[Q] [GT-i9020T] Where to find T-mobile Nexus S on Contract? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was in the market for another GT-i9020T using my extra upgrade but it seems that Bestbuy is out of stock in both the stores and online. Is there a store other than Bestbuy that still has T-mobile Nexus S available and will accept my upgrade to reduce the price?

Best Buy is the exclusive retailer of the Nexus S in the USA.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed that since the Nexus S 4g was released, it became available in four different places: Amazon, Bestbuy, Sprint stores, and Wirefly. I was hoping it was the same for the t-mobile version.

[Q] Preorder in US

Where can I pre order the phone in the US?
Bestbuy unfortunately only covers Sprint, At&t, and Verizon..
And even though the release date isn't even official yet, Bestbuy has for example begun taking preorders on the EVO 3D.

Best Buy covers all 4 major carriers.
Some stores do not carry tmo products. Try online.

They do. It's just that some Best Buy stores are only limited to covering 3 carriers which most of the time excludes T-Mobile.

I had no idea. Thanks for the clarification.
Yeah there haven't been any news yet on. Seeing as we are probably a month out it wont be for a while. T-mobile usually does preorders about a week before it comes out and you may have them a few days before they are slated to hit stores.
Also there are 0 best buy stores in my area that carry T-Mobile in the Kansas city area I'm aware of.

Preorder in-store bestbuy

Mannn I see everyone is about to get there phone but I preordered in store at bestbuy rather than online anyone else did the same?!
The order number they give you is not able to be tracked I just hope I get mine by friday :/
I'm about to preorder mine at BB. I have a friend who is a Samsung Manager within the store and he said BB will have the VZW GN3 on the 10th.

That's not bad for Verizon but I ordered the at&t version and it says it SHOULD be in by the 4th but with bb you never know..

My store ship date for the ATT note 3's was supposed to be today so I assume that is near the same for all best buys and you'll be able to pick it up the fourth as long as the store you ordered from has inventory.

Thanks for the info
Hopefully they'll have them in stock its one of those BB mobile stores in the mall only reason why I'm waiting cus my friend says ill be paying less than $300 for the phone

Sprint GS4 user upgrading to N5 - sim card question

Hi,
I'm seeing some conflicting into about this in several different threads, so I thought it might help to address it in one location. I'm a Sprint customer and currently have a GS4. Will I be able to use my existing sim card to activate my N5 when it comes, or will I have to get a new sim card?
Thanks!

You can use your existing SIM (you will likely need to call in to Sprint customer care to get it swapped over though). I'd suggest that you request a new SIM anyway, for use on the S4 at a later point.
Thanks. I'm selling the S4 and telling the buyer that they'll need to contact Sprint for a new sim.

Yep - it should be free - or you can order it for them too (in case the buyer insists on one)
See you soon Max. I'm getting mine delivered tomorrow.

Sweet, that was quick. I'm still working out the logistics. I'm going to have to sell the S4 first because I can't afford to be out 400 bucks until the phone is sold. I was thinking about just taking my upgrade with Sprint on December 1st, but then I found out that Sprint is only selling the 16gb model. I'll probably use my upgrade to buy an iPhone 5S for $200 and hopefully sell it for $600-$700.

Yeah, I hear you. Luckily I had a nice bonus at work last month, otherwise I wouldn't have dished out the money. Hoping to sell the S4 soon. Put it on Craigslist with no hits yet so I'll probably try Swappa and Ebay next. Kind of glad it didn't sell yet though because that will at least give me the chance to go back if I have major buyer's remorse.

The in store credit amount is higher, then you get 30% extra on top of that amount if you buy a used game for $1. Then use the in store credit to buy gift cards you would usually use.
You could buy all shell gas gift cards, then take them there and buy all VISA gift cards... or just use them for fuel like I am.

Interesting. Did they hassle you about the phone being brand new? The guy I talked to over the phone said they they can't buy a brand-new, unopened phone, and he acted like I stole it or something. I had to explain my plan and the fact that I don't even have the phone yet.

Not at all. We opened it together. Heck I literally never even touched the phone itself. He did ask why. I told him the truth, that I was eligible for upgrade and the iPhones bring the most on trade and I bought a Nex5 off contract.

Difference between Google play Nexus 5 and t mobile nexus 5

I'm going to be purchasing a Nexus 5 soon, and I will be using it on t mobile. But I was wondering if there was any difference between the one Google sells on their website or the one on t mobiles. Because on t mobiles it costs about $100 dollars more. So if you've purchased one, or know about this please comment. Thank you.

there are only two models of the nexus 5 hardwarewise. d820 for north america and d821 for the rest of the world. there are no carrier specific models as far as i know.

So then I shouldn't worry about getting slower/or different signal if I get one or the other?

So the play store n5 is same as Sprint, t-mob versions? Not hardware wise but software overlay and updates.

you should get the correct one for your country
but i think you can only purchase the right one, so you shouldn't worry about it. the one from the play store and t-mobile store are the same imho.
Okay thanks a lot guys.

yeah it has cdma and gsm hardware and i don't see multiple firmware build numbers out there so there aren't carrier skins and apps.. they all have everything needed for sprint, att, or t-mobile as far as what the phone needs. but maybe only the sprint ones are registered on the sprint network with the imei or whatever. verizon is not supported.
more than this, the modem is the same for both models (d820 and d821)! this is really cool, so i can use the .15 modem in germany and have a better signal. originally this modem was for the d820 (north america). i think the only difference are hardwarebound frequences.
