Has anyone even thought about trying to port cm7 to the transformer? Any devs that are feeling frisky lets give it a try.
There's no source for HC. Anything ported would be GB.
CM7 is Gingerbread but why would you want to downgrade from a Tablet UI to a phone UI?
You want to go back to CM 5 or 6 on your phone too?

Would any of the rom dev's be interested in compiling CM7 for the tf101? Weird, I know, but i think it would be interesting to try at the very least. Thanks.
I love CM7 on my phone and all...
But you want to go back to Gingerbread from Honeycomb?

yeah i agree. why would you want CM7 when its gingerbread and you have honeycomb?
No thanks! I don't see the point of downgrading
Maybe you meant [req]TF101 CM8
Hi guys most of you might find this question silly but there are some of us newcomers who are still getting into this!
So, I rooted my phone, have ROM Manager and CWM Recovery, version 3 and my question is how we're going to update to official GB when it becomes available? Will we do it through official T-Mobile update, or will some of you guys make it available for us?
Thank you all!
Yes...
you should be about to get it either way. If you get the official update you will probably lose root... If you wait a few there will be a rooted version posted by one of the many xda members...

One more dumb question: Why is everybody so excited about the official GB update, when we have right now a few GB leaked versions with some custom ROMs (Bionix from TeamWhiskey, etc... ) available, for which as I hear, many say are excellent? Is this official one gonna be better in any significant way than these custom already out? Thanks! )

It will come with an official GB kernel and hopefully updated battery drivers and A2DP functionality...Amongst other LG fixes (again, hopefully).

OK, I get it... So, all these unofficial GBs are sort of limited because they lack these LG stuff they're (hopefully) putting into the official one. That's why it's smart to wait a bit more.
Hopefully it will fix most or all the problems.

Yes, that's the case. The leak has issues (which makes sense, it's not a finished build), and almost all Gingerbread mods are based on the leak so they have the same issues. I know CM7 is using the Gingerbread source instead and has fixed a lot of the issues, but not all of them.
The official update is not only going to be completely stable (hopefully) but will come bundled with better drivers/kernel support which will fix most of the common issues with the phone (hopefully).
I've gone through an Over The Air update to Android before, and if it's like what I experienced, you're going to get a pop-up that asks if you want to update now or later. Choose later if you want to keep root, someone here will have the official build rooted probably within the hour but definitely within the first couple of days.
In the mean time though, don't be scared of trying out one of the ROMs that are available. I swear by CM7, but I've heard wonderful things about EagleBlood and Ultimate too.

I have heard that official updating the rooted phone could actually brick it? And when a mod is nightly version, does it mean it it not completely stable? I am interested in CM7, but I could not find a stable version on their site.
Thanks!
i have question also since it's related to thread title. i'm running stock right now but rooted. once i update to gingerbread cm7, will i have to install all apps and settings all over? and will call log and stuff like that disappear also?

You should be able to get all of that stuff after startup my hitting the square boxes in the initial setup. Worked for me yesterday with the Eagleblood 2.3.4 ROM, when someone recommended it to me rather than Titaniumbackup which screwed up my phone a lot because I went from Froyo to GB

When I did an OTA update, it kept all of my apps and settings. I can't remember if it preserved call log.

I don't know if it will brick or not, my OTA was not rooted. And CM7 nightlies are NOT completely stable, but they're on build 58 by now and the ROM works perfectly fine. The only issue I can see with the phone is the top bar they added to the notifications menu that has toggle-able settings like WIFI, GPS, etc sometimes doesn't show up and in the camera, it calls both cameras "back" instead of one being "front".
But if you're concerned with stability that much, use the leak or EagleBlood.
hi guys im new to the galaxy s 4g, i just got it today and im looking for a complete stock version of android. froyo or gingerbread. i would rather have gingerbread but i cant find one lol. also how come i dont see a cm7 one? well if u guys can send me a link i would appreciate that. i looked in the development section and i didnt see a stock android one. also are they buggy or have any issues? i like this phone to be fast cause stock is laggy plus i dont like touchwiz. thanks
There is no cm7 rom as of yet. If your looking for a completely stock rom your phone came with one but if you want a super smooth fast rom look for the icbinb rom by team acid.

well i just want the stock build of gingerbread like the nexus s has. i dont want touchwiz at all.. its too laggy for me. i was hoping there was a stock build of gingerbread thats why i got this phone. but i guess i can wait for cm7 to get a rom going. thanks though
I am trying to do the same thing on my phone. My sister-in-law works for google and got one of the Nexus S phones that google gave away as a christmas present to all the employees and I wanted to get a copy of their ROM on my phone. Unfortunately, she has Verizon and gave her phone away to another co-worker who needed another one before I was able to snag it up from her I don't want to use some program that just flashes the new OS on top of the old one... That lags the phone and doesn't really do the trick (Like running windows modulator in Mac OsX.) I want to wipe the phone and load Android 3.2 onto my phone... anyone help please?!
If you don't like Touchwiz, you can install another launcher from the market, like Go Launcher or Launcher Pro. Touchwiz is mostly just a launcher, it doesn't really slow down the phone.
If your phone is laggy, I'd try rooting it, and then uninstalling some of the bloat that comes on the stock rom.
just flash icbinb for froyo. delete tw after you get another launcher. i would say for a lightweight one, try zeam launcher
HTC said they will be upgrading as many phone as possible to ICS, how would they upgrade us to ICS if we don't even have Gingerbread yet?
My guess would be upgrade to gingerbread, then ice cream sandwich. But seriously, "as many as possible, while slowly pushing the thunderbolt under the rug." With as many problems as they've had, i'm not holding my breath for an official release. I'm sure the devs will give us a better version though.
I thought we had Gingerbread already .. even though VZW still has a few bugs to work out?

lol.. with the thunderbolt, who ever follows what's going on officially with all the roms/kernals/radios you can get for it. i won't even bother getting an "official" ICS for my thunderbolt. just waiting on the ics roms!

The update was pulled. Root and flash a custom. There, most up to date you can be.
I know the Liquid team is working on a port even this early(source for ics is unreleased). Aside from that team bamf will probably give it a shot too.

True that, a port is a best chance to see ICS anytime soon for the tbolt. I am sure our devs will make it happen...
Have you looked into Synergy ROM? The thread states it is at 3.0 but it has taken a leap to 3.5 in the last few days. It's sweet and smooth.
UPDATE: The tread now shows Sense 3.5.

Anyone know a ROM team that has something reasonable working yet?
I don't think the CM guys are doing it...who will actively support the Thunderbolt on ICS? Anyone know?
