Hello, I'm finally getting my XTC-Clip tomorrow and need some short quick steps to use it, please could someone do it in 5 or 6 steps clearly and in text no videos - thank you.

Yes, it's quite easy. 5-6 steps. The software will launch once you plugin the XTC Clip to your PC. It will then walk you through the steps. Some of the steps are incorrect:
- The s/w will instruct you to hit the Power button for Diag, but it only works when you hit the Volume-Down button.
- "HTC ChaCha" is referred to by "HTC Click" (The programmer forgot to change the name).
I also had issues plugging in the SIM adapter (XTC Clip cable) into the SIM card slot. The solution is here:

Yup. The 2nd point I mentioned is just a description mistake. Substitute "HTC Click" for whatever device you are using. Cheers.
Sucessfully S-Off but not unlocked
I got the s-off to work finally... You need to double check that the cables are in the right way round and make sure the sim card is fully in until it clicks by using another sim to push it in fully...
Only problem is it didn't unlock the phone like it says it would...
I put a different sim card in but still not accepting
anyone got a solution

Not sure if this should be part of the other unlocking thread, but I've created another way to get the unlock code for the Elf/Elfin, and it's much faster. I've tested it on two phones so far.
1) First, unzip the contents of the attachment.
2) Then connect your Elf/Elfin to Activesync, and then run the unlocker.bat to get your unlock code (must be 8 digits).
As always, to unlock the phone, you need to first obtain a SIM card that is not from your provider. When you insert the card, it will ask for the SIM unlock code, so enter the code from my program. (You can test the SIM unlock by going on eBay and searching for "gsm sim card" - you can get them for very cheap.)
NOTE: If you're having issues running this in Windows Vista 64-bit edition, do this: Open Windows File Explorer, right-click on every EXE file in this archive, go to properties/compatibility, and then change compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Then click Apply and run the unlocker.bat.
(Thanks Cyzeek!)
If the unlock code is not working for you: Please run the device_info.bat tool from this link. Look for the value called "MCC+MNC". Most likely your phone won't unlock with this solution because your MCC+MNC is None!
UPDATE 05/26/09: If the unlock code is not working for you, then follow the instructions here for another solution that might work. Thanks to zerostuff for finding it!!
If it still doesn't unlock, then you are out of luck and need to find a paid solution.

I had this problem too in the past, I don't know how the unlock number worked a few months later. Do you have the stock ROM on it? Have you also tried hard reset? Even though the SIM code is in another area of the device from the OS, maybe there is some way it gets changed or gets accepted.
First, I want to thank you for the fast reply
I've haven't changed the ROM and after it doesn't unlock too. It says that I've entered wrong code 9 times, when I've tried to enter my unlock code for the first time they was 7 but I've entered it 2 times and this is it. If I change the ROM would the counter Reset and probably accept my code ?

That's a good suggestion. From what I remember, I tried to unlock using the stock Rogers ROM. Then I unlocked it while I had PDA Viet.
Let us know what happens.
OK I'll try. But how I must change the ROM
I have this HTC from yesterday and I don't understand anything about it.
If there is post with instructions for ROM changing it would be helpful

Read the sticky thread at the top of the forum and get these done:
1) Find your device ID (check my sig)
2) Back up your device (again, my sig) or obtain the shipped ROM for it (for warranty purpose or to unbrick)
3) Flash the latest USPL (see my sig)
4) Flash any cooked or dumped ROM (try not to flash any shipped ROM that is not from your provider yet)

I didn't know there was a limit. But you can only download one at a time.
does the unlocker works with an touch xl (p3452) with original htc rom (provider austria a1) ?
I've done everything like you said. Now I'm with Rogers ROM and it doesn't want unlock. There is only one plus from the ROM changing - my HTC is in English, it was on Spanish before...
If you have other idea tell me to test

You mean you already tried 9 times? Is it stuck at that screen? If so, remove the SIM and re-insert, and try again.
Hope this would not be one an other thread about dead spv...
I read everything in the other threads but nothing match my situation...
I have pass every step until the complete flash of the device with the RUU. (with shipped rom)
Normally the device reboot, but mine won't instea of that the lead blink 3 or 4 times green and orange and then nothing...
Any idea? Thanks
(This happens on my extra HTC s710 that is simlock, could that be the reason why?)
Well, you have to SIM unlock it first before you flash. I believe the program to do that is called SDA unlocker or so; just go to the thread with the ROMs and you'll find the instructions... But you have to connect your phone to the pc first...

not sim lock! cid carrierid unlock! its done by hardspl! (sda sec diasabler dissables sec feature in wm!)
and if he wouldnt have cid unlock it would cancel update at 3%
So, it happens that the phone had start to work, apparently, correctly again.
I was able to boot it, flash a new rom on it...
But there is a problem with it, it stops after some time. Only if it is not plugged to the charger or the pc.
Bah, as I bought it to test rom or in case of a need of spare parts...

Find out what SPL you have. You can do that in fastboot mode while powering down your phone. And then press Home+End/Power to get it there. Write down the first lines in the application.

it is unlock as i have the same phone. you need to root it first then flash whatever you want. its so easy after rooting......... flash direst from sd card by using home+power button when phone is off as no need for all that adb push stuff. you can actually place the Rav1.1.1G.img straight to sd card without all the messing........ if you look at commands that all you doing anyway.............but using sdk tools. i use an external card reader to copy all files over, pop back in phone and do ma thing

It's probably not unlocked.

Honestly don't know why you bought a phone designed to work on AT&T and Telstra. You should have bought the Desire HD with 900 mhz, not 850.
Make sure the SIM is activated and put in correctly.
Ensure the phone is S-OFF in-order to have it accept any SIM through Boot Manager.
Ensure the SDCard/Simcard cover is on and secure.
Restart phone.
•Ensure the phone is S-OFF in-order to have it accept any SIM through Boot Manager
Can you tell me how this can be done?
Thanks
To check it turn off your phone press power and volume down till the phone boots into hboot look at the top should say ship s-on or ship s-off if not
Root it using one of the two methods in the dev section.

Turn the phone OFF completely.
Hold down "Volume-Down" key then hold down power.
Just make sure to hold volume first before you hold power.
Wait for Bootloader
Should say S-OFF at the top of the bootloader to the right.
IF IT DOESN'T SAY THAT, you are SIM locked. Refer to this to unlock it:

Hence why it says to root the device (and tells him how to do it) in the first link before using the program to S-OFF
Hmm except for visionary doesn't work on the inspire... Hence he needs to go to the dev section and use one of the rooting methods to downgrade his Rom and radio, so he can root the phone.

Worked for me, oh well.
He can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961406 then.
It'll automatically downgrade the ROM & Radio + Root and S-Unlock it.
I wasn't trying to be rude. Visionary works on the desire hd, if I recall correctly because, the radio isn't signed. Where as, it is signed on the inspire. Which is why it makes it difficult to root and s-off.

Hi all.
I have A HTC Sensation, on Orange (UK).
The handset was completely standard, untouched. I have followed the guide to unlock my bootloader using HTC dev.
It seemingly worked, and I held volume down and pressed power and verified that the text at the top said "UNLOCKED". great
When I booted the phone, it gave me the "fresh start" intro screens, which I followed through on.
Once completed, the phone loaded to the normal home screen, but now gets no signal. Its always 0 bars and "NO SERVICE" warning.
Only thing I have done is as above, so unsure what could have gone wrong?
Only thing I can think is that I chose the wrong "what phone do you have" option on HTCDev. I chose HTC Sensation (EU), as the phone is not on tmobile, and not vodafone, and IS european. However, tmobile and orange are now part of the same umbrella company, so perhaps something bad happened there?
Unsure what I should do next? Re-lock the bootloader? Any suggestions very gratefully welcomed! Thanks
Hmm.. that's really weird. Unlocking the bootloader doesn't affect your cell phone signals. I would run a RUU and see if that fixes the problem.
Here's the guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26541170
Follow steps 2&3.
Before you do, try taking out your sim and putting it back in. I highly doubt you put your sim in the wrong way, but I did this before (I don't think I'm the only idiot out there)
Sent from my HTC Sensation
Thanks. I'll follow that guide.
SIM card is in OK. Was I supposed to remove the SIM when I was unlocking the bootloader? I didn't do that.
Just waiting for the RUU file to download.
The guide says I need one with a higher or equal version to my main version. My main version is 3.x and the highest version I can find via the links in the guide are 1.x. Will this be ok?
I'm really not sure how the phone got this screwed up.If I did select the incorrect device type in HTCDev (i.e. I selected Sensation EU and should have selected Sensation Tmobile) would that possibly cause this problem?
Would it be worth re-locking, then unlocking using the tmobile device? Guessing I would be supplied with a different unlock_code.bin?
EDIT: Just checked and the tmobile device choice is actually for "tmobile USA", so looking like I chose the correct device after all.
RUU I had failed. As I say my version is 3.x and this was 1.x so I'm not surprised.
My exact version reads: 3.32.61.51
Can anyone suggest a RUU file that I can have a go with, or any other suggestions?
Bootloader is currently RELOCKED.
Thanks
Did you try this ruu?
http://www.shipped-roms.com/downloa...0U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198549_signed.exe
EDIT: try looking for your ruu here: http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...riginal-roms&catid=65:htc-downloads&Itemid=98
The general ROM section has 3.32 versions.
Sent from my HTC Sensation
Yes, I tried the first one you posted, which wouldnt work (too old presumably).
I will try one of the unbranded ones; but unsure if they are suitable as I have an Orange logo when I boot?
Thanks
Still waiting for the RUU to download, so will probably carry on looking at this in the morning now.
A little more info that might give someone an idea:
If i go into settings, and click on "Mobile settings" and go to choose carrier, the phone searches for carriers.
25% of the time it says "no network found"
75% of the time, it finds O2.
25% of the time it finds 3 or vodafone
It never finds orange. It seems it IS looking for networks though?
If I put the SIM card in my very old dumb-phone, it finds orange fairly quickly and connects.
Thanks for any help

Hi guys
Thanks to you both for your suggestions.
This morning I unlocked the phone once more, and still had limited service. I then re-locked once again, and as soon as the phone booted it had full service, and has done ever since.
I have no idea what went wrong (they HTC Dev article is pretty straightforward, so I don't think I did anything wrong), and the action that I did above (unlock, relock) I must have done 5 times last night without any effect.
I am still determined to root the phone, so will probably end up with another broken handset soon But at least I will be doing it at the weekend this time, instead of midnight on a Thursday when I have to work at 7 the next day!
Thanks for all the help, I'm sure I'll be back with more questions (problems!) soon.
No problem! Glad to try to help
