So I got CM6 installed this morning and then realized how much I despised unlocking my phone. LockPicker from 2.1 doesn't work due to the new method of policy management so I'm attaching an Email.apk that works without issues.
I believe there's another test version of this floating around that someone else has been working on, but I'm not sure if it's being done in the same manner.
I apktool d'd the Email.apk from CM6, then in the SecurityPolicy.smali on line 647 defined v5 as 0x1 (true)..this makes IsActive always return True when policies are checked and bypasses all of the exchange security policy junk. Seems to be working fine for me, if you have any questions feel free, not sure if I'll be able to help too much as I figured this stuff out on the fly today, I'll do my best though.

No need for this in 2.1 - bypassing exchange security policies was much easier as it was just a db setting in the settings provider iirc. There's also a very good app in the market called LockPicker. This was just a quick hack for the new froyo.
Glad to hear its working for someone though
Edit: durrr I can't type.

Lemme know if it works in 2.1. ..that'd be nice. I have my doubts as I don't know if eclair supports DevicePolicyManager which is the mechanism for dealing with security policies.

Is there a thread for the db setting in the iirc, like maybe a how to change the db setting in iirc for dummies? I'm using lockpicker but would love to learn more and experiment with the settings. I'll do a search but figured I'd ask anyway!
this is beautiful!!! works perfectly and it's much more clever solution than running a service in the background!
THANK YOU!

I'll give it a shot. I am having the issues that most others are regarding Froyo and Exchange. Google for froyo and exchange it has tons of results.
What setup errors are you experiencing?
Uninstalled the original one and installed this one successfully but the lock screen PIN in still present.

When trying to setup the Exchange account it will tell me I have an invalid username or password when it is correct. I did some googling and a lot of others are having this same issue. It seems to have to do with Froyo not recognizing SSL certificates correctly when it comes to Exchange.

Don't ask me why but i really love the Sense with Froyo.. so attached is the sense Mail.apk that works with 2.2
Could you please try to apply the same patch to it? I tried but i couldn't find the smali or the v5 variable?
I would really appreciate it... as i'm sure other people would too.
Thanks,

Try removing the account, removing the mail app, disabling your screen lock. Then reinstall my apk and reconfigure. That should do the trick.
Ill take a look at the sense mail apparently in the morning, though you could just run lockpickef from the market without issues.

I've found a new way to BLOCK ANY permission for android applications! Successfully tested denial on few different kind of permissions!
It's a great news for me, and prossibly to any of you too.
The application will be completely native except user interaction part (GUI), so lightning fast, and will have access virtually to any permission granted by apk itself. There will be much logic included to ease of use for unexperienced users, but also the advanced mode which will reveal all the system level functions/data. Advanced iptables control will probably be included also at the later development stages.
Any developer experienced with NDK + SDK is kindly asked to contact me.
PS. This thread WILL be the thread for the application itself. I expect to make first alpha's in two months or earlier.

Of course. So let it stay at pm as you already started . We'll move here depending on the case .
I am interested but I am not a developer.
The question is - did you check apps behavior (reaction) on permission denial?
I get FC for some software with this tool market.android.com/details?id=com.stericson.permissions&hl=en

I cannot check this on every app available (for obvious reasons), but I suppose most of them will work. We'll see after first alpha, I'll check it on my own app set which is rather big (the main reason LBE and PDroid buth fails - too much CPU overhead).
UPDATE: Removing unreliable info. Shame on me for reposting smth before fact checking.
Privacy Blocker is the app with patching apk method, not the Stericson' one.
frsp2 said:
I've read somewhere on local forum that com.stericson.permissions application just changes manifest and reinstall apk with patched one.

Privacy blocker should not run in background - it patches apk content.
Modified files:
classes.dex
MANIFEST.MF
MYKEY.RSA
MYKEY.SF
I see no reason to drain battery here.

I am asking because of the same software niche not because of the same principle of operation. If your application solves the same task/problem with less overhead - that's good. We'll see.
BTW is your app must be run in background all the time?
If yes what will be the effect if your program terminates on error or is closed by external application?

Only effect it would cause is no GUI, but denial still working. GUI can be simply restarted (or restarted automatically).

So... Ads, ads and ads. Finally Adguard Premium has let me down on the "Ads Front." So I decided to download Android Studio, took forever to find sdk 23 (complete) but did, cloned Adhell 3 source into build and "POOF" out came a "app-debug.apk." (Adhell 3) Grabed knox license and all is well on my s5. Crazy cause MinMinGuard apparently is up to no good. Here is screen shot. No ads or redirects. just thought I would share my new ad-free experience with you.

Another cool new feature of Adhell 3 is that you can disable specific apps from using mobile data. (a feature that I believe should be built-in stock android; LineageOS has it)

If i were you, i would register at gitlab to get latest source. for example, the block url address was changed so basically if the old url is in there, well, don't exhist anymore, no more block list, like empty host file. its not hard to build, he provides clear steps on his gitlab page.

Hello, could I ask if you know who is the official dev of Adhell3?
I would LOVE to see sub-service control for Google Play Services. The idea of hiding it is apparently to protect the users, but system services is exactly what needs to be controlled the most.
Could you please, pretty please, somehow release a version that also lists system apps when viewing service control? I am sick and tired of GPS drain and the way I could control that in Android 7 was by disabling a significant number of them (mostly analytic/datamining-related services, and some location services).
Alternatively, I might try to re-build the app with this modification myself, but I am nowhere near as good in java to do that yet. If the dev can see this - please give us more control. And THANK YOU for giving us any kind of sub-service and permission control at all. Nobody else did this for us since Oreo. THANKS!!

Same name here as in Gitlab.
It's a simple change in Android Studio for what you're looking for if you build the app itself. It's just changing 1 line.
Too bad that adhell 3 doesn't have a Dark or Black mode - Was really easy to install & get it verified ?
I'm still using notSABS on of my devices & BK Manager on another - Not really sure if there's much (if any) difference between notSABS & adhell 3....? ?

Since Adhell3 is no longer under active development, it matters little, but they are two different animals. Adhell is/was merely a tool to configure the underlying Knox firewall and YOU decided what it should and should not block. While Adguard's DNS server is one of the suggested alternatives, the full Adguard app gives you only very limited choices and uses additional resources.

I've had a S22 Ultra (S908B) for a few weeks now and have noticed that some APKs I keep getting deleted randomly.
The APKs are in subfolders and I sort the directory by most recently modified. Folders that I've not touched in a few days suddenly appear on to as they have been modified... the APK inside them is gone.
I can't think of what could be doing this.

Yeah, it seems to happen overnight between 02:00 and 04:00. It's always the oldest APKs getting deleted each time. I notice it because when I open my APKs folder in FX File Explorer, the subfolders (I have them sorted by last modified date with the most recent on top) the files were deleted from are near the top because they were modified recently.
