[SHOCKED] Even i9001 has already build their cyanogenmod! Where is the i9003 one? - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Any one has witness this? Mr. Netchip from i9001 forum has already build their cyanogenmod test build today! Where is i9003 one?
(I am not blaming anyone, I would make my very effort in helping any of us who would like to make our phone better, our phone must gain the thing that other have also!)
Things we ought to do to make our phone better:
Cyanogenmod 7 (Can wait until the Final release come up)
MIUI (Somehow we are requesting, but still waiting...)
TV-out (Researching is in progress, but we have to get a more update source for doing it. Gaining other developers support is also very important. May be some developer from Motorola Milestone or LG optimus black can help.)
A complete stable enough kernel, can be overclocked to 1.2 Ghz or more and with some more features. (I believe our phone has enough top-level developer to do this. But the most important things is we must wait for a better and updated stock kernel. I think Samsung will release its forth stable GingerBread ROM in the upcoming days. Probably an Asia ROM.)
I fell confident to our phone because our phone has a potential to be better. We have to gain more support from some other place. I suggest we can co-operate with developers from LG optimus black, they have their oc kernel too. But stable. We have many similarities, both have a chipset TI OMAP 3630, same display resolution, both have open source kernel, also waiting for porting cyanogenmod, miui etc.
Well, talked so much about LG optimus black. At last I hope everyone in i9003 can help together to fight for a better future for our phone...
---------- Post added at 06:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:55 PM ----------
Also, one more thing we should fight for:
Tell everybody in the world, i9003 is different from i9000! We should have a different forum!!!

the i9001 build doesnt work!!
and fyi, they dont even have cwm!!!

Right! i9001 has CM7? I think we need to take a giant leap and port cm7! Let's see what happens! Ther reason why our phon eis not populare is because many people are going for a S or S2 with a cost of only some extra bucks! Our phone is only populare in Asia-Pacific region! We also need experienced Developers! Each and every i9003 XDA user is learning developement! (Which is a very very very good thing!) And , hence, we can soon make our phone better!

Cm7 for i9003!
All developers unite! !!!
A call to arms! !

+1
we would build an developers group with i9003 1st, to start...
and i hope others who have much income can do have a donation for this group so that they can buy a beer..

I have an idea. I will be downloading cm7 for i9000. I can see the structure of the file and I can try porting it! I would suggest everybody to download a CWM flashable zip and try this thing out. Also, I will not be availabel until 26th due to some personal reasons. The first thing I begin to do in the morning of September 26th will be to work on the structure and the port. I think, I can run CM7 on a stock CWM kernal! Let's wait and watch! Just wait......And Watch! ;-;

That sounds great!

@ rohan
rohan i really appreciate ur efforts. But galaxy s has complete different file structure & modified kernal than galaxy sl.
I said again & again & still saying that plz dont discuss by creating threads only. Instead of this plz contact cynogen mod developers & convince them to work for us. I really observed one thing that many people on our forum just want thing without any effort. By just writing here that we want CM7 not a single developer will look into ur thread even. If we approach other super developer and literally beg them to help us then @ least they will start to think upon our request. It may be successful or not but at least outer world will come to know the potential & spirit we all people have for our phone.

The dev who's working on the cm7 thing for the i9001 , 'netchip', does NOT own the phone and He's currently got a kernel for sgs2 (which he uses) too..
So i think we should ask him to help us with porting the cyanogen mod to our phone.. What say ??

Maybe we can ask them to help us..

please, somebody with GB, can you tell me if we have the following files in the filesystem:
/system/vendor/* (for example /system/vendor/bin/gpsd, /system/vendor/etc/gps.xml, /system/vendor/lib/hw/gps.aries.so)
/system/lib/libsamsungcamera.so
/radio/modem.bin
I asked it here but nobody answer it...
These files (and many more) need to make CM7 work with our environment

Galaxy Ace got cm7
i9003 deserves cm7
even my old samsung galaxy i5700 got cm7 :/

I tried attempting in doing what I can to get CM7 looked into, problem lies in, Even if we get 90% into completing it, Without a hacked/broken down kernel, there's no way we can enjoy the benefits.

I have seen 2 GT-I9003 installed in http://stats.cyanogenmod.com/.
I think someone trying to do.

[Q] ics ported for armv6

hi!!!!!!!!!!http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19469990#post19469990
http://aosp.mikegapinski.cba.pl/?page_id=14
in the above links you can see that ics have been ported to armv6 processor so i think with some hard work of the developers we can get it too
Very interesting! LG Optimus is also Armv6 & the screen shots, progress looks promising..hope someone like Marcellusbe or Hillbeast can look into this project..
For the Galaxy 3, I think it will be far more easier than CM7 because of all the work of marcellusbe (especially for the device config).
Even me, with my limited knowledge of device porting, managed to build AOSP ICS yesterday.
Check the CM7 development thread, Apollo and marcellusbe successful boot ICS.
very interresting, my wife has that phone hehe so ill keep an eye on that thread. thnx.
Dont know (yet) about aosp, but i gave a try to cm9, and it comes up with a lot of errors.
I'll try on with aosp today, see if it's easier to compile for the time...
Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dude
thanks ! Synching repo now...
I know marcellusbe and apollo (and maybe hillbeast too) successfully compiled it for our phone, but dont know if it's booting properly...

I tried both. But there are the same errors. (quite easy to fix though)
If you want I'll help you to fix them.
For AOSP, you have to modify a bit the device config before starting the compilation.
After, when you'll try to boot ICS, you'll need a custom kernel because BOOTCLASSPATH (in the init.rc) has changed. If you want, I'll upload my custom version of g3mod which supports ICS, GB and Froyo.
But I think we should move to the "official" thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361827&page=6
I fixed couple of errors on cm9 yesterday , but i wanted to try on aosp, see if it was cleaner !
Thanks a lot for your help, i accept with great pleasure.
I'd love to post in the dev section, but i've not reached the 10 posts limit, so i'm condemned to stay here a bit longer...
No worries, i'll come asap

you mean it works ?? if so you can release/upload a .tar file (odin) so we all can try c9 with ics... ,. and yupp ( cm9 = 100 X stock ics )
It needs a lot of fixes (i'm stuck at the audio part in aosp) before having something really usable.
Lots of people way more clever than i am are also working on that, so maybe someone will find a fix...

There are quite a few reasons we don't. Number one is that there is not a lot of interest in this device by developers. Gary right now is pretty much our only one and he has already said he eventually will get around to making ROMs but not right away. A few of us have the basic knowledge to maybe hack something together but without good kernels a lot of the hardware may or may not work, wifi for one. There are ways to get these things to work like porting over other devices kernels, but that is beyond most of us here. The 7.7's could be ported over as it has similar hardware and you could probably port over ICS from it too. You would need a good kernel developer who has the time to do it. On top of it Honeycomb isn't the easiest thing to make ROMs for, MIUI and CyanogenMod don't have Honeycomb versions. Once ICS drops we can use that kernel to at least try and port over MIUI 4 and CM9 but its still a lot of work and again having only one dev doesn't help. We will need a team effort to get a lot of it done.

It's not much, but I've started a device tree with some initial work on a CM9 port. If you've got a copy of CM9's repository, clone this repo into the device/samsung directory, then you'll be able to start working on building CM9: https://github.com/alanorth/device_samsung_galaxytab7p
Also, I have a kernel repo here: https://github.com/alanorth/samsung-kernel-p6200
And a collection of initramfs (including touch and non-touch ClockworkMod Recovery): https://github.com/alanorth/GT-P6200-initramfs
If you're at ALL interested in helping with development on this device (especially CM9), fork those repos and start experimenting with building/tweaking STOCK stuff first.
I'm more interested in trying to port over MIUI 4 (ICS version). Been reading up on how to do it but really need the ICS kernel for our device first before I will even attempt it. I pretty much feel confident I could at least get a bootable version up and running but as far as fixing things that are broken that would take a lot more than I might be able to handle on my own. Say if wifi is broken I'm not sure where to go to even start fixing it. I could hang out on the IRC channels to get answers but then this is just a part time interest of mine and not a career.
When will ICS come out? Come on Samsung.

Can I use this any of this for the GT-p210? Or is it GT-p200 specific only?
Edit: Nevermind I see that it's mostly device, android and vendor.mk stuff
To build ROMs we are going to need kernels, MIUI amd CM require an AOSP kernel which you can make following the instructions on the cyanogenmod wiki, it is way beyond me as I struggle with Linux in general. There are devs out there who only make kernels and maybe we could enlist their help in doing this.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Building_Kernel_from_source
Now according to cyanogenmod the wifi kernel is seperate and you need the drivers in order to fix it. And from what I understand the drivers for our device will not be released any time soon so this is going to be a real issue.
For porting over another touchwiz ROM we could use the stock kernel but you need the specific kernel for each version of android. Honeycomb kernels don't work with ICS or GB. But since there isn't much of a difference in the touchwiz ROMs between all the Galaxy Tabs why bother even doing this. Right now the only reason I see to try would be to get the 7.7 ICS ROM on our device but since we will be getting the upgrade soon anyways why bother. The upgrade will drop before you could ever get all the bugs worked out of it anyways in my opinion.
Here is the link for AOSP, explains all you need to set up a Linux PC to become a developer. An AOSP kernel will be critical to further development, right now all we could build would be an AOSP Honeycomb kernel as that is the only source code out. Samsung will eventually release the ICS kernel source sometime soon after ICS drops. I have a Linux box at home but I'm not very familar with it, also I think its the latest version which won't work. I really don't like working with Linux its a pain. I do everything in Windows using a virutal machine but should swtich over just because it what most devs use and its easier for them to help you if your on the same page so to speak.

Nice news! Every android device I had, I always found ROMs for. When I bought the P6200 I came here smiling and..... OOOPS no ROMS I was crying 'cuz I always had ONLY TO CHOOSE which one to flash with all my devices (such as Motorola Xoom or Galaxy Note)
I know this one doesn't pretty interest to devs or it has not much business (such as GS2 for example) but I hope we could see nice things soon (just 'cuz the worse thing is that for the old Tab 7...There're lots of ROMs :banghead: )
Let's wait so. And having MIUI here would be the best thing I ever had

Let's help ICS on SG Tab Plus

Hi everyone,
Althought i just have one post here , i been using this forum almost every day from the time i register for the first time...
Now i have got my Tab Plus, and i was disapointed about the "NO ICS YET" for this device.
I am no expert on android, but i want to ask something... can you use an HC kernel on ICS???
If so are we able to use that kernel with the HC wireless driver on and ICS release?
What about some developer boards from samsung? i have been looking at odroid but it runs a broadcom wireless card....
does anyone know if there is a diffrent manufactor that by miracle would have an atheros wireless card?
the CM porting is going well as i can see... lets bring shame on samasung developers, lets bring out ICS before they do... ahahahahh ( i mean an fully working ICS )
I know that is not an easy task!!!
NOTE: IF THIS TOPIC IS OUT OF PLACE PLEASE MOVE IT TO THE CORRECT ONE.
Thank you
Dude, if u decide to help, just try it by yourself, i think our first and only dev for porting cm9 *aorth* is doing everything possible to kick samsungs ass
Ive been following this thread since post 1 and iam so close to flash and help him! Its just the thing that i dont have another phone for work...

A poll had been made for Galaxy R on the CM forums itself. There were around 300-400 votes, even then no dev has shown interest in making a ROM for our device. I don't know where this is going to go unless some CM dev himself conducts a poll.

if we get good number of voters for our device we can atleast show them the count and request them, i am also not sure if they may or may not help us but just a try from our side .
I'm sorry but I am afraid nobody has ever ported CM just because a large army of users wanted it. It's kinda obvious that every android community desires a CM. From my experience... if devs are not interested by themselves even 10000 votes won't make them change their mind.
What can help is contacting some devs direct and donating phone (if they are willing to help).

Common man don't do that it doesn't help. At least help in getting some devs interested in developing CM 9 for Galaxy R instead.
I don't think anybody will be interested in lending his/her device for testing and risking possible brick. I guess donation thread is the only option. SGR is not that expensive today, plus it doesn't have to be a brand new and there are many users eagerly waiting for cm. Just make sure codeworkx will be actually working on it, cos right now he just said that without device there's nothing he can do, and it's not actually the same: "buy me a phone and I'll do it for you"

I thought S7500's was the same case as S5830's regarding the "L" thing...
In S5830L it means it's distributed in Latin America, but hardware is the same as S5830. The official CM for Galaxy Ace (cooper) is for S5830. I still have S5830L, installed CM on it and it worked. Only thing is, it changed the device name from S5830L to S5830. And also I asked that because since I live in Latin America the only Ace Plus I can get is S7500L.
Are you actually porting from Xperia instead of building?
And where can I find the S7500L kernel repository you ask?
thats change in build.prop u can make again L
and without kernel mods it may work on ur mob
So, if this ends working all, can you make one for S7500L? Or can I just use the current one one for L?

hey i said 100 times im releasing a rom based like xperia

its not cm10
cm10 later will take much time
update im taking a risk im gonna create a kernel that has posiibility to boot as well as brick
will update again in 2days
Since Mini 2 is running on the same chip, the kernel for Mini 2 is also compatible with Ace Plus. I just needs an updated defconfig.
Someone on Ace Plus do:
Code:
adb pull /proc/config.gz
Upload the file somewhere and post the link here. I will make a defconfig so you can build kernel.

noo
What "official sources" do you need in order for CM10 kernel to support overclocking? (I could use my time to look for it since I'm just a useless user....)
That'd be an almost imperative feature, and if you say "make it yourself and f*** off", well, sorry for not being developers like you (registration on this site should be restricted to dev-only...); or also that's why you *are* the devs and are announcing this possible work so we are indeed allowed to expect things from you...
Or, sorry for not being A D U L T devs like you. I can't express what I think about most of adults (most, not all) here because of the forum rules......
Thanks.

well overclocking is possible
we will look into it later first we are trying making kernel stable
and control yoour self
he asked will the 1st versio support oc
thats not possible because we want to boot perfectly (thats possible when we make a kernel with no tweaks and few mods)
