USB Read Through Cable - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Dear friends
I don't have technical knowledge but I would like to start this thread for developer because I didn't found any discussion about it. If it will possible then it will be a major break-through for Android OS.
Points
Is that possible to read USB (Pen Drive) through cable on android running mobile?
Anybody tried to do it?
Same question for may different card also.
If dev team will got success on this then they can also try to read a hard disk with the support of external power for hard disk.
Our current Android is already reading a Micro SD card.
I think it will be possible because now we have dual core processor too on mobile as well.
It is my humble request to all dev to think about it.
I used I-mate phone for 2 years and started to used it in 2006. Since then I have this question in my mind for more than 5 years. Now it is hard for me to keep in mind.
Please, forgive me if I started a wrong thread at wrong place.

If I read your needs corerctly, there's quite a few threads on this, here's what google finds on xda

This is called usb host, google it and you'll find some links or use xda search

Thanks a lot dear
But, all the things about USB host is not at one place. It is too hard for noobs, like me, too understand and sort out things together.
Further help appreciated.
I have HTC Sensation and Windows mobile 6.1 (I-mate).
Thanks again

This feature is called OTG, and is a part of Honeycomb. It's on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. BTW, it does not work all that well as support for many device classes is not provided.

[Q] Computer programing noob

I want to install 2 harddrives to my old HP Tower. I would like each of the hard drives to be assigned to separte users, i.e. Myself and my kids. Also, I would run Windows on one harddrive and Linux-based program off the other. My question is, is this possible, and what connectors do I need to plug in 2 separte harddrives to the motherboard?
Yes it is possible. Two SATA ports(maybe other type) on motherboard.

[Q] GT-P3113 microsd card question

Officially the Galtab 2 7.0 wifi only supports a max of a 32GB microsd card, but my question is this. Has anyone tried a 64GB one? If so what brand(s) and class? I know many laptops state they only support 8gb ram, but then you find out that quite a few were only supporting that at the time of release as the biggest mainstream production memory was 4GB SoDimm's and 8GB modules were extremely expensive, but they support more unofficially. I think I even saw that my HTC Incredible will run a 64GB card but the specs state only a 32GB. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help and time.

Yay search function! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1643254
good day.
I was searching this and the development forums and for some reason didn't see them there, I was going to delete this thread and ask in the multi question thread further down, but I can't seem to find the delete button, only after searching the xda general threads did I see it states that only mods can delete threads.
I do appreciate your Exuberant appreciation of the search function though, apparently we ltrnftp's do not know how to properly form a search and are overwhelmed by the massive amount of results sometimes. hehe
BUT honestly, I do appreciate the link to the correct thread. I need to go over there and point out that the USB adapter hubs sold on ebay like the one I bought http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Adapter...axy-Tab-2-10-1-8-9-7-7-7-0-Plus-/271127664707 do not work even when powered except to show as a USB device is attached but no storage devices or cards etc.

OTG & boot from external micro usb

Dear XDA,
I am a new user, so if this post is in the wrong place, sorry.
I am planning to make a custom case for my ville. My plan is to mod a very small usb hub into it. So i can plug in usb cables and stuff. Also i wanna buy a very fast mirco sd card. The hub wil be inserted in the mirco usb port. I wanted to ask if it is possible to boot from such an external micro sd card, outside the one s. If it is possible do i need to root it? Has anyone tried something failiar before? And am i able to charge my phone through the usb hub?
Tanks in advance,
pro-one1000.
I'd say that this is more suited to development or accessories, but I'm sure a moderator won't mind.
Android is based on Linux, so there is no reason why it can''t be possible. It would probably be quite difficult, but definitely do-able.

I do no work with programming (I'm taking a crash course in computing in the summer to get a bit of help) so I am probably one of the last people that you should ask to be honest mate. If you repost this (not that a senior member would ever recommend that...) on General or Android Development then you may get a bit more attention from people who know what you are doing.

[Completed] LG L70 Dual SD to Internal

Hi. I'm new on XDA and what has brought me to this forum is a crap about my device storage, since I know REALLY nothing about smart devices .
As the title shows, my smartphone is a LG L70 Dual, with only 1,5 GB of free to use storage. It's an old and weak phone, however, I do not plan to buy another anytime soon.
I bought a new SD card and rooted it only trying to solve the problem, like creating links to the ExternalStorage, and other ways that included some apps. But I found no success, primarily because of my lack of knowledge. What I intended was to expand, link, or invert the storages, using the SD to install apps.
What I'm asking is some help to try to get what I want, but in some way I still understand what to do and have accuracy assurance and confidence that the method is safe if properly applied. Safe for the mobile and the SD. But I have no fear that the method is difficult, as long it be realizable and and whoever help me have patience for my ignorance.
Woah! I wrote too much ... I hope that someone help me, I really need this. Thanks

[Completed] Help with Dell Axim x51 running wm 6.x and sd cards

Hi guys
First time time poster here. I don't know if there is a thread or something new people are supposed use first, I have looked but I couldn't find anything so my apologies if I've made a mistake.
Now onto the reason for this post.
I recently acquired a cheap Dell axim x51 (low spec model) with the idea to use it as pocket sized ebook reader to carry reference guides out and about.
While I was researching the devices before I bought it I came across forum threads about upgrading the OS to Windows Mobile 6.x and being able to use large capacity sd cards.
After reading through a few threads on here and downloading a copy from the source listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/windows-mobile/dell-axim-x51-windows-mobile-6-0-6-5-t3378463 I gave it a try and got the device to run on the copy of windows mobile 6.5 in the download link.
However while the PDA seems to be working fine it still cannot detect a 16GB SD card I've tried with it. I was wondering if there might be a component missing from the download or if I'm trying to use the wrong type of memory card.
If someone could point out a existing thread I'd be very grateful.

Good Luck

Hi Sawdoctor
Thanks for your help, I had seen that thread before I posted here but when I took a second look I found another thread that covered what I was looking for.
Again, many thanks.
