Nexus s 4g 2.3.7 update - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anybody else gotten the update? I just got it but haven't installed it. Does anyone know what is different and will we lose root if updated?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium

U will lose root. U should go pull the update.zip from system/cache I believe and upload it here before u install it.

OK but one question...why upload it here?
Oh and how can I pull it...ill do it right now just explain it please
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium

If u upload it here some devs can do there magic with it to root it and have deodex rooted version for everyone to flash. U might need to have a megaupload account cuz the update will be to big to upload from xda

Can you just post the filename of the update? When 2.3.5 came out people were able to find the update on Google's servers once the filename was known.

He needs to capture a logcat when prompted but prior to downloading to grab the URL.

One guy has it and he's unsure how to retrieve it. A simple file name will work (or the URL from the logcat) to just pull it manually. The file itself will work equally as well.

Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium

This is the URL for the last update you just need to change the filename to the new update and it should work
edit: here is the link for the newest update straight from google http://android.clients.google.com/p...41.signed-sojus-GWK74-from-GRJ90.2e8d4014.zip

The update is flagged by IMEI / ESN and rolls out slowly only to devices that have been flagged to receive it at checkin.
In Root explorer, you have root access? If you go to the root (/) you don't see /system or /cache?

ok. i never got the update notification...
thats why i wanted too install it manually. lol

Take all the zips extract all but 1. Take all the other ones extracted and use astro file manager and copy the apps into the one that wasn't extracted. Then flash it and your good to go. That's what I do.

If u put the other apps in one of the flashable zips like say u get the inverted mms app and copy past it to the inverted gmail.zip it will flash cuz there's already a script in that zip

Strange. They should be the same. Odd you have the new radio and such old software version. Its as if your build.prop didn't change. That screen should look like the OP's except the funky font.

Correct but you can re-root, or use ota root keeper, or flash a pr-rooted version.

If you want official ota! Just wipe the data from Google framework in settings and then go to system update and it should pull up that you have a android update and promote you to download. Not hard at all!.

Remove the sim then try. Just keep trying cause it appears att nexus users have no problem updating on Google search I did.

[Guide] How to get 50GB in Dropbox [FREE]

Mod edit: Doing this is considered piracy, as you're basically getting a free version of something you should be paying for, unless you have a specific device.

Actually the zip is making a link to the promo.... You can't reverse because it's a promo. It's adding space to your account, not your app... So you should not have problem

You make a mistake... You need to go with the file explorer in the .zip then go in /system/app in the zip and install the two APK that are there!
This will get removed from your account. The Dropbox team always catches this. Also, you're breaking site rules by uploading/link to the APK. I'm guessing you're using the Galaxy S3/Note 2 promotional Dropbox APK.
