[Q] NEWBIE needs Step-by-Step for dummies on finding SPL version - General Questions and Answers

I have an HTC Trophy and desperatley want to load the Mango roms and get custom ringtones. I have NO IDEA how to check my SPL version. Any questions about this on this site are either very general or a little techy for my comprehension.
I really need a step-by-step from the "beginning" of how to find my SPL version so I don't "brick" my phone. And more info on the whole Mango roms would be APPRECIATED.
And anyone willing to chat with me via email would be AWESOME, but apparently I can't include email being a newbie.
Just a hacking retard looking for some kindness.

Head to this sub-forum you should be able to find all you need.

Thanks, but I've been all over that forum. Apparently newbies are not permitted to post on anything but the "general" forums...until after 8 posts.
The problem I ran into there, as stated in my original, is that the info is a little too techno-speak. I need more specific step-by-step.
Does anyone read the full content of a post before replying?

thank's verry much

Is their a section for beginners?

Is their a section in this forum that is for beginners? When I say beginners I mean we know the basics about computers and what not, but when it comes to changing registry and tweaking up our HTC phone.
Like a guide on "how-to's" on everything and anything we probably would want to do or just the major stuff. That would be great because searching through the forum for other questions that were solved is a hassle. Sometimes I can't find anything then you would have to post it and members would come back to flame you because you didn't search when you actually did.
If their is a section could someone please post the link.
Thanks!
on the top of each section there is a great guide
Also read the Wiki
Good luck,
Didn't know about the Wiki thanks!
No prob mate
Over there you´ll find all that you need as a beginner

OS for htc tilt

Hi all,
I have a htc tilt and want to install hardspl or android software for my htc tilt. can some one pls help.
Thanks
read the first freakin post in this forum
dude... i read it and tried to install but couldnt get it done.can you please post the link here.
appreciate your help
here ya go..a link you requested. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835
HardSPL is not an OS. Hard SPL will allow you to install custom Roms. The OS will be Windows Mobile. duh.
Also don't bother with Android since you lack patience with reading and searching.
Everything you need to know is in the wiki and the sticky at the top of the page.
Unfortunately ( for you ) this is Xda-developers, not " I want to be cool like the other guys , but I lack the patience to read and understand " forum. Thousands of people here have read reread and reread the sticky and have put in the time to understand the process and no one here is going to do it for you. If you don't understand the simple process then leav your phone alone or you will brick it.
At the very least, this post does not belong in the development section, it belongs in the " I'm a noob help me make my phone cool " section. Then read, go through the process and post in the " flashing for noobs " thread, specific questions on where in the process you got stuck, and someone there will answer specific questions.
As others state read the sticky, wiki etc and use the resources already provided for you.....
On that note thread closed.

[Q] Help with Deving

Hello,
I am somewhat new to xda forums and Im glad to be here.
I wanted to ask for some help regarding developing android applications and programs, as I am somewhat lost in the beginning stages of the process. I havent successfully downloaded the correct programs in order to begin so I guess if someone could help in that regard. However more importantly I would like to know if there is anyone who would be willing to be my official dev. trainer/tutor to teach me the basics so that I can actually have a chance at developing something.
I know ive seen a no noobs section so I know pros must be looking at my post like "just another noob". But I am really interested in learning and I would appreciate someones help and guidance. Thanks and I hope someone decides to help.

Bricked HTC Desire S

Hi
A colleague of mine in an attempt to restore the original software has briknal phone. The only access is by bootloader. After what happened in the phone shows bootloader S-ON.
You're going to need to provide more info than that, and you'll probably have much better luck finding an answer if you post your question in the forum section specifically for the Desire S.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1334
You should probably do a little searching and reading first, too. There may be a simple answer that's already posted(or not, that's why you search and then post )

Downgrade HTC Desire S from 4.0.4 to 2.3.5

Hello everybody !
I have an HTC Desire S, and I made the bigest mistake to upgrade to 4.0.4 via RUU.
I just want to downgrade to 2.3.5 with htc sense 3.0 withouth losing my warranty if that is possible !
Please tell me how I can do this and please behave this topic as a beginner person with no knowledge in this kind of operations !
I thank you in advance and hope to receive as many as possible answers that could help me to solve this problem.
P.S. I am from Romania. If someone around here knows the language, we can also speak in private.
Thanks !

Why can people not READ!!!!! This is a QUESTION - don't post it in the DEVELOPMENT forums That's why we have a Q&A forum.
Is it really that difficult for people to understand the basics? Also, learn to search. The question you have asked has been answered too many times to count - so please, go and read the stickies, use the search function and then you will, hopefully, understand what you need to do without us having to repeat what has been said many, many times before.
This is the kind of response that I did not expected to receive. If u know the basics, and if u are very good at this, help others too do not try to give them ethics lessons.

Read the rules of XDA. First Rule;-
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

I pointed out to you that you posted in the wrong place - Dev forum is for DEVELOPMENT work, not for people to ask questions.
I also pointed out that you should search first. Believe me, your exact question has been answered before - you are not the first person to ask this.
There is no point simply telling you the answers because then you won't understand what, why or where and if something goes wrong you will be lost. Much better to read, learn and understand exactly what you are doing and why.
Actually, simonTS is right.
Don't expect help, when you are incompliant to read forum rules.
This section is dedicated to custom roms etc.
Check other forums sections. There is plenty of stuff about downgradeing.

Just repect forum rules, post your questions in Q&A and you'll have expecting answers.
Try search by yourself, you probably find what you need :silly:
Just too slow !
Ok. Thanks. I have posted to the Q&A forum. Please delete this one.
So even after being scolded for not being bothered to search & find the solution yourself you still just post the question & expect others to get you out of the hole you yourself got you into! Man up, learn to read & fix it yourself!
