[Q] How do you flash a new modem file? - Samsung Infuse 4G

OK, I see lots of threads on the new modem available. I've downloaded it and now I have no idea what to do next. Searches don't turn up any instructions since the word 'flash' is used a billion times in this forum.
Anybody got some instructions?

Download the community kernel from the development section and the modem of your choice, put them on your internal SD card. Download sgs kernel flasher from the market. Using sgs kernel flasher flash the community kernel which includes the red clockwork mod recovery. Once that is done, reboot into recovery and flash the modem of your choice. This is how I did it and I'm on infused 1.6.0.

This is not correct. That is a kernel flasher, not a modem flasher. To flash a modem, go into clockworkmod if you have a version that is compatible with it, then install from sdcard then select from sd card then go find the file. You may want to know where it is in the first place beforehand, usually in the download folder. Then from there just flash it. The words I said may not be exact, but they are something like it. Good luck!

Where can we get a flashable zip at? For the newest modem?
E3D

I presume that means I have to be rooted to do it? That's a disappointment. I'm staying unrooted until the official Gingerbread release. I'm frustrated because I'm still on the original modem version and checking for updates tells me I'm on the latest, which is of course a blatant lie.

First of all, go look for the thread in the devsection on modems. It will be there and thats where you get it to flash. Yea you do have to be rooted, but you may just want to. If you have ot gotten any updates, then you may never. I never did, so i rooted and installed a custom gingerbread rom. Anway if you even do this, you will be able to flash the new gingerbread rom.

pay no attention to this, you don't have to be rooted.
in the [MODEMS] development thread, notice how there are CWM flashable zips, as well as odin files for each modem.
odin is your friend in this situation.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, bout to go insane

Ok, so i have had a samsung captivate since last summer. I just did the official froyo update the other day and it was successful with kies mini. I then decided to root it using super1click which also worked successfully. I have superuser, titanium backup with busybox installed, and super manager and terminal emulator. I also successfully got clockworkmod flashed and working.
My problem is that ive got the new cognition rom on my internal sd card, but when i try to flash it with cwm, i get the 3e recovery failure message. Ive been reading various sites today on how to fix this problem, but every site seems to tell me something different. I ask this question here, because it seems to be the most knowledgeable site to go to.
How do i get my rooted captivate, with all the above installed and running, to allow me to flash a new rom and possible a new kernal down the road? Im about to go insane trying to decipher through all the info all the different sites have said. Sorry to write such a novel on a tired subject, but im going crazy. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

If you would have done a search here then you would have found that you need to do one of 2 things.
1. Flash back to 2.1
2. Replace the 3e recovery with one that doesnt check for the sig.
I dont know how to replace the 3e recovery. I think ill go with flashing back to 2.1. Once i dl Odin and flash back to 2.1, then i can flash a new rom or a new kernel? Will it undo everything i've done so far? Thanks for the help.

Here is a link to the replacement recovery.
Make sure you have the right odin and that your 3 button works right.
Yesh doing this will wipe out everything. Make sure to back up. Do not back up system data at all as when you restore it, it can lead to major issues. Once done with a custom rom it will be wiped clean. You will have to redo contacts, email, and all other settings
Thanks. Would it be okay to just flash a new kernel like speedmod kernal and just use the stock rom? Is that possible to do while im on rooted 2.2? I like the rom just fine, i just want it faster mainly. Thanks again.

To be honest I am not sure. I only had the stock on for a few hours as it was just not that great compared to the 2.2.1 rom that I have been used to running. I need BT voice dial and the added exchange options so 2.2 was not really for me. If you want a stock feel but faster then I would go with COG or one of the other roms based on the kb1 rom.
So I've come to the conclusion that I should just flash back to 2.1 and go from there. I have odin downloaded, but I'm not certain how to use it. Do you guys think I should flash a custom rom from stock, or just flash a kernel with lag fix and delete the bloatware? Thanks.
first flash 2.1 stock to get rid of the damn 3e. custom roms dont replace that always. also most custom roms dont flash with odin.
get a stock rom. read the instructions, flash

If you are getting .zip signature errors when trying to flash a rom (because you are using 3e recovery) you will not be able to flash a kernel.
Supercurio did make a KB1 kernel that is installable via Odin. If you install that, you will also get CWM recovery. Then you can flash anything you want.
Either way you will need an Odin program. Either Odin One Click to flash back to stock 2.1 or Odin v1.7 to flash the Supercurio KB1 Kernel .tar file.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I think the speedmod kernal is i9000 based which would cause a major headache/bootloop on the stock rom.

The problem is, the OP has no idea what he's doing. It sounds like he's wanting to flash to 2.1, then add a I9000 kernel. Since he's all over the place, it's hard to decipher what he's thinking.
To the OP. I'd HIGHLY suggest you look for the stickied "how to" video's by Connexxion. They will tell you what you need to do and show you EXACTLY how to do it. Invaluable info for the noobs.
Here is the link your looking for, download the installer zip file at the bottom of the first post. Extract to your fancy, use the install.bat file once extracted. Be sure to have the phone connect to the pc (DO NOT MOUNT) and have USB Debugging on.

ok no need to flash 2.1
get neldars kernel flashing app from the market
get a kernel for froyo without 3e recovery in the dev section. this one is great
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=547852&d=1300708475
use neldars app (edit) "sgs kernel flasher" or something to that effect. to flash this kernel
then flash cognition
you can also use odin3 but not the oneclick downloader without the .pit file and flash the same kernel placed in the pda slot.
when you installed keis mini, it installed new WRONG drivers (for odin)
reinstall the original other drivers.
BUT. in your OP all you wanted was to be able to flash COG or something.
ALL you have to do is fix your 3e recovery, SEVERAL people including myself have told you how to fix it. then CWM will work! you dont need a computer to fix 3e if you have root explorer (google it $) .
if you are going to flash a custom rom anyway dont bother going back to 2.1.
if you are going to stay stock, 2.2 is better anyway. (aside from 3e but staying stock dont matter)
you can also use odin3 but not the oneclick downloader without the .pit file and the same kernel placed in the pda slot.

well that doesn't make my whole post irrelivent. if he is rooted and has busy box he can use neldars kernel flasher. sorry if i over looked something.
Ok, well i got the aio toolbox, and i flashed back to stock. Now im running 2.1-update1. How do i go about rooting now? I cant seem to find a root file. Thanks.

[Q] DEAR GOD please help. Rooting, changing OS, Downloading ROM.

Ok I have been at this for a few hours. I have upgraded the original Samsung Infuse 4G HD's firmware to gingerbread version something or other but it is a leaked release. Sooo now I'd like to root the phone and put a ROM on it. I downloaded everything I believe I need. (Again I have been at this for awhile) I have SOC and KiesMini as well as full Kies. I have downloaded Titanium Backup, ROM manager, and Superuser to the phone. I went to do a root on SOC and it will get to step 6 and freeze. I've read a few things and gathered that I need to download the drivers for the phone again and restart root process. Well it's been and hour and a half and I can find the damn drivers anywhere on the web. I have repeatedly unplugged and replugged the phone to the computer and let it download the drivers. Kies and KiesMini both are unable to connect to the phone. Scratch that Mini connects but doesn't recognize the device, my guess is that it does not have the original firmware on it, then again I don't see how this would stop the program from recognizing the phone itself seeing as though this was just a firmware update. I'm semi new to this so I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.
Please if you have a full guide or step by step instructions or just know where the hell to get the drivers online I'd be very appreciative.
Also if this is the wrong thread section, let me know I'll be happy to move it. I believe I am in the right place though.
Thank you,
If I understand correctly, you already rooted your phone once. Then flashed one of the gingerbread leaks and lost root?
I don't think any of the normal root methods will work. I believe you need to flash a certain kernel to get root back.
Or just use GTGs method to get back to stock. Then normal root methods will work.
if all else fails try superoneclick. thats what i used. and once you get it rooted again flash the MIUI mod to your phone. its a great ROM, i highky recommend it. anyways i agree with the guy above. you may need to find a way to flash a different kernal. let us know how it goes.
Imo, i would flash back to stock with with GTG's unbrick... Either flash community kernel to get red CWM or do SOC to get root, download CWM Rom Manager from market and flash CWM Recovery thru there, make sure to choose "Galaxy s i9000" and NOT the MTD. Do it twice just in case or thrice for sure. You should be able flash any ROM through there or reboot to recovery. This has worked for me multiple times. Good luck.

I would suggest using GTG's back to stock package, then re-root, flash the leak (if you still want it), and flash Entropy's DD for root, then flash back to the stock kernel.
Reply if you need any help with this, I'll try to reply during school, if I don't, someone else will, or I will after school.
If you need root with gb I assume you flashed a stock kernel. The board elders have stated you can't root gb through superoneclick. That hack was patched. You need to flash a rooted kernel and then flash back to stock if you want stock or just leave it with custom kernel. Read through the uckj2 (I think) thread in development. Linuxbozo gave perfect instructions.

It's good that the information is finally getting passed around. Sorry but root it's now done from the kernel end. It's the last backdoor in but Samsung makes it easy on the user end, only problem now is ya gotta wait for developers to compile kernels with initramfs mods.
what you need is.
1. Drivers, Samsung.com infuse product support section. No need for kies.
2. A kernel that roots, entropy has a good one with wifi and sd compatibility.
3. A flash tool such as Odin or heimdall and dependencies. (visual c++ redistributable package from Microsoft download center for heimdall)
4. (optional) a stock uckj2/4/ kernel if you want hdmi to work.
If you use Odin, the custom kernel that will root you needs to be in a ".tar" archive. You put it in the pda slot. After first boot you will have root and have the option to flash back to a kernel with hdmi. once rooted this can be done with sgs kernel flasher if you can't find the .tar version of the stock kernel, you can extract the zimage from the original Odin package and zip it or .rar it and put it on the sd card to be flashed in kernel flasher.
If you use heimdall (my personal preference) you will extract the zimage out of what ever archive it is in. it may be .zip .tar .rar it can even be cwm flashable. You open the tab labeled "flash" load the infuse.pit that gtg made (found with the unbrick package) then click the "add" button select "kernel" for the partition and then browse for the zimage for the root kernel.
Same process to go back to the hdmi kernel for heimdall. Or you can use kernel flasher like I explained above.
No need to go back to stock or wipe data for kernel flashing. That's just overkill and a waist of time.

Awesome instructions but I think it's worth mentioning (and maybe that's why you DIDN'T mention it actually) that you need a pit to flash anything in the front end but unless you WANT to repartition, you should make sure that check box is UNCHECKED after you select the pit.

Yeah don't repartition!. It's potential for disaster, better left for situations whet you have all the partitions to flash and the phone won't boot after trying without repartition. The pit is just for partition mapping in the new front end. I guess it's designed to work with devices that may have different partitioning as well

This is true. 1.1 works great and doesn't need a pit file. It is also easier if you never used it before. It kinda explains itself.

It be very appreciated, i'm doing this for a buddy and i don't want to give him a brick lol.

4. Install custom roms.

OP might want to look at these threads:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=963403
Note: as b-eock pointed out, make sure what was your stock version before restoring it!
I've always just flashed newer than my stock to avoid that problem and it always works well for me, after bricking or when i want to flash a new rom i flash to cappy gingerbread and flash boog kernal to get CWM(clockworkmod). CWM is essential is you plan on flashing to other roms. If you plan on flashing to another rom anyways it doesn't matter which version of stock you load as long as it work so I'd just flash 2.2 or newer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
- this has all the odin 1-click flashable packages for captivate
To do everything you want to do...
flash back to stock, use 2.2 or one of the 2.3 versions. If you plan on flashing to a gingerbread rom (2.3) you'll most likely need the gingerbread bootloaders, if you don't originally flash a odin package with the gingerbread bootloaders you might be asked to install them later depending on what rom you use
incase you don't know odin is the computer program used to flash one click packages, you can find it by searching XDA, one click packages won't require it.
odin has to be open before you plug the usb into the phone putting it into download mode.
to flash to other roms you need CWM (ClockWorkMod-a customized recovery mode for the phone) the thread in this post has links to odin flashable kernals with CWM for each software build. To get CWM flash the respective kernal for the version you use. You'll need odin to flash the new kernal, its essentially stock apart from CWM. In odin select PDA and browse to the kernal zip to flash it.
you can search around XDA for oneclickroots, they will typically be odin or CWM flashable it's quite straight forward. New roms will typically already be rooted so you shouldn't have to root again.
good luck!
Does anyone know which exact ODIN i need to flash to get back to 2.2 from download mode.
You can use adamoutler's uckb2 heimdall one click. That's stock 2.2.
But whitch ODIN do i use.

Unfortunately, there is currently no Odin one-click of stock Froyo (at least that I'm aware of). If you want stock Froyo, you'll need to either piece it together with full Odin, or use the Heimdall One-Click.

Take a look in this post. That should get you the right 3E recovery.
Once you have that, you can either use ROM Manager to install CWM recovery, or see if you can find a kernel with it already baked in and use ODIN to flash the kernel (look for the speedmod kernel).
Or you could flash stock GB, but that updates bootloaders and is a whole different can of worms.

Normally, the answer would be yes. However, as part of the Froyo update, AT&T managed to mess up the recovery menu, meaning that it won't flash unsigned packages. This makes getting CWM basically impossible without doing the steps in that post or flashing a different kernel.
You can root if you want to, but doing the steps in that post first will save you some headache.

I already rooted =/ , should i still try this?
If you have full ODIN, go here, and download the kernel labeled "speedmod-kernel-i897-k13c-500hz.tar" at the end of the first post. Open Odin, and in the "PDA" slot, navigate to the .tar file and flash it. That will get you the speedmod kernel, which has CWM, which you need to be able to flash.
Once it's flashed, just hold V+/V-/Power until it reboots, and then you'll be in CWM and can flash MIUI.
I'm assuming you've backed up all your apps with Titanium Backup, right? If you haven't, do that before you do anything else so you don't lose them.

[ODIN][KERNEL] Odin Kernel and Recovery Repository - Infuse 4G

ABOUT
------------------------
This is a collection of popular kernel and recovery combinations for the Infuse 4G in Odin tar.md5 format. Extract these rar packages in a program like 7zip, and flash the tar.md5 in Odin.
Please be sure that the kernel / recovery image that you flash is intended for the rom that you plan to use. For more information and support for each kernel, please visit the appropriate thread for that kernel. Please don't ask questions about the kernels or report kernel related bugs in this thread.
If there is another kernel that you'd like to see in this thread, let me know!
PACKAGES
------------------------
GINGERBREAD KERNELS
Stock UCLB3 Kernel / Stock UCLB3 Recovery
ODIN-UCLB3-GB-stock-zImage.rar
Note: Ensure that Voodoo lagfix is disabled before flashing the stock UCLB3 kernel. Also, this kernel should most likely only be used with UCLB3 based roms. If you have issues seeing your external SD card after using this kernel, see the answer to question 1.) in the FAQ below.

INSTALL
------------------------
1.) Download and extract the desired kernel package from the section above.
2.) If needed, download the Odin exe HERE.
3.) If needed, install the latest Samsung USB drivers. You can get these by installing Samsung Kies, which can be found HERE.
4.) Place phone in download mode.
5.) Open the Odin exe; if your phone is recognized, the window under ID:COM will turn yellow.
6.) In Odin, click on "PDA" and browse to the tar.md5.
7.) Select the tar.md5. Make sure it shows up in the PDA window, and then click on Start. Do not power off or disconnect the phone while Odin flashes the package and reboots the phone.
8.) You're finished. If the progress window in Odin is green and reads "PASS!", then you have successfully flashed the kernel / recovery package.
FAQ
------------------------
1.) I flashed the stock UCLB3 kernel and now I can't access my external sd card. How can I fix this?
In UCLB3 based roms, if you flash the stock UCLB3 kernel after using a custom kernel, you will most likely have trouble seeing your external sdcard. To fix this, use Root Explorer (or a similar app) to edit /system/etc/vold.fstab. In Root Explorer, browse to /system/etc and choose "Mount R/W" to gain write permission to the directory. Open vold.fstab in the built in text editor. Change the mmc2 in the last line to mmc1. Save and exit. Reboot, and you will regain use of your external sd card.

We're all set!
Thanks, Jesse.
Note to any user:
If you are on a GB ROM and lost recovery or in a boot loop, one attempt would be to flash just the GB kernel to get back into CWM recovery. You may not need to flash the entire ROM.
Likewise, if you are on a ICS CM9 ROM and lost recovery or in boot loop, you can also try to flash just the ICS kernel to get back to CWM recovery.
If you can't use Odin, use the Heimdall's. If you can't use the Heimdalls, use the Odin.
edit: (after thoughts for new users)
Also: If you are on any stock GB build and flash one of the GB kernels, you don't need to perform any superoneclick, modded 3e etc. You can proceed directly into CWM recovery and flash with you want. If you want only root, check out jscott's root thread or my root thread.

check my sig. Kernel thread has Xda direct download of the cwm flash, from which the kernel can be extracted and flashed with sgs kernel flasher.
You can do this once you have a non stock kernel in place.
All this assumes gb, btw.

Frustrated
Somebody please help me. I put my wife's infuse back to stock (UCLB3) First I couldn't root it. Then I flashed the stock rooted with Odin. I proceded to install CWM with the 3e file, and ROM Manager. That didn't work. I also tried to flash this kernel (UCLB3) to see if it would give me CWM... Nothing! I am close to loosing my mind. I could do this **** all day long on my Epic 4G but for some reason this phone is kicking my ass.
One thing I'd like to point out is when i power down my phone and try to go into recovery the option to "reinstall packages" does not show. That is the only thing different i've noticed than all the videos and tuturials I found on the thread. Somebody please help me.

Okay, where you lose me is "the 3e file and ROM Manager." Sounds like you're not following the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27283140&postcount=1
Make sure, first of all, that you're flashing this one, especially if you're flashing back from CM10. Flash in Odin following jscott30's instructions to the letter. To add CWM, download one of those kernels. Open up the zip file and pull out the zimage and put it on your sdcard (the internal one). Download SGS Kernel Flasher. In SGS Kernel Flasher, choose to flash the zimage you just put on your phone. It will ask to reboot. Reboot and Bob's you're uncle! You have CWM.
Finally, I feel bad for posting here because the dev forums are being overrun with Q&A questions like these. So, apologies to everyone else. However, I've been there and wanted to help you out. In future, please use the Q&A forum if you have a help question.
Wow whizz, thank u very much for the help. I know some moderators would get mad at what u dis. But man I was literarily loosing my mind. I evwn rhrough the phone at my wife cause I was so iritated. I folowed what u said. Extracted zimage and flashed with the kernel app off the market. All I gotta say is thank u very much. Now wheres that thank u button?

1. Not going to happen with JB or ICS roms.
2. GB (and Froyo) roms - make sure to disable voodoo lagfix from CWM recovery, reboot and allow conversion process to complete. Then flash a stock kernel using Odin, Heimdall, or SGS kernel flasher. You will lose CWM recovery and some ADB capabilities.
Good luck...

thanks in advance
Don't think you can flash those files, but you should be able to go back to stock.

Follow these instructions. I would use the zip that takes you back to stock with root.
Keep one thing in mind.....you CANNOT go from Froyo to JB.

Lack of reading/research caused your error :/
Anyways go back to stock with heimdall.or Odin, get red cwm again and you should be able to restore your backups
If you want to go to jb in the future....then you must first follow go to ics, then jb...you have to have ics before you can flash gb

thanks again to all the comments, yes this was a big Noob mistake, i guess i was just way to excited to jump on the JB wagon. i have since returned to stock froyo using one of the kernals from this site (Stock_Root-Mod3e-UCKD5_Odin), so this is what i have now... although a little phased i still want to give this a second attemp. the rom i wanted to flash was [ROM][JellyBean] CNA 3.5.0 / Nightly 9/20 for Samsung Infuse [PORT]....
just to get things straight so i don't mess up again, i have to flash froyo with ics (is there a specific ics version i should get? on a how to guide on flashing jb i found this info: Entropy512's CM9 Kernel / Blue CWM Recovery 2012.05.02-ODIN-Entropy-CM9-zImage.rar) can i use this one, i prefer odin b/c i've never used heimdall. then after i flash ics then i can flash to jb.... but reading some threads i saw that....
"Currently on stock Froyo:
1) Use Heimdall or Odin to flash stock UCLB3 (GB)
*Reccomendation: Also flash GB bootloaders. See first post for links and warnings.*
2) Flash Entropy's DD kernel to obtain root and red CWM recovery.
Currently on stock GB:
1) Flash Entropy's DD kernel to obtain root and red CWM recovery."
do i have to do this step or can i go forward with the current Stock_Root-Mod3e-UCKD5_Odin that i now have installed....?
secondly, after i install ics, right before i flash jb it states i have to do an aroma prep....then flash jb.....
all flashes are done with clockworkmod and i wipe only cache and dalvik? or is there anything else i have to wipe?
sorry for all the questions, i have read and researched many threads but they are all pretty overwhelmingly full of lots of info.....just wanna get it in order....
thanks again
from froyo to ics i use odin, from odin to jb i use cwm, correct?

Follow all steps, don't skip a thing. As for wiping, wipe Cache, Data, Dalvik, and format /System when going from GB to ICS and ICS to JB. That UCLB3 file is Gingerbread stock and you have to go to gingerbread before you go to ICS.
Also, if you are confident that your phone won't get disconnected from Odin while flashing the UCLB3 file, flash the GB bootloaders while you're at it. If the flash fails while flashing bootloaders then your device is bricked so be sure about Odin before you flash them.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Since you have already used Odin, I would use option "C". The best thing you can do is read everything two or three times. There are also many vids on YouTube that are helpful.
Once you are on GB.....just pick out any ICS ROM an flash it. Once it installs, I wouldn't even bother sitting it up and then you can go to JB.
Th3Bill uses an Aroma installer in his ROMs and the first time you use it, you will have to flash his aroma-prep first.
Hang in there....go slowly...and read. This gets easier and easier the more you do it. I always just d/l the zips to my phone and never even have to mess with the PC.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523
Edit: All of his ROMs for the Infuse can be found and d/l at Jokersax.com
Edit: I just reread your post......once you are on GB, you won't use Odin again. You will use whatever ICS zip to flash your ROM using CWM. Same thing with JB.

okay i think i understand....never has my phone disconnected during a flash with odin, ive always gotten a straight pass...exactly how important are the bootloaders anyways? if failures happen b/c of faulty usb cords, then im good...if bricking happens b/c of "unlucky chance" then id rather avoid it.... either way ill start the whole process tonight after i put the kiddos away so i can concentrate 100%.
thanks again for the tips

so far so good, it seems i need to do the gb bootloader after all...got the rainbow screen....i have my gbbootloader file ready to go....only thing is i want to confirm where i put the file, i've searched and i can only find a procedure for heimdall not odin...do i put the md5 file in PDA or bootloaders?? also it says in heimdall to tick bootloaders, do i do the same in odin??? it also says to flash twice....?? ok im really not risking a hard brick, i'll be patient and wait
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878458
i'll wait for your answer before i proceed....after this i'll continue to flash ics and then jb...
btw, am i supposed to flash ics twice?? that's what the [GUIDE] How To Flash JB says,
"9. Flash ICS Rom, then ICS Gapps"
but when i tried to flash ics a second time i couldn't (because of rainbow screen, and because it didn't show up in my directory....and where does ICS Gapps show up?
thanks again
If you downloaded the bootloaders linked in the guide, then yes, they go on the pda slot. You only have to flash once.
Heimdall-one click is the one you must flash once before it allows you to flash the bootloaders too.
Edit: to fully install ics you must flash twice, because I believe that what it does when coming from GB is that it just flashes the ics kernel on the first flash, requiring you to run it a second time after rebooting for it to install the complete rom.
Ics gapps are often linked in the rom OPs, although you don't need to flash them if you are headed to JB.

That's odd, I flashed GB bootloaders in Odin from a rooted stock GB. But andros is right about going in the PDA slot. Maybe its just me that didn't have to flash with heimdall first.

Shawn what I meant is that heimdall one-click wont allow you to flash bootloaders the 1st time, so you must run it once and then a 2nd time but with "flash bootloaders" ticked on.
There's no need to use heimdall before flashing them with Odin.

Alright guys, I'm officially a jelly beaner!! Thanks again to all who replied and helped me out, couldn't have done it without your help everything seems to we working fine (with the exception of a few apps that aren't compatible, but they weren't that important ) only issue I have now is that I can't use my data plan and surf the web I configured everything just as I had it before according to my carrier and nothing ...... could it have something to do with the change in modem? When I scan for available network operators I get two options one says :NICMS and the other is just a number 71021... any ideas?
Also, when installing jb in the initial setup it asked which would be the defualt location to save I think I chose the sdcard instead of the emmc directory. ..can I change that setting?
I'm pretty sure you can change the setting, but not sure how. Also, your APNs might be messed up. There's a thread with working APNs. One sec and I'll link it.
