[CLOSED] No Longer Required
I support this idea and will bump the thread.
The source for Webtop is available here.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/motorola-webtop.motorola/
I think a better question is, besides not being available what is stopping this from happening?

Without going into too much detail, looking for a developer who can confirm some questions about exactly what the removal of third party sources (the unknown sources box in settings>applications) can and can't affect.
Specifically -- can the removal of this portion of the Android code affect the ability to receive an OTA update.
Anyone with a clue what I might be digging at, and want's to discuss in private, holler. I completely understand and will gladly give my contact info, figured I would come ask the best and brightest.
There is really nothing more to explain. With that disabled you can only install applications from the Market, which eliminates community shared programs.
Hi All,
Firstly my apologies if this has already been covered but i have been unable to find anything on this through XDA developers, developers @ android or any other source.
I've been curious about the encryption options which show on my Acer Iconia A500 and thought about tinkering
I believe that encryption should now be available from Android 2.3 and up but i need to find out if it is whole disk encryption or just a specific part of the file system etc. I would also like to know what type or level of encryption is being enforced here.
I have uploaded a small amateur video of the process to youtube;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzgSjX7sbro
or just search for android encryption and my video should be top. Another thing that i thought was very strange is that no one else appears to have documented this, that i can find anyway...
On the Android dev forums i can see that encryption is mentioned and rough coding examples and demos provided so that people or device admins can enfore encryption with their own apps but thats it, nothing else.
If anyone has any additional details, please let me know
mmmm Interesting lol
Apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere, I was unable to find it. Also, I'm a n00b, so xda wouldn't let me post this in the developer forums.
I need to publish an .apk to the Android Market that is specific to a particular hardware model. I've looked at the Market Filters documentation (at developer.android.com/guide/appendix/market-filters.html), but could not figure out how to filter based on a specific device.
At run-time, you can query "android.os.Build.MODEL", which is great... but I need the market to use that data to filter.
I'm currently working on understanding exactly how the market checks for compatibility and circumvent it by creating the illusion of whatever features are required despite their non existence on a specific device. I'm not worried about a device not being able to handle an application once it has been downloaded, i'm just focusing on attempting to be able to download directly from the market on a devices that should not be compatible with that software. I'd appreciate any and all information the community is willing to contribute to the cause.
Thanks,
Isaiahhhhh
Hey there,
I'd like to know if anyone out there tried to use the new Samsung tablet UI on other devices. If so, how did the experience go? I have a feeling that it wouldn't work if I just took the APK out of a system dump and pushed it to my device (like it wouldn't work for the stock launchers of most devices out there, their full functions are usually buried somewhat deep in the system, like on the framework or even deeper sh*t the manufacturer decides), but I think it's worth asking.
Plus, is there a specific forum for app/ports/whatever-like-this requests? I see there is this Q&A board and the apps board, plus device-specific app requests threads over various forums, but I really don't know where would an app request with no specific device in mind would go. If there is such forum already, I'd like to know (and have this thread moved there, if possible), because I couldn't find it easily.
Thanks in advance for any help in any of the matters.
