I have an Inspire 4G and running CM7. I tried to replace the boot animation with a custom one. Now that I don't like it I want the CM7 boot animation back. How can and where can I get it? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

Not sure if anyone has posted this but I ran upon this article on Lifehacker, it states that the Inspire 4G is supported. I haven't tried it but will soon!

Really? I'm actually running it right now, I have no lag and no reboot. I am running lordmods kernel so not sure if that is why I'm not experiencing any of your issues

No ext3 yet so you'd be better off selecting ext2

Uh oh
so after i installed MIUI with the dual boot app, it asked me if I wanted to boot into it. I am now sitting am my boot screen and it's not budging. I pulled the battery out and tried the volume up and power button but it vibrated a few times and gave me a blinking amber light. I am rebooting and sitting at a boot screen again after pulling the battery. I have ext4 recovery installed as well and cant get to hboot and then recovery. What do i do now?
after trying volume down and power, im good.
Been awhile since I last had to do this
so, what's the deal with the boot issue I had with this app.. Anyone else?

Did you install using ext2? Also did you let it sit long enough? When I first installed a rom, it took around 7 minutes on the white htc screen and then it booted. Its using your sdcard so your first boot is way longer than usual
Interesting maybe illvfinallyvtry miui, specially since ibjust picked up a 16 class 4 for 20 bucks muahaha O.O

Yes there is. Go to install ROM and click on the kernel then click install kernel and install the kernel on the ROM you want

Oh yes. This is awesome, had no idea it was even possible.
How long is it taking on your first boot? I've left my phone for 15 min and it never left the htc screen, you?

Hi,
Switching kernels is an easy process.
Copy the new kernel to the root of your sd card, wipe cache and dalvik, flash like a ROM and reboot.
If you are not happy with the newly flashed kernel, you can restore to the backup you made before flashing it.
Ok thanks for the speedy reply

You have to go at /system/media or /data/local with root explorer from an application and delete the bootanimation.zip

Look in the Themes & Apps section (bootsplashes).
There's also an app on the market that I can confirm works (I've used it several times before).
BootFlash Pro

Read a bit. About different phones, too.
Understand the concept.

Since you're already rooted, just download rom manager and flash the custom recovery (clockworkmod)

If your bootloader is unlocked you have to flash the boot IMG separate.

Since it is your first time, I would highly suggest making full nandroid backup of you phone and saving the file elsewhere. So that is something goes horribly wrong you can always revert. RomManager can do the backup I believe, though I use Titanium Backup Pro.

You need adb installed on your computer and phone should be in bootloader and plugged into computer via usb.
Place the recovery (let's call it recovery.img) in the fastboot folder in adb.
Then, in a command prompt navigate to the adb directory on your sd card. For instance, on my computer I have the simple adb install, so I would type
cd C:\adb
fastboot flash recovery.img
I have adb set up on my computer and I place the file in the same folder as fastboot and rename it to recovery.img then I open my command prompt in that window so its already where it needs to be and the I boot my phone into fastboot via adb and I type in the command that's suppose to flash it but it always tells me error unable to load am I missing a step? Do I need it on my SD card? It's driving me crazy I was unable to downgrade bc of this problem to

Make sure you have "Hide extensions for known file types" disabled in windows folder settings. It's possible the name of the file is actually recovery.img.img so you're directing adb to flash a filename that doesn't exist.
