Anyone using a Radio other than the one provided by Stock Inspire?
Which one?
Any benefit to doing so? Does audio quality suffer?

I tried the M2 radio but I kept changing back to 3g all of the time. when I flashed back to the ATT stock radio I got hsdpa all the time.
I'm using the m3. Seems like my battery is lasting alot longer even with heavy usage. I played Angry birds for about 45mins and only lost like 8%. Signal stunk at first but has gotten better since I flashed it. Audio quality was tinny until I ran the audio fix then it sounds about the same as it does after flashing a rom..
I use M2 but no problems so far. Audio is good! It does switch to 3g but ironically its just about the same in speed. More of an annoyance than anything. Usually happens when I'm in areas with poor reception or interference like my campus for some reason.

I bounce back and forth between stock and M2. I agree that M2 bounces back and forth between H and 3G a lot, but I have a lot of screenshots being connected to "3G" that are showing speeds of 2mb down/1.5mb up...so I agree that it's more of an annoyance than anything. Not to mention I'm only connecting to GSM now so I only get Edge, since most of the time when it connects to WCDMA it will eventually stop allowing me to make/receive calls. So only using GSM, I almost always have 4 bars with M2, audio sounds the same on all of the radios I've used.
I am using 26.06.03.24_M2 and will try to leave it alone for a full week to test it in various areas that I go to. Seems OK so far......
Just flashed m3 took a while to figure out how since I have a Mac.

Gunny what r ur findings using m3.. I've been using stock so far and its been good to me... but using cm7rc2 with mad murdock battery fix my battery life is still horrible so i was thinking bout switching due to the rumor that m3 provides extended use.... thanks
haven't been on it long enough to say for sure, about battery life, but it may be a little better.
I have been using M2 and find the battery life to be terrific - better than stock.

A T-Mobile phone (assuming that's what you have) won't get 3G on AT&T's network because the frequencies T-Mob use for 3G differ from AT&T. I don't think a radio will change that.
I pretty much knew you were going to say that (ugh)....that's why I'm curious as to a possible Desire or Inspire radio? I also failed to mention.....this is NOT a windows phone anymore!...NAND cleared, rooted, unlocked & curently using TyphooN_CM7_v2.60 andriod 2.3.3 - fantastic build BTW! Do you think I may need to create the MediaNet APN ? along side the ATT APN already in use?
Wont change the fact that your phone lacks the frequencies to use 3g. It lacks the proper hardware.

Thanks to the devs for all thier hard work on this. I have been running it for almost two days, and no issues so far.
Been running it for a few days and the only issue is I've been told the speaker phone fades in and out. Otherwise it's been awesome! Very snappy and great battery life so far.

I can confirm this. When playing short sounds (like the click sound), the sound fades in and out improperly causing the sound to be played "halfway". Very annoying.
Otherwise, solid release.

I too have had this issue when getting a notification. If the tone is one that is longer than about a half second then it seems to fade out towards the end; sounds more like it's getting cut off.

I didn't think CM could get faster, but this feels so much smoother to me than 7.1 RC1. Thanks for the hard work. Love it!
Just noticed on this release there is an empty tile next to my name in the messaging app. Can I remove it or put a picture of me? I do have a contact in my phone labeled Me with my pic linked. That has made me show up in other roms with messaging apps like that. But my tile is different then incoming text tiles as it is not clickable aand has virtually no border.
Very solid release though its weird how the little things annoy me lol.

I am having an issue with the GSM/H+ connection dropping completely, and having to switch in and out of Airplane mode to restore the connection. When this occurs the GSM indicator is gray with an x and there is no H+ or 3G indicator at all. It usually happens while the phone is idle with screen off...so that when you turn the screen on, it is offline.
Also, occasionally the H+ and GSM bars change from green to grey and seem to stop connecting. This happens while actively using the phone/internet connection.
Any suggestions as to what to try?

This may be a long shot, but it's worth trying. The radio in your sig (26.09.04.11) was never released specifically for the Inspire/AT&T. You may want to try flashing the latest official Inspire radio, version 26.10.04.03. Use the one that has the AT&T RCDATA file included. The Inspire radio thread is a little bit of a mess, so if you need it, here's a link to it from my dropbox. MD5 hash is 8F949D1985AC11CDF782BAAAEF02B580

Mine has the matching RCDATA file and the proper android-info.txt file in the archive, although I don't know if that really matters or not. The one in the radio thread has no RCDATA, and the android.txt file is from the April OTA update instead of the August OTA update.

That RIL was never released with a DHD/Inspire radio, so there is no matching radio. In this case, 2.2.0018G matches the ROM, not the radio - G RILs are tuned for AOSP ROMs. For the radio version you're using (26.09.04.11), the matching RIL is actually 2.2.0160HM, however there are issues when using HM RILs on CM7. So it's best to just stick with the default RIL when using CyanogenMod, because it matches the ROM and it's what all of the developers are testing with.
I just brought it up because the radio droolindog is using was never released on the Inspire/AT&T (it was released on the DHD which is an overseas phone) and since he's having weird disconnection issues and such, I think this would be something to be considered at least. 26.10.04.03 is a proven radio that was released specifically for the Gingerbread Inspire update on AT&T. Just my 2¢.
Someone already reported this in the CM7 Nighly thread, but this ROM has a potentially semi-serious bug. It has to do with charging. The phone charges to 90%, then skips directly to 100%. I've been getting significantly lower battery life. I thought I was seeing things, so I calibrated, and waited, then calibrated again, all over the span of a week.
This time I was watching, and it did it right in front of me: went from 90% to 100%. I don't know if the logic tells the battery that it's already fully charged and it makes it stop, but it seems it does. This means we're losing 10% of our potential battery life because of this.
So I flashed back to 7.1RC1. No more bug; charges to 100% properly.
I know cross posting is frowned upon, but I'll also post this in the CM7 Nightly thread to see if the bug is fixed in any subsequent nightly.
If anyone knows of a fix, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks!
Found a ROM I'm happy with. Energy 2.08 base 3.5 Sense rom.
I'm wondering what the best radio to use in the UK would be? I updated to the 10.58 radio ages ago and wouldn't risk going back to 10.56. Noticed today I'm only getting 3 bars of signal in a strong coverage area. T-Mobile. Use to get constant 5 bars easily so I'm wondering if its just a ROM and radio mismatch?

Hi,
The best radio is the one that works.
If you used to get a better signal with 10.56,then that is the best one for you.
You have to try a few radios before you find the right one,and test it on various ROMS.
You will eventually find the best combination of ROM/radio.
I'm getting confused with RILs too. Do they get applied when flashing a custom ROM? Because I've never updated those since using the gingerbread RUU months ago. I swear this stuff was more straightforward on the old Desire.

The RIL (Radio Interface Library) can be very important, it might just be that the RIL you are using has all the right instructions in it anyway for the radio you are using, I suggest you always flash the correct RIL for the Radio you are using.

Hi Guys,
I'm from Germany and when i make calls, i permanently hear some static in the background..
When i turn down the volume a bit, there is no static anymore - but some crackling -.-
I read alot about this problem, most people say it is a software bug..
So my question is: Do you think that flashing a custom rom may resolve this issue? For example the TrickDroid Custom rom? Has somebody having this problem experienced better noise cancelling with a custom rom?
I look forward for helpful answers..
P.S.: I am not talking about the wifi call bug.

Hi,
thank you for the immediate reply.
Yes, i have the newest software available (1.78).
TrickDroid includes the newest T Mobile Update, so I'm wondering if this ROM or update solves the problem. But I don't wanna have problems with warranty if the rom doesnt help...
Troxx recommended that non-TMOUS users stick with his international version of Trickdroid which is the 1.78 base.
I have not been following the threads about the crackling issue, however if it didn't get any better with the 1.78 update... I would strongly consider exchanging the phone for another one. My guess is it is related to either to device itself, your current location, or the software/radio. Since you already have the latest software/radio... you'll be waiting for the next HTC update.
I posted this in one or two other threads. Flashing LeedRoid has given me perfect audio call quality. I had the static before that--
I was on the 08 us radio at the time, so radio had no effect--
I'm glad I'm not the only one with the damn audio issue. I've been using trickdroid tmo us version 3.0 and now 4.0. Both give me static/distortion when audio volume is above 50%. It's really annoying and I wish there was a fix for this. Otherwise the phone's nearly perfect.

There is a fix, flash LeeDroid as I mentioned and see if it helps as it did for me
I mean a fix that can be flashed to any Rom. If nothing else guess will have to try leedroid.

let me know if it helps or if i just got lucky--
same problem here only that I got htc one s with s3 chip and therefore can't flash leedroid. are there more experiences with updating rom/radio?
Hey,
I had this problem now for very long time (actually more than 1year) and I tried all the solutions that were proposed in other threads specially this one that reduced the number of reboot but not totally
What I remarked is that when the phone is on the edge of the cell on 3G and trying to move to 2G it will automatically reset especially when the battery is below 50%.
I tried locking the phone on 3G and the number of reset has reduced but the downside of this is that I don't have most of the time connectivity (all the way in the metro for example).
Does anybody know if there is custom ROM or Kernel or Radio (I don't which part do control this) that deal with this issue?
I was running ARHD 6.7(and previous versions) with recommended radio till this morning and now I'm on CM9.
I changed the battery to Anker 1700 so the issue is not coming from the battery.
My phone was bought from French Operator Bytel (SN : SH169V..... if it helps)
Sorry for this long Message
Have you tried get Ril? It's an application in the play store that's a great app. It will let you know if your ril is matching your radio, and if it is not matching it recommends and downloads a matching ril. This really helped me a lot. I was getting a pretty weak signal and found out my ril was not matching my radio. Once I downloaded the matching ril, my signal went from one bar to four and five bars! I was pretty amazed on what a difference it made for me. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try and see if it helps you. If not you can also change your radio and ril yourself and see if you can come up with a better signal. Thing with radio is we all live in different areas so it must be experimented with by you because what works for me might not work in your area. You would start by looking in the generic ics radios and matching rils. Remember your radio now so you can return to it if need be. But before I'd change my whole radio do try Get ril. Hopefully it will make a positive difference for you! Also I believe you must be s off to change radio. Don't know if your s on, or off? But give get ril a try and see how that goes. Best wishes. Hope this was helpful.

I tried the App GetRIL and it says RIL/baseband is matching (RIL 4.0.0013HMQ, 11.69.3504.00P_11.22.3504...)
Thanks anyway :good:.
I'm just wondering if it's not a HW or firmware defect on the serie of my phone (no limitation on the power usage during IRAT HO).
BTW I didnt get a reboot with CM9 till now but I'm in well covered area, I will see if it crashes again when i'm on the edge of the cell.
Had exactly the same thing last week, purchased a new battery and now the problem has gone away
Looking at the old battery you could see it was swollen
I picked up a battery new for £5 off ebay
I have already changed the battery and the issue is still happening. Anyway with the new ROM it looks stable so far.
I will test it for some days and see if it will happen again
CM Definitely solved the issue

I think I'll try Paranoid Android too then. And that way I'll try JB too.
It's radio Issue
Finally I found what the problem is coming from
Changing the radio to the latest European version two month ago made the phone much more stable with using various versions of CM10.
The version I'm using now is : 11.76A.3504.00_11.24A.3504.31_M with the RIL provided by default in the rom(it shouldn't be impacting)
Hope this will also solve your problem.
