[Q]I tried flashing CM7, didn't flash and now I'm back to stock 2.2 with no market. - T-Mobile LG G2x

How can I get ROM manager back so I can restore my backup? Even after doing a factory reset the market won't show up and when I try to install ROM manager via my PC it says it's already installed.

How did you flash CWM? Through nvflash or through rom manager?

You need to install cwm the right way. (through nvflash)
This way you can boot directly into recovery and either flash gapps or restore from the nandroid backup you should have made.

I'm gonna assume that you flashed CWM using Rom Manager because if you did it through NVFLash, you can always get into recovery by holding power and volume down.
You can try google the Rom Manager APK and download that and transfer it over via usb and install it. You might need a file manager too in order to install the APK.
Also go to your Application Management and see if you can find Rom Manager, if you do, uninstall it then try install it via your PC again.
The last resort and something you should do anyways is Flash CWM using NVFlash because it will ALWAYS allow you to get back into recovery to restore or flash new rom incase something goes wrong. Rom Manager is only fakeflash.
There is a thread show you how to do this over in G2X Android Dev Forum.

And if none of that works am I looking at a brick?

NVFlash should work.

NVFlash will work for sure, unless your phone is not turning on right now at all (bricked).. otherwise, just flash CWM using NVFlash right now.. and once your done, just hold power and volume down and restore your back up or if you dont have your nandroid, get the stock one that is posted over in the Dev Forum.

I'm not very familiar with nvflash, I'll see if I can figure it out. Where do you recommend I start?

Over at G2X Android Dev Forum there is a step by step guide very very easy to use. This is the General Forum.

I should have looked, it's right there heh heh. Thx!

Hey, I did the step by step guide and successfully installed nvflash but when I hold down Power+ down volume it doesn't go into recovery. Am I doing something wrong?

Rom manager wont install rom after download

My g2x is rooted, backed up, and when I try to download any rom from rom manager it will download, then reboot into normal factory settings... as if I just did a master reset.
Anyone else have this problem? I'm a big noob when it comes to this ><

I highly suggest you stop messing with rom manager, and do a real recovery cwm flash using NVflash. The simplest tutorial is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
I think he will probably have the newest 4.0 cwm to download as a one-click maybe by tomorrow...but you can still use the one up there now.

Need a little help doing a nandroid backup.

I'm currently rooted with everything else stock. I've decided I want to try the Bali Kernel, so I thought the first thing I should do before anything else is a backup. So I downloaded Rom Manager and followed the steps from here.
so when I ran Back Up Current Rom, I got the following. See screen shot. Is there something in that guide that is missing?
Also, someone in a similar thread said to choose Reinstall Packages. I tried that and got this. See screen shot.
you have to press reinstall packages then go to backup and restore and make a backup... and if you get that error you could try replacing the recovery file in system and then trying it again
First thing is to ditch rom manager. It has issues with the sgs4g and will give you a headache and little else. Second go to the development section and find krylons cwm final thread and follow it to the letter.
It looks like you don't have clockworkmod installed and you need this to do what you are trying.

Ok, so I followed the instructions. Replaced the Recovery file and put update.zip on the root of the sdcard. But I still needed Rom Manager to run the back up. Then did the reinstall packages again and this time it went in recovery to do the back up, and it worked.
If I didn't reinstall Rom Manager, how else would I have run a back up. I followed this guide that worked for the sidekick 4g.
you do not need rom manager at all.
do the update and recovery file go to recovery screen reinstall packages then you can goto backup and restore and either back up a rom or restore one

Got it thanks. I noticed the Galaxy S 4G is one of the phones in the Flash recovery list in Rom Manager. So would it be correct to say that the update to Rom Manager to support the SGS4G did not work? Hence, needing to manually install the recovery and update.zip files.

[Q] ROM Manager?

Do I have any need or use for the ROM Manager app after I completed the process of flashing ClockworkMod to my phone listed here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
I'm new to this thing and still trying to get a grasp.
Not needed but preferred, its an easy way to manage/update your ROMs

Did you flash CWM via NVFlash? If you just download Rom manager and clicked on flash clockworkmod recovery, and something goes wrong, you won't be able to boot into recovery to restore into a different backup.
If you did flash CWM with NVFlash then you can just keep ROM manager, it's a handy tool.
After you flashed the CWM with NVFLash, go here next http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255214

Thank you. Yes, I did flash CWM via NVFlash. Then I went to the link you mentioned and rooted the phone. It was only after this that I downloaded the ROM Manager app, just not sure what it offers over what I've already done.

Convenience is all cwm offers over nvflash. As stated if you don't flash via nvflash and you get stuck in a boot loop your stuck till u nvflash the recovery.

Well it's not necessary, what I use it for is to boot into recovery, so that I don't have to turn off my phone, then hold the volume down and power button to boot into recovery. All I have to do is open ROM Manager, then click boot into recovery. You can also make backups install ROMs and update your current ROM via ROM Manager. You can do all of this without ROM Manager, but some people find it easier via ROM Manager.

Clockworkmod not working? Help

OK I got a new G2X after the charger port in my old one from T-mobile. I root it with superclick one then download clockwork from the marketplace. I try to boot into recovery and then the phone hangs. When he does not hang it says install of update fails and wont let me flash my rom. Did clock work change or am I doing doing something wrong?

That one from the market is a no go for this phone. That recovery (I assume via ROM Manager) simply not gonna stick.
Go to this thread and flash the recovery using Nvflash:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
This question should go to the G2X Q&A section, though.
Good luck!

Abandonware??? What gives you that idea??
In the play store ROM Manager was updated the 16th of this month, and if CWM was also abandonware then no newer devices would have been getting CWM on it.
Is that a legit question or are you trolling? I find it hard to believe someone would be calling it that.

First, the best way to get CMW of any version is by using the NV Flash ( Search that up ). Then you can boot into recovery by pushing the power button (the one on top), and the volume down button ( Its on the right side). It should boot into recovery perfectly after you do this. Tell us if it works!

Agree, Best way to flash recovery is Thru NV flash. Its a little complicated but ones you get the hang of it, its easy than you though
ROM manger can flash recovery but not always does a full flash, so best way is NVflash.
