I have just been using root explorer to paste this into system/media and overwriting the existing bootanimation
you need to rename it bootanimation.zip before you paste it into the media file.

yep good idea just added them

Like the idea of lawnmower man boot anim. To be honest i found it a bit slow & jumpy - probably because it had quite a lot to load in. Also not sure it made it to the end- Revolver 3.0 just boots too fast
Not sure if you could somehow edit it a bit shorter & maybe end it in a way that can loop for the remainder?
Keep it up tho-It's good fun turning an idea in to something you can see on your tablet.

thanks for the input.
I just tweaked it so it runs alot smoother and faster.
I guess making it to the end depends how fast u boot up. I'm also running revolver 3 and have the zip alligned setting on and it runs right to the end and boots into the lock screen. The zip allign makes it take longer to boot so that could be why
Updating with a new link :-D

updated with a video now

anyone like starwars? millennium falcon? deathstars?
then i have the boot animation for you haha video in first post

new boot animation added
ironman suit up scene no you tube vid as of yet i will throw up some screenshots in a moment

The Death Star one looks nice, but it's a tad long. It runs what, 1 minute 20 seconds? Most Transformers load in about 40 seconds (give or take) once the boot animation starts. So half the animation is lost.

Chicago Bulls Boot animation

Here is a Boot Animation I made based off the Bulls Intro Video here is the youtube link:
Obviously it's not the whole video where i started the animation is about the :54 point of the video (notice the heat logo on the bus lol)
*edit* I have updated the animation to make it smoother and a bit better resolution and I have made a video of the actual bootanimation here it is:
and now here is the link to the file it's a tad big but in my opinion worth it!

[Boot Animation] Fake PC BIOS (100% EVO Information) + Sound - **UPDATED 2/7**

Big shout out to evanscnce for his prior work on this. If I missed anyone, please forgive me.
LAST UPDATE: 2/7/2011
Changelog:
2/7/11 - JSmurfy made a flashable zip
9/8/10 - My animations say "Custom ROM". EindhovenOne is creating animations for your specific ROM (click here)
9/4/10 - Added a bootanimation + sound that has the android part for less time (more bios)
9/2/10 - Added a quieter bootsound
9/1/10 - Added Philosuffer's suggestions to bootanimation
Note: It won't have that "unregistered" part on your phone.
Regular version:
(Click here or on the image for the full sized preview.)
Less Droid version:
NOTE: Even though it is 1 frame, the Android part stays for a few seconds as the UI comes up
(Click here or on the image for the full sized preview.)
I changed the animation from the Baked Snack version, most to better reflect most of our current states:
*desire>evo
*8250 cup>8650 cpu
*2.1>2.2
*mocado rom>custom froyo rom
*compass>f.m. radio (I noticed the phone does have a compass... oh well)
*sim>internal storage
*microsd>microsdhc
*trackpad>power + vol down (thanks Philosuffer for the suggestion)
*512MB ROM>1024MB ROM
*init form 7 dots to 5 like the rest
*initialisation>initialization (thanks Philosuffer for the suggestion)
*android fully filled with green text > android gradually filling up with green text
The evanscnce version only currently has:
*desire>evo
*2.1>2.2
*mocado rom>custom froyo rom.
I also made a bootsound that's about 15 seconds, and syncs up with the 1st part of the animation. It is a computer booting up, with fans, the BIOS beep, and disk searching. I haven't heard the other new ones, so mix and match if you like theirs better. I think mine is pretty sweet though. I found that the original version is very loud if you have your volume up, so I also included a softer version.
How to change your boot animation to this one
Way 1 (Recovery):
Enter your recovery and flash this flashable zip (no warranty/use at own risk)
made by me and packaged by JSmurfy. Link to file - http://bbthemesunltd.com/jsmurfevo/bootanimation_bios.zip. Note: this zip will work on ROMS where the animation and sound are in the same place as the stock ROM. If they are not, The zip will not work, but your phone should still be fine.
This version has the "DROID!" sound.
Way 2 (ADB/Root Explorer):
Download the attached file you are most interested in and push the boot animation and sound file to their proper folder. Reboot.
Way 3 (May be outdated, but its a solution for many who don't like recovery or messing with the android file system):
Download evanscnce's Easy way to change your bootscreen *updated for CM6* (link to file - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=388107&d=1282771153)
Download the attached boot animation (bootanimation.zip) and/or sound (SPC_animation_final.zip).
-Unzip pushboot.zip into an empty folder.
-Don't unzip the animation, just put it in that same empty folder.
-Unzip the sound in the folder.
-Plug your phone in, and make sure it is set to debug and charge only.
--Open pushboot.bat if you have HALFROOT
**OR** Open pushboot2.bat if you have FULLROOT
**OR** Open pushbootcm6 if your using Cyanogens ROM
-Follow the prompts (when the phone goes into recovery, wait utill it connects to your pc before continuing)
--If you want to remove the bootsound from your phone, run the audio delete bat.
Just a heads up, this has already been fixed/edited... In the other edit, it has been changed to reflect use on the Evo 4g, Shows as a 2.2 OS, and Also has been customized for various ROMs (Rather than show as "Custom ROM", the ROM name is listed) Just need to DL the right one for the ROM you are using....
Edited BIOS Bootscreen thread
But, Good work.

EDIT: xda wasn't working for me yesterday, or i would have noticed. mine changes 4x more stuff though, and it makes it where it doesn't matter what froyo rom you use. i think someone should still convert this. i'll also get with that person so we can get this done.
EDIT: i figured it out. post 1 is updated.
I made a sound for this BIOS boot animation & it syncs perfectly with the animation (IMO).

That's cool, I may add your "droooid" clip to the end of mine sometime and give you credit. My sound is a 15 sec bootup, fans whirring, bios beep right when it shows froyo custom, disk searching sounds, and then it ends right when the android logo comes up. If I were to add yours to mine, I'd make it say "drooooid" right then. You can add it to mine and post it if you'd like, just please credit me.

I checked both out. I like this one more with the changes you put in place.
One thing about this BIOS Screen is that its a bit fast. The "BIOS" loads so fast you cant read some of the changes.

I agree with you there. In the future, I might make one with less Droid and more Bios.
I ran through your instructions, i am running Evio ROM and i used the Pushboot 2 bat file and i still do not have the custom bootscreen? I tried both of of the attached files..
I can't get the audio to delete.
It installed just fine but won't remove. Can't find the files and errors out.

You should have 3 zip files, pushboot.zip, bootanimation.zip, and SPC_animation_final.zip. Extract pushboot.zip to a new folder, unzip SPC_animation_final.zip into that same folder, and just place bootanimation.zip in that folder. Did any error pop up when you tried, and if so, what?

Try the silent mp3 in the attachment with whatever method you used to place the sound and animation in the 1st place. make sure there is only one mp3 in the folder. If that doesn't work, take a look at the thread with the script to upload the animation (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=701295) and see if there are any solutions, but the silent mp3 will probably work. Let me know.
Almost 100% Evo... At the bottom it says press Home to enter Setup.
This one says Hold Vol-Down + Power to enter Setup, and Initialisation changed to Initialization (for USA residents).

Yeah, it does seem like updating stuff on Android is a little harder than Windows Mobile, for instance.
Why can't it just be a zip!!! Great work though... There seems to be a bunch of new devs/tom cookers.. Hit them up..

The 1st and last time i tried to make something flashable, it bootlooped my device. I am tired of reinstalling/flashing for the time being, and wouldn't want to have anyone else go through it either.
All you have to do is download 2 or 3 files (loader, animation and/or sound). If you follow the instructions, it should take less than 5 minutes total from the time you are done downloading to the time your phone has the new animation running.
Updated for Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 users!!!
First off, all credit goes to the OP for his work on the original animation!
Hey, all...this took me a little while but I updated the original animation so now it says "Fresh Evo v3.2.0.0" under the ROM section. I also changed the "Generic microSDHC " to "SanDisk microSDHC" and changed "FM Radio" back to "Compass" since I don't use the FM Radio at all. I also made the animation a bit longer to compensate for the slight wait you had between the end of the animation and the boot into the ROM...
I'll make updated longer ones for each ROM when I get the chance if the OP doesn't mind and doesn't beat me to it, but I wanted to take care of my Fresh Evo users first.
I also considered making separate ones for each size microSDHC card but that would take quite a while but we'll see.
In any case, here you go, Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 updated BIOS boot animation...and as I stated in the first line, thank you akastixx for your work, sir.

i don't mind at all. people have been editing and re-releasing this boot thing since at least the touch pro. i went with "custom" to appeal to the masses. i didn't feel like putting in the time for each rom that was out. i will link to your post. if you could just add any new ones to that post, we wont have to link to various posts.

[Boot Animation] - ZX Spectrum Loading

***************
Updated
v2 of Boot animation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB6VKPr0my4
*******************
Hello all,
My first post & also my first attempt at a boot animation.
Thought it would be cool to have a ZX Spectrum loading page for my Transformer. Spent a few hours on this today - most of the time was spent banging my head on the desk trying to get it to work. After following all the instructions (using notepad+ to get the desc.txt file right, using 'store' to make the zip uncompressed) I still kept getting a black screen on boot. Turns out I had named the folders part00 (two digit) and only used 1 digit in the desc file. D'Oh!
Anyway, if it's of any interest to anyone you can download the attachment below.
Note I can't take credit for the cool 'Honeycomb' logo which is in the middle of the loading screen. Tried to find the original source for this, but seems to be a few posts around with it. So not sure if it's ihtfp69 or curtisbeef, but props to them for the picture (If the pic is yours and you want it removed / my credit is wrong please let me know).
Note this is a rough first version. If I get round to it I'll do a better version using both the blue / yellow as well as the red / cyan screen.
I'd also like to make it 'load in' the picture in the middle just like the old days.
*Disclaimer* I take no responsibility for you being disowned by friends / family if you sit & make the speccy noises while your TF boots.
It would helpful if you post a video or gif for the animation.
I tried to, but as I'm a newbie I can't insert images or links. I did make an animated PNG. I can pm it to you or a mod when I'm home later & maybe you could put it up?

Pm it to me, ill host and throw it up.
LINK-
http://postimage.org/image/t5z651xg/
Url to animated PNG sent to Warboy.
If anyone else wants to see it in meantime:
postimage .org /image/t5z651xg/
remove the spaces from the link above.
Animation only gives a rough idea- basically the bit with the scrolling bars repeats until system is booted.
I'll film it & put the url for that up as well (if a kindly mod wants to edit the OP to include the proper link that'd be grand).
Again its only at the idea stage now, but when I get some time I'll hopefully make a longer, better version.
You toob
Code:
youtube . com /watch?v=YIG78etmIEw
Url to low quality phone video of boot anim.
Again If a mod can take the time to embed in the OP I'd appreciate it

Hahaha... this is wrong on so many levels!! Gave me flashbacks of playing Elite and accidentaly yanking the plug out while I moved the computer for better playing position. Missing the decompress lines though - you're just showing the dreaded "there's nothing here" lines
And please... DON'T DO AN AUDIO FILE FOR THIS
I remember the agony of tripping over the power supply well. Was minutes away from completing treasure island dizzy when my sister walked past & unplugged mine. No save games back then

Depending on the game you had saves. You just had to be careful not to accidentally overwrite the program on the tape
http://postimage.org/image/t5z651xg/
There you go.
Was stuck offshore over the weekend & have made a completely new version of the animation.
This version has both sets of colour loading pages, as well as a new logo made by me (with credit to Google for the source image) which 'loads in'.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB6VKPr0my4
If it's of any interest to anyone who want's to customise this PM me & I can send the paint.net files I used with the mask for the load in screen.
I never had a ZX Spectrum, but i just realised how awesome it would be with an Amiga (500) "insert disc", or similiar, boot screen... Nostalgia...

[1/6/13 - 6 Animations] MT4GS BOOT-ANIMATIONS [Portrait + Landscape]

Before I begin I'd like to say thanks to Lostsorrow for his introduction into Android Boot Animation graphics. Now, I've been working on Boot Animations lately, and so far I've come up with two device-specific animations that look great on the MT4GS.

1/6/12 - Added boot animations introduced on 11/24 to OP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34595691&postcount=36)
I've done a couple custom bootanims for my G1 back on like Cupcake, but the format changed a few times and I lost track. This is pretty cool though... I love throwback stuff... And I never'd have thought of a BIOS ... cool!
I would have two humble requests....
1) If you're going to have a throwback to PC bootup, perhaps an OS "scrolling progressbar" style logo after the BIOS bit in lieu of the pulsing MT4GS text (something like what Windows does, and admittedly I haven't watched a Mac boot up in a while, and Linux style bootup can be had with logcat live from Market). Maybe a throwback Andy, but without the whole circle animating like previous CMs... just a Windows style progress bar under it
2) Can a landscape version be made?
But even still, cool as it is now! Thanks!
That's a great idea!
I'll come up with an OS scrolling style progress bar or something similar soon, I'll try to make something original (or let me know if you want the plain windows one instead, whatever looks better.)
I've never seen a landscape BIOS boot animation for Android before, I'll look forward into making one, it's definitely possible and shouldn't be too difficult since I already have all the resources.
I'm also going to update the graphics in BIOS boot, and make the letters a bit sharper
nice really like this reminds me of old school Dos 6.22

A "Loading" like feature has been added on the extras, let me know if you prefer the old windows slider look.
I'm still looking into the landscape version.
Also, if anyone has an interesting concept for a boot animation, let me know!
Thanks for these. I've always liked the BIOS boot animation, and the cm9 touch at the end is slick.

whoa! those are awesome! you can use mine old ones if you want lol! nice work though, seriously!
Could you make a bios bootanimation (the first one) compatible with stock roms? I am running Bulletproof. Also is it possible to make it so it doesn't say CM9, since I am on Bulletproof. If this is too much to ask, I understand. These are great, thanks for the work!
Thanks for the feedback guys!
I'm currently uploading a landscape version, and a version that should work with stock. (untested)
also, I updated the BIOS animation to make it look a bit nicer.
Thanks for this! I like v1.1! Looking forward to the landscape version.
Question: even though it's obviously mt4gs could this possibly work on other hardware that's running cm9? The file format should be the same across devices and this would make it appropriate for tablets as well, being landscape.

I did this boot animation on the G2. If audio works for boot animations on the MT4GS, this would be fun to show off.

Could you make a bios bootanimation (the first one) compatible with stock roms? I am running Bulletproof. Also is it possible to make it so it doesn't say CM9, since I am on Bulletproof. If this is too much to ask, I understand. These are great, thanks for the work!

I uploaded a version that should work with stock (And the CM9 text is removed there), let me know if it works!

Thanks! I haven't had the chance to look at your old ones, but I'll look into porting them.

Thanks for these. I've always liked the BIOS boot animation, and the cm9 touch at the end is slick.

I liked the CM9 loop at the end too, I had the idea in my head and BAM there it was. Anyhow, the stock version has the same loop except that it doesn't include the "CM9" branding, adding that to the OP now, lol!

I have a TF201 Transformer Prime and I was considering making a BIOS animation for my tablet as well, it'll look super nice.
Also, I uploaded the landscape version and bumped the version number to 2.0 (the second screen looks a bit cleaner now.) This boot animation should work on any device that's running an AOSP-based ROM (correct me if I'm wrong) since the location of the bootanimation is defaulted to system/media. The only thing that might not work is the Flashable due to the fact that different devices may have different mount points.
The resolution is 480x800 for the portrait one, and 800x480 for the landscape one. A device with a lower resolution might struggle displaying the images, a device with the same resolution would do just fine (but remember, it's MT4GS branded.) And a device with a higher resolution would probably play it smoothly, but it'll look a bit ugly, small, or stretched.
Anyways, thanks for the awesome feedback!

Sweet! I'm going to try to get it running with Audio, I'll let you know if I figure it out ( I haven't seen a boot animation with audio on the doubleshot before.) I believe enabling boot audio is ROM-Specific, I'll look into it.

audio in bootanimations will work for cm9 and aokp as long as you put them in system/media and name them android_audio.mp3
Thanks! I can't wait to start messing with these: http://www.soundjay.com/ :good:

This reminds me...
I had one with audio for my G1, where it had green text appear on the black background one character at a time, but fast. With each character was a little beep. It was similar to the techie computer text effect that Hollywood loved so much in the 80s and 90s.
The text was like "owner info" mixed with "in case of emergency" but the trick was getting the audio to sync with the characters. I never quite got it to match up. In the end, I gave up on sync and just made a generic sound at about the right time, and later it occurred to me that the bootup was never the exact same one time to the next. Near the end of the anim, the audio was always quite noticeably out of sync.
I wasted days on that project. The concept is simple but it is so much work!
"That's a great story, Grampaw!"

That concept sounds amazing, if me or anyone could get that to work that would be sick. The problem is, some ROMs boot faster than others, and a Hot Boot is about a quarter faster than a regular reboot. A working, but boring solution, would be to make a boot animation where the cursor is constantly moving so that Audio would always match no matter what.

Quick question about creating a boot animation

Hey everyone
I just got Cinema 4d and thought id create a boot animation for the TF101 as my first project. My question is how many frames, and what resolution would be the best. Im rendering at the moment 500-600 frames at 1280x800 each and i assume that will end up far to big also what's some good software to convert avi's to .png or .jpeg? (I think cinema 4d does it just havnt got that far)
Cheers
I've been searching for some boot animations, and downloaded a few, and I saw that most have the resolution set to:
Code:
1282x802
although some have it to:
Code:
1280x720
so I don't think the resolution you selected was the ideal xD. About the fps, they ranged between 10 to 40. So your fps I think is too much, but, I'm not really sure of the fps of a boot animation. Sorry .
In terms of the software you want, I've found this:
Hope that helped. Bye.
I have done quite a bit in terms of boot animations and i can say 30fps looks the best anything above that might have skipped frames or trouble loading quickly any lower and it will look jittery. As for res the going 2px above isnt necessarily anymore it was just a honeycomb issue afaik. And a big boot animation will maybe have 200~ frames

Im currently rendering it at 640x400 id like it to be 300 frames because its not really a loopable animation but the file size ends up at like 60mb lol (at 500 frames). I packaged that with the desc file into a bootanimation.zip just to see it working (even if it was slow) but it always ended up playing the default android boot animation would this be because of the size? (Ive never changed the boot animation before)

The naming convention does not matter at all it just does them in order eg a-z 1-99 ect
So it just does not play at all then? Not even a black screen just the old boot animation?

Yeah it wiped the eos boot animation that was in system/media and now plays the animation with the gray "android" which some reflections on it
my new bootanimation.zip is 25.9 mb at 222 frames the images are all .pngs named android 001 to android 222
cheers
Sorry to waste your time dude, I got it to work just needed to add file permissions:silly:

That wasn't an issue with ICS so its weird that it would be in JB. but its good to know for future reference.
Looking forward to seeing what you have come up with

Ah that is strange, Im uploading it now (I made it for RaymanFX's rom) but its still 69 mb, how can i get it smaller it had been rendered at 640x400 at 42 dpi at 500 frames (It still plays fine though)
here's a link to it if anyone's interested (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/39805348/Boot Animation/bootanimation.zip) (still 69mb) it would be good to get some opinions on how to make it better
cheers
