few questions... - HTC Sensation

Hello! Today I am a fresh owner of Sensation, and I have some questions for those who already are a bit familiar:
1. Where can I find and whether he can find the option to mute the phone? The Galaxy's was a possibility after draining the upper beam, and here?
2. Where can I remove applications? Again, I am going to have a galaxy's task manager where you can easily remove what you want, and here how it looks?
3. Here, a question relating to the second. what things should be discarded at the outset to get more memory and space? What is redundant, etc.
4. How do I get % battery on the top bar, because when the battery icon does not yet know exactly how much I have left.
5. A few good ways for longer battery life?
6. What type of page is Samsung (samfrimware.com) all issued and the latest frimwares and a few good sites with skins, scenes, wallpaper and animated HD.
This is a little bit but maybe someone help me greetings phone maniacs!

All question you seek had been answer countless times in here. Everything you need to know is in here... in XDA, want batt % icon, just search battery % on sensation as an example..
just try no narrow your question on search and you'll be ok, also to remove system apps... you need to be rooted.. also read alot before doing so, many ppl here dont read and then they BRICK their devices, dont do the same and read.

Keeping the phone in memory

I am running an eclair rom on my g1 (latest superbad), but that's not really important. What is important is that I like having the launcher in memory because it lets me get back to the home screen faster (for the most part).
In similar fashion, it takes a long time for the phone app to start when I hit the green button, or when I have an incoming call, and so logically I think that keeping the phone app in memory might fix that issue as well. Technically I could be completely wrong. I don't know. I'm not a developer.
Is this possible/feasible? Would it fix the issue?
Note: In all likelihood this post will result in touchy moderators complaining about how it's in the wrong place, or I didn't search or myriad other posts that I often have to sift through before someone answers the question...But I searched and couldnt find any one asking this question, and I thought it was worth asking. I just don't have the time or energy to try and figure out where or when it is appropriate to post. Maybe it's exactly where it belongs, and it is a worthwhile post, but that would be completely accidental.

Pre-complaining about others' complaints = lame.
To answer your questions, have you: 1. checked Spare Parts to see if the "keep home app in memory" bit is set? (at the bottom of the list) 2. have you used a task manager like Auto Killer to manage your memory more aggressively ? 3. Have you used a task manager to see dialer.apk's status after using the phone for other stuff? 4. Have you posted this question to the devs/other users of this ROM to see if they have similar problems?
BTW, your config including ROM type/build/version, etc is extremely important.
No doubt someone will complain about the placement of your thread but to be honest some of these people have no lives. Anyway, I don't know if this helps but I exclude my dialer from my task manager and it starts instantly. I am using Advanced Task Manager... hope it works for you.

I think maybe you only read the part where I precomplained... since that seems to be the only item you commented on appropriately. But to answer your questions...
1. I clearly stated that I keep home app in memory because I like the performance gain. I have no idea what your asking me.
2. I don't use task killers/memory managers. Cyanogen and most other experts have argued against them enough to convince me that it's not the right solution.
3. huh?
4. I'm not complaining. This is not geared toward any particular dev. Slow phone is a known inconvenience with all eclair builds on G1. Didn't think I needed to go asking if anyone else was experiencing it. I have flashed so many eclair roms to my phone, and with all of them the phone app has behaved more or less the same way.
BTW- I also clearly stated that I have a G1 running the latest superbad.
Here's my question again... Would keeping the phone app in memory improve it's performance in the same way that keeping the home app in memory does? If so is there value in including this option in spare parts?

Thank you for your suggestion... but I'm leery about using task managers/killers based on some of the discussions I've read from some of the expert devs (cyanogen, etc). I suppose if it works, the result is the same. I am surprised no one has asked this question before. I searched quite a bit and couldn't find a mention- on here, and a straight up Google search.
I don't know why I wasting my time on your reply since you're too arrogant to accept advice but here goes in more simple words you might understand.
1. Download task manager
2. Use task manager to see DIALER's status. Is it foreground? Is it background? What is its OOM, what is it PID?
3. Report results on appropriate ROM thread. Ask other users if their experience is similar.
4. In the meanwhile, try keeping alive the Dialer longer than normal. This means make OOM higher. (yes, its extension is APK as it is an Android application, you know, your OS?)
If you saw "kill" anywhere in there, let me know. If you are comparing your experience with dialer to a Launcher app that is held in memory by Spare Parts, that's useful information. Nevermind that a Launcher that is held in memory elbows out other foreground apps like, oh . . . Dialer? What would you guess that OOM is? If you like launcher's response better than dialer, perhaps you should adjust's dialer's OOM. Just a thought. I don't know ****, that's why I'm trying to help.

I don't know where the arrogance was in my opening post??? You decided to start off your first reply with name calling. Cool it. Don't waste your time on me anymore, ok? I don't need your help, man. There's plenty of polite, helpful people here. I'll look to them. I don't need advice wrapped around names and swears and put downs.
Edit:I just deleted 3 paragraphs... you're just not worth the effort.
Let me repeat my question, slightly reworded, since I don't know what OOMs are and I don't want to know.
Spare parts has an option to keep launcher in memory. Is there a chance that adding another option to keep the phone in memory might help with phone app performance? I don't want to use task killers, etc.
That is my question. My only question. Sorry for all of the drama, folks.

Yes, I'm sorry for my part -- I started sarcastic and then thing flew out of hand. My point about priority and memory allocation is this: dialer is, by its nature, held in memory-it doesn't have to be loaded after boot, it just has to be recalled. I'm sure you've noticed that no matter what you're doing on the phone, it all takes a backseat to an incoming call, and usually very quickly, <5 seconds. The phone is still built to take calls above any thing else.
So my answer to your question is this: bump up the priority of phone.apk. It will respond to the green button more quickly. In my ROM, Phone has an OOM of -12, while HTC Sense is 0 -- that's Spare Parts working to make dialer higher on the food chain. Think about it. Don't wait for someone to rewrite a ROM, just use AutoKiller to bump it up the foodchain and push other background processes further to the back. If you use compcache, remember dialer.apk may end up there, where it takes more till (being compressed) than normal to recall. Also Phone Prioritizer (which I can't find on the market anymore due to my build) is nice fore renicing more frequently than the OS does by default. All these things could help. Reducing other concurrent background tasks will help as well.

I know what you mean. Im not sure what happend to XDA lately. Back when it was ALL windows mobile forums (phones no android), everyone was very helpfull ect... When android phones started coming out that brought the whole world to XDA and now we have people on here who have nothing else to do but bash people instead of helping them... Anyways... LOL
As for the dialer / home in memory situation. I found that enabling swap / compcache makes a huge difference.
I been on every 2.1 rom on G1 and ALL of them had problems with loading apps very slow and opening the home screen real real slow even with "Home in Memory" checked in spared parts.
And then I flashed Super E yesterday wich is a 2.1 rom that has swap / compcache settings inside spare parts. I partitoned my sdcard with 254mb swap and enabled Swap and Compcache of 32mb. I also went to the market and downloaded "Swapper 2" which will also enable swap and tell you your swap statistics. After doing that everything and I mean everything opens rather instantly.
My sdcard is class 2 so I never been a fan of using swap but using swap with compcache makes a huge performance difference for me on my G1 on the Super E rom. I think theres an update to Super E that I havnt flashed yet but with the perfomance so far I dont see a need to update but I might update just for the hell of it.
Long story short. Enable swap partition on your SD card / Install Super E / Install Google Apps / Enable Aps 2 SD / Spare Part Enable compcache / swap 32mb / Enable Launcher in memory / Download Swapper 2 from market and set to on.
Thank you. I will try your suggestion.
One last comment- since I started running eclair roms on my G1, the phone app has taken longer to load than it used to. It doesn't feel like it has priority over the other apps. I do need my phone to be a phone, first and foremost, and it has gotten better, but it's still often very slow to load. Also, I run a very vanilla install. I wipe my phone so often that I don't bother loading a lot of apps. This behavior would be typical for anyone with a fresh install of one of the eclair roms.

All these replies you are getting about phone.apk and dialer.apk have nothing to do with your problem. In fact there is no dialer.apk. And phone.apk is mainly for incoming calls. The rest of the dialing, such as when you use the green button, is done via contacts.apk. The slow load times are really a part of the way android kills processes. If you are running a replacement launcher like LauncherPro or GDE, etc, what you are seeing is that acore needs to reload and takes a long time. The stock launcher is much more forgiving. I have found that by installing the "DialerOne" dialer from the market, that these alternate launchers do not cause the acore reload, and the dialer is very fast to load.

I never said phone.apk but I did transpose dialer and phone as interchangeable names for the same process. My fault, but what runs in the background to let let you make phone calls is name com.android.phone.
This advice/his characterization of how the dialer-contacts tool works might hold true in Eclair/2.1 Cyanogen-based ROMs, but it is not an "android" universal truth. I am running a Sense 2.1 ROM and believe me, there is no "contacts" process. Foregrounding com.android.phone brings up the dialer, and decreasing its OOM brings up the dialer instantly when the green button is pressed.
The other gentleman's response that more cache is the answer may be a great answer for cm5.0.7 ROMs--if you can get a good cache going, I never could--but it's almost a non-question in Sense ROMs since everyone will run one anyway, whether it be backingswap or linux-swap.
Now that's we've cleared this question up completely
I couldn't bother reading all of the back and forth stuff, I am using Xtreme-1.2.2-black it is 2.1 CM5 base.
I have been using shadowch31 Renice Script that gives the "phone" app a higher priority and it starts up a lot faster.
Also using and ogg file instead of an mp3 has been know to help.
I haven't seen the script in any of the forms so I am not sure if shadowch31 wants it released so pm me or him if you want to give it a try
This is from the getting hero to run faster thread in general:
You can easily lock home into memory. *thanks speedysilwady and firerat. Here's how to set this permanently:
Code:
adb pull /init.rc
[I]replace "setprop ro.HOME_APP_MEM ..." with:[/I]
[I][B]setprop ro.HOME_APP_MEM 1536[/B][/I]
adb push init.rc /sdcard/init.rc
adb shell
# mount -o remount,ro rootfs /
# cat /sdcard/init.rc | tee /init.rc
# mount -o remount,rw rootfs /
# rm /sdcard/init.rc
Can't we do something similar with the phone.apk?

From the man himself! So did my suggestion help? Did I actually contribute by posing the question?
For the record, I did say that this was the case with all 2.1 roms I've tried, not a problem with superbad.

You are right, there is no "contacts" process. And I have seen this contact.apk loading issue since "donut", so it is not an "eclair" only issue. What I do see is that when you are running an alternate home app, that when you press the green button, or the phone icon, what you get is an "acore has died" in adb logcat. At this point acore reloads all the programs under it including launcher, before it runs the contacts app to get you the dialer. I have seen up to 20 seconds before the dialer comes up. Renicing phone.apk does not help this issue in my testing. I have just tried dialerone from the market, and it does not suffer the slow load times. I do not know what brings up the dialer when you press the button, all I know is that the dialer is included in contacts.apk, and what I see in a logcat whn I press the button or icon. Dialerone is working for me, and I can use the latest ADW launcher without a delay to the dialer. Thanks for setting me straight....seriously.

AFIK phone.apk is not the dialer, and is already locked and does not get killed. Just think about it, if it was able to be killed, what would be running to handle an incoming call?

Hey, everybody's got to be wrong at least once a day, me . . . . more 10 or 20 times a day. I don't know what it is with gapps and acore crashing regularly in cm eclair builds, but my impressions from t1-stable were: Hero-like instability, without the Hero bells and whistles. So I switched to Sense 2.1 Result, apps do die when I look at the phone funny (or press Dial -- fring dies when I press dial, or the mysterious com.smithmicro.DM -- probably a keylogger), but the bells and whistles are nice, so there's tangible payoff for dealing with a stretch of a mod.
Hope HTCClay works a miracle and fixes your phone. Maybe he can share the secret with other devs Peace

How to uninstall AT&T apps - HTC Pure WinMo 6.5 Pro

Hello all. Searched the forums and didn't find the answers to this. Pardon if it's been asked before.
I have a Pure. My first smart phone, and I'm really liking it. It's an AT&T phone, which means it comes with all the crap they like to preload. I've read on several different web sites (and those sites all seem to refer back to xda) of a way to get rid of the ATT bloat. Apparently it involves a hard-reset of the device, then A)remove the battery, or B)push the reset button, and that will interrupt the auto-install process. I'm very interested, as I'd like to free up the memory (however big or small the amount may be), and I suspect the thing would run a bit faster as well.
My questions:
1. All the instructions I've read deal with earlier versions of WinMo. Does this still work with 6.5 Professional?
2. If it does, what exactly is the procedure? Do I remove the battery, or push soft reset?
3. Is there a possibility of damage? I don't see how, but I'd like to be sure.
4. There are some of the pre-loaded apps that are useful. Is there a way to find the worthwhile apps and install them one at a time?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Why not just flash a deodexed ROM and do what you like?
Theming simply requires deodexing, sorry.

guys, thanks for the help. I'm just used to WM where we could theme even before Root (I know it's not called "root" in WM). Everything was a nice easy "cab" file for people like me. I thought android was more user/hack friendly. I am coming to find out you need to be a genius to do some of this stuff (yes, i just called you guy's geniuses). I love my phone being 100% stock (while being rooted) and everything working perfectly. All as I want is the batt percentage meter. I don't like installing new ROM's because I have never found one that was 100%. They always have a few bugs or what not. Maybe I'm wrong on this also. Is there a ROM that is 100% stock except that it would be deoxed? how about if i got my Froyo via the RUU method rather than the update zip? Would that make me deoxed? And if i can achieve it that way, can i go back now that I have already done the update? All the ROM's i have read about are either missing something (took out apps that i need) or are really different from stock.
Again. I am Stock Sense, Rooted, 2.2 via update zip (the one that came out a few days before they started the OTA). help....

Look in the very first post, near the end of the post. The OP offers an odexed as well as deodexed version. Of course you'll have to meet some criteria first (rooted, S-OFF, 2.x radio, ...)
Read carefully, and as always no one is responsible for what you choose to do to your phone than yourself.

I was just about ot come back here and ask "is this what I'm looking for?" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765930
and you already beat me to it. Yes i have all that stuff. The 2.X came with my update zip. I used the new Enrevoked3 beta method to root and it gives me S-off.
the only question or worry i have (and you guys have been great helping me) is the 3G problem. A couple people were saying you had to switch airplane mode to get it to work. I don't have that problem right now nor do I want it. I now i can go back via nandroid but is there a fix fot that?????
unfortunately no one has been successful in pinning down the root cause of that particular problem just yet. if that's a show-stopper for you, put down your phone and walk away now. ;-)
but as far as i've been concerned, that minor bug (which isn't consistent or necessarily predictable, and as you've seen in your reading relatively easy to fix) is a small price to pay for more flexibility / control over the rest of my phone.
give it a shot -- as you said, you can always go back with a nandroid.
good luck!
Again, many thanks!!!!!!!! you guys are great.
And NO, it's not a show stopper. but it is kind of bad. I may be wrong and it may only be once and a while but if i have to CONSTANTLY switch airplane to get 3G(the most important/common feature of a smart phone) than yes, i might go back. But maybe it's only once and a while.
but thanks again. I am going to do it right now. I just had to make sure you pro's approved first. An idiot like me could install the total wrong thing by understanding one word the wrong way or something. I might have one more question for you guys later (haven't looked into it yet) on how to install that patch for Teeter. I never installed a patch before. But I'll do some reading first. I am not lazy just like to be helped and make sure I'm on the right track.
Can't wait the get some different things on this bad boy. I owe you all (even if you don't realize it-you guys helped me unbelievably yesterday and today)
Only time I ever have the 3G issue is when I restart the phone sometimes. 3G (Data in general) never enables. If I restart the phone again, it clears it up. Once the 3G icon shows up, I don't have any issues about it having problems again.
I get it. so it's kind of like a once a day thing (if at all). Perfect.
And it's DONE!!!!!!!!!!! i know have a Deotexed phone and i have my battery percentage. I can now stop crying.
couldn't have done it without you guys. I read for about 6 hours and if you guys didn't help it would have taken 16 instead.
Everyting is great so far. Of course it's only been a few minutes. the only bad thing i did was install without a wipe. I wanted to see if it worked first. So i will play around and see what happens.
I said "i DIDN'T want a ROM" and now I'm so happy that i do.
thanks a million. I wish there were "thanks"buttons on here.
PS. besides my batt meter, what else do you recommend for theming(that i might not realize we can do)
oh man! you are EXACTLY where I've been for the past couple of days. I've been looking for a way to add that very same battery percentage.
1. How is that ROM running (http ://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765930)
2. Which version did you install deodexed & odexed (whats the difference)
3. How did you add the battery percentage?
help is greatly appreciated
Theguy, it is perfect, easy and EXACTLY what we were looking for. Im have to go to breakfast right now but once done I'm gonna make a nice (easy to understand) write up for you. You will have a nice batt meter and other nice icons in less than 20 minutes once you see how easy it is. And then once your deotexed you can do a ton more. I'll have it up in a couple of hours. I can't get out of this breakfast I have to go to.
Hang tight.
I'm going to write this as basic and complete as I can. So please don't be insulted if I write about easy procedures that you probably already realize.
First go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765930
And get the deodex version R2
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O0COI6HO
then get the "Teeter" patch also
http://www.multiupload.com/0BOJHP1LP0
Of course the first step is to do a nand backup of your stock root you have now. (I had to restore a few times because of different things i tried)
All of the zip files you are going to download go to the root of the SD card (don't put in a special folder or anything just put on the SD Card as they are)
I have to assume you obtained root by Unrevoked3???
Once you get these zip files on your SD card (you can do one at a time if you like-that’s what I did).
Power your phone off and then boot into Recovery (power button and volume down at the same time).
Once the white screen comes up and you give it a few seconds for the things to load, navigate down(by the volume keys) to "Recovery" then hit the power button to select.
You will now be in Clockwork Recovery. You now navigate with the optical pad.
Go to "install Zip from SD Card"
Then go to "Choose Zip from sdcard"
Find the Zip you installed (obviously you are going to do the Deodex R2 file first).
Once you choose the file, another screen comes up that make you choose "yes" first.
Once you select that final "yes" it will download and after some time you will see "download complete"
Then I think it is ready for you to select "reboot system now" (up top)
Once you select "reboot system now" it will load your new ROM. It can take some time. Mine only took a few minutes but I have read it can take 20 minutes. So be patient!!
And that’s it. Then go and install the "Teeter patch" and then the "smooth sense icons" THEY all install the exact same way as above. The second one you install will be very easy.
I didn't use the round battery meter.
I used the one from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743880&highlight=smooth+sense+icons
On page 3 of that thread is the zip I used (regular battery shape with white percentage indicator
It’s here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=372998&d=1280920182
this ROM is exactly what your looking for. 100% stock. No bugs (so far) and you won't even notice you have a different ROM on your phone. Just so you know I have also changed my fonts (we can now do stuff like that because we have a deodex'ed Rom). These guys were great in helping me.
I forgot to answer one of your questions. I don' know the technical difference between Deodex vs. odex but i know we need deodex to install these type things (themes, fonts, certain clocks and a bunch of other stuff). and i do know that once you do above (what I did) we should be all set. I have never seen anything say "you must be odex". So we can now do anything (or at least mostly anything)
thank you very much!! you hit it right on... will start the install right now
No problem Sir. I love helping. I'm uually the one asking.
If i left out a step or youg et stuck, don't hesitate to ask. Or if you don't feel like waiting for me on here, PM me and I'll give you my e-mail.
but you will be allset. Trust me, if an idiot like me can do it you'll be able to do it no problem.
just finished my install and everything is running smooth as butter!!

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! did you do the batt indicatr yet???? or just the ROM?
it's funny how a little thing like a number on top of the battery make ths phone brand new to me. It has probably made it worse for me. I check my batt every two seconds now. So now that i have a reading I'm gonna kill my baterry ten times faster.......LOL But i don't care....
good work though. and I'm sure I'll see you on here looking for the same things as me. I had to take my new fonts off. they made all my "exchange" e-mail look un-read (they were all in bold). have to find another one now...
installed the icons AND was able to hide away the location icon, alarm indicator, and standarad little clock (never understood why I needed a small clock on the status bar since I had a HUGE one on my lockscreen and a HUGE one on my main screen)

[Q] some questions about the galaxy 3

I just bought this phone and I really like it, though there are some things I would like to ask you guys.
1) I don't have any data plan and don't want to have any for the moment, is disabling the packet data and data roaming options enough? I've also enabled GSM mode only.
2) I've read many people saying to delete some battery stats and charge the phone in a particular way. Do I really need to do that? I usually just wait till there's little battery (about 15%-5%) and then charge it.
My understanding is that Li-ion batteries can be charged at any point, is this correct? I also noted that the battery percentage in about phone sometimes is different than what the battery icon shows. Also, I normally off the phone when charging and at night, I leave it on (in flight mode) at night only if I have an alarm in the morning.
3) To move my music to the SD card I created a music folder because there wasn't one, is this normal? I had the phone format the card before doing it.
Also I have 2 problems with the album art: almost every time I enter the music player the album art has to reload; the other problem is that sometimes the album art are mixed up i.e. they appear on the wrong song/album, they appear correctly on my PC.
4) I'm not sure if I should put a custom ROM. It sounds easy but I don't really do much with my phone. I just call, send texts and listen to music. First I wanted cyanogenmod but it's in alpha so I was thinking of Kyrillo's ROM 9.5. It would be nice to get rid of bloatware and have better battery. The thing is that Kyrillo's Rom seems to have extra stuff while I would prefer the stock 2.2 Android ROM. I don't really know what to do. I've also read that some custom ROMs have better audio driver which I'm interested in. By the way I'm currently using the phone without a google account, maybe I will decide to connect one, don't think I really need it though.
5) I have set the vibration to be on in silent mode, but I would like to have it in "normal mode" only for texts but not for calls, is there a way (without apps)?
Thanks for any answers.
Ok man,i am hete only to answer your fourth question, wich i am completely shure.install a custom rom.do it.kyrillos is good, but kyorarom is the best.root your phone, and remove any system app that you dont use.that will free your internal memory and ram.
Use supercharger script for increasing ram also.if you need a good battery life then use non oc kernels.use some build.prop tweaks also.
Click the thanks button,i wrote all this from my phone

Well your first three questions are of beginner level. You new to Android I guess. I will suggest you put a data plan and connect to your Google account and get going in the market a bit. Apps and stuff.
And the battery stats thing, there is no need to do it. After 3 4 full charge cycles, the battery adjusts itself up.
The last question, yes go for a custom ROM. They are better than your normal stock ROMs. There is an ODIN guide in the General section please refer to it. I won t suggest CM7 as you are new. But after some time on Froyo, CM7 definately worth a try. I use it as a daily ROM. Only few more main modules left.
And for the vibration question. No there is no way without using an app I guess. I really don t remember the Froyo MMS.apk notification settings. Better just use GoSMS.
Enjoy the phone. Cheers.

Thanks to you too.
Yes, this is my first Android and touch screen phone.
Good to know that thing about the battery, I was reading on wikipedia that actually it's a bad idea to let the battery go on low levels.
Link (I can't post complete URLs because I'm new): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery#Prolonging_battery_pack_life
Regarding a custom ROM, I think I'm going to keep Samsung's Froyo for now and get used to the phone, in the meantime I'm sure the port of Cyanogenmod will improve. Then I'll see which custom ROM to use.
Does anyone know how to resolve #3?
I havent had the music problem.well,i dont go to albums much.just create playlists,it will be easier that way on your phone. And yea, disturbed forever! \m/

1. no you dont need to do anything else...
2.you can charge your battery at any time.there is no need to do that at any particular point..and also there is no need to clear the battery stats ..let itbe the way it is.
3.about album arts..did u get them by any app or they were included in the songs.. ? i ve never faced this btw.
4.you can put a custom rom if you want to make it faser and also you can try custom kernels. anyways stock froyo is also a nyc option.
5. i am afraid there is no setting for that without any app !!
I never faced #3. I think the album arts got mixed up in ur songs folder
about the album art problem, i suggest you try a different music player from the market (mixzing is a good choice). That did the trick for me.
Be warned though!!!
The quality of the output of the stock music player is great and unsurpassed by any other app i have tried so far (about 10 and counting...). Given that i mainly use the phone as an mp3 player, that's rather disturbing as the stock player is mediocre at best.
My best guess is that only the stock player takes advantage of the DNSe.

Perfect.
I hope that the battery percentage and the icon fix themselves because for example now, the percentage is 80% but from the icon it looks more like 90%. There may be a time where I think I have 20% but in reality it's 10%, not good!

I manually added them with a program called mp3tag, they work fine on my PC.
I noticed that if I leave the music player open in the background (home button) the covers stay, if I use the back button they don't because the player gets closed.
Considering that you guys don't get this problem I don't know what could be the cause of this. Maybe I should put the music in the root of the SD card rather than in a folder?
The only alternative I found is to use the "My Files" application which shows the music in a list without album art, it's good enough for now.
when you get familiar with phone get yourself a try with cm7 rom beacuse dsp setting and mp3 sound are just amazing over froyo

Few questions regarding Note 20 Ultra ( please help )

Hey guys, Im fairly new to this Note 20 Ultra and Android in general so I decided to ask this here but wasn't sure if I should make a separate topic for each anyways here we go I hope you can help me out:
1. How can I make it so when I receive text messages, notifications, etc... the phone screen turn on like iPhones?
2. I'm using Google Maps for navigation but it seems to be running at a very low FPS and it's not smooth at all, is there a way to make it run smoother/higher frame rate?
3. Whats the best way to fully format and reinstall the firmware on my Note 20 Ultra ( I have the unlocked US version purchased directly from Samsung )/ for reference I know I can do a reset from the settings but I wanna know if there is a way to hook it up to PC and have the phone completely wiped and install a fresh OS like I used be able to do on iPhone.

Thanks for taking the time to reply at least but:
1. Already have edge lightning which is not what i was asking: ( Turn the screen on when receiving txt messages )
2. done that as well, doesn't fix the low sub 30 fps issue. looking for any hidden settings/mods to get higher fps in Maps
3. honestly that was not helpful, I'm simply asking what's the best way to go about it, not bothering is simply wasn't what I was looking for.
4. again thanks for taking the time none the less.
1. For this I use a third party app as the Note 20 does not have anymore the notification LED. This app is called aodNotify (from Play Store) and it has option to wake up the screen when a notification arives.
The phone itself does not have such an option, it has something else called "lift to wake" that will wake the screen if you pick it up from where it was standing....but that's regardless if you get a notification or not
2. Dunno what to say here, Maps works fine for me. Maybe reinstall the app, wipe its cache, things like this. But I presume you already tried these
3. Download your official firmware either from Sammobile site or using a tool like Frija, Samfirm (is deprecated) and such, then write the firmware on your phone using Odin. This will ensure you won't trigger Knox and that you'll have official firmware written as new

Welcome to the forums, welcome to Android, and welcome to the Note family!!
To start off with, there's going to be hiccups switching platforms. Apple and Android do the same things, but for different people. Apple just works, but it's the same experience across every device. Android requires some tinkering and customization, but the beauty is you CAN do that.
And some people just can't make the switch, and that's cool. I left Android for Apple years ago, but after months of trying to make it like my Android, I realized that was stupid and switched back to Android and never looked back. Then there's some people who switch platforms and love it. Then there's others who carry and Apple in one pocket, and an Android in the other, because they appreciate the differences.
1. I second AOD notify. I love that app and have used it on my Note 10, my Note 20, and plan to see if it works on the Z Fold 2 when it arrives next week. It can mimic the LED notification light, wake your screen, etc. Also, remember you have an Always On Display that will show all notifications without turning on the screen. I know that's not what you asked, but OPTIONS.
2. Do you have the adaptive refresh rate on? My Google Maps has never been choppy. My work phone used to be an Apple, but I don't remember it having smoother navigation than my Android. I wish I could see your two phones side by side to see what you mean.
3. We don't have iTunes, so you have to do a little more research and work, but we do have an equivalent for reinstalling the factory firmware. For Pixels it's a few command line commands. For Samsung, it's using a Windows application called ODIN.
I say this not to be lazy, but because it will genuinely help you way more...but use the search bar and do some research here. Also check out the the other Galaxy forums (S series, Note 10, even Note 9 and 8). You'll find many tutorials on how to flash the firmware with ODIN. More in depth than I could ever type here. I think I even wrote a guide back in the Note 8 days and posted it here.
But honestly, 99.9% of the time, flashing the firmware isn't necessary and is a waste of time. But, if you want to do it, you can!
The learning this new platform will be fun if you really dive in and start reading and learning. We were all new to Android one time as well. Some of us old farts, like me, came Blackberry and have been doing this for a while. Some people tend to forget they were new once too.
Search, read, then ask questions, and you'll be fine. Welcome!!
