time you can spend modding. its the more than likely troubleshooting that comes with using non official software that takes up the bulk of the time. and no ROM is perfect and we dont know the balance of stability and speed your looking for, so we could all say a different ROM-kernal combo and you would be in the same situation of having to try a few out.
if you must know at this moment i am using skyics 7.4 with fauxs kernal but yesterday i was using alien rom with da_g s kernal which i flashed on saturday and before that i was switching off between quikwiz and buoyancy with a stockish kernal. i plan on using NexusMod 4 when it comes out for a little bit.
it all depends on my wants/needs from a ROM at that particular point in time.
Go with TPC, is faster than stock and just as stable. TPC was the ONLY Tom without sod issues, on any kernel, but I recommend faux's sky-kernel 009m and the fauxclock app to undervolt, waaaay better battery
I tried 4-5 ROM`s in last few weekis since I got Skyrocket. I am now on Sky-Ics 7.4fast ROM and it is the best one I used so far.
I've been on SKY-ICS for a couple of weeks also and have been fine it. But I agree you just need to install some ROMs and decide which you like best. I also liked the Coke ROM.
But these are all gingerbread, where is ice cream sandwich???
My wife has a Galaxy Captivate which has much better dev support and she's running ice cream sandwich. Ice cream sandwich is way better than gingerbread!!!
You should flash them all and find out which one you like best.
I didn't have time to read either...see how that works.
A. Making demands of other peoples time is not nice. Politely asking for something if you have put the time in reading and researching on your own but still cannot find an answer is a lot better.
B. Not reading is going to end you up BRICKED!
C. ROMS and Kernels act different for different people. I have issues with the current UCLA3 kernels, but others do not. This is not unusual with kerenls and ROMS on this phone.
D. Currently, I am using Alien 6 and the Kernel that Romracer included (non-UCLA3 update) and I like it alot. I havn't had a chance to test it 100% but so far so good. The kernel, however cannot be under / over clocked or volted.
So good luck, I have a feeling you are going to need it.

You need to relax, take a chill pill, breathe in, breathe out. Feel better now?
Most people don't know that because we don't spend every waking moment of our lives on XDA reading every thread through and through. This kind of info should be on a sticky or on a wiki in blatantly obvious fashion so anyone coming to this subforum can easily find the answer to why there is no ICS for the Skyrocket.
Hey so i wanna know what kernal and set up you have and if its running good for you. Im running synergy r73 with ziggy kernal clocked at 1.5 with lag free. It runs fine but i wanna try some different ones. This is for ICS
JB or ICS? From what I know, there are only kernels being offered from Imoseyon (on Rootzwiki) and Morfic (in original Dev forum). I would recommend making your nandroid backups and trying them all to see what runs well on your device. Every device performs differently when it comes to kernels.
