Proximity sensor adjustment?

Hey guys I have the CoreDroid non Gingerbread rom, and noticed that I practically need to have the top of the phone touching my head in order for it to keep the screen off. So if I tilt the phone any which way I will end up either hanging up or pressing any number of buttons. Is there an app or setting I can change to increase the sensitivity of the proximity sensor? I noticed I did not have this problem with the stock rom. Thanks guys.

I was told by HTC that the proximity sensor was a hardware issue..hence the reason for my replacement - I didn't look into it really..
So there is a fix for it using an app? What if it doesn't work period - is it a hardware issue?

For anybody following this thread who also found that the above link is dead, this one may help you. It's a proximity adjuster app, so you can use it to set which levels you want to have the screen react at.

[Q] Proximity and light sensor not working.

I`ve been looking everywhere to find a solution but didn`t found one. To be more precise, both sensors (proximity and light) work occasionally,sometimes they work just fine and then suddenly stop working.
I`m using Andro Sensor to check the sensors and there is "Waiting for event" message for both light and proximity.
I don`t think it`s a hardware problem as they were working when bought the phone and they still work occasionally.My phone is rooted and i`m on latest ARHD now with Sebastian kernel.Maybe someone knows how to fix this as it`s very annoying (automatic brightness and capacitive backlights not working because of this as well).Any help would be much appreciated.

I contacted htc and they wanted me to send it in for repair. But they said it may be due to water dammage. (I never gave my phone near water and the sticker under the battery is still white.) The rep told ne if it is due to water damage it may be expensive to fix. What I'm gonna do is just pay the 130$ deductable to my insurance company and get a new one.

Haven't thought of any solutions yet but every now and then it will fix its self. But fails soon after.

do your capacitive buttons light up as well ? or is it just the sensor thats the problem ??.

They light up only if i`m forcing them with LeeDroid Twekas mod or when the sensors work again.But when the light sensor is not working they will light.

Yep why i ask is because it happens to me also exact same problem, i had a temp work around with ICS 3.6 roms with putting tinfoil or something under the shell and covering the sensor, this would present a low light signal to the sensor and some how enable the capacitive lights but still ****s the sensor and or proximity.
Sometimes it will work depending on the boot, it will either work on boot or not never changes while the rom is running.
Now i must try the leedroid tweeks as i can stand my capacitives not working but yes must be a widespread problem if people are having the exact same issues.
found it, bummer its for 3.6 only.

I have the exact same problem as you described, but since 6 months. It really sucks to pay 430€ (~650$) for a device which isn't working as it should. I don't want to send my phone to repair and wait for it 3 weeks. So I have to cope with it.
That's a plus for the S3 to be my next phone.

It`s very frustrating as it`s an known HTC issues and no one can do anything about it.To send it back and wait forever it`s ridiculous.

Thats why i refrained from sending it myself, i need a phone cant expect us to wait and wait for a repair. Should be a straight swap for being a known issue.

Sadly this is my thought as well. And I was a huge htc fan. I used to boast how good the phone is / was but now it starting to feel more of a burden.
My issues
1. Proximity / ambient light sensor doesn't work properly anymore.
2. Usb stopped working? Wtf still charges though
3. Design flaws. (Ok this used to be one of the phones biggest assets. But going through 3 back covers because the stupid volume buttons keep breaking is crazy.)
4. The tinny sound when you are recording video.
5. The blutooth stacks don't allow connection with the ps3 or Wii controllers.
Hate to turn this into a rant.... :banghead:

Why I'm going with the insurance way rather than htc. Those MFs told me that I have to pay for both shipping and recieving, plus is if there is any sort of damage outside of what they cover its gonna cost me starting around 85$ or something like that. Than it may take a few days to get it back to me.
While I can just pay like $140 and have a new phone in like 2 days.

what are you claiming it as, accidental damage etc ??. With my insurance company i would have to get proof of the damage via a qualified technician and get a certificate from him.

My insurance company is asurion and I filed my claim online. I think I clicked malfunction or accidental damage don't really remember did the filing a couple days ago. All I have to do is send that to old phone, and they will send me a new one.

Tried everything,and yes it depends on boot.
Try to do factory reset in TOTAL dark.
It worked till next boot...
I think i maybe got it after Sebastian kernel ?
Still puzzeling....

And same problem here with ARHD 6.5.3 XE...
Maybe later I'll try super wipe and different kernel (I got sebastian's currently).
EDIT:
In AndroSensor I got "waiting for event" instead of "failed to start". Someone knows what it means?

with faux123 kernel instead of SebastianFM kernel and everything is working just fine so far!
Flash faux123 kernel and give it a try and report here please.

Same here.Very disappointing as at seems there is no solution for this issue.

Screen problems and a few doubts.

Hey, I have a bit of a problem. My screen is acting weird, clicking randomly or just not responding at all sometimes. The only way to fix it is to lock and unlock my screen. Sometimes, even that doesn't work. I also noticed a dead pixel on my screen. It's not very visible but annoying nonetheless.
Sometimes, after a call, my phone just stops responding, and I need to keep the power button pressed to restart it.
What could be reason for these problems? Also, I still have my warranty left. Would the service centre people be willing to fix an issue such as this?
I'm in college right now and won't be able to give it for service for another week. I'm not sure if parts are still available for our device. :/
Also, any news on the official India ICS update? I've been waiting for a while now, checking the forum every few hours for an update or a stable CM build. I know it devs can do it. Can't wait for it.
PS: Any news of epsy? He's been gone for a while now.
Sorry about so many questions. I'm just curious and kind of confused.

it may b a software bug too... which rom r u using n r u rooted ??
chk wid ur scratchgaurd too
dead pixel r covered in warranty so plz rush to ssc..

definately software bug specially with indian gb rom.. recomend you to flash neo 3 rom or move to ics

@ both persons above; thanks - I myself am facing some problems mentioned in OP (post-call phone dies, sometimes touch is unresponsive and have to lock/unlock screen, slight pixel problem) - and even my phone's warranty runs until Jan 2013.
I'll visit a service center ASAP (possibly this weekend if it's open or next week) and get it sorted.

may be its about your fingers huh? if u touch the screen with sweated or wet fingers, messaging is going to be nightmare
my advice is cleaning your screen with a clean and wet linen or cotton material, and then with a dry one.
also have a high quality screen protecter film.
if u have already tried this and the prob still occours, thats something that i dont have any idea

btw, i avoid using my phone with sweaty or wet hands, and since wiping the screen doesn't help, that's probably not it.
I think the screen guard might be the culprit after all. I've been thinking of changing it for a while now. any suggestions on which one to get?

actually it happens when we use incompatible or cheap charger
try using samsung Original charger
it works perfect
i am using it
and avoid plugging your charger where electricity fluctuates i mean voltage fluctuation

Wild touchscreen, automatic touches
same here!! I had put the "show touches" option in Developer Settings to ON and then i found out that sudden series of automatic 'touches' appear on the left part of the screen...vertically along the length of the phone...starting approximately from the left edge of the earpiece section. This is really scaring the **** out of me. PS: the phone was neither charging nor connected to PC. These sudden surges of quick automatic touches occur suddenly out of nowhere and causes havoc by opening & selecting unnecessary menus & options...
Someone please help!

Facing wild touch problem
I m too facing the wild touching problem. When i first encountered it , i tried all means of solving but no use. i also flashed the original 4.0.4 firmware which came in phone default. but still facing the problem. Suggest me.some fix.

electro-magnetic radiation.... avoid charging near any electonic device..A.C,TV,etc

I had a similar problem. I was told at the service center that it is because of sweat or water on the finger tips. After a few weeks display became corrupted. This was not covered under warranty and had to be paid for (Rs. 2200/-). Now 1 month after changing display, touch has become non responsive. This was happening in cold climes only(Bangalore) or when I spent the night in a A/C room. Used to correct itself on exposure to sunlight for 10-15 mins. Today I took it to the service center and he fixed it so that touch stopped working all together. Now I'll have to send it for replacement which will take 25-30 working days. Should never have bought Mmx. Cheap Chinese rebranded stuff.

{SOLVED}
Put a velvet cloth on top of canvas2 for 5 TO 10 minutes
swipe the phone using it..It will remove the static energy...

This is a charging problem and there is nothing to worry about..
Solution- cover the touchscreen with a velvet cloth for some time
This will help discharge the screen and the problem will be solved

Well, all i can say is that you simply flash the original mmx rom....any one...ics or jb....and head to the service centre, n get your display changed.
BTW, i still have NOT got my device back, i'll keep you guys posted on whenever i get it back.

2. Low quality screen Guard
3. Screen Guard expired
Solution
Change power charger [if now solved] Remove screen Guard
I faced both issues with my canvas 2 and solved by above method.

Ghost Touches

Hi all,
On my moto G3 , I have been receiving annoying ghost touches every now and then on my phone when browsing XDA on Chrome . I looked into the issues further and downloaded a ghost touch tester, which displays different patterns. On a few of the patterns, the ghost touches start to happen . Could this be the start of the end of my moto g ??
I tried resetting, flashing stock rom , virtually everything
except removing my tempered glass screen protector.
Is this bug here for everyone ?? by the way , the app I used was Ghost Touch Tester, and its the one with the 4 arrows pointing in Pattern 6 seems to mess up when swiping around. if someone could test it on their moto g , they would be amazing !

Are you talking about when scrolling or swiping something and the phone occasionally recognizes it as a tap, or something else? Happens to most of use from time to time, often in Chrome and Google+, have just kind of gotten used to it I guess... It has been noted by many people that the G does this sometimes.

Thanks man , when I'm in chrome , it will just open the notification bar etc a few times and random swipe. on pattern 6 on the app I said, it does it a lot a lot more. can you try testing the app I mentioned please. Sorry if I am becoming a bother :/ , I just wanted to isolate the issue

I have tested the app and found on pattern 3 there were ghost touches.

I tried tons of taps on each pattern, occasionally I would see a ghost touch on a few of the patterns, but it was pretty rare... On the patterns that it would occur, maybe 1 ghost touch for every 30-40 random taps, that concerned me a bit so I had tried the app on my son's Huawei Ascend Mate 2 and interestingly the results were the same with occasional ghost touches here and there. Also tried it on a Samsung Galaxy S5, nothing on that one, couldn't get a single ghost touch to register.
Not sure what all that means, if anything... Is that what you wanted to know?

Hmm... Tried it, really don't see an issue with swiping (not sure I would really if the touch is occurring under the swipe) but the Swipe registers as touch/tap occasionally us kind of common on the G3.

Yes, that's how the test works... I'm not sure how valid this test is though, it's designed to show a very specific "flaw" in the 2nd Gen Nexus 7, which actually turned out later to be a software bug that was fixed.

Same issue + bump! BTW, for me it's only on Marshmallow ROM!

I'm getting this since the MM update and it's made a good phone a terrible phone. I'm on a Moto G2 2GB/16GB. Factory reset did not help whatsoever.

Even i have the same issue.. my phone starts touching here and there by its own

remove screen protector.
solve problem.
replace screen protector.
