I just saw a tweet from Paul O'Brien about this...
http://android.modaco.com/topic/346319-htc-announces-the-htc-sensation-xe-with-beats-audio/
I currently have a Nexus S and was going to buy a Sensation today! I think I'll wait for this one now
It's also mentioned here: http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs...ash?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
"The HTC Sensation XE is the first handset to offer a Beats Audio experience - a combination of software & hardware that allows you to hear music the way the artist intended."
I'm wondering about the hardware changes. Do they mean new headphones?
If no other hardware is changed, I have a (wanabe) Sensation XE right now. LOL
EDIT: Software is almost here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253447
Hardware is the same, only 4gb internal ROM instead of 1.2gb. Ram, cpu, case, etc is the same. Cpu overclocked to 1.5Ghz. A one to one port should be perfectly possible I guess. Buy the XE case and larger battery and you have a Sensation XE . Adviceprice is 599euro.

dual core @ 1.5 GHz
http://ausdroid.net/2011/09/14/htc-...ats-audio-asia-pacific-launch-late-september/
The Sensation is UNDERCLOCKED to 1.2GHz, this new one is the same processor. Other than the Beats buds, red accents and a few other touches I don't see this as being a worthy upgrade
And when they say 'hardware' I'm going to assume the mean the buds and no actual phone changes
Are the Red highlights meant to be go faster stuff?
Here is the official HTC page for the device if anyone wants to see it.

I wouldn't mind a pair of those headphones

Oh yes. Sorry, I got so excited about this news I didn't search before posting
it's a load of crap, I don't even use my sensation to listen to music as the battery life is shockingly bad as it is. So I for one am not bothered about the new phone, I already own some monster turbine headphones which are better than Beats anyway. This is just a money spinning idea by HTC
I don't care for the announcement of the new phone, but if this new battery is backwards compatible with the original Sensation, I'm all over that.
I have HTC Sensation SSE All the things that XE has apart from red buttons, plus its faster, has better battery life, highly customizable, and I didn't have to pay extra for it. WIN.

I'm digging the headphones and red accents.
That is all.
Those beats headphones are terrible anyway, and I personally think the sound quality on the sensation is great anyway!

Bigger battery as well. They should up the ram, then it would look tempting.
No tmo bands oh well. Sgs2 here I come

LOL so they realized that the EVO 3D actually was compatible with the Sensation and threw that in!
If you already own a Sensation, there's not much reason for this upgrade. BUT, if you were looking to buy one soon (like me), then the XE is a more attractive proposition!
I personally can't wait to get one *stares at Nexus S in disgust*

The battery life is bad?? Mine's pretty dang good. It IS inconsistent but 20+ hours with 3+ hours of actual "screen on" time + some voice calls is pretty good, imo anyway.
Understand that you have to do a little management. I use Greenpower and wifi when available as well as an Anker 1900 Mah (unsure how accurate the 1900 is but it increased my batt life by 3 hours on average). I also use nobars because signal at work is pretty horrid (I work in a jail, lots of concrete and steel).

Ok I just got the Sensation and already own a DHD I am torn as to which one to keep. I love the Sensation but noticed the battery gets very hot compared to the DHD . I have read the forum and there is no solution to the hot battery yet.. So now I am torn between keeping the Sensation or the DHD. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
The sensation is dual core. Every dual core device gets a little bit warmer then single core devices.
If your hands are to soft to deal with it, change it back. ;-)
Btw. under normal use my sensation doesn't get really hot?!

I was playing a game on it when I noticed it. Did you get a different battery for yours? How do you like it so far?
In games that's a absolute normal behavior.
I ordered the chichitec 1900mah but it's not there yet.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk
Yes games will make it much hotter than under normal use because of the fact that they use much more power. As for battery life it is worse than most single core phone because of the fact that you have more to power. The ability to flash custom roms to the device will enable much more optimized roms. This will "hopefully" make batteries drain slower. Also if you look in the accessories section you will see a lot of suggestions on different batteries.

I had a Desire HD since release date and it was a great phone (best i've ever had) but then i won a Sensation from HTC Australia, so i thought i might as well use the newer phone and sell the DHD (which i've gotta do soon).
After using my Sensation for about 2 weeks , i'd have to say it is definitely a better phone. It's faster, has a brighter (& higher res) screen, the batter has been lasting longer and feels better in my hands. Although the DHD is still an awesome phone with heaps of great feature.
If i was you i'd keep the Sensation and sell the DHD. Unless you need the extra money then sell the Sensation & keep your DHD

Thanks I will take a read through.
The Desire HD is still a capable and modern phone. If you have any issues with the Sensation then I would say return it. You can always get it again later on (or get any other, newer phone to come out in that time). You might even be able to score a better price if you purchase it later. So, again, if you have an issue with the Sensation now, then return it and buy it again later, especially when development matures a bit.
If you can't return your Sensation and have to sell it as used instead, then I say just keep the Sensation.

Thanks the sensation is actually brand new just got it unlocked and played a game on it to check the battery heating issue issue I was reading on it.
Get the Anker 1900 mAh battery for sensation from ebay for $10 and it doesn't get hot like the htc battery.

Here are some deciding factors for me:
Battery life (i want at least a day)
CM7/stock rom support - how is it? CM7 on my vibrant kills battery life and isn't smooth (the framerate is locked at 50 I think and scrolling logic is kinda weird)
Support from htc (official updates)
Sense (I have never used sense, I had a g1 and have a vibrant. How is it? Is it worth the cpu/ram usage)
Build quality - does the phone creak at all? Does it feel good in the hand?
I'm debating jumping on this phone or waiting it out with my vibrant. (I HATE touchwiz, and CM7's battery life hit makes it a no go) Any advice?
Just wait for sensation beats
Beyond the sound quality , there is some manufacturing problems in the current sensation, for example dust underneath screen
They may fix in this second generation of sensation
It feels good in the hand otherwise and sense interface is great

Now that I currently own one. I would honestly say wait. I'm dissatisfied with it.
the Sense , gets slow when you get a lot of widgets on your screen. Sense freezes and restarts after accessing the market. etc.
I am happy with the phone quality, however reception could be better.
I have 2 ANKER batteries for it and sometimes one of them won't last me a whole day.
Also when i type in portrait mode, the keyboard keeps hiding itself if i type to fast.
Photos are good but not fantastic. My Galaxy S took better pictures and it didn't have and LED.
i see no difference between my old Galaxy S (Vibrant 3g) and 1.2ghz dual core in the Sensation. You can see it in the quadrant scores but not on a day to day usage.
my 2 cents
If you are on Tmobile, HTC amaze and sgs2 are coming on Oct 12th. So better to wait and check them out instead of buying sensation now.

Will this be considered an upgrade?
Only you guys know how is the dev section with the sensation (i love roms, so want a phone that gives me flexibility on that)
Thanks
If you want good dev support, I say get a nexus s. (Or stay with the g2x, idk what the scene is like on that particular device) I got one for that very reason and I haven't looked back since. What it really comes down to is whether you like sense or not. If you have even the slightest disdain for it, I say don't get the sensation. Most of the best roms are sense based and IMO the aosp rooms are pretty lacking as of right now. If sense is your thing, go for it. Though, I will warn you, the screen on the sensation is of considerably lower quality than the g2x. Don't let the resolution fool you, the pixel densities of the two screens are pretty similar. And the sensation has a low quality tn panel while the g2x has a decent ips panel.

Thinking of coming from my old Galaxy S to a HTC Sensation. But there seems no forums for this device ! Can I use the ROMS here on the XE or not? I know it may be biased but there pretty much the same and I prefer the look of the XE plus those Earphones and sound! Is it worth the money to go for the XE model? and where can I find a forum to flash and root ect
Thanks

Hi,
The two phones are essentially the same in the hardware department.
You can get all the information in this forum.
You can flash the same ROMS . S-off and root is done the same way HERE.
Whether or not you should spend the extra on the XE,only you can decide to fall for HTC's outrageous marketing scam.
You get a larger battery and a excellent pair of headphones. Keep that in mind

the XE is overpriced and by the looks of things the normal
sensation can be overclocked and preform the same if better!

IMHO the difference between the Sensation and Sensation XE is just the urBeats earbuds, ROM, battery and the battery cover - all swappable!
Where I am, the XE is now coming right down in price, to the level where it might be cheaper to buy the XE and sell off the urBeats earbuds, if money's really tight.
Otherwise, the regular Sensation is probably easier and cheaper to buy upfront and you can get the white Sensation XE with Beats battery cover if you like it, plus higher capacity battery etc when required.
These forums are great since we can get feedback on batteries, vendors etc and usually find the good upgrades.
I have the Sensation, white XE with Beats battery cover and am hoping to get it onto a reliable beta ICS ROM (once usable, HW accelerated and not crashy).
Let us know what you get!
I have a Sensation z710e - perfect condition/original box, flashed with ARHD rom to become an XE. Must admit the integrated music player is a bonus of the XE rom.
PM a price if your keen.

Agreed, the phones sound quality is pretty hot, and who can turn down a higher capacity battery with the voltage it's going to crank out...
XEbeats to be customised
If I'm correct in saying, HTC Sensation XE, the most powerful smartphone in the United Kingdom? However I keep having a blip when watching things on the internet and read certain reviews. I'm almost every single benchmarking test, the GSII gives the Sensation a run for its money.
Now I own a Sensation XE, and I'm a proud owner. However when using my friends GSII I must admit that the fluidity of the system seems much better than on the Sensation. I get the feeling that maybe HTC Sense 3.0 was built to a level that actually surpasses the ability of the Sensation's hardware. If you very very slowly switch from a home screen on a stock Sense Rom you will notice that the animation isn't actually that smooth.
Now it's all good saying 'go and install a custom ROM if you have performance complaints' and all that, but that isn't the point. I don't have a performance issue at all, I just want to know why a device with supposedly equal and less power than my phone, actually bets it in most places. If the GSII can do it on a stock ROM, why can't my Sensation do it?
I've been told that despite the GSII having 1GB of RAM and the Sensation only having 768MB that this should not make a difference.
In quadrant tests, the GSII gets around 6000-7000, the Sensation gets 2500 where as the Sensation XE gets anywhere from 2500-3000. There must be a reason for these numbers?
SENSATION IS BETTER THAN GSII THOUGH!
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using XDA App
the SGS2 is faster, thats the end of it, HTC SENSE kills the phone. By the way quadrant scores mean nothing, antutu and cf are the ones you should be using.
I've also HEARD the the sgs2's teltra processors are just better and that it is always using both processors wheras the Sensation (xe) doesnt always.
It's all HTC SENSE'S fault, if you look at touchwiz, youd easily be able to see why it runs so much quicker.
Benchmarks is lying. The sensation have twice as many pixels, a.k.a they require more power it run.

The Sensation has 35% more Pixels actually.
The GPU in the SG2 is probably better, its not limited by single channel LPDDR2 like ours. But CPU wise they are very similar considering the architectural differences between the scorpion core and the custom A9 in the Exynos. I still like to think ours is the best

Both handsets are really fast, it all boils down to personal choice really.. I played around with an SGS2 for a week and I just hate the way touchwiz or Stock Android roms display the information to me i.e dialer, widgets etc...
HTC sense on the other hand has a lot of eye candy and like I said (its personal choice) it just looks really sexy!!
No Sense = nonsense
If you like the Stock Android feel then SGS2 is the way to go .
If you like sense and want to have a stock Android rom on the sensation from time to time then Sensation it is...
Oh and the sensation running at 1.5ghz is da bomb!
I agree with this!
Thanks for the replies.

TouchWiz looks Cheap and ugly compared to sense.
If you upgrade, you will lack build quallity. Size is too big. Bad camera. Lower resolution. In trade for speed
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE using xda premium
TouchWiz is cheap and ugly? Just like the SGSII, I think the Sensation XE looks beautiful when it's in crisp light with IRS red lights at the bottom off, the curved glass causes a beautiful reflection around the edge of the device and it really is extremely beautiful!

I tested both devices.
The thing that eventually decided which phone I went with was just how it felt in my hand.
The second I touched the SGSII it felt cheap and plasticy. That I had to be really careful not to break it. And it was not very durable at all.
Just felt like really really cheap material and also looked that way.
The sensation on the other hand feels a lot better - a lot more solid. It has some weight to it. The quality of the materials used just seems a lot nicer.

Whats faster ASOP GSII or ASOP Sensation? this way its fair to judge
At the moment, it would be SGSII I'm guessing, but that isn't a fair way to judge. TouchWiz ROM's are very close to AOSP anyway, Sense is completely modified. Most AOSP ROM's will still have bits of Sense left in because they simply cannot be removed.
