Hey, i'm preparing supertux for android, its already done, but kinda slow for now on slower devices, but on a nexus you will have full fps and music. Its missing a touchscreen joystick also.You can see the state of my progress here
I'm looking for people interested in testing it to launch a initial version to the market. The game will be free, and there is going to be a donate version with access to contrib levels.
Keymaps:
Up -> dpad up
Down -> dpad down
Left -> vol +
Right -> vol-
Jump -> dpad center
action -> menu key
(you can change them ingame)
Dowload:
UPDATE: Virtual touch keys are only working for 2.2+ versions, i realized i'm using a newer API, i'm going to target the 2.0 devices for using it (earlier versions dont support multitouch).
0.61
You can now play with virtual keys, and you can map it as you want in options.
There directionbuttons.png and jumpactionbuttons.png have the layout of the buttons, i'd appreciate if someone made looking better ones.
-> Initial touchscreen input.
-> Playing with touchscreen eats FPS, JNI fault, you cant optimize it much... However i'll add an option in menu to hide touchscreen buttons.
-> Loading screen added, no more black screen, looking to ideas for layout
-> Some things more, which i dont remember.
-> You will have to download the data package again, with the modifications (i hope when it comes to market all the data files aren't modified)
0.5
Mirror
- Improved in-game performance; no need to install logcat anymore if you dont want it.
- I don't think i'll improve the fps too much, but the inconsistence in some heavier parts in-game will be improved.
0.42
0.41
0.4
UPDATE: it seems the main MENU in game is very slow on nexus, i need someone with programming skills to help me out, as i just have an htc magic, and don't suffer from this problem.
BUGLIST
Open keyboard on Droid -> [FATAL] main.cpp:589 Unexpected exception: OpenGLError while 'drawing': Unknown error (code 2963392)

I'd happily test it
I'll help out if you need some more.

Initial impression is that its very confussing and difficult to use... it took me a while to work out what I was looking at. Don't get the widget folder as it negates what a widget is. I do like the potential concept, but this really needs a lot more thought into user experience.
To start with look at changing the folder controls to make them easier to select.
This is a very original approach and I'll going to watch this one with interest...

Often only shows black screen on HTC legend.
The dock icons are too big and there is hardly any customization possible.
But it is a really interesting idea and different from other launcher. I'll stay tuned.

We would really appreciate any more detail you can provide about Widgets. We are tweaking the UI throughout the beta program and any additional ideas or recommendations would be really helpful.

Unless I'm missing something the only place to add widgets is in the folder at the top of the screen. This limited the use of widgets... for example if I add a 2x2 clock thats all I can see and use unless I expand the folder. This is compounded by the difficulty in using the folder controls. Widgets are supposed to provide quick and easy access and viewing of apps and info you use most, currently this is lost in Claystone... If you could make widget use a little more traditional it would go a long way...
Like I said previously though the whole user experience would be vastly improved if you added larger controls to the folders making it quick and easy to expand/close etc.
Like ms_green says the dock is a little large and it makes the screen feel a little cramped.
A very short review, sorry for being blunt:
* On my Droid Incredible: great, now applications are even smaller/hard to read. UI is not very responsive. Toolbar buttons are too small but making them any bigger would mean even less real estate.
* Tablet: Ooooh now you're talking! The layout makes much more sense, especially in landscape mode. This is actually getting closer to WebOs' take on multitasked UI.
I think this app has a great future on tablets.
Ima dl right now

Can someone post screenshots? Thanks
This is great!!! VERY GOOD!!! the concept is amazing
things u might want to improve:
The loading speed of panels are slow. Even opening the appdrawer takes no less than 3 seconds, not to mention browser etc
When u scroll vertically but a bit sideways on a panel it just pops u into another panel, very excruciating
Panels. seriously, all u can have is a home panel and a widget panel? i want to make my own (not just folders) for example media, games etc
"items" u can add. to be honest all there is is file explorer, browser and youtube (not to mention the youtube one really sucks). U need more of these "items", but i understand this is a beta
lol no offense
I could see this possibly having potential on a bigger screen, like a tablet maybe. But as it stands things feel too cramped on my 3.7 inch screen. Also things are a bit slow atm.
It's an interesting concept, but implemented in a moderately confusing fashion. The widget box resizes widgets oddly, making things look bulky, etc.
Great idea, though.
Opening the inbuilt contacts force closes the app for me.
But apart from that, a brilliant concept! I can't wait for new additions! Great job

Thanks for the great feedback!
You can create more panels ("folders") as well, you can copy and paste any item in any panel. In our next drop we are going to make it simple by adding applications to the "create" menu.

Hi Melchizedeck,
you should try neogeo bios and roms from rom-world.com (but not the neogeo ones, the mame ones). I'll try to add debug output on rom loading for next release.
No idea how to set it up, i try to load a rom and it just flashes a screen with the controls for a sec and its back to the rom list
I already have the bios in the same dir as roms

Works for me! Metal Slug on the go without using my PSPGO! Thanks bro!
no idea what im doing wrong... too late for a refund... please help me!
My roms are zipped and detected, they work fine on pspgo and neorage
No problem for a refund mauaus, just send me your order number.
I did try mslugx.zip and ssideki.zip and both worked here. You should (if you have the time) download neogeo.zip from rom world and mslugx.zip from there too to be sure (the mame version one).
Can i also ask what is your device?

- Thanks to frandroid for providing an xperia play device to improve/add control code/compatibility

Not bad.. gave it a go on my transformer and just got 19xx to play. When creating the cache images of any other game like mvc, I kept on getting error messages, something about crc and CPU1 (sorry, I forgot exactly what the message said, but I will check later). The roms are ok as I know for a fact that they work.
One other thing is that I couldn't change directory and the device did not look on my SD card to see if the roms were there or not.
That said, 19xx plays butter smooth, although the on screen controls could be better (ie the cross pad a bit larger as it is very easy to run your fingers out of it). I still have to try with my TF keyboard though.
Good job otherwise. I will test on my EVO 3d and report back.
Are you really going to make the GUI for NeoDroid white?
I know this is minor, but I much prefer the black. Perhaps an option?
Also have you considered using the menu button to open a menu with settings, email, exit, rather the the icons at the top?
For devices with a small screen and lots of roms, every bit of screen space helps.
In any case good work with these projects.
:edit:
I realize this is verison 1.0 and you probably have changes and additions in mind already.
A couple other things I noticed, in Marvel vs Capcom the lower buttons are punches and the uppers are kicks.
And the option to disable sound would be nice.
:edit 2:
I'm having a little trouble mapping hardware buttons. When I press up dpad (on a ps3 controller mapped to the phone's hardware dpad) for the first key, the clear button turns blue (highlighted) and it doesnt map the keypress and move on to the next one. In neodroid the mapping works fine
Works great with the games that are compatible, hope to see more games added in the future and the on screen pad is a bit small would be so much easier if it was enlarged a little bit, but that is my only complaint. This emulator is silky smooth and it's so awesome to bust out STF3 and it play flawlessly!

- You are probably trying to run a "clone" rom, which need the "parent" rom. Look in the "Compatibility" tab (search button), if there is a line with "parent:xx.zip" then you also need "xx.zip" to run your rom.
- You can just use the "back" button of you device to browse to your roms directory, each time you launch a rom this path will be saved as default rom directory.

For now the emulator need to use cached graphics on your device, so it need to read this cache file a lot during emulation. I had no slowdown on my xperia, but i use a 8GB sdcard. I guess your sdcard is a small one or a slow one.

W00t, i did forget to include that (it was planned!), i'll add that for the next release.
Excellent first release so far, looking very forward to making this my go-to CPS emu. Few things i'd like to point out from someone whos been using emulators on android for years. My config is a Touchpad running CM9 @ stock 1.2ghz dual core.
Sound is off. You can tell immediately from the insert coin sound in SSF2T and Vampire Savior, they do not sound accurate.
Games feel laggy. At first when i tried SSF2T, it was incredibly laggy, but then i found how to disable the filter and it was smooth after that, but still had a weird lag to it. The addition of a FPS counter would be excellent to see whats going on.
No support for players 2-4 to be configured in hardware buttons. I have 4 wii remotes + 4 classic controllers + 2 TVC Wii arcade sticks, so i have the ability to get 4-player arcade games going ontop of full 2-player fighter games with full arcade sticks, which i use with Mame4Droid often. Would be a great addition.
Emu runs in compatibility mode in Android 4.0. Instead of the menu button being natively working, it scales everything to fit the screen. It still looks great, but native 3.0+ support would be great.
Otherwise this is a great emu and i am enjoying it quite a bit. I would also love for CPS1 to be emulated at some point as well, to get all 3 major emus (CPS1/2/MVS) done by the same author would be awesome to have everything uniform.
Excellent work and keep it up.

The touchpad just has 32 gig of internal storage which is quite fast, no SD card of any kind. Ill update to 1.1!
Edit -
Updated to 1.1, and indeed it is now running natively in 3.0+, no more compatibility mode. Now however, i am running everything non-stretched, and the top bar ontop (touchpad is 4:3 res so gets mostly full screen for CPS2, full screen for console emus like snes/nes) is black and the bar below is grey. I thought something got weird so i switched from stretched, scaled and native, and noticed the background goes from black to grey now, previously on 1.0 it was all black. Due to this, it looked like 2 incorrect levels were displayed on top/bottom when it likely is just a bitmap change to the background causing it.
Otherwise, i think the games are running properly, but the sound being so wrong is making me think it is not running 60fps. Great work so far.

Great! Thank you for the answer. I will install 1.1 and I will let you know how it goes.
Edit: ok, I installed 1.1 on my TF and you were somewhat right about the roms.... ironically, the ones that do run are the US clones. I actually have the (EUR) versions (full roms) and they spit out the error I told you earlier, but once I got the US clone file and ran that, it was good....
I think I may have found a bug. The key assignment....
I assigned hardware keys from my TF keyboard and only the Start, Coin, and dpad are being saved. None of the other 6 buttons get saved for some reason. I did it a few times over, turning off the program, etc and still nothing. I did notice that one of the changes you made included a tweak on this, so I am wondering if maybe something else got lost with the fix.
Looking better and MvsC runs like a champ!

All the features work on Transformer TF101 but I've noticed black and white bars at the top and sometimes the bottom of the image. It varies in size depending on the view from what I can tell and remains there when changing frames and themes. I can provide pictures if you would like. Not complaining, just reporting Great job on the app.

Thanks Smithchipz! It was a bit of a pain trying to come up with a way to make the camera preview fit on every screen without changing the aspect ratio. I need to work a little on my code, but I need some time with different devices to figure out the the best way. Each device reports a list of camera preview sizes to my app and my app chooses the largest one(well it's supposed to anyway). I've noticed the way devices reports the sizes is different from phone to phone. My nexus7 lists the sizes in ascending order, the GNex in descending. It sounds like on the transformer, it's choosing a size that is not the largest. So far, I've only personally tested this app on the Nexus7 and the GNex. Thanks again and hopefully I'll get that issue figured out soon.
BTW: If it's not too much trouble, screenshots would be great. Thanks!!
Hope everyone is enjoying the app. If you have any issues, please let me know. I've had to rely on users to get all the bugs figured out. Thanks guys!

Tried it out on a Galaxy Note and Galaxy S. Everything OK except the picture gets stretched out.

Thanks Kame_boy! I've sent you a PM to get more details.
Released the last update for this weekend, I promise. The kinks should be worked out.
Pushed a new update today. Snapshot mode for paid users and extra frames for free users! Spanish and German are now supported languages. Bug reporting has been improved. Thanks!
Minor update
Updated to include more languages. As of now, German, Spanish, French, Korean, and Japanese are supported languages. Enjoy!
2.1 is out! I've added zoom controls, a photobooth mode and a bunch of other stuff. Hope you guys enjoy it!
2.13 should be live very soon. I think the white/black screen bug that was affecting some users should be fixed with this update. This update brings support for 4.2 devices as well. Enjoy!
Back to work on the app! The new version (2.2) of Front Camera Mirror will split the frames away from the main app. This will result in a smaller overall size for the base app and will allow users to customize the frames that they want on the app by simply downloading the add on packs. I spent the day designing some new frames for the packs. I'm also looking into implementing a camera lag feature which would allow for a quick glance at the back of one's head. I will keep you all updated. Thanks!
Front Camera Mirror has hit 50,000 downloads this week. Thanks to everyone for all your support. The new version, 2.2, is now up on the Android Play Store. I will be getting the Amazon Appstore version up shortly. I have also been working on a website for wckd Dev if anyone wants to check it out. Thanks guys and, as always, let me know if you have any problems!
All new images for the app stores!
100,000 Downloads!! Pinch to zoom and pause mode added. Thanks for all the support guys!
How come such apps aren't made for Gingerbread? What possible ICS/JB components could this app require, that GB cannot deliver? Not being an ass, just wondering, really.

Sorry for the huge delay in response. I used a TextureView in the app in order to display the camera preview. Using the TextureView makes it very easy to manipulate the output (resizing, mirroring and flipping the image) and unfortunately it is only available in API 14 (ICS) and above. It could be made to work with GB, but I just don't have the time or a GB device to test with. Sorry.
