ADW launcher ex - HTC Sensation

Is it worth it installing adw launcher ex on a stock unrooted sensation?
Am I gonna lose the sense feature if I install this?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium

Well, it's a launcher replacement, so you won't be able to use it & sense at the same time but sense won't get deleted or anything.

You won't be able to use sense with adw, so yes as long as you are using adw you will lose the features of sense.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App

You only lose the launcher features of sense. You still have access to the apps/dialer/contacts/etc

you won't be able to use htc widgets, but the launcher has widget replacements that are useful

You can do it if you want, less space though. And if u wanna use ADWLauncher but with some of HTC apps, I recommend u flash android revolution hd rom with the no sense script. It removes htc sense but keeps the dialer etc.

ADWLauncher over sence

So if I instal something like ADWLauncher will it take over for sence? If so will sense still be running in the background taking up a lot of resources ?

Once you install an alternative launcher, when you press the home button it'll ask you which you want to use as the default for that action, the same way it works for web browsers.
I'm running ADW myself and see one HTC Sense service running, using 2.7MB of memory.
If you switch back to the sense launcher, you'll notice that it takes a bit to launch it.
Thank you very much. I have cyanogen on my G2. I am so familiar with ADWLauncher, and if it will use less resources and speed thing up perhaps that would be sweet, well until I can cyanogen on the sensation.

I just switched back to the sense launcher (easy to do) to check, and wow ADW EX is so much smoother than the sense launcher.

Another ADW (paid) user here, and loving it. Coming from CM7 on HD2 It's silky smooth

[Q] Is there a way to remove sence ui 3 on the htc sensation?

i personally want to use the original google android ui. so it use less ram and faster.
No, you're stuck with Sense 3.0 until custom ROMs are possible.
download "launcher pro" homescreen replacement till custom roms come out

Is there a way to get like a "sense" widget for the time and weather??
I like the weather and clouds going across the screen, but need the Launcher Pro for the buttons at the bottom..

This is funny... I thought I was the only one who didn't like it. I really thought I was going to, but I find it just gets in the way.
I switched to LauncherPro (which I'm really happy with) and I stopped all the HTC related syncing stuff in the accounts setup. I'm not sure how much was saved, but it didn't seem to help much RAM and battery wise.
FWIW my wife hasn't had any complaints about it, and we both came from stock Android phones.
I can't wait to root this thing...
Did Launcher Pro not lag for you guys? I checked out the demo in the store and Launcher Pro chugged like none other. Who knows what they did to that demo before I picked it up though.
I really like LP. I saw a youtube video of the Sens. running it....looked great to me.
I'm running lpp on my sensation. It's a lot smoother than sense. No lag whatsoever.

I am also running Launcher Pro and it runs great. No lag. On a side note, is it worth the $3.50 to get the 'Plus' version of Launcher Pro?
I installed Zeam to see if it would be slow. It ran fine. I actually noticed that some aspects of Sense shutdown when you use another launcher.
Try ADW Ex just for the mere fact that is supports hardware acceleration unlike LPP and the other homescreen replacements.

yea and stock with stupid widgets cause cant use sense widgets(again) when using lpp or adw or any other launcher

What launcher do you like?

Well we all know sense is fat and slow. It looks great. But we want speed. Or at least i do. I use adw at the moment. I think its pretty good. Have any of you tried launcher pro or something else that you think is far better than any other. Lets take a poll. Im interested. Thanks

I'm a fan of Gingerbread Launcher by MoRaVia. Simple and snappy. Also, it is free.

ADW EX. I'll never use anything else. The hidden dockbar is just too good. Fast and clean and nothing else comes close for customization.
Also used Launcher Pro, but ADW wins.
I have always used adw on my other phones with CM7, but it didn't seem to run very well on the sensation. I just tried Launcher Pro starting about 2 days ago and that is where I am staying until something changes.
I haven't GoLauncher EX is the only one that wasn't slow on my phone...ADW was great on my G2 though.

I thought the same until I found wave launcher. I still swap from launcher 7 and adw ex, but I no longer use the hidden dock.

I've had both Launcher Pro and ADW Ex. I liked ADW Ex better than Launcher Pro. Both were definitely faster and snappier than the Sense. But I put Sense back on cause of the looks.
Had ADW EX for a little while but then switched to Go Launcher EX. I actually find it more customizable. Both were fast for me. I don't think I'll switch for a while.
Sense is fine for me. I think it's just as quick as the other launchers stock for stock

Same as close as your gonna get to stock android.
cant get away from sense : /
i love customization of adw ex but i always end up missing my sense widgets.. now if someone can develop some sense widget replacements ill be set
I use Go Launcher. I tried Adw and launcher Pro ex but I just think that the customization in Go Launcher is better than anything else, at the moment anyways. I also like the transitions and the" wrap around" home screens. I keep the other two installed just to check for updates.
I wouldn't mind a faster launcher, but I really like the ring lockscreen scheme on Sense.
Sense 3.0 launcher
I bought the phone because of his software and speed and the only thing i miss is root to tweak the rest little bits
Twlauncher seems nice too. I'm using it today.

Do any launchers support the qHD wallpaper like Sense does? I've tried Go Launcher and ADW and can't get them to not crop my wallpaper photo too much. The form factor isn't right.
Also Go Launcher dock icons are too small on this screen, and don't seem adjustable.
Tried using ADW and Launcher Pro PLus for some time....
I realized, Sense 3.0 is the best
Adw has some hd icons and walls. Also on adw you can change the size of icons. Just saying. Might help.

I use launcher pro and you still keep the sense lockscreen. One downfall of sense is that it only takes gives you a 4x4 layout. I have 5x10 layout using launcher pro means you can fit more on your homescreens. Plus you can resize widgets.

question? sense launcher 3.0 on miui?

Is there a way to install the Sense Launcher 3.0 on Miui? I have tried all kinds of different modded launchers and I dont want a modded launcher pro or ADW I would like to have the real Rosie.apk Its probably in the framework so thats why all of the launchers I have used wont work. I was hoping someone would have a modded Rosie that doesnt require to be tied into the framework. preferably the new 3.0.
No. Sense isn't just a launcher. If you want the Rosie.apk on miui, you will need to have sense framework thus equalling a sense rom

so could i take the framework from a sense roms and install it on miui and get sensed-miui?
No you can't

I like the 3d sense 3.0 and i would love to have the animated flip sense clock on miui.

Try HeLauncher2 in the market. Looks like Sense.
I just use Fancy Widgets from the market for a Sense looking clock/weather combo. It is free.

No The Original Fancy Widget comes closer the sense clock than that one. The only thing is it isnt animated. Which I currently already have. If anyone needs it.

what launcher are you using?

I'm using launcher pro but would like to know anything better it seems too old but it runs a hello of a lot smoother then sense though. No reloading sense everytime I hit the home screen
Adw ex is nice with alot of customizations. Yes launcherpro is fast.
QQLauncher
my s-off sensation, thanks to Revolutinary !!!
what does it mean to get the s off
Put simply S-off is a step in rooting your phone.
Anyways, I use the Stock Gingerbread launcher for qhd phones. It's not that customizable, but it's simple, clean, fast, and doesn't take up much space.
Launcher pro here. I've tried a lot, but I keep coming back to Launcher Pro.
I use adw launcher ex. It has lots of customization. The screen transitions are ultra smooth. I've used it since I started using android.
