Hello, I just messed my phone up and I want to go back to stock 2.3.2 or earlier.
I have just the stock recovery, it was rooted with clockworkmod but I tried installing stock 2.3.2 and it it removed everything and is not bootign up. I'm stock on the triangle sign with the android figure/sign/robot on.
Please help me get back to stock, I dont need root or anything, just original just like I got the phone brand new in box.
It would be so helpful!
Just a quick bump because I need to use the phone urgently within few hours, please if any1 has a solution please post. I'll even offer u something.
thanks and sorry for being inpatient
just download and restore the nandroid stock backups on the DEV section
another alternative is to use Odin, but some people are not fond of it

The android with an "!" is the stock recovery. You get into it by pushing/holding power first, then volume up...just the opposite of how you got into fastboot mode.
Does that work for you?

Yes, but nandroid backups dont work with stock recovery?
If you were running < 2.3.3 bootloader, ie 2.3~2.3.2
Download clockworkmod recovery image, boot into fastboot mode, boot the image, do a nandroid restore.
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img

No they don't, but you said you were stuck at that screen like it was a broken phone.
From stock recovery you can wipe the phone with a factory reset, wipe the cache also and see if you can boot.
Is your bootloader UNlocked? Are you on 2.3.3. or 2.3.2.
If on 2.3.2 bootloader, or on 2.3.3 with unlocked bootloader, just flash or boot clocwork via fastboot as suggested by the post above this one.
You can always do the fastboot oem unlock command on the phone, this will wipe the whol
SO i think I totally bricked my phone. Any input would be great. MMy phone boots up and is stuck on lg screen. I tried flash CWM and stock recovery but nothing. Any ideas or should i just send back and get a new one
I really mucked this one up
It's not a brick if it turns on! But I'm fairly new to this phone and I'm not familiar with it at all Normally I would suggest to fastboot flash the new OFFICIAL CWM recovery image, but I don't even know where to begin with fastboot on this phone

It would probably be a little helpful (if you want help) if you let everyone know what you were doing when you "bricked" your phone. That way people know where to start in assisting you.

I had a infinite loop problem on mine. I just restored to stock.
Turn phone off (pull battery if needed)
Turn on while holding volume down + power button

What happens when you try to boot into recovery mode?
OK here is what I did to brick my device.
I wanted to do a factory reset and I used clockwork recovery to do so.
Wat I didn't know what that Clockwork recovery was going to format my system.
I can only get into fast boot via vol up+vol+down+power
Cannot get back to stock recovery or CWM. Tried flashing via fastboot method
My phone just goes to LG screen no loading bar
Currently the only function is fastboot
Did you try formatting via Vol-Down + Power?

1) Fastboot flash the official CWM recovery image
2) download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274
3) put the NANDROID in the correct folder on your sdcard: /sdcard/_ExternalSD/clockworkmod/backup/
4) restore via recovery
Thanks for everyones input, Called t-mobile they are shipping a new one out asap. I'm just going to have to suck it up till tuesday.
I love trial and error they only thing i lost is a little time

I flashed official CWM recovery image numerous times via fastboot and phone just gets stuck at lg screen. Once again vol up+power and vol down+pwer does nothing
Is there another fastboot method or adb method to restore CWM?
did the same thing it bricked my phone does nothing else than start up then freezes. f-ING pissed
The best thing with Nvidia phones and tablets is that its barely impossible to brick your phone. If you think you bricked it - you just need NV flash and either the stock rom or stock recovery and you are back to normal
I have done that with my old G-tablet - it was a piece of cake to fix it.
is there an nv flash for mac?
thought i did the same thing!
if you can get it into format hit the home button. hopefully vol+down+power will get you there. pull your battery and you may just get lucky if done enough times? i would keep trying. good luck
Hello, everyone. I'm brand spankin' new here and have what could be either a complete brain scrambler or a newb screwup. I searched everywhere and could not find a person in a similar situation, so please don't tell me to utfse, unless you have a special magic search engine from the future where the HTC Doubleshot has already been fully hacked and pimped out.
Anyway...
I successfully performed the permanent root and s-off procedure with Revolutionary.
Now, when I went to flash the clockworkmod custom recovery image for it, I got a successful installation message, but when I booted with volume down+power select recovery, it goes to the mt4gs splash screen and stays there. I have to pull the battery out and boot normally, because I can't flash a new image through recovery. I tried flashing from the clockwork mod rom manager under several similar devices, update.zip method and flashing it from fastboot in ADB and flashing it from the Terminal app, but to no avail. Is there another way to flash either a new recovery image or revert back to the stock recovery?
Re-flash recovery until it works from hboot. No chance of brick if you aren't flashing the hboot.
Also, give it a few minutes at the mytouch splash.
I tried it again. Waited 30 min, no luck. Is there another way to flash the image? When I tried it through adb it said the image couldn't be found or didn't exist, even though I had it in both the root folder and the sd card. When I tried it in terminal, it didn't recognize my command to flash_img.
Get cwm fro here http://android.modaco.com/topic/343...e-mytouch-4g-slide-unofficial-modaco-edition/
then use fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery doubleshot.clockworkmod.4.0.0.9.modaco.img
When I enter the command in adb it gets stuck on "waiting for device". I installed the htc device driver already and when I hit adb devices it comes up.
in adb ????
You should be in bootloader to run fastboot commands
How do I enter the command in the bootloader? When I select fastboot it gives me the option to reboot, go back to bootloader or reload bootloader. I can't get into the recovery menu, it freezes at the splash scree. Is there any way to flash clockwork onto it without having to go through the currently installed recovery?
Oops, nvm. Got it now. Thank you so much, all of you!
Ok, I have another question. Now, this one IS a stupid newb question. When I first rooted it, I got a little uninstall-trigger-happy, and deleted the htcsense3.0 launcher from my device. I know, I know, I'm retarded. But the good thing is I backed it up in Titanium backup before deleting it (also deleted it from TB). When I realized what a fool I was (after my home screen wouldn't come up0 I worked around it by holding the camera button and accessing the quick settings menu from the notification bar. I then Hold the Genius button and open the market, go to my apps, and open Titanium backup from there. I never thought I would say this, but thank god for the Genius button??
So, I've tried installing the .apk file from the sdcard in several different file manager apps, but with no luck. Is there a way I can force it back into it's original directory instead of reinstalling it?
I just installed launcher pro, but I'd like to eventually get back to the HTC sense launcher, however bulky and annoying it may be.
Thank you all for your help, you've been very helpful and not in the least bit condescending. I look forward to contributing to this forum.

here's a link to download the stock ROM. It will reinstall everything for you including HTC Sense and whatever, and the good part is you don't have to erase data before installing, just download and install via recovery and you'll have everything back! Assuming, of course, that you can access titanium backup and unfreeze what you need.
That rom worked perfectly. Thank you.
Was running Clean Rom 4.1 & decided to try a new rom. Flashed Xi40, after install & upon reboot, phone got stuck in boot screen (was black). Went into recovery & tried to restore from a nanadroid back up & now im getting a MD5 Mismatch. Tried several times & the same thing.
When I try to just reboot the phone normally it gets stuck on the white htc splash screen & thats as far as it goes. Then tried to just RUU & am getting a USB connection error. Checked my pc for connnected devices & my phone isnt showing up. Yes I have all the drivers, never had an issue connecting my phone to pc before now. I can get into recovery but thats about it. Cant nandroid or ruu. Im running out of ideas & phone is usless right now, this sucks any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Boot into the bootloader, enter fastboot mode, and then run the RUU.
can you still access recovery? I wouldnt think there's a need to ruu if you still can get into it. wipe cache, dalvik, and do factory reset and try flashing a different rom perhaps. If you want to ruu then you'll need the drivers installed and be in fastboot on the bootloader. You may need to relock the bootloader as well in fastboot, but by doing that then your only option will be to ruu.

Hello,
I am getting myself deeper into trouble working on this.
First I will explain what I did, I wanted marshmallow and read TWRP needs to be updated to load it and also that that I cannot restore from older backup, so I figured I update TWRP first then do a backup.
I did the TWRP update via app, verified the partition and when done and rebooted to recovery, TWRP was still v2.7 and the phone won't boot, the OS was gone.
so then I figured I flash Dottat M8firmwareandRecovery to get the new TWRP and backed up the Data partition.
then found out that I can't use that Data partition with a different OS. So I figured I flash KitKat back on.
did that, now I can not get back into recovery, holding the Vol down with power will not go to HBOOT.
now KitKat loads, had root, but the dang thing auto updated to 4.4.3 and now lost root. I thought it can't auto update with s-off
so it as asking for another update now and I turned it off. Waiting for someone to help , I keep making it worse.
my phone was unlocked and s-off, I hope it still is, can anything undo that?
Please help

I've personally never seen a device go back to S-ON without the user doing it with the cmd.
That isn't to say it's never happened before.
I'd assume you are still S-OFF.
What happens when you flash a ROM that has a power menu and you select to reboot to recovery or bootloader?
Or you can root and download an app that works the same way. curious what it does.
Also how long are you holding the buttons?
If everything else is working you should be able to get to hboot/recovery - but I honestly don't know.
My suggestion?
Get a more recent RUU .exe and run it on your PC and see what happens.

My Galaxy Tab2 did that. I tried the M8 again today with USB unplugged, did not get boot loader menu, but then while it was on, I did a Vol up and power (forced shutdown) then while still holding the power button switched to Vol down right when the screen blanked, then I got the boot loader! :victory:

and to correct myself.. one other condition. The older version of software included a "fastboot" option in settings->power that was more like a hibernate feature. That feature when enabled would prevent you from getting into bootloader.

That makes sense, 'fastboot' was on, its now off.
The bootloader works, KitKat OS is working, but not recovery. I get 'Entering Recovery . . .' on white htc screen and stuck there.
I used adb command prompt to flash recovery with fastboot then I tried HTC_fastboot and different versions of TWRP.
tried flashing with Flashify , no errors, it just doesn't load. I think something else is broke.
dottat, do you have an image of RUU rooted Kitkat with TWRP?
Thank you for the help.

So dumped the idea of getting KitKat back and I flashed the Marshmallow custom s-off RUU with TWRP that you provided. so far good now I just need to re-root it.
