RUU Question - HTC Sensation

I have a T-MO branded Sensation with S-Off. I'd like to take advantage of the updates that the latest ruu's offer. Can I just go ahead and flash the latest tmous ruu? Will this result in s-off? Thanks.

Since you have a post count of 476 as of me typing this I don't feel bad.
Why the hell would you put something like this, ESPECIALLY WITH THE WORD QUESTION IN THE TITLE, here in the general forum? You've been around. You know better. Also, a simple search would answer your question. Things like this are the reason this forum is clogged. Mods please close.

Thanks. Perhaps you can tell me where I can post a question then. I remember a time when you could post a general question in the general forum.

There is a whole other forum titled "Q&A." Questions go there, but always remember to search first. This same question has been answered at least two times that I remember.

Nope, flashing it won't put your phone to s-on. You have to do that manually. There's a how to in the main sticky in the dev forum. Can't link at the moment as I'm mobile.

How to get HTC ROM on a branden device?

Hi!
Found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15106225&postcount=1 guide over at the Wildfire S section, does this work even on our Sensation to get rid of the branding e.g Vodafone?
Or does it work in the first place? Sound very easy and simple...
1.- Create Goldcard.

Falls at the first hurdle. Best we have on sensation is temp root at the moment.
This should be in the Q&A section! Get it right people!
Doe's anybody try it with his sensation?

No because it can't be tried.

It's not in the development line, because if you searched, you would know that the goldcard method has already been tried, and doesn't work

Alright.. cool it. The guy's just asking if it can be done. I've been allover these forums for a while and I never ran across the "goldcard method" for the sensation. It's not that easy to find...
The question is just fine in this forum. Not like it's bustling with activity or anything...
just found this
hey guys i just found this see sensation and evo 3D are mention to http://teamandroid.in/create-goldcard-for-htc-android-phones-video-guide-theandroidsoul/

Apologies. I think the gold card thread was closed a while ago, because it doesn't work. Pretty sure there is a link to it in the roll-up thread though. Either way, it is annoying when people don't post threads in the correct section.

Yes, that is the way to make a gold card, but sadly (due to the new security on the Sensation I assume) it doesn't work. It's the same way that is used to make all gold cards. There have been a lot of "guides" showing how to do things for the Sensation, for example use GingerBreak. It's just people taking a guide for a different device and adding Sensation or EVO 3D to the title, knowing that people are looking for it. Extreme laziness on the part of the people who post them.

S-Off to S-On

I am completely new, I have an s-off ds, I want to turn s-on back on so I can update my phone to 2.3.5 any ideas how to, sorry if I seem dumb
I'm not sure why you would want to get S-ON just to have an official upgrade to 2.3.5 when custom ROMs already have 2.3.7, but I believe what you're looking for is in this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187231
Any other questions you might have can be answered by searching through the Desire S Android Development Forums
You can always browse through this Index for anything else worth mentioning. Hope this helps.
I would agree with previous post. Seen all the problems with official update? Much better off sticking with s-off and one of proxusers sense 3.0 ports. Or bindroid. Or coredroid. Any problems will be patched much faster than HTC.

I dont understand a word of what any of you said. I want it back to when I bought it. I dont understand any of this.
The fact is, there isn't a simple "one click and you're done" way to do this. So if you really want to do this, you're going to have to learn how to. The thread i linked is a good start, and the index thread in the development forum is also a great place to find guides on doing just about anything you might need. If all else fails, you could try and find someone in your area who's willing to do this for you, but I wouldn't depend on it.
Thanks for all the help. I took it back to store claiming software fault. They replaced my phone.

[Q] How do you install HTC Sense 3.5 into Desire S

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...244739&page=28 i downloaded HTC sense 3.5 from the link above, but how do i get it to be installed on my phone? It's a .zip file so i don't know which app to run in the folder..
After reading your post I dont recommend you do it but if you insist, you must tell us whether you're S-OFF and have root first.
If you're even more confused now, this thread is great

Buddy, you're heading to the North Pole with a pair of Jeans and two T-shirts. Don't get me wrong, but i agree with dan-fish's assessment that you should do a lot of reading from the General section before you start contemplating flashing a ROM.
I mean no offence, and i'm not patronizing you, but from your questions above, it looks like you have absolutely no clue about s-off, rooting and eventually installing a custom ROM. I only emphasize this to keep you from accidentally bricking your device.
If you read all the guides in this forum (especially the excellent one by nodeffect), these questions will answer themselves on their own.

[Q]How to S-OFF One S S3

I bought new phone - One S - and is the S3 model.
Before this I had HTC Incredible S where the S-OFF was possible without HTCDEV. I did some searching on XDA and I couldn't find anything on how to S-OFF ONE S S3 without HTCDEV.
Can someone please help me or write a tutorial?
Thank you!
Cheers,
Matjaz

That's because you can't s-off without htc.dev
....or with htc.dev for that matter.

Thank you for fast reply.
Is there a way to get it back to the original state (S-ON) in an undetectable way for HTC if needed for warranty?
Thank you!

Yeah if we had s off we could edit the text to say anything

Ok seriously. Eleventh post in the development section that isn't development in a few days. That's what Q&A is for! And there is no S-OFF...and won't be for awhile.

Try reporting the thread and selecting maintenance/post moving as the reason, that might work better.
Mods of xda operate on report-only basis because there is are just too many threads/posts to proactively moderate
Moved To Q&A
Please post questions in the Q&A section. Also added [Q] to make it clear to all what this thread is about.

[Q] Getting S-OFF

I know there's a thread for s-off already, but it seems to have stalled? I am looking to start something, and figure it out before I end up contacting HTC myself. First question I have, is there such a thing as a DIAG file for the XL? I see on one x forum that they have been working on a way to use a white card, and this diag file, but they have only one problem, the CID needs to be be a superCID, which most of us with XL already have. I know I do. Please help me help find a way. Thanks.

Glad you wanna join in
I would start tho by reading what info is available, starting a new thread on project development should at least start with something not already being researched in the first thread. Not being rude, but read thru the existing thread, get as many questions as you can answered, and then figure out what questions need to be answered. It really is a practice that makes things simpler, information referenced easier, efficient and much much more productive.
The existing s off thread is in the general forum so anybody can post anytime too, so feel free to read and post, in that order

Yes I have read it over, If anyone can find any hboot that can be s-offed, does it have to be for the evita, or could we use an (ENG hboot?) from the jewel? I have read on one forum that this user flash successfully the evita on to his jewel, and it would boot to the bootloader, which is all you need for some of the o-ff tools, then once you write the S-OFF flag, you should be good to flash any hboot back and maintain that flag?
Anyways, I have read all over, I just can post in the dev forums... yet. I have read them all over time and time again. So this is yet another option to try out.

as 18th.abn rightly reminded us, the s-off thread is in general so you can post to it, just tread lightly...

You were asked to tread lightly in the s-off thread but no you go in there and bombard/pollute the thread with irrelevant comments. The S-off thread is not for you to ask questions. If you have a MEANINGFUL contribution to make by all means do but at this point why don't you sit back, take a deep breath and READ instead of pissing everybody off and making an already tense situation worse,
Please, pretty please. I'm f#$%&ing begging you.
