[Q] Stuck in Hboot, S-ON, no Rom, no Recovery - HTC Desire S

Ok, I did something really stupid although I knew that it might have consequences. I s-offed via Revolutionary and flashed a new rom. Then I noticed that my phone, that I just got back today from repair, wasn't able to pull down the status bar.
After installing a Test App, I realized that the new phone had a failure and needs to get back to repair...and then the failure happend.
My phone is branded t-mobile and I tried the "how to s-off version from here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187231 ), although it noticed that it is for non-branded phones. Just wanted to get back to something "normal"
Well, after using the RUU for TMO_DE (I'm from germany) there was a error message that it wasn't the right RUU version, and got me back to hboot.
And here is my problem: Now my hboot is s-on (0.98.0000) and everything is deleted (recovery, rom) and I have no idea what to do....did I brick my desire s now? is there any chance to put it back to life, aside from hboot?
Thanks a lot in advance, and sorry for my english...

English fine.
First question? What exactly does HBOOT screen say? are you S-OFF still?
If you can put device into HBOOT then you can put it into FASTBOOT
So Connect PC via USB and run a RUU that you want on phone

Thx,
no, that is the problem, i am s-on now, it exactly:

SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.98.0000
RADIO-3805.06.02.03_M
eMMC-boot
MAR 10 2011, 14:58_38
RUU isn't working...it starts fine, but always quits with error 131 (user Id error) and says i should get the right RUU
Any other ideas?

Which RUU did you try.....full name?
you could try this one (or is that the one you just did try?)
RUU_Saga_TMO_DE_1.30.111.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_3 8.03.02.11_M_release

I tried:
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.080 5U_38.03.02.11_M_release
RUU_Saga_TMO_DE_1.30.111.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_3 8.03.02.11_M_release
and
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085 AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed
The only difference using the TMO RUU is, that the error is 140, not 131...but the error message is the same.

I had the same problem with s-on and everything else deleted. Send phone to warranty service and when phone came back, they said they had to replace phone's mothearboard. It's impossible to do something else to make it work

That sounds like a good idea, as it's now s-on they'll have no evidence that you did anything wrong, unless of course you admit it
Swyped from HTC Desire S using XDA Premium

Ok thanks, I already guessed that this might be the last solution.
I'll report back if they made it under "warranty" (and if not, what the price was I had to pay )

Ok I was at the t-mobile shop, and they said it will be replaced under warranty, I should come back tomorrow to get my new desire s. (I'm not sure if it really will be there tomorrow, but at least in a few days)

That's excellent news.... <fingers crossed>

Ok, I got my new Desire S today, replaced under warranty, everything fine now I guess I won't do any strange experiments now, but I guess I can't keep my fingers from rooting it and replacing the stock rom with custom.
Anyways, thanks a lot guys

[Q] Returning to s-on gone bad!

Hi there guys,
I have tried to s-on my phone using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187231. The phone was s-off with alpharev before. My Setup is in my sign:
Everything was fine untill I got to the flash RUU part.
The Ruu i want to flash is RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.080 5U_38.03.02.11_M_release
At about 10% or so it stops and says something about a error 170. Then nothing..
Now my phone is stuck in this bootloader:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL (The good thing is that it is s-on now :Op)
HBOOT-0.98.0000
RADIO-3805.06.02.03_M
eMMC-boot
I cant do anything from here, what ever I do it just reboots and gives me the same bootloader screen.
I have tried to run the RUU.exe like 3 times now, and no luck.
Really hope someone can help me with this one, Im in a bit of a pickle!
Regards,
Safi
hmm... after posting this I tryed to run this RUU:
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085 AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed
And i think it fixed things.. ill report back..
if "eMMC-boot" thats good sign.
hm... Got the phone running again, but im not able to update to the news sense OTA, so ill see if i can get it in another way..
Mods please move this thread to the Q&A section.

You may know this already, but the MOD's never really read this forum the only was to get an action is to either PM them (smokestack76) or use the report button which is at the top right corner (triangle with exclamation mark) of each post when viewed in thread mode...this will enable you to fill in a report which is always acted on!
I know m8, it was just a reply to Skanob. Was a bit wierd out by his silly post. And I still got some problems with the phone, but the main thing is fixed, and I can use it.

If you're returning it to STOCK then you use the one it came with. However, if you're not sending it back to TMOUS (which I don't think you are) then you could just flash the EU 1.50.401.1 RUU

Hello,
I'm a complete noob.
My sensation 4G has decided to stop working. (HTC start up screen loops) I sent my phone to HTC but they want to take all my money. Phone repair guy says it just needs new software update, but wont do it for me. SO Ive tried flashing ROMs but it seems I dont have the correct ones. Some have CID error, some have MID error. Is this the right thing to do?
I really need to find a ROM that is compatible with my phone. I dont need anything fancy, just one that will let me text people and maybe even make a call. :crying:
I have unlocked using HTC dev.

MID PG5811000
I dont know if this info helps.
Does anybody have any idea what I can do to get this thing working again?
Thanks

Thanks for the response.
Yes I installed 4EXT recovery and can get into it. I have tried following some guides to get S-OFF but they always fail. Which S-OFF method should I use?
pohh Maybe you should try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195902 for me worked as a charm hope for you as well try searching some guide how to flash custom ROM you should use a SSD memory card reader, and you should try to find a guide to install e recovery app something like that " http://www.xda-developers.com/android/super-utility-for-the-htc-sensation-4g-and-xe/ " " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668276 " have a try and hope will go everything toa good end

Broken digitzer

Hello!
In the last week or so I've noticed my touchscreen doing weird things like pressing where it wants and annoying me with that. So, as this didn't stop with change of ROM, I asked around and got a verdict of a broken digitizer.
Okay, no problem. I started to Google and found out that replacing it is very expensive [ atleast in Latvia ] so I naturally thought of warranty service.
But here comes the problem: As I am on XDA, I am a ROM flasher [ addicted to it, kind of ] and I know that voids my warranty. I called an independent service and they told me: even if I revert to everything stock, they will still be able to see that I have flashed my ROM and lose mywarranty anyway.
I have SuperCID, S-OFF, ICS ARHD 6.6.5. - the max I could have.
Is this true or is there a method to return to stock everything?
I found this thread, where there are Pyramid STOCK ROM's. They have different firmwares and radios, I guess I would have to choose the first one as it is the oldest.
I also read the [Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on, will it be enough to get me through the warranty process ow will it say ***Re locked***?
not true. if you return everything to stock they won't know and you can claim your warranty.
follow this "For Warranty Purposes/Returns:Follow Step 4 below for removing Clockwork and Root
FOLLOW STEP 5 TO CHANGE BACK TO S-ON - CONFIRMED TO BE WORKING- USE WITH CAUTION"
HERE:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
I've read through this method, after rebranding, will the bootloader say ***Re locked*** because I've read in the forums that this could happen and still void my warranty.

yup as long as it says ***Re locked*** you have no warranty
Is there any way to avoid it saying that or is it inevitable?

Yes. If you are currently S Off then just refer point 3 of this guide to RUUs: www.tinyurl.com/RUUGuide.
If you are already S On, then you need to S Off again, to make sure your bootloader doesn't say *Relocked*
If you have any questions, come to the IRC, link in signature pic.
S-ON RL
Hey!
I'm back with the results.
I ran into some problems the first time I got going with it but a little searching answered my questions.
Basically what I did:
1) Flash 1.17.0008 firmware Link
2) Installed [any] GB ROM.
3) Installed RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.3_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_192183_signed Link
4) S-ON'ed Link
5) Changed CID to HTC__001 Link
Now the Bootloader screen says:
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.17.0008
eMMC-boot
May 13 2011.21:04:57
Is this what it should say or can the warranty service tell that I've messed around with my phone?

Go to the bootloader screen.
Power off. Remove, then re-insert battery.
Hold volume down + power button.
Ok, ne Relocked message, I'm in the clear.
But I also noticed that my problem with the digitizer has disappeard [ caugh, caugh ]. Could this happen?

Yup! You can try going back to custom ROMs. Maybe you may not face any problems now.
So, a little update.
Warranty took my phone.
As they say: We reinstalled the software [ legal ICS, yay! ] and recalibrated the touchscreen, put it through testing and gave it back to me.
Everything sounds legit and I was excited getting my phone back.
After 5 minutes of use, I experience the same problems I had before the warranty service.
So, I'll be giving the phone back to warranty.
Another question: How to make a nandroid backup of an unrooted phone?

[Q][HELP] HTC Sensation XE Boot Loop problem

I have a HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio that is currently locked into a boot loop cycle.
Before you all start telling me to look at this thread, or that thread, I KNOW that this problem has been on here before, and I have spent the last 2 days reading through what has been posted, with no success.
I am not a modder, I do not want to ROOT my phone, turn S-OFF, or unlock the bootloader. I have had this model of phone and been perfectly happy with it for over a year. Unfortunately my first handset had a touchscreen issue, so I sent it back to HTC (YES! I do realise what a huge mistake that was, NOW!! I don't need any more reminders) They sent me back another handset, but not without first beginning a very acrimonious relationship with me. The handset that they sent crashed, (I had only had it 2 days and hadn't done more with it than just put my contacts and music on it) it then entered a boot loop where it would load as far as the 'Quietly Brilliant', and sometimes the start of the 'Beats Audio' logo, then beep at me and try again. The first time this happened I pulled the battery, and left the device for about 30 mins and when I put it back together it worked. 2 days later it did the same thing and has never recovered.
I can get into the bootloader, and it displays:

I have spent the last 2 days scouring this forum and trying to get my phone to work again.
I don't want to modify my phone, but will if that's what it takes. The problems I have found it that most methods require me to 'Enable USB Debugging' or install CWM Recovery on my phone, which I can't do, or to unlock my HBOOT using HTCDev, which given that you need to register with HTC to use DEV and my current opinion of that company, is not happening, also from what I have read about the procedure I can't do it anyway, because I can't get into my phone.
The other problem I have encountered is in trying to enter recovery mode from bootloader, which gives me the green loading icon, then a red triangle, and nothing else.
I will admit to my absolute noobdom when it comes to this, and if I'm perfectly honest I would be happier if I had remained ignorant. I just want somebody to show me how I can get my phone to work again.
Thanks
Baz

Hi ,

Does that mean my phone is already S-OFF ?

Hi ,
I was trying to root and install a custom rom on my htc sensation. I did dev-unlock as instructed in
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
after this it says its unlocked and it shows the the below information in my boot menu.
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.0000
RADIO 11.22.3504.07_M
Does that mean my phone is already S-OFF ?
Or do I need to follow the instruction as explained in the below thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631
the below thread says, if the phone menu shows the below one its S-OFF. But in my phone it doesnt show S-OFF at the highlighted (in red) part

It seems that your phone was shipped as S-OFF. It's quite rare, but it does happen. Just flash recovery and treat your phone as S-Off.

Once you have a custom recovery installed you can, yes. It will be super easy.
Getting S-Off is the hard part. Since you already have it, it's an easy road for you.

Hi,
I installed a Custom ROM . Its working great. Thanks a lot for the support.
I had bought this mobile from grey market so is it possible that this phone was a used one as it was already S-OFF when I bought it ?

It is possible, but there are also phones that were shipped as S-Off. You can know if your phone was used befor by removing the back cover, after some use it tends to collect some dust. Replacing the back cover itself is easy and it makes the phone look new. However, if your phone functions properly, there is absolutely no problem.
Enjoy your new Sensation
