Ring back tones on Nexus S 4G? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My wife has a Nexus S 4G with Sprint. The music plus app is not available. Does anyone know how we can get ring back tones on that device?

Isn't this a carrier feature rather than a phone feature?

I thought that is a lame Verizon feature?

It is a carrier feature I think its 5$ a month extra on sprint

I tend to agree on the lame part (I hate being subjected to someone else's music choices involuntarily), but try not to judge. I'm pretty sure a majority of carriers offer this, since it's another way to part subscribers from money.

I just remember when Verizon first got the service and everybody started using it. I wanted to throw my phone every time I called a Verizon customer!

Yes. It's a carrier feature and lame as hell. Makes me want to punch the person I'm calling.

Im all for this merger, I mean we can only win here.
Way better coverage and a larger selection of phones.
The only problem I see is price agreement.

Price and data and customer service! I pay enough already and at&t is tight with their data. At least tmo gives us 5gb before throttling
I do agree with your opinion on coverage but is it worth all the bs...hmmmm

1) the company who care least about Androids just bought the company who cares the most
2) pricing, data plans, and overages
3) them forcing us to a) buy new phone b) living on EDGE.

you've got me lost.
The only up thing we will have in this merger is coverage. they say that they will honor our current contract, which may be true. But as soon as we go to upgrade we'll be forced into a ATT branded contract with higher fees, lower data caps. The only way i see around this is totally going to suck. Once our contract runs up we will be on a month to month basis with ATT. So we'll have to buy our phone @ full price to avoid the renewal of a contract. That is going to be a worse case situation, but it's still early.
I referred to the first problem off the three than you mentioned the company who care least will buy the one who care most and we all know than att his first top phone is the iPhone and now with the rumors of the iPhone 5 that just gonna blowup the att market

you're right, why should people with a t-mobile mytouch 4g talk about t-mobile in the mytouch 4g section of xda forums. makes no sense. much better that it's discussed in the general where the majority of people don't even have contracts with t-mobile.

Because the mytouch 4g is the only T-Mobile phone, I'm sorry I must've forgotten that. And I also forgot that this would basically monopolize the us gsm network market. Not that that would affect anyone.

In the long run it will affect us.
They are wanting the AWS band that we use for their LTE network. Since our radio are programed for HSPA/HSPA+ they will not work with the LTE network. So yes it does affect us.
But they do have a valid point their are SEVERAL threads on this already. it is getting kind of old. And Facebook petitions add up to nothing. Heck real petitions do not mean anything any more.
there are question threads in the general section, general threads in the questions section, ROM questions in the themes and apps section. I just find it absolutely ridiculous that someone tries to do something positive (no matter how futile anyone deems it to be) and catches heat for it. Of all the misplaced, misdirected threads in the MT4G section, THIS one gets targeted? Come on.
and i know it affects us. it was a rhetorical question.

I second this, great price every month, tho verizon with my company discount is honestly about the same, but the 3G/4G was terrible, and everyone trying to sell me that in home cell module thing, that only helps phone calls, because it would fix my "4G" and therefor I shouldn't leave them. Left them same day for a Thunderbolt with verizon, and in there survey asking why I left, I explained that every employee I talked to was a moron.
Did I also mention I had a Sprint "Manager" start cursing me out because I called him an idiot for telling me the only way I can get 4G is to have my phone off for about 12 hours straight every day?
seriously the worst provider ever. AT&T was better than Sprint, and I told them that

No Galaxy S II in America?

I envision a world where Apple fights competition through their products and not in the court room. But, alas, today is not that day.

Maybe they should create a phone that can actually compete with new android devices like the Evo 3d, now thats competition! In America "Competition means good business."

At&t is supposed to be getting it. But it doesnt look like there is any s2 branded for tmobile, or at least that supports tmobile AWS bands. You can order one unlocked and put your tmboile sim in it, but it will only work for voice and 2g/edge data. Even with that limitation...ive been thinking of buying one anyways, or the single core at&t infuse 4g and just unlock it and put my sim in it and live with the 2G data. Dont think i have the balls to live with 2g tho.
On another note, im guessing Tmobile USA isnt getting it because of the Hercules thats supposed to be released in September which is supposed the be like the s2 on steroids. lol.
I need to buy something new. The fact there are much more powerful phones out there even though i love my gs4g...is killing me softly...lol

They bent over backwards for Apple because they have been kicking themselves since they passed on the iPhone the first time. They saw the chance to steal a big amount of AT&T iPhone users and jumped. Now if they actually stole a lot of AT&T iPhone users is a different matter. I don't think they stole that many so far. I think when the next iPhone comes out, they will see a big influx.

I said what I said because Verizon changed their closed ways for a iphone... Not sure why they wouldn't do it for an Android phone. The nexus phones are sellers as well and if they really want to take away users from all carriers (not just at&t) they need to have one in their line up.
They will be able to take advantage of having the fastest network (while they still can) with a 4G nexus phone.
Talk about killing it! They would rape the competition having an iPhone and a 4G nexus phone.
The time is now if they are smart.

No ISIS for you!

Just found out that ISIS is not compatible with the Verizon Galaxy S3! How stupid can you be, their top selling phone next to the iPhone and you are starting off a service by not making a top phone compatible? Who ever is in charge of ISIS should be fired.
It is possible to do as TMobile has made it possible. Instead Verizon has terrible phones that basically no one buys available to the service.
Just disgusts me.

All you need is a new SIM.
i called the local verizon store here and they said no, the S3 will not work with the new sim yet. Are you guys hearing something different?
Yet another example of the stupidity, fragmentation and stuff that doesn't work in Android. The carriers decide how to squeeze every last dollar out of users, Google doesn't bother to enforce anything and only cares about Nexus, oem's ignore Android standards.
Just watch while next year Apple comes out with its own branded NFC system and everyone will fall over backwards trying to support it. Then we can whine and moan about how 'Android did it years ago' while Apple will get a patent, millions of users overnight, and become the standard.
Apparently the only Verizon phone to support it is the Droid Incredible 4G LTE.

Yup. I'm really getting tired of Verizon being a dictatorship. THEY say what we get. Even though I plunk down $600+ for a new phone, or $200-$300 if it's an upgrade, (I can't use a phone for 2 years, I get bored) I don't get to use it the way I want to. Ridiculous.
To the people who aren't happy on Verizon, why not pay your eft or wait until your contract ends and leave to another carrier?
While you may see them as a dictatorship it was your decision to sign a contract with them. Research is key and living with your decisions, good or bad, is a part of life. We ultimately are to blame.

Well for some of us there is no good alternative to Verizon. We had AT&T since the first car phone came out. I had full service when I owned the original RAZR and we didn't even have 2g just regular whatever service. Then they upgraded the towers after Cingular was bought by AT&T and service got so bad that we had one bar inside but if we wanted to make a call we had to step outside on the porch. Then when 3g came we didn't have ANY service whatsoever in a mile radius. So for some of us we aren't there aren't any viable alternatives.
Plus Verizon has better service than any other provider I have ever been with, they are just dictators with their phones.

Nothing has been set in stone. A friend of mine explained the reason the S3 isn't working yet is that the firmware needs to be updated to use the newer sim system to allow ISIS to work (due to the LTE hardware that Samsung uses).
I expect this will be resolved shortly. As of right now ISIS is still in testing phases anyways. Verizon invested a lot of money in ISIS. It's in their best interest to get it working.

I didn't say you couldn't be tired of their bs. I'm not always thrilled with them either, but that's true with almost all companies. But when people throw around words like "dictatorship" and the like, it's extreme to say the least.
All I'm saying is at the end of the day we choose what we choose. We take the good and the bad with it.
Complaining about stuff like this is comparable to me buying a Hummer and then complaining that it has bad mpg.
