[Q] Back to stock rom - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Is there a way to return a stock rom?
I found a guide, but its says:
Before starting - Look at your serial number on the bottom of your tablet. If your device is B70 or greater then do not use this tool. Asus has changed the secure boot key, rendering this utility useless for newer tablets. The good news is that the guys over at Android.Mobi are working to update it to support your devices. Check back often for updates.

My serial number starts with B70 but I already have a rooted and a Revolver Rom, is it posible to use this guide?
O existe otro forma de hacerlo?

If you have already rooted you should be fine to use this!

if you have successfully roooted your B70 then you should be safe to use NVFlash to return to stock. it means your tablet is still using the old SBK that the current version of NVFlash uses.
mine is B70 too and i have flashed countless times successfully.

[Q] Unable to Root New Asus Transformer

I tried using the method in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104
Several questions:
I'm in the US and the box said Android US ... updated to build 8.6.5.9 Honeycomb 3.2
Does this mean I should use the US (8.6.5.9) v6.3 rootkit? What do TW, TB, and WW refer to? The box lists the letters WW after the wifi info... do I have WW or US?
I see people refer to B60, B70 sometimes being unable to root... where is this identification? My (Model?/Serial?) number begins with B80 . Does this mean I have model B80?
Regarding the details of my failure... I have the NVIDEA USB drivers installed, and when running the script, I DO confirm ADB is running -- it sees and reports my device. However pressing 1, which is supposed to upload a bootloader and then backup my image fails immediately... the nvflash command fails.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I have a model B80 which is unrootable?
Any help, links or pointers would be greatly appreciated. (BTW, rooting my HTC Incredible was extremely fast and painless... was hoping for a similar experience)
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I have USB debugging turned on
Well, it seems Asus started manufacturing their Transformers with some sort of "lock" beginning with production batches starting with serial N° B70. You claim that yours is B80, so its pretty likely that at this time you can't flash yours until someone comes with a solution.

[Q] Am i lock into 3.2?

some help is required please, i have had my old pad replaced due to a faulty switch and that was rooted etc. I now have a new pad that did an OTA update to Build Number HTJ85B.WW_epad-8.6.5.9-20110816 but i find it a little laggy. I want to root and put a custom rom on it but i can't seem to get it into APX mode to root it or get it to downgrade to 3.1 any ideas as to what i'm doing wrong.I've also read that i may be lock into 3.2 firmware so i can't downgrade even if i want. Help please.
I don't think you can downgrade anymore. You should be able to use NVFLash with the exception of some B70 and newer tab.
what is the beginning of your serial number?
the sn is b40kAS0136** so i should be ok as only b70 pads seem to be unrootable

Yeah you should be able to do the NVFLash
Yes, use nvflash with images of a custom rom from either of the following:

[q] tf101 update? Razorclaw?

Hello there, I recently got a tf101 from a friend.(I am new to the device)
it's on v8.6.5.9 I checked for updates and it says none found, what.
I hear you can use razorclaw and root your device without a pc which is good because i believe connecting the divece to a pc is too much work.
How to update to a version supported by razorclaw, I tried usingthe app and it gives me a message saying I do not have the files needed. How to?

RazorClaw need .19 firmware (HC)
The firmware you need is not on Asus website but there's a 8.6.6.19 (originally for 3g model)
floating around that you could use

Not 3g model but is there a big difference?
and do you happen to know what thread I may find it on, I tried searching for it and so much irrelevant threads.
Nvm, got it. thnx.
Here's the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417006
the firmware is for a 3G model but will flash on a wifi only model.
The main thing is so you'll be able to use RazorClaw to root, install CWM
and can flash any rooted ROM you like up to the current ICS.
With a firmware that old you might have an SBKv1 tf
so another option is NVFlash if the above don't work.
(Serial # began with B60 or previous (some B70)) is nvflashable

bought tablet, and now?

Hello folks,
Just bought the TF300T Tablet yesterday.
It came with Android 4.1.1 preinstalled
Kernel 3.1.10 from Nov 22 21:27:42
Build No: JR003C.WW_epad-10.4.2.18-20121122
I read through many threads about rooting but i have some questions remaining:
How do i find out if my bootloader is already the JB-one which can't stay locked to root the device?
I mean that i can't use nvflash.
At the beginning i want to stay at stock rom, only rooted for removing ads purposes
After what i have read i only have the following options:
a) Install the already offered update to 4.2.1 and use Asus Bootloader Unlock V8. (don't want to unlock)
b) Stay on 4.1.1 and Use Unlock V7 (don't want to unlock)
c) update to 4.2.1 wait if i can root without unlook bootloader sometime
So if anybody haven't an other option i choose to update and wait. am i correct?
Thanks :good:
Now there is no option to get your installed or newer versions to be rooted without unlocking the device.
All your options are correct.
Well your on 4.1.1 which is jellybean so you do have the jellybean bootloader and nvflash is not possible. The only way to root your tablet will require an unlock and custom recovery.

I'd suggest you to keep it stock for some time, so you would avoid some hw failures and warranty problems. I am happy enough with it, it's not perfect but ... nothing is
Proud owner of an ASUS TF300T stock and the "old faithful" SGS i9000 powered by AndroSlim
Since latest update it runs smooth enough
I chosed option a) and updated the tablet. After flashing Asus v8 apk i get struck with correct install of twrp recovery.
I don't see any files. I downloaded the official file from their homepage and read that there is a patched one in a thread.
gonna try this one this evening.
cleanROM is working on a very nice stock ROM with tweaks which is something you might want to consider if you decide to unlock

Unlock tool: "Failed to unlock device"

... please try again later
What should i do??

Nice, but neither google or forums are answering for my specific error message.
One more question, how to get back the stock firmware once i have modified my version by changing config files, moving dns servers off google, removed everythin smelling on google etc.?
One more thing, which might prove usefull to the EU users:
http://matija.suklje.name/rooting-and-flashing-your-device-does-not-void-the-warranty-in-eu
Bottom line, rooting / modifying the device cant void warrenty unless Asus would PROVE that the user action is the reason for the defect on the device. Also reversing is permitted in EU if the reason is interoperability, regardless of user agreement forced to you by the software / hardware creator.

I ran into this same problem when I unlocked my tablet recently. I found that if I downgraded to Android 4.1.1, firmware version 10.4.4.20, and used the version 7 unlock tool, everything worked like it should. The firmware can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946456
And I used the method here to downgrade:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833212
I hope this helps.
Thanks goes to Pretoriano80 for compiling the downgrade method and keeping track of the older firmware!

Followed this, and it worked for me as well. But this wasn't before contacting ASUS to state that the device wasn't unlocking, and them claiming that their system already shows my device as "Unlocked and rooted" despite the fact it was nether?
(Thought that the last bit was worth of note as well...since prior to even unlocking my warranty was/is void)
In my case it turned out they had replaced the serial number of the device with the one of the dock. That had happened while the tablet was rma'd fot repair the last summer.
I banged my head to the wall for two weeks before noticing the error. The tablet had to be sent back to rma. Asus corrected the serial, andd then the unlock worked after couple tries.
It was tough....
