Anker vs. Evo 3d - HTC Sensation

Okay just to let buyers know, the evolution 3d does not last as long as the anker battery. I have both and used both for a week, I would say theres a 15% difference. If I get the chance ill do a video run down test, but my hypothesis to this is the fact that the Anker produces so much less heat. Its ridiculous how much heat comes out of the OEM batteries

You know, I was thinking exactly the same thing about the heat.
Ive seen the tests where the anker holds around 13% more charge than the htc battery, then I see posts were people get up to 30% longer use out their phone using the anker. After using the anker I can confirm the phone feels a lot cooler during heavy use. These type of batteries discharge quicker if they get too hot, so it makes sense that it should perform better than its capacity compared to the stock battery if it keeps a lot cooler.
Cheers

Agreed, I wish the OEM batteries were built from the same materials. The over heating causes the battery to burn more when doing every day tasks. Cause I'm sure people by now know that a battery running at 35C will deplete faster than a battery running at 25C. I am looking into the Mugen 3D battery. THe problem I have with the anker is that it messes with my vibration, but no one else seems to have this problem. WHen I say messes with it, the size difference causes the phone to vibrate weirdly.

I have heard reports that the EVO 3d battery runs cooler actually and runs longer, but Im not sure what to think, id say the difference could not be as high as 15%. I have the anker and it runs great, I decided to buy the EVO 3d battery aswell, from a reputable dealer, and ill give it a go and see, im just checking for heat differences.

I dont get how the battery is operating at a high temp ? , when my phone says battery at 35C or more if you take the case off its not the battery thats hot its the phone under the sim and memory card ? is it just me ?
i think its suggestable that when the phone gets hot its the heavy use thats running the battery down and not the heat as the battery (in my phone anyway) has maybe only changed by a degree or so
i dunno this is just something thats been bugging me whether it is the battery or is the the processor ....

I agree, even when feeling the back of the phone cover when its hot it feels like the heat is mainly lower down the back of the phone than where the battery is positioned. However, If its mainly the processor thats getting hot and not the battery, why does the Anker battery make the phone feel cooler compared to using the stock battery? ...Hmmm, could it be beacuse the Anker battery is metal its acting as a kind of heat sink for the phone? ... keeping it cooler.
Cheers

this thing is damn confusing me so much... I have to choose between Anker and Eco 3D battery...
I just have a concept that Anker will not give much charge cycles compared to Eco 3D battery

what do you guys say? evo 3d or Anker?

I agree with you on this

It is the battery heating up when using an EVO battery. The Anker does run cooler for some reason. The Anker does not report temperature, the EVO battery does however. The Anker is actually a 1700mah and the EVO is supposed to be a 1730mah but I have not tested it to confirm it. I will probably do this in a couple days to see if it does in fact hold as much as the Anker because I personally prefer OEM to aftermarket when it comes to batteries. Heat or not.

I'll be waiting........

I use the Chichitec battery and it runs great. It does not get nearly as hot as with the original Sensation battery but I know for a fact that it can't go through as many cycles.
I got the two batteries and the charger for $30. I used one battery more frequently and discharged with every new ROM I flashed. I found over time that battery #2 (I labelled them) was not holding a charge as long as #1 which I'd discharged fewer times.
As such, I don't discharge my batteries anymore after reading that these kind of batteries have actually gone through a cycle when it's below 50% and complete discharging is bad for its life. Overall, I get more battery life out of these batteries than the stock batteries.

its already got the Battery power for it. i always find it funny how high powered phones like the Mytouch 4G and G2 have great processor speeds, but lower mAh batteries. Im getting amazing battery life on my Optimus T with 3g turned off and music playing all day. its currently 12 hours into the day and im still at 85% battery life.
gotta love this phone.

Good to know. For me personally, I just charge my phone in my car while i drive to work (putting it at 100%), use it all day (down to 70-80%), then charge in my car on the way home, (bringing it back to 90-95%). leaving it idle at night with 3G off and Wifi on leaves the battery almost untouched.
This seems to work much better on this phone than on my Mytouch 3G. that phone cant last even half a day on a single charge, So I dont know if this good battery life has to do with LG making the phone consume power in a certain way, but whatever the reason, I'm having a great time with it.

I bought 2 batteries rated 1500mAh and a charger on ebay for $10. I just could not justify paying $47 for the 1800mAh battery.
gadgets N gizmos website has a 3000maH battery. i have one and it rawks.. Thats all i can say
hmmm i checked ebay and all other possible sources and couldnt find any 3000maH battery for optimus One. Maybe you have battery for Optimus S? and this battery goes with new back cover because battery is alot bigger. Can you confirm that battery back cover from LG Optimus S is the same one on LG Optimus One? Because mugenpower with 1800 maH battery is way to expensive.TY

Larger capacity batteries

Has anyone tried one of these yet ? I have seen 1900mah ones on ebay but wonder if they really give you anything more over the stock battery.
Becareful they might be dangerous for your phone
I have seen someone complaning about over voltage. 1900mAh seems like a good option but it should be reliable as well.

got just about 16 hours hours from an Ecell 1900mah battery, I had screen brightness on more or less full capacity and Wifi enabled for around approximately 4 and a half hours before I disabled wifi and reduced screen brightness down to just above a quarter. Used the phone for browsing, 10-12 minute phone call, 25 mins of game play throughout the day which included samurai vengeance THD (ten minutes), N64oid emulator (FZERO and MarioKart) and and one full game of real football in 3D. Sent out a couple of texts and downloaded three apps.

I've found that the 1900 battery gives you roughly around four and half extra hours than the 1500 battery. Reducing display brightness to just over a quarter and having wifi disabled along with moderate use of the phone will easily get you through the day with the 1900 battery. Have not seen any adverse effects from using the battery such as overheating either.

Has anyone used any Apps that claim to report battery capacity?
I have Battery Monitor Widget which claims the battery is only holding 1200mAh when on the battery it claims it should be 1500mAh.
I am dubious about its accuracy though as it doesn't seem able to report how much the battery is currently draining, although that should be more hardware specific than reading the battery capacity I would think?
It is kinda odd though as the first 15% seems to drain really fast and then it gets slower. I have literally seen it go from 100% to 96% in a few minutes doing nothing particularly taxing. Yet it can easily run for many hours web browsing with screen brightness on auto.
what is the widget called as mine drains very fast i have lost 16% in 2HRS 33. which is crazy.
Could using different launchers have a effect i wonder, this is a great phone but this sort of battery drain is plain crazy.
Edit . just found the one you mention and it says mine is a 1200 also , would be interesting to see if its accurate on a different phone.
It just seems odd that I can have it fully charged, go to bed with airplane mode on and its still down to 85% when I wake up despite nothing obvious using any CPU power. The big battery drain is always Android System, in fact I think that is ALWAYS the case even if I sit with the screen on which I always got the impression the screen was meant to be the biggest power drain on phones?
If I go to bed without airplane mode on its pretty much identical, which doesn't seem right at all considering it would be connected to WiFi and HSDPA (data mode off).
That said in ACTUAL use it seemed to last me a days use quite well. I'm just a bit puzzled that the widget claims the battery is not what its supposed to be and that the phone is showing as losing the first 20% really fast.
Don't get me wrong, the overall battery life to 0 seems not too bad, I am just concerned that perhaps there is something I can do to improve it further.

This external charger is good. I am using one. I use it for charging PSP as well.
It can charge 2 phones at same time. I tried the following combinations:
htc desire + aria, sgs + aria, 2x sgs, sgs+o3d..
one of the port is 1A, so it just feels like charging the phone off a normal charger. One this thou, this thing is heavy light a phone
if you are having short battery life check in the applications menu to see what apps are still running cuz i discovered the hard way that sometimes when you exit a 3d game the game doesnt actually quit and just sits in the background eating up 65% of your battery life. nova seems to be bad for it.

Aftermarket Batteries

has anyone tried any of the aftermarket batteries, whether it be from a store, ebay, amazon, etc.
I ordered a 2200mah battery for my Infuse off ebay for $8.
I am going to try that out and see if I get anymore life out of it.
I would have gotten the 3500mah battery, but I use an otterbox and I dont think it would fit since it has the bigger cover to hold the bigger battery.
I work in a metal forging plant, so I have to use an otterbox for my work... so it is a must have if I want my phone to last.
I did order a 3500mah battery for my wifes Samsung Captivate.. She doesn't really use/need a case. I got that off ebay as well.. for about the same price.
I hope her phone lasts longer, because she can't even get a day out of it... hers is rooted running MIUI.

I just got one of them 3500 batteries from amazon and its a solid battery, it wont fit on the case because i have the Otterbox case and cant use it with this, but you can definitely tell the difference in how long it lasts, and the case fits on the back of the phone great it has tabs and snaps right in. I use this battery when i am at home using wifi or alot of power on my phone and use the Samsung battery when i leave. Great investment for $10 but when you have the case on the phone it won't do you no good.

Getting a larger battery will help, but there's a lot of ways you can manage your phone's power consumption to dramatically increase your battery's life.
Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510745
All I've done is use the power management program Juice Defender (on extreme setting, so data is off unless I toggle it on), not use a live wallpaper, and use a Gingerbread ROM (R3VELATION). With light to moderate use I get about a day of life, and if I took further steps I could even get more out of my battery than that.
EDIT: Whoops, you're the same poster as here, so it looks like the new larger capacity battery has solved your battery problems. I'll just leave this post up here anyway since it might help others.
Would the bigger battery cause it to overheat? or damage the phone in anyway?

Came in here to ask the same question about aftermarket batteries...was thinking about buying the OEM one off ATT site for $30 because I don't see an official aftermarket battery and i'm not sure I want to buy a $10 aftermarket off of amazon or ebay because of stories I hear about cheap China made batteries exploding or damaging the phone in some way
I just placed an order for this.....
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SGH-i...BMJ8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1332809949&sr=8-2
The description doesn't say so but all the reviews say it comes with an OEM battery along with the charger...great deal for $30 in my opinion if it is all OEM
The thing I've read about these batteries is they don't have a shelf life. Meaning as soon as they are made they start to depreciate. Then they sell the old ones on e bay, amazon at reduced prices as they don't last as long as a freshly hot off the press battery.
I have never had any luck in buying a extra mha rating battery, having it last an extra long time. I got Chinese 2500mah it don't last that long, and then I went and got a high capacity gold 2430mah it only last as long as a 1750mah , rather I have no idea how long normal is, as I got my infuse at a pawn shop used, battery last about 5-6 hours, normal usage, but what is normal? What is the basis of comparison? I mostly use it for movies, and wifi and, angry birds which eat my battery up.
My theory is the more you pay the younger they are, a 4 dollar batter last less then a 10th dollar battery. But I don't have the monies to buy every battery in all the price ranges to test and do all that techy stuff. To me it is just a grip shoot. Hit or miss.

All batteries age during use.
Aging factors are temperature and also voltage.
I think temperature is well known but I don't hear as many people talk about voltage.
Charging your phone to 100% and leaving it on the charger encourages aging.
Some of the cheapo's are not as resistant to aging as the stock batteries. Common story is they work fine for the first day or two and then start to noticeably lose capacity. I noticed that when I tried out the Fujei battery.
Adding to the whole mess as you alluded... evaluating battery life quantitatively is not an easy deal. My usage varies every day.
I get a rough feeling when my battery life is fading but it's subtle.
Battery Monitor Widget has a feature where it estimates your actual 100% battery capacity in milli-Amp-hours (1750 = factory spec but actual will be different and will decrease over time as the battery ages). I think that if you use BMW and allow your phone an uninterrupted charge from low voltage like 20% up to 100% (without using the phone during that period), then it will develop a pretty good estimate of your battery 100% milli-amp-hour capacity (because our phone does have a charging current monitor which BMW accesses, but it does not have a battery discharge current monitor). That's a lot of work, but probably not a bad thing to do once a month to keep track of your capacity so you'd see a trend like 1750 one month, 1700 the next month, etc. I might start doing that some day..
3500mAh Battery
It's been a week, and my battery life is going UP. I plugged in today, and at 1931 hrs today, I still had 61% of my battery life left. I have not had any appreciable decline in battery life, nor reduction in longivity. With the stock battery, my phone is completely dead by 1715. I unplug daily at 0800. My battery life has easily doubled by purchasing a no-name battery from an Ebay seller. I'm quite impressed with it, and I spent $80 on an extended battery when I had my TP2.
Has anyone try those 2500 mah batteries from ebay? I am interest in buying those since they are only 4 USD each. What do you guys think?

don't let the battery charging over night . about a 3 hr and 30 mins to 4 hr will do.
i have a 1500 mA battery . it last me about a 1 with heavy use .( temple run , music , pandora , gps , text , photos , and reading )
Never try to let you batteries run completely dead. This will shorten the life of Li-Ion batteries. And feel free to let your batteries charge over night. When the battery gets charged fully the charging will stop or slow as needed. They will not overcharge. The charging systems of phones have their own regulation. Not sure where previous poster got his info. Guess his phone still uses NiCads.

( maybe is the app)
with a 3 hour charge , i get about a day use out of the cell phone . letting the battery died the first three time you put it in the phone , i was told by th rep of the company that sold me the item , like i said before i get pretty good battery life , even with heavy use , now that temple run is in android . even more fun ..
Not that its a huge improvement over 1850 but the best I've seen for the inspire are 2000mAh, I just kept searching on ebay in 100 mAh increments until I got no results.

Sadly there are no "real" extended batteries for the inspire, they all have exaggerated
ratings, and the Powerskin is an external battery/case and I like my otterbox to much
to use it.

Has anyone tried the monoprice usb battery packs? Thinking of picking one up but need to think of some other stuff to get with it first to justify the shipping.

cool i'll have to pick one up
Be extra careful were you buy your extended life batteries from.. i ordered two and got what i paid for... they were 1850mAh which did last about 4 hours longer then the original but which one my camera didnt work... Said something to the tune of "Cannot use flash in cold weather conditions"... When i saw this for the first time i was like WTF its 80 degrees outside... then i changed batteries again and it worked... obviously something wrong in the battery.
It i probably worth spending a little more money on the battery to get better quality product.
saw this on ebay...2450mah
highest capacity ever for the HTC DESIRE HD or INSPIRE 4G
you can search on ebay for HTC DESIRE HD 2450mah...
not sure about it's performance, since it's made in china.
you are awesome

Probably not.
According to the DHD community the Mugen is the only trustworthy one, and that's at around 1650mah. The ones you see online are rarely what they claim to be.
1800 Andida good
Basically Mugen and Anker are the only good extended batteries it seems, and even then they don't seem to help much. D: I still wanna pick up an extra battery just in case for long trips, etc.

What about this battery?

Hi all.I really need to buy a big battery for my sensation and i found this battery .Anybody know something about this battery? Or i must buy a XE stock battery?I`m from Romania and there not found Anker battery and nobody deliver to Romania. Thanks!
If you are willing to take a risk, it could pay off or it could not. If you aren't able to get the Anker battery and don't want to take a risk, I would say go with the stock battery.

You won't risk anything with the XE battery. I had misread that and thought you were going to buy the 1520mAh stock one instead of the XE.

No no.I have an normal Sensation with 1520mAh stock battery and i want to change his battery with 1730mAh battery from Sensation XE.But i want to know if deserve the change.
Up.
I bought my replacement battery from dx.com and seemingly hit a lucky strike: it's supposed to be 1700mah, yet measures over 2000 in Android Tuner. Cheap, free shipping, pretty much ideal except for the ~3 week shipping time. Doesn't get especially warm, works perfectly, and capacity has only gone up in he couple of months that I've had it.

Thanks for reply. But now i`m really confused what battery is better:XE battery 1730 or this replacemanet.
If you could, post some results. Like how much it lasts and display hours during a cycle.

I really don't know - I'd guess an original replacement has somewhat better quality, but I'm not really finding anything wrong with this battery. The only niggle I have is that remaining battery capacity changes on reboots - it might say I have 30% left before rebooting, and then 40% after (I just made those numbers up, but they're pretty representative). It always goes up, though, so I never have less battery remaining than what I'm seeing. I'm guessing this might have something to do with the battery not reporting its actual capacity to the phone (from reading other threads, only original HTC batteries seem to do this), which maybe means the system has to calculate remaining capacity from other factors(?). Still, it doesn't really affect anything.
I've attached a few screenshots I just took, showing some stats and my current usage (as you can see, the phone has been pretty much constantly in use today, mainly web browsing, but some text editing and other stuff too. Always multitasking, several tabs in the browser, and so on. Wifi on all the time, auto brightness, syncing 2 google accounts.). It's currently running at 1728MHz, Badass @performance (918/1188/1728MHz), with [email protected] 320MHz 3D, 266MHz 2D.

Compared to my results, your is much better and now i`m sure will buy a repleacemant.I have the same "problem" with battery capacity on reboots and now i have original stock 1520mAh htc battery. So how you say, this not a problem.I search and i found original htc xe battery at 18$ with fast courier delivery. What you suggest,i must buy an original htc or this peisen battery? And thank you very much for very good explanation.

Yeah, I had the same problem - after a year and a few months my battery never lasted a workday even with light use, gaming could drain 30-40% in a matter of minutes, and it got ridiculously hot. I also got random reboots all the time. I concluded that the cheapest fix to try would be a replacement battery, and this solved all my problems
If you can get the stock XE battery at $18 including shipping I'd say that's a bargain, and you should probably go for it. Still, the Pisen battery is ridiculously cheap (and shipping from DX is free, if slow). If you can afford it, i'd buy both, try them out, and keep the least good one as a spare. Never know when you need one
