What colors does the shift notification led suport?
Posted by Mr. Z's Epic 4G Touch+Keyboard
Not sure what the question is. The screen and resolution is actually very good. So is the picture quality.
The blinking notification led light is was he's talking about. Or I think so.
I don't know the answer to the question though.

That is correct.
I know it has a redish/orangish one, and a green one, but does it support other colors? I have an Epic 4G, and it only supports Blue, Red, and Magenta. But my brother has a shift, and wants to know.

Oh ok. I have seen yellow on one occasion. I'm sure of it, because I freaked. Did't know what it was. Still haven't figured out what it was.

thanks.
Nexus 1 maybe.......Nexus S no.

Not a chance in hell. My brother has a mt4g and its nothing compared to the nexus s.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with that trade. I recently traded a 1 day old black and white myTouch 4g for my Nexus S. Both phones are great devices.
In my opinion the Nexus S is a little over hyped. There are two things that I find that makes the Nexus S a winner over the myTouch and that's the Samoled screen and Android updates.
Who really uses NFC? No external SD, no 720p, browser is kind of laggy while playing flash content, no 4g, 512mb of ram, no led (I am aware that there's an app that solves this issue)
I KNOW IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH I HATE THE NEXUS S, BUT TRUST ME I DONT. IF I DID ID EASILY SWITCH BACK TO THE MYTOUCH 4g.
I GUESS ITS ALL ABOUT USER PREFERENCE. THE NEXUS S WINS ME OVER BECAUSE OF THE SCREEN, ITS A VERY LIGHT FEELING DEVICE, CAPACITIVE BUTTONS AND THE UPDATES STRAIGHT FROM GOOGLE.
EDIT: IF YOU WANT ANDROID 2.3.3 YOU CAN EASILY ROOT AND TURN THE MYTOUCH 4G INTO A NEXUS S.
I HAD CM7 ON MY OLD MYTOUCH 4G AND IT RAN SMOOTHLY.

Sorry for the caps, but like I say its all about user preference. I always make decisions on a product by watching a few YouTube videos and by reading about it.

As in the little LED notification light that lets you know if you have an email, sms or something without having to turn on the screen.
Personally I haven't missed that feature at all ... my phone makes a noise when one arrives, and if I want to deal with it there and then then I will. If I forget then next time I unlock the phone there are notifications in the notifications tray.
Anyway, as poster said - there are apps that can give you that kind of functionality if you miss it.

Thank you for answering the post. The NS isn't a bad phone like I say, also keep in fact that the mytouch 4g isn't a bad phone either. Its just as fast, and even faster when overclocked to 1.8ghz (although that doesn't matter since no one will keep the phone running at 1.8ghz for more than a few minutes to an hour or 2).
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Just the name "MyTouch" and the ugly looks make it inferior to the NS.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong....but are you saying that you're giving him a Nexus S PLUS $75 for a myTouch 4g?
If so, hell no! Maybe the other way around, but not a Nexus plus money for a freakin' myTouch.

He's saying that he's getting $75 in the deal. I honestly don't know why everyone hates the myTouch so much. Lets be honest, what makes the Nexus S so much greater than the myTouch 4g? Is it the screen or the NFC chip? As far as software comes into play, the myTouch 4g can easily be installed with 2.3.3 and it works flawlessly. The myTouch 4g is slightly greater than the Nexus S if you guys take the time out to do some research.
EDIT: This is not meant to be a rant or meant to bash the Nexus S. I love my Nexus S. I'm just speaking fact.

SK4G is unsupported both by devs and Samsung. Aren't you guys still stuck with Froyo or something? Either way even if you get GB you'll never see anything past GB unless you get CM9, which is highly unlikely.
MT4G has awesome Sense ROM's, a solid MIUI ROM, and a very stable CM7 ROM with CM9 looking within weeks.

I actually traded my sk4g for a Mytouch and its completely with it. Yes a keyboard its nice but there's no development, and the Mytouch has a bigger screen and typing/swyping is a lot easier that on the sidekick screen.

Getting a Mytouch 4G for a Sidekick 4G is like getting an Audi for Kia (I don't specifically have anything against Kia, but I doubt anyone will argue that a Kia is a better car than an Audi). Don't ask questions. TRADE! Trade and run before your friend realizes their mistake.
I played with a Sidekick 4G for a few minutes and it was a joke. Minus a physical keyboard a Mytouch 4G is better in every way.

Oh ok. What kind of android phone does have led colors?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Alot of them too many to list. But if you have at&t and want lte but need led's probobly best to go wih the htc vivid or lg nitro.... i love the skyrocket much better. But if you have to have leds then its not the device for you
Atrix I know for sure. Different colored leds for notifications and a very good phone and is supported by cyanogenmod.
The atrix is ok. But definately the vivid and nitro are better. They have the same cpu/gpu as the skyrocket, and also lte
Yeah I like Samsung brand. I have AT&T Infuse 4g. I just thought led color would be nice. But if no led color on this phone. I can live without it since there are apps that can do vibrate repeater like GO SMS. Etc...
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
In that case you will love the skyrocket. Its an amazing device. Arguably the best overall
If rooted, you can set it up so your four bottom lights flash if you get an email or missed text messages.

Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
The infuse doesn't have LTE but is a nice phone from what I've read.
There is an app called BLN control. It will allow your 4 bottom buttons to act as an indicator when you have a message etc. However I think that, the rom you run must support this. Works great on SGSII
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Skyrocket has 1.5 ghz dual core processor. 1 gig ram. Lte
---------- Post added at 09:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:39 PM ----------
It also get android 4.0 icecream sandwich update in q1 of 2012. Basically its more then twice as fast as the infuse. Hardware wise. And on lte i can get over 60 mbps download speed. Where as the infuse youd be lucky to get 10 on hspa+
So its best phone out there?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Yes in my oppinion that and the origional gs2 and galaxy note are tied for the best
Having come from an Infuse to a Skyrocket I can say I am quite pleased. I felt familiar with the device but everything seems to be a notch above on the Skyrocket. Animations are smoother, build quality is more solid, battery life is better (unless you use LTE).
There is no LED but if you are comfortable rooting and flashing you can set up BLN which is awesome.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Yeah the sale person at AT&T said that phone is best than other android phones. I am not sure to switch from infuse to skyrocket yet. Maybe wait til spring or summer for better one. Who knows.

possibly. i remember, a year back, people were comparing samoled screens and their slight differences. some even would pick out nexus s based on the color tone of the screen before they bought them.
OLED displays are prone to being biased toward certain colours. Material quality may have something to do with it but i don't know enough about the manufacturing to say. As the lifetimes of the different coloured subpixels are very different, they degrade at different rates and this can change the hue. Blue's die the quickest and often there is a larger blue subpixel to compensate for this.
From what i've seen from numerous people with SGS2s, they need manual colour correction and possibly a few times a year. Some are overly blue, some overly green/yellow. This changes with time too. I quite like it while looking at photos or videos, but the lack of a true white annoys me. This is why supercurio has been / is working on better colour control for OLED displays for android, these issues can certainly be compensated for.

Are you sure both are running exactly the same software (ROM, kernel + voodoo settings if any)?
Obviously there is small differences between displays but it shouldn't be too terrible.
Positive, blues are the most noticeable. One seems to display blues as more of a grey.

I just installed the matrix kernel with the voodoo colors hack and it makes a huge difference on the one and no difference on the other. Its crazy there's that much difference between them.
