Just got my XOOM and I'm ready to get started on customizing it. I've already rooted and now I'm looking at custom roms/kernels and was hoping I could get some feedback. What's out there? What are must haves?
I'm currently on 3.2, I'm just not sure what to make of all the options.
CWM 3.2 Recovery +Tiamat xoom rom 2.2 moray = fantastic
enable usb otg
built in tiamat setting incl. overclock 1.7ghz - pls dont set on boot
boot animation changed
etc.....

I recently rooted my TF101 using Razorclaw root and installed clockwerk recovery. I have a B70 tablet that wont use NVflash so im assuming i have the SBK2. I tried to install a kernel and kept booting with a very distorted screen and i couldnt do anything. My question is: is my TF bricked? Does flashing a custom kernel not work on the TFs with the newer SBK's or can my processor not handle being overclocked that high. Because i believe it was a 1.8Ghz kernel that i flashed. I fixed it by pulling out the stock kernel from a rom and flashed that in recovery. Just wondering what's going on here.
Could be your TF not able to handle the 1.8Ghz. Did you install any app to manage
the frequencies, ect.... I use SetCPU but there's other apps that does it.
Make sure it's set to about 1Ghz first before flashing the OC kernel.
After which you can increase it slowly
Well it wouldnt even boot to the lock screen and the screen was all distorted. I dont know if its set at 1.8 right when it boots or lower. or maybe a bad download. but i didnt even have a chance to unlock the thing.
Are you still on the stock but rooted ROM? If so it's probably not compatible with a OC kernel.
im not sure what the problem is. because now, i tried to do custom roms again and im on revolver with a 1.6Ghz overclock and having no problems at all.
kernel flashing problems
I have had the same thing with a couple different kernels. I found some various kernel source trees on git for TF101 and tried rebuilding them and cross-compiling on my Ubuntu system. Most of the time it works fine but there were a couple that when I tried to flash them all I got was a screen full of snowy colored lines, kind of like the snow on an old color TV and could hear some weird 'spacey' sounds coming from it but it wouldn't boot any further. I don't know if these sources were for projects working on ICS or if they were trying to modify source from some other device or what the deal was, but those 2 wouldn't boot.
Sorry for yet another "now what" question, but...
I rooted my A500 using the Blackthund3r one-click. I didn't check a box (that was unreadable) that I believe had something to do with recovery...
Anyway, now it's rooted, has SuperUser and Titanium Backup installed. Android ver 4.0.3; Kernel ver 2.6.39.4+; Image ver Acer_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1; Build# Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1
The question is - what is this good for now? Apparently I can't overclock until someone cooks a custom kernel and I still can't install apps to SD. On top of that, it actually seems a little glitchy now with screen anomalies and random hangups.
I'm using the stock rom... would doing a recovery backup, wiping and installing a custom rom at least allow me overclocking? Or any performance gain?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Hello, i recently bought an asus transformer and ive rooted it and installed a custom rom well today i had problems with it bootlooping into recovery well i fixed that now for some reason my wifi wont turn on it just says turning on wifi and doesnt do anything so what im wanting to do is fastory restore and unroot the device so i can start fresh can anyone point me into the right direction to do so? Thanks.

You can Nvflash a stock ROM, but Guevor's kernel will also fix your wifi issues. Don't use ROM manager, it causes bootloops. Also try a different ROM (which did you flash), and you must get the CM9/AOKP based kernel to get wifi to work on an AOSP ROM. (See megatron version in guevor's thread)
Hi all, bit of help if you can please.
Just bought a XOOM Wifi 32GB 2nd hand and it has come with JB on it and I know nothing about rooting/flashing the Xoom and want to revert to stock ICS, then learn how to do it.
Details are
Android version 4.1.1
Kernel 2.6.39.4-Eos3-g91a0873
Build No Eos JR003L Nightly 135
It has clockwork recovery 3.2.0.0 on it which I can get into via recovery but if I do the power off and volume down in gets stuck in fastboot
It has a app on it called goomanager but no idea what to do next and works fine but I would really like to stop beeing a noob and get this back to latest stock ICS, root it and then go from there - is there an easy instruction on how to do this (with explanations of each step etc)?
Many thanks
Simon

i want to overclock my asus tf101
i am running Revolver 421 based with android version 4.03

so please can someone provide me with some current overclock tools.
would be realy helpfull guyz,
thnx
Flash KatKiss (Android KitKat 4.4.2) and it has the overclockable Kernel and Overclock settings built in

Make sure you are running TWRP Recovery before flashing KatKiss ROMs or JellyBean ROMs though

thnx for the replay but i dont see this as a solution, i just want to have revolver rom but with a overclockable possibilities, i already tried katkiss and i dont like it.
i tried to flash this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565519 V22.6 and was able to overclock with succes but usb mount wont work.
each time i plug in the tf101 in my laptop, i get a notifcation on my tablet (USB debuging conected) when i unselect this through the seting menu, nothing happens.
anny solution ? i also tried V21 but the same problem with usb mount

If the ROM doesn't come with an overclockable kernel already, you'll have to find a compatible one
Once you have the correct Kernel installed, grab SetCPU or similar from Google Play to overclock the CPU
Those ROMs are so old now I don't know which ones contain OC kernels and which ones don't, which was why I suggested KatKiss
Check the ROMs main thread for what is included / which Kernel it contains

No idea about the USB problem, maybe is an issue with the ROM / Kernel you've flashed - these ROMs don't have much / any support now
If you want to keep using it, then your best bet is to start reading through that ROMs thread and see if there is a solution in there or hope that someone else can remember / or is still using the same ROM
yeah i dont think it has to do something with how old that rom is, cuz i know revolver did allot of updates to ensure quality roms, and from the kernel link i shared there was a guy who was on revolver 1.3.1 who did not have any problems at all on the first page at the bottom you can read that.
everything works fine for me like the wifi, charging except the mounting of the device to a pc -_-
I mean because of the age of the ROM, you're going to struggle to find any answers to problems you have with it
