Flashing radios and backups. - Thunderbolt General

If you create a backup of your phone via clockwork, then flash a new radio and Rom. Then want to restore to the previous setup, do you have to flash the old radio.
How do I know which radio is current. I flashed one radio in my life on the incredible and want gingerbread sense 3.0 Rom but I'm paranoid.

Yes. You have to flash the old radio in hboot to get it back.

How do I know which one I currently have and there's no problem flashing back to a previous radio?

I have been reading good things about the .802 radio. I plan to install my 1st custom ROM along with this radio over the weekend.

Flashing radios on the Tbolt isn't as risky as it was on the dInc. I've flashed back and forth between newer and older radios 3 times in a day. It's a different process, but it's not that scary once you've done it. The link in my sig has instructions and links to all the radios.

Under About Phone/Software/More I have the following information:
Baseband version
1.48.00.0726w_2, 0.01.78.802w_3
I installed the new 802 radio to go with my NonS3ns3 (GB 2.11) ROM via by renaming
(802)PG05IMG.ZIP to PG05IMG.ZIP and installing it.
Did I update the CDMA and LTE radio or just CDMA? Is there a second file I need to install for the latest LTE radio?
EDIT: I little more reading on my part at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048128 and I see that I have the latest CDMA and LTE radios from the 2.10.605.1 RUU
Curious if I should upgrade the CDMA radio to 1.48.00.0817 since its from the 2.11.605.0 RUU.
and I am still curious about the PRI info:
PRI Version is listed as:
1.41_002, 1.64.002
How is this information tied to the radio version?
Thanks for any guidance.

i am installing a eagleblood 2.3.4 custom rom, and they recommend to install new radio (baseband). so i just want to know if i want to go back to my stock radio how do i do that. and how to back up my current radio
go to the radio thread in the Dev section and find your radio there, there is no way to back your radio up, but all known radios are in the radio thread for download, yours will be there

[Q] Neccessary to upgrade radio?

Hi there!
Have recently installed oxygen with tiamat kernel. (seems to be a nice ROM)
My hboot says:
Saga PVT Ship S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.98.100.2
Radio-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC boot
I was thinking if flashing a new radio may help regarding stability and batterydrain problems? Or should I only flash radio if there is something more seriously wrong with the phone?
In the case its recommended to upgrade the radio, wich one should I use?
its only suggested to flash new radio if you have a real need to. As it flashes a critical part of the phone! I personally have upgraded to latest radio with no problems. If you do go ahead make sure you check the md5 sums match before flashing!
+1 only flash when you need to.
It may be useful though.
I upgraded to the new radio and now I get 3G in my area! Previously on the stock Radio that came with the phone, i only had 2G..

*quote everyone who answer on the "do i need a new radio?" question*
if u don't need it - don't do it!
usually it's not necessary to update your radio.
Thanks guys for the info, I will wait to update that radio!

thnx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes almost everyone would say it's not necessary to flash radio unless there's something wrong with the current one, because there's a risk of bricking your phone!
but still, i did it nevertheless because i could was new to the android community so i tried everything i could get my hands on =D
proceed with caution!!
problem solved.
but how can i return to s-on?!!!
its still s-off...
I would also like to know whether flashing new radio would help me. I recently switched to the new operator and I know have problems during a handover between GSM and UMTS during a call - connection often breaks. Would flashing a new radio? I`m currently using 20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M

A little help?

^^^That is your radio version.
The latest is 1.06es.50.02.31
You can flash radios without running RUUs or OTAs if your HBOOT version is older than 1.13
Thanks I have an older hboot but I can't seem to find a flashable zip only ruus and ota

Probably the Viper One S ROM isn't based on the TMOUS ROM. TMOUS ROMs show rel.99 3G, HSPA and DC-HSPA as 4G, this is by design/marketing. If it shows 3G when idle and H when active then all is working as intended. Confirm this by getting the speedtest.net app and checking download speeds, anything above 384 Kbps is HSPA.
Look at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26312897#post26312897
You can extract those 3 images from the RUU or OTA.
In the RUU they are in the rom.zip. In the OTA they are in firmware.zip.
So its the same speeds as always just differenet icon?

Yes, speeds are same just incorrect icons

Thats correct. You can try to flash it but it wont actually work. The only way to use a different radio on a higher hboot (besides OTA updates and RUUs) is to go to an AOSP ROM. They hold radio files in a different location (there is a CM10 radio flasher in the development forums). This still wont replace the underlying radio on your phone (which will be there if you go back to SENSE base ROMs). But it will allow you to try out different radios.
Not brick, only don't install
you don't tell us what rom you are on--
either way, read this thread

Now any hboot can flash radios on sense, using the CM10 installer.
