I uninstalled AT&T Address Book (through Titanium Backup) and expected to be able to restore it in the event of catastrophic failure...was wrong. I then attempted to replace contacts.apk with one without AT&T Address Book and that broke EVERYTHING...did factory reset...even worse. I managed to get Contacts.apk back to normal but I still have the "AAB Initializing error when ever I click on my address book...
Anyone know how I can restore my ...
ALRIGHTY...all I need now is the name of the ATT_AddressBook.apk, and I should be back in business...
Go to this thread the apk is like 4 posts down!!!
HERE
and i would appreciate it if you could help me...
we are trying to get some development going for the LG thrill 4g...
so if you could plz copy the flash_image file in the system/bin folder on your device and post it on this thread please!!!
thankyou your help is appreciated!!!
I can help you out, but I'm in the /system/bin folder right now and don't see the file your talking about.
I'm using root explorer BTW and have r/w control...
Closest thing is "flash_renderer_test" then "frame buffer_test". The file you speak of should be right around there, but its not..

Dear All,
First thankyou so much for the great forum we have here, I am using Huawei Ideos u8150, the fone is network locked so I played around, being a total noob I started with installing sdk, and rooted my fone using z4root, rooting was successful
No when I try to copy a modified build.prop to the systems folder in root explorer, the file is copies but is not visible, also I have deleted the original build.prop & I am afraid to reboot the fone,
can restoring the fone to factory settings solve this ? also how come I copy the file to system folder, it gets copied and I still cant see it ?
I have tried pushing the file using ADB command line but the device refuses to mount (persmission denied)
I would really be thankful to anyone who can guide a noob like me, if you dont this forum has enough reasons to love it already,
cheers !

Moderators if by any chance I have placed this query in the wrong part of forum, please let me know in which part I should raise it, thanks !
In the top right hand corner or left it should be a r/o button. If you push that to r/w which is read/write you will be able to copy the bp correctly. Don't forget to mount as r/o which is read only before you exit RE. Then reboot. If you made a backup which you should have done before modding the bp you will be ok to reboot. If anything goes wrong just do a restore. Also you can Redownload the current rom your on to your cpu. Then extract it to a folder on your desktop. Then browse threw all the folders untill you see the stock build prop. Copy&paste it to your sd and that's your stock build prop. Hope this helps. Good luck

thanks for the kind help, I have tried doing that, I have rooted it, the I click on the r/o button and then I did copy the new built.prop to systems folder, the copying process completes, doesnt report any error but still there is no file visible by the name of built.prop, I just cant find it, is it hidden ? or is it not being copied in the first place ? & thanks I would try to extract the stock built.prop, and copy it to the folder but I will do it as a last option till I dont find something else,
thanks a million for the help, would apprciate if you can point it what I am doing wrong
Dear All,
I have recently rooted a sidekick 4g (t-mobile) using SuperOneClick and today, I have a OTA update, which I've postponded until tomorrow...
After further research I found away to rename a file from .zip to .bak to stop further updates, but I'm still getting the notification..
So more research I saw other options for other phone about changing the build.prop file, but all the research doesn't match the info I've got on my SD card... (as I copied the file from the system folder to SD, the plugged the SD into my pc)
Can anybody help, what parts of the build.prop info would be needed for advice on changing it to other figures? I could provide it all, but I didn't want to copy and paste a big text file here.
Thanks in advance for the help and support.
Regards
If you
Code:
pm disable com.wssyncmldm
as root, you'll stop receiving notifications about firmware updates. This might or might not break TMO contacts backup, or maybe that was due to the com.wssnps package I disabled at the same time.
I know nothing about build.prop or what the update agent might actually be using to sense the version.
just go into system/apps and delete wssyncmldm.apk
Thank you both for the replies, I will do that later on tonight.
Hi there.
After many months of flashing on an orange san francisco i have moved on to my nexus s. got stock ics from update.zip a few weeks back and finally taken plunge in rooting today. plan on keeping it stock for now but noticed a few places saying recovery will disappear on reboot. i know that renaming the recovery fil in etc folder will stop it but can't seem to access it. used to use android commander on san fran but doesn't recognise device now. any ideas on free app to do the job?
Sorry if already asked but searching threw up nothing.
Get root explorer, mount as R/w, Then go to system/etc and rename the file install-recovery.sh to something else.
jobs a goodun!!! thanks for that. couldn't remember the name of that app! many thanks
For those of you whom have flashed a rom for this phone, only to find you want to go back to stock, you may eventually run into a problem.
You lose data connectivity, EDGE2, 3G, 4G.
If you take a look into About Phone area in the Settings, you click status, and you will find your IMEI is corrupted.
Worst case you have to use a HEX Editor to change the values back to default, but I found a simple workaround that any new user can follow
Must be rooted.
Download Root Explorer or ES File Explorer
Change your settings to allow root options
Go to the root of your SD
Navigate to the efs folder
You will see a folder called imei, but you don't want that, you want the root folder
Now go into the afs folder
Now Settings
you should now be in /efs/root/afs/settings
nv_data.bin is the file you are looking for, copy it to the root of your internal or external sd card.
Now delete the nv_data.bin from /efs/root/afs/settings and reboot
Check your IMEI number as you did prior to the walkthrough, chances are, if you are lucky, the OS grabbed the imei during the boot.
Good luck, hope this helps someone like it did me.

Can you possibly tell my step by step how to fix it in a hex editor and what hex editor to download? I actually have a couple of apps that wont work without the imei
I hate this phone. 2 days now and still no help on how to rewrite my imei back to my phone. debating on trashing it and buying another phone now.
Omg thanks!!!!
DUDE, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I literally spend 7 days trying to get this phone fixed. A T-Mobile representitive finally identified my IMEI as the problem and told me I would have to buy a new phone myself, since rooting it kills the warranty.
BUT
After searching around a bit, I found your post.
YOU FIXED A PROBLEM NO T-MOBILE REPRESENTATIVE EVEN KNEW ABOUT!!!
Saved me a bunch of money!!
Seriously man, great post. Big help!
Can someone tell me in here what should I do if my "efs" folder is EMPTY and I've no backup?
Sorry if I'm resurrecting this thread from the grave.
efs folder not found
What to do if there is no efs folder or a file called nv_data.bin?
I did a low level format to my phone in order to unbrick it, could this fix my imei?
Could this brick my phone again?
Idk if i'm at the right place to ask this but i don't know where to ask, so..
I have a .bak file which contain contacts and sms, coming from an old samsung that has the screen broken.
I placed the .bak on my current phone but can't figure out how to read the sms it contains.. Do you know how to do it ?
It's pretty important, i hope there is a way to do it, thanks allready
