[Q] Internet (aka browser.apk) problem - HTC Sensation

Hello there
I got a problem with Internet (aka browser.apk) similar like here , this application and Dolphin browser keeps closing when I start it, quick black screen and nothing more. Firefox and Opera works ok, it's no matter what connection is used : wifi, 2g/3g, usb internet it keeps closing right after starting. I tried to uninstall it, re-instal again, restore from titanium backup with cleaning all it's data, wiping cache and data but without success. I hope there's a solution without hard reset or flashing new rom, I put a lot work in configuring my system. I'm on s-off stock rooted 2.3.4 1.45.401.2 CL125597 and 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M Radio
I will be happy to hear any suggestions.
Thanx

im reaching here but, did you by any chance flash the "all headphones are beats zip"? as this did what you described to my browser, had to do a nand restore. i was able to recreate the problem everytime so i was sure it was that that messed me up...

Yes "all headphones are beats.zip" seem to be the cause of this problems, I suspected this but do not believe it. Is there a way to restore only browser.apk ? After I uninstalled it , there's no way to restore it from titanium backup. Nand restore is not selective, it restores all data and I don't want to lose some apps/configuration. Is there a way to copy a good browser.apk from htc and upload it somewhere ?
Thanx for help.
I managed to extract com.android.browser.apk from titanium backup on my pc (this apk was unavailable when browsing in phone bkp) now all seems works ok. One question remains was it a bug in beat installation or in beats itself or some special configuration ?

Glad to help, but what I did was install the beats warm.zip from the mod thread in the dev section. This works perfectly now. Don't know whats up with the all systems are beats zip tho, maybe some special configuration was the problem
Sent by my feau gee

Ok, but are devs aware of this problem ? I can't post in dev section yet. I'm using WARM mod for some time without problem but all I see is standard SRS option enabled (no dolby or beats) and I want to use beats in all apps.

[Q] com.lge.wmc and com.lge.ers

Hello, i've recently rooted my stock froyo rom (and also installed franco.kernel v18.1)... I installed Titanium Backup also, and there are two LG apps (com.lge.wmc and com.lge.ers) in the list and they are with strikethrough lines...
I also installed Root Explorer to search this files that are stored in /data/data/, and both are with "rwxrwxrwx" permission
The question is, what are these apps?? what they do?? they are safe to delete from /data/data folder???
thnx in advance
Anyone? I'd like to know too.
Echo... Echo... Anybody...
I have the same problem too...too...
Yes update your phone. You are still in froyo...

com.lge.ers
I have some issues with my phone after I rooted it and uninstalled some annoying apps because my phone was running out of memory even if I installed only a few apps (it has only 128 mb). I know it is rather old technology but I got used with the keyboard and the long battery life...
Anyways
So I took a backup with Titanium backup which seems to be useless cause now it appears that there is a file that was uninstalled with one of the applications and the backup does not have it
The file is com.lge.ers and there are probably others because my phone buttons don't work and I cannot put the phone on silent mode
Is it possible to download only those files?
Is there any other solution that would help?
Thank you so much and I would appreciate your help

Backup/Titanium backup pro

I've got a question regarding titanium backup.
I've installed the ARHD 3.6.0 ROM. Installed all my apps, setup my desktop screen exactly how I want it & finally FROZE via titanium backup pro, all the applications I don't want showing in my drawer.
Can anyone give me a dummies guide on how to make a carbon copy of my exact setup please? So that when I install a new update like 3.6.1, I can just run that backup file and it will freeze all my unwanted applications & set my desktop back to how it was..
Do I need to buy a different piece of software to achieve this?
Thank you

Hi,
You just want to be able to port all your settings from one ROM to another.
It all depends on the "base" of the new ROM.
If it's the SAME "base" then you can just wipe your cache partition and dalvik, install the ROM and keep all your settings intact.
If it's a DIFFERENT "base",then there is no way of porting your settings. If you did,it would cause conflicts down the road.
With a different based ROM you can carry across your app DATA using Titanium Backup.
What you cannot do ,is carry across "system data". Again this will create conflicts after a while.Even with a same based ROM.
What you have done with your freezing and everything ,is change system data. This cannot be ported between ROMS.Sorry.
Hope all that makes sense.
Thanks for your response.
I find this incredibly hard to believe.. Im not saying what you are saying isnt true. But surely to god there must be some sort of backup software that can see that I've frozen things like "Dock Mode" & "Downloads" create an image of the files I've frozen, once I then install an update to my ROM I select that backup to run and & goes through & freezes the things I had frozen before...
Im freezing things out of my App drawer, so I dont have hundreds of icons in there... Im not freezing any system files or anything like that...
Its literally things like:
Adobe Reader
Connected Media
Dock Mode
Downloads
Flashlight
FM Radio
Friend Stream
Google Search
HTB HUB
HTC Likes...
etc etc. Just things that create icons with my app drawer that I'll never use.
Thanks
You can save desktop settings and data from apps when switching roms. You would have to freeze those apps again on a clean install of a new rom. Its the best and cleanest way possible to ensure the installation is running at its peak. Just freeze the apps you don't want again. I haven't tried an app that remembers and backs up frozen apps.
I think it will be easier if I get the Package Names of all the Apps I wanna freeze then everytime I install a new ROM, just 'pm disable' the list of package names via the terminal emulator.

Hi,
I know what you are saying.
You just want to get from one ROM to the next with the minimum of faffing around.
Like I said ,going to a new ROM with the same base is easy.
Otherwise it's a COMPLETE re-installation.
On another note ,if you look on mike's [OP] just above the changelog section, there is a thing called "ROM CLEANER"
I have not used this, but I believe you can remove any apk or app you do not want to use ,BEFORE the installation.

that is what I want exactly. Titanium should remember what has been frozen and freeze them next time when I flashed a new ROM.
Any other tools can do this?
This should not be difficult to implement. Any other tool can do this?

In the premium version there is a setting that says Auto-Sync TB settings. Tick this. Then follow this guide and you will Freeze all the apps you had no matter how many Roms you change.

For what you want a nandroid backup is much easier. Just go to recovery and make a backup. If you want to restore just superwipe and restore the backup from recovery again, and everything will be exactly in the state as when you made the backup.

[Q] Memory issue!

Please don't tear me a new arse for being a complete arse...
I've been trying a few ROM's and somehow managed to flash a script or something which has changed the memory format on my device. Now I keep getting not enough memory messages and I can't restore my original backup as the MD5 thing is wrong??
Can one of you smart chaps please help me restore the memory / format, etc. to how it should be and let me know what it is I did so I don't do the stupid thing again. Thank you
PS. It may have been Pyramid3D ROM with 4EXT recovery manager, but I'm not sure??
Looks like you need to do a super wipe and start from scratch. Use the Super Wipe from Android Revolution. You may be able to restore from your Nandroid backup after a wipe.

Still issues...
Thanks for that. Tried it all from scratch and tried to restore my original ROM using CWM recovery, but I keep getting a message saying the MD5 check mismatch or something like that? How do I get my original ROM to restore?
Sorry about all the questions... I've modded Windows Phones for years, now I've switched to Android and I seem to think I'm some kind of expert just because I've done this for years on another platform!
It doesn't seem to matter which ROM I use, when I've installed about a dozen of my apps from Market I get an "Insufficient memory" message even though my device says I've got 0.91GB??
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Did you by chance rename your Nandroid backup ? I had this issue when I added comments to the filename after the timestamp. For me " ", space, was the offending character. Just a thought.
I recently had that "ran out of space" issue when I downloaded a bunch of album art from Gracenote on the Sense music player. I had to format my SD card and reload all my music. If you try that just make sure you back up all your pictures on your computer. Your SD card just may be full.

Thanks for your helps guys. I cleared dalvik and system cache via CWM and all is good again... weird?!

Update without losing data / apps

I´m new in here, so at first let´s say Hello!
I´ve searched the forum for a while but I wasn´t able to fnd a answer to my question (a answer I understand....)
I´m running 2.3.5 (XXKPM) on my 9003 and got some problems.
The phone freezes every let´s say second or third call when ending the call.
Sometimes it freezes when the call arrives, then I have no possibility than pull the battery out. In that case I´ve got a black screen, ringtone plays endless and also can´t see who´s been calling after rebooting the phone.
The KPM was installed via Kies on first connect, without any problems, I didn´t lose any data / apps when doing this. No other dialers / mods / ...
Because of my problems I´d like to try 2.3.6 (KPQ), but I didn´t find a answer in the forum, if data gets lost when flashing via odin. (I don´t get it via Kies)
Can somebody help me?
Is there a app (which JUST WORKS) I can use to make a complete backup of my system (apps / settings / savegames / ....)
Sorry for this noob question but there´s so much information on the forum and it seems I´m not able to pick out the information I need...

Download Titanium backup from market.
U will need to be rooted to use it.
Set the backup folder to the external SD from preferences.
Backup all user apps with data.
Flash the new rom following the flashing procedure.
After this U will lose titanium backup, unless u copied it and kept.
Root the rom using any of the available cf-roots.
Install titanium backup again from market.
Set the backup folder to the one on external sd card.
Now restore the user apps.
Thats all.
When u update via Kies to the latest firmware of ur country and phone operator u don't loose data, i've never updated with official or stock firms, always with Odin and the like...
I've updated my niece's Samsung Galaxy Mini via Kies and she didn't loose any data

I quote, any update with kies,or any simple update (flash with odin with one single file) don't erase nothing, just update keeping files

[q] smart ii alcatel..please help!!

..
You should always read learn about these stuff, before do anything.
You rooted the stock rom, you deleted system apps and now you've got these problems..
What apps did you delete?
What app did you use to remove apps?
Did you make a backup of your original rom before the root? If not: bad! You should always do it!
Did you have a backup of the apps you deleted?
You should never remove system apps... But you can still freeze them with Titanium Backup or Link2SD, so if something is not working you can still un-freeze them.
Also, you should not use tools like uniflash, if it is NOT tested with your phone.
Try to go to a Vodafone shop, and say them that your phone is not working well, and you don't know why... maybe they will just change it even if it's rooted.
OR you can go here http:/ /roeddie. blogspot. it/ p/ vodafone-smart-ii-alcatel-v860.html and download AiO Fastboot, which includes: drivers, recovery, custom rom. It will auto-flash the recovery and the roeddie's custom rom. View the HELP file before starting flashing the rom!
Here I put the direct link for you
http://roeddie.blogspot.it/p/vodafone-smart-ii-alcatel-v860.html
Thanks for those replies, I did make a backup but it was on my previous PC before it decided to break!!...so new computer minus backup ...lol everything I have is breaking
I have deleted all Vodafone crap except Vodafone updates, with root explorer...thing is...it was receiving calls after I deleted these apps..then suddenly it wasn't...the phone always had the delayed call answer problem that so many others have had with the firmware on this phone, so i installed the call delay patch from app market... I can make phone calls, send and receive texts but not receive calls...very strange!!....so I suppose I'll go with the custom rom ....
I'll let you know how I do with it....by the way you mention "backup"...but has no one else go one i could use?
cheers:good:
