[Q]Rooted, but can't install CWM - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have successfully rooted using BRKs rookit software, but for whatever reason, CWM is not installing and when I do the power + vol button boot, it seems to go into a stock Asus recovery, not CWM. I have tried overwriting it a few times with BRK tools, but it just won't work. how do I get CWM on there? i can't seem to find a good guide. I have Rom Manager installed from the android market, but i read not to install CWM from there.

Are you sure you have rooted? Do you have superuser?

Can only access recovery thru rom manager?

So I flashed clockwork when rooting and renamed the script that always reverted to the stock recovery. I could always access clockwork from the bootloader.
However I just started using rom manager. Since it made me flash the recovery again I can't access clockwork from the bootloader. Can someone offer me advice on what to do to remedy this? I want to be able to access recovery no matter what.

If you can't access recovery from the bootloader you probably need to flash it again from within rom manager. That happened to me once and a reflash of recovery worked.
Power button and volume up to access with phone off to get in.

[Q]I tried flashing CM7, didn't flash and now I'm back to stock 2.2 with no market.

How can I get ROM manager back so I can restore my backup? Even after doing a factory reset the market won't show up and when I try to install ROM manager via my PC it says it's already installed.
How did you flash CWM? Through nvflash or through rom manager?

You need to install cwm the right way. (through nvflash)
This way you can boot directly into recovery and either flash gapps or restore from the nandroid backup you should have made.

I'm gonna assume that you flashed CWM using Rom Manager because if you did it through NVFLash, you can always get into recovery by holding power and volume down.
You can try google the Rom Manager APK and download that and transfer it over via usb and install it. You might need a file manager too in order to install the APK.
Also go to your Application Management and see if you can find Rom Manager, if you do, uninstall it then try install it via your PC again.
The last resort and something you should do anyways is Flash CWM using NVFlash because it will ALWAYS allow you to get back into recovery to restore or flash new rom incase something goes wrong. Rom Manager is only fakeflash.
There is a thread show you how to do this over in G2X Android Dev Forum.
And if none of that works am I looking at a brick?

NVFlash should work.

NVFlash will work for sure, unless your phone is not turning on right now at all (bricked).. otherwise, just flash CWM using NVFlash right now.. and once your done, just hold power and volume down and restore your back up or if you dont have your nandroid, get the stock one that is posted over in the Dev Forum.
I'm not very familiar with nvflash, I'll see if I can figure it out. Where do you recommend I start?
Over at G2X Android Dev Forum there is a step by step guide very very easy to use. This is the General Forum.

I should have looked, it's right there heh heh. Thx!
Hey, I did the step by step guide and successfully installed nvflash but when I hold down Power+ down volume it doesn't go into recovery. Am I doing something wrong?

[Q] Accessing CWM through RM. Differences?

I wanted to know if there was any difference between accessing CWM via holding down the SGS4G buttons during boot and opening Rom Manager and telling it to boot into CWM.
Thanks,
Jeremy
The CWM version from ROM manager is broken for our phones. If you're on Froyo I recommend you uninstall it and then install the Bali 3.3 kernel so you can get a working version with voodoo etc.
If you want to be able to reboot into recovery, you can download the quickboot app which will let you do it without the 3 button combo.
OK. The CWM I used is one I downloaded from an xda article. I had to manually copy it to /system/bin.
The version is 3.2.0.0
If use that to flash will I be OK?
Thanks,
Jeremy
EDIT: never mind... I uninstalled Rom Manager and rebooted the phone to recovery using the quick boot app, then when I went to reinstall packages, I got into the version of CWM that everyone is referring to (3.0.2.8).
Thanks,
Jeremy
Good...yea dont use ROM manager it just causes a lot of problems

[Q] Flashing CWM onto rooted SGS 4G

Hey. So I rooted my T-Mobile SGS 4G (stock 2.2 firmware) with SuperOneClick. That was super easy, I tested it out with a few utilities and I definitely have root.
So I went into rom manager and pushed the button to flash clockwork mod. It asked me for superuser status, said it was successful, but then it boots into the stock samsung recovery. I've tried this several times and I always have the same result. I'm sorry if there's an answer on this already but I'll be damned if I could figure out how to search for it without coming up with a bunch of unrelated problems.
Thanks!
Try going into clockwork and choosing boot to recovery then after that if it goes into stock recovery choose reinstall packages sometimes you have to choose reinstall twice. That's how I got mine into cwm first time

Oh no that's the problem, I can't get clockwork to boot. No matter how many times I install it using the installer inside rom manager, the stock recovery boots up.
ROM MANAGER DOES NOT WORK. USE KRYLONS CWM FINAL IN THE DEV SECTION.

Yea I no, but wen u boot into it you get the stock 3e recovery and there is an option to reinstall packages

You need to download krylons modified recovery.bin file and use a file explorer app to push the file to system/bin. You need to also have the file update.zip on the root of your SD card. Then you boot into stock recovery and choose reinstall packages. This will boot you into cwm.

CWM not working on tf101 9.2.1.11 + 9.2.1.17

Never been able to install CWM since upgraded my tf101 B50 to ICS. It worked before ICS.
I am now using 9.2.1.17 and rooted using PrimeTime. I had installed RecoveryInstaller in 9.2.1.11 and it did not worked. Now in 9.2.1.17 I tried installing RecoveryInstaller again and it said 'App installed.' When I go to recovery using vol- + power then vol+, I got a yellow android laying down with a red traingle (with exclamation) on top of it. I got the same thing using 9.2.1.11.
Any suggestion much appreciated. Thanks.
After yo have install the RecoveryInstaller app, did you open the app and flash CWM recovery?
After installation, I did not open. I selected done and power off to go to recovery.
I am not sure what is meant by 'did you open the app and flash CWM recovery?'
I thought CWM is already installed after installation. This worked before ICS.
What is meant by flash CWM recovery? Thanks.

The RecoveryInstaller app help to install CWM recovery.
After you are done with installing the RecoveryInstaller, go to the app drawer and find the app, click on it to open. you should now see a button that say "Flash Recovery" or something similar. Click on it to install CWM recovery.
Your TF should reboot and you'll see the blue progress bar.
Many thanks, I though its a one click installer!
Edit: Great IT WORKED!
